Nosh just reopened in their new location so went for lunch 1/31. It was the first and last time I will go. The food was at best average. Undercooked bacon with soggy bread, tasteless and cold fries. So very delicious! Sometimes my husband and I drive out here for special occasion breakfasts, and the food is just fantastic. It's not cheap, and you're paying for quality not quantity, but it's totally worth it. Their creative egg dishes make me melt, and the service is great (if a little quirky, but that's OK). Eat here and I can almost guarantee you'll like your food (if not your check). The whole "we're so cool"/"strollers r us" atmosphere makes me wonder if my love of this place signifies that I might actually some sort of yuppie douche in disguise, but I don't care. my family loves this place! we make sure to come whenever we pass through town! today was our first experience at the new location. the atmosphere is lovely, with lots of natural light. my one request would be for nosh to get traditional coffee mugs, saucers, and spoons, so they can serve their cappuccinos properly. drinking a 3 dollar cappuccino in a regular mug without a saucer or spoon was not enjoyable. i love the nosh french toast though and had been craving the yummy lemon cream sauce!!! read more

They also offer up some tasty "skinny" options including steel cut oatmeal as well as some adorable kids-sized portions. Salads and sandwiches rule the lunch menu. The first time I came here (months ago), I hated it. HATED it. Everything seemed off... the atmosphere was odd and the food wasn't memorable. I decided after a long break-up to give it another try. I'm definitely pretty fond of Nosh. It's small and simple with a touch of family friendly hipster. It's a bit tucked away from the busy street of downtown Geneva but not so tucked away where you could miss it. My boyfriend and I decided to grab a light lunch here. It was a little too late to be considered brunch. The place was packed with people laughing and enjoying themselves but we were still seated right away which was awesome! The waitress was a delight! She definitely knew the menu and had no problem giving us recommendations. I love service like that! Especially when it's my first time visiting. My order was extremely simple. I like to go simple when trying a new restaurant most of the time. I find that if you can mess up something simple then there's little hope for the rest. Anyway, I went with the Basil Pesto Flatbread with a side salad and a mimosa. The mimosa was okay, not great. I probably wouldn't order it again. That flatbread though...man...that was so good! It's not your traditional flatbread. I would say it's similar to a pizza crust. Not Pizza Hut pizza crust but fresh, legit made to order pizza crust. My boyfriend had a crab cake trio kind of thing. I'm not sure what it's actually called on the menu but it seems to be off their menu now. He also had their pear side. Stopped for breakfast here with my coworker after a work related seminar. Very cute ambiance. I'm allllll about the ambiance. Very nicely decorated with bright colors -a very happy, well lit place. The food and service was good too. It reminded me of the trendy, modern places that are all over the city (of Chicago, that is). Geneva is a cute little town. Great shopping, good food. I enjoyed my experience at Nosh, but did not enjoy it as much as some other breakfast joints in the area. What I do like about Nosh is that it has some unique and fun items on the menu, instead of just regular boring items- but still includes those as well for those who don't want to branch out. My dining friend ate a egg sandwich staple, and seemed to really enjoy it, I loved the pears that came with my breakfast. Service was good, environment was nice- not nearly as noisy as Egg Harbor- and the price felt right. Went with the g/f to Nosh today. We had tried to go once before but got there after they closed - they are open until 2pm. Place is nice inside and the staff is friendly. We ordered the flavored lemonades - and they were yummy! I highly recommend the mango lemonade. I know you are probably thinking ...Ewwww - but it is a nice combination of flavors. I order the migas de pan caliente de puerco. (I think my spanish teachers collectively sighed in frustration at that sentence!). It was yummy. It was essentially a big quiche with chorizo, carmelized onions, bacon and croutons. The crootons might throw you but they added a great flavor to the dish and were just the right consistency (not too hard, not too soft Goldilocks). It is one of the dishes that is a Nosh Signature so i figured i couldnt go wrong and i was right on the money. The g/f had the crabcakes. They were good but you know i won that food war! She tasted mine and immediately had food envy. We had dessert! I had the brownie and g/h had the apple crisp. Both were great. The brownie was not a square wedge but looked like a miniature bundt cake, er sort of. Whatever - it was delish! The bill wasn't bad but it was a bit more than you would pay at Bob Evans or Denny's etc. Nosh is a hip place that serves creative dishes you will not find anywhere else. Worth a trip or two. The menu seemed like it had a lot, yet not when I actually tried to pick something. You know what I mean? I visited Nosh after a dress fitting at Crystal Bride nearby. This place is slightly off the main street, which is kind of nice. I think we were excited especially because we were told about it from some (local?) people on the street whom we had asked for a recommendation - traditional word of mouth. I'd previously only been to Nosh at business breakfast meetings, and enjoyed every visit, but today was extra special since my lovely wife and I are still on vacation and we got to relax and enjoy Nosh together. As on past visits, when the room is full, it is very loud. But you'll forget all about the noise when you taste the wonderful food. Having already had the Egg'r (yum), the Lorraine Omelet (Yum) and the Savory French Toast (YUM!), I decided to finally try the Jalapeno Benedict which has been calling to my taste buds since I first saw it on the menu. I always avoided it on previous visits because I thought it would be too heavy, particularly on a work day, but was I ever wrong! The skirt steak is done to perfection and the jalapeno hollandaise is light and fresh with just the perfect amount of heat at the back of your throat to make this a winner anyway you look at it. My wife is not typically an eggs Benedict fan because of the richness, but she tried the salmon version and was pleased beyond compare. Again, the hollandaise was light and fresh and the dill in the sauce was a great complement to the delicious cured salmon. We both felt satisfied without being overly filled. We love Nosh! read more

I went here with my husband's family for brunch on a Sunday. There were 6 of us and we were seated within minutes. The restaurant was pretty busy, so I was impressed. The menu had a bunch of creative options and I had a difficult making a time choosing. I ended up with the red eye benedict and it was fantastic. I also had a bruleed grapefruit, which was DELICIOUS but difficult to eat in a restaurant. I ended up with juice all over me :) I think that the sides that come with breakfast were a little lacking. The roasted potatoes were uninspired, as were the gingered pears. My husband got french fries with his, which were delicious. That would definitely be my recommendation, despite the issues I have with having french fries for breakfast. The service was ok. Things came out quickly, which was great b/c we were very hungry. One of the latest joys my man has introduced me to is the wonder of brunch. Seriously, I never knew such a plethora of delights could be available if I only had the gumption to get out of the house in the morning to go get it! As such, Nosh is yet another in a long line of restaurants I'm trying to find my favorite little breakfast nook. There are a lot of nice little things to say about Nosh.. I didn't have the coffee, but for all of those who complained about the price, they sure do give you a gigantic mug of it.. and it never seems to go empty. My friends were practically shaking. I decided to get the Gemini Benedict, partly because it boasted crab cakes two ways, but mostly because I thought it was funny that instead of referencing the crab from astronomy they decided to reference the twins. I guess Cancer Benedict just doesn't have the same ring, though, does it? Overall, I enjoyed it, although I'm basically knocking off a star because they really didn't taste much like crab. The orange and lemon in each were just way too overpowering to get the delicate crab flavor. Perhaps worst of all, I was too full to order even a tasting sized portion of the hot chocolate french toast for dessert. What? Wouldn't *you* want hot chocolate french toast for dessert? Who says dessert is just for lunch or dinner? Alas, the benedict and two glasses of pomegranate lemonade filled me to the brim, leaving not even the empty spot in my toe for another bite of food. I would probably come back if ever I felt the need to have a snooty brunch ever again, but I would definitely try something else. Honestly, I was disappointed. I went in there at like 9:45am and saw that they had this cool looking dish called the Red Eye Benedict that had steaks and mushrooms. I ordered it and they were out of steak. It was barely 10am.... I was okay with that and ordered an omelette. When my omelette got to the table I realized that it didn't come with an english muffin or toast. I have never been to a breakfast place that doesn't have it's omelettes come with toast. By the time my waitress came back I asked her about it and she confirmed that none of the omelettes come with toast. She asked if I wanted some but I was already half way done with my omelette so I didn't bother. The biggest disappointment was the hash browns. They were so basic. It was like a freezer bag of diced potatoes thrown into the deep fryer. I don't know why a lot of breakfast places struggle with hash browns but I honestly think that hash browns are what separate the good from the great. Potatoes aren't expensive and hand cutting them does not take long especially with dicing and shredding machines now. Also the portion size of the potatoes was really small. Especially considering that I didn't get toast either. I think I had about 15 pieces that were about an 1/2 inch to an inch long. The service was good. I had a nice server. Nothing about to complain about with the staff. I am just disappointed that my food was not better than what it was. I can make a better breakfast at home and I am not a cook. The competition of breakfast places in this area is so high you have to do something to separate yourself from everyone else. I'd rather go to Brunch Cafe or Abby's in St Charles or even Buttermilk down the street in Geneva. I hope Nosh is reading this because I am not trying to be mean. I am just giving what I saw when I was there. I am certain that I am not the only person who feels this way. This business is dependent on returning customers and I probably won't be returning any time soon. This place is great! The first thing you notice when you walk in the place is the orange press making fresh sqeezed OJ right before your sleepy eyes. I had a version of their Gran Marnier Mimosa to start...YUMMO! There were four of us and one does not like breakfast food. She was satisfied with Nosh's version of a BLT. I had the standard Eggs Benedict and loved it. The eggs were poached perfectly, the hollandaise was delicious, the shredded ham was a nice change from the standard canadian bacon and the muffin was perfectly toasted. Each component was how they should be. The other 2 mexican ispired dished were also tasty along with the shortstack of plain pancakes and bacon. The Chilechilles were spicy but very tasty. Let me start by saying the employees had the worst attitudes I've ever experienced at a restaurant. We walk in and stand by the host stand when a woman server with brown hair grabs two menus and says "two". We said yeah and she throws our menus on the table and walks away. Then our server greets us immediately and asks what she could get us to drink. I reply by saying we've never been here before. Instead of giving me any sort of insight on the menu, she glared at me without speaking and then proceeds to tell us that the kitchen closes in 25 minutes so we need to be mindful of that. No menu walk thru, nothing. I should have walked out right at that moment. I got the loaded breakfast bowl that totally lacked flavor. Also, not worth the price. It's really small and doesn't come with any toast or pancakes. Then I ordered a mocha latte with almond milk and it just tasted like burnt coffee. I told my server I didn't like it and she grabbed the bill off our table to reluctantly take it off the bill. That was a totally unacceptable experience. What a waste of money. read more

My boyfriend and I were in Geneva for a wedding and this place was perfect for a post hotel checkout "hungover, need food now" meal. The decor is very modern, sort of light and airy. And I loved the menu. There are tons of different options whether you're in the mood for breakfast or lunch. And they're not your typical sandwiches or pancakes- I mean, Mars Bars pancakes? Come on. That made me very happy. I had the chicken, ham & gruyere baguette with Basque fries and the bf had the pressed pork sandwich also with the fries. And we split a side of the chicken apple sausage. Everything was delicious. My pomegranate lemonade was awesome and refreshing, the chicken sausage was nice and flavorful and my sandwich was excellent. The chicken was juicy and tender, the cheese was nice and melty- so good. Bf said his sandwich was "awesome," which is a pretty shining review from that end of the table. Our service was prompt and friendly, and I thought that $30 for two meals, two drinks and three sides was pretty reasonable. Oh Nosh, what happened? We first visited you about two years ago, and were quite pleased with the attentive service, the atmosphere, the quality and especially quantity of the food. This morning, however, aside from our friendly and attentive server, our trip to Nosh was a massive disappointment. Kristina U's review is dead on: "Pretentious patrons and over-priced drinks." And not just the boozy kind. And the crowd... Oh the crowd. We felt very rushed by the bus staff, plus the acoustics of the place simply made everything worse. If you don't deal well with crowds and noise - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Fedora wearing hipster? Check! Beautifully presented dishes on white plates with pretentiously drizzled condiments? Check! Said dishes fall flat when it comes to both taste and (especially) value? Check! Massively over-priced drinks? Check! Nosh feels like it belongs in Wicker Park or Logan Square, not Geneva just West of the Fox River. All it needs is slightly more difficult parking, and they'll have nailed the whole thing perfectly. Also, Celiacs and those with gluten issues beware. Your menu options are seriously restricted. I had the Costa Rican Breakfast - "Two eggs with cheesy vegetarian pink beans served along side jicama slaw, chipotle vinaigrette and a house-made cheesy tortilla." Sounds delightful. But there simply wasn't enough of it. Not filling Not at all. And while the house-made tortillas looked beautiful, they were the most bland and tasteless thing I've eaten in ages. The jicama slaw was the best thing I had today, but again - there simply wasn't enough of it. And the "cheesy vegetarian pink beans" looked, smelled, and tasted like basic re-fried beans. And again, there were barely any on my plate. I shouldn't be leaving brunch with both an empty wallet and an empty stomach. I left Nosh today feeling as though I had been conned. read more

If you like an eclectic menu and a departure from your standard breakfast/lunch locale then I'd suggest Nosh. Their menu is unique but they manage to prepare their dishes in a way that really works. It won't be for everyone. For example I've had their Cuban Sandwich and it's okay. I've had better. But then again tip back one of their Spicy Bloody Mary's or sip on some of their cream of Jalapeno soup and you'll be just fine. Those are two of my absolute favorite menu items. The soup is a MUST. Not too spicy but a perfect blend of jalapeno, cream, and soft chunks of avocado. Mmmmm. Two bloodies later and I was feeling fine for a Saturday brunch! The wait staff is solid. The atmosphere is urban yet warm. The noise level is good especially if you have kids. It's definitely kid friendly if that's what you need. Try their egg's Benedict too. I've been here twice now - with friends when I'm back home. Brunch and lunch. And both times I finished every scrap of food on my plate. As did everyone else in my group. The service also can't be beat. This time we had a baby with us and the bus boy and our waiter seemed completely smitten with him. It was pretty cute. We've gone to Nosh many time. My favorite is their French toast with orange glaze. We've never been disappointed by their food or drinks. We visit in summer more because we like their outdoor seating--which is weird because it looks out on their little parking lot. The only bad experience we've ever had occurred yesterday at noon. There was a loud young couple there who swore. A lot. R rated swearing. They finally left, and a server seemed to know the patrons behind us was also very loud--but she didn't cuss!
