I am heartbroken to give Nosh only 2 stars! I truly had high hopes for this place based on the reviews and a coworker's rave. I know I'll give them another try but my first visit with a friend was just not impressive. Saturday was a girl's day of shopping and eating in Geneva and Nosh was at the top of our list for breakfast. We were quite impressed with their extensive menu - both breakfast and lunch. I also love how they have "tasting" smaller versions of some of their scrumptious sounding pancakes and french toast. The tasting size, true to it's name, is small but not too small for the two of us ladies to split so we can have just a bit of dessert with breakfast :-) We each ordered the same omelet with bacon, gruyere and sauteed leeks. The eggs, 3 of them, were plentiful in the omelet but we each wondered where our filling was. There was hardly any bacon, leeks or gruyere in our omelettes. They were also a bit skimpy on the herb roasted potatoes - there was maybe a half-cup's worth scattered on the plate. Great for portion control but not enough to fill you up! The potatoes were also a bit too greasy from whatever they had been tossed in. Now for our "dessert" - a tasting of the Hot Chocolate French Toast. While this was good it seemed to be lacking an ingredient stated on the menu. It was said to come with some sort of mashmallows or marshmallow fluff. Ours came with a very small amount of what appeared to be, and tasted like whipped cream. And I'm being very truthful, no exaggerating whatsoever, when I say whatever the white topping was it was skimpy. There was plenty of chocolate sauce, though. As for the restaurant itself - I liked the open, airy feel but because of the high ceiling and poor acoustics this place was loud! And they weren't even packed - I'd say half the tables were full and my friend and I had to talk quite loud to hear each other. My final disappointment was when I visited the restroom on the way out. While it was quite clean they have a trash can in the restroom which requires you to lift the lid yourself with your hand in order to throw your paper towel away. I'm no germophobe but in this day and age I would think everyone would appreciate a trash can with a foot-pedal for the lid or sans the lid altogether. I will say the staff and our server were all very friendly and prompt. The ladies near the front greeted us warmly and wished us a great day on our way out. I'm sure I'll give this place another shot when I visit Geneva with my husband. I'll be sure to update this review when I do. read more

Incredible. Do not miss this place. The grilled chicken sausage with apples and Gouda is incredible. Hot chocolate and Nosh french toast were just incredible. Go with the 'taste' portion size for French toast and share. Great men, unique meals with great flavor. Far from a run of the mill breakfast menu. I was very impressed. I am thrilled to have found this place. I will be going back many times to try more of their selections. Do NOT miss a chance to eat here. read more

Great experience again! This time, in addition to the Avocado Toast with Salmon, we shared a half order of the Pina Colada Pancakes (one large pancake). I have to say it was excellent, not overly sweet with real pineapple and coconut incorporated into the batter. It came topped with powdered sugar and a dollop of whipped cream. We opted not to eat the whipped cream or add syrup bc it had the perfect balance of sweet and slightly savory taste all on its own. We ordered our food to go as it was a rainy morning. My expectations were low because normally food doesn't do well picked up. BUT Nosh really set the bar high. Everything was still warm, crunchy, and delish. My husband and I enjoyed every little bit. He was kind enough to give me more of his biscuit beignet because I chowed down on mine. Came here to get Brunch for my boyfriend's birthday. We loved everything about our experience here. I found this place online and what attracted me was their menu was elegantly designed, straightforward, and approachable for any and every palate. There are not a lot of restaurants by me that have mimosas, cocktails, beers, etc. for brunch settings so it was awesome that I finally found this place! When we arrived, my bf had to order a little bit of everything because everything sounded so good. Everything he ended up ordering was rich and full of crafted flavors. I had the eye red Benedict which came with a coffee encrusted steak.....It was absolutely amazing and flavorful! We tried a bunch of their mimosa options and they were all super fun and enjoyable! Meh. Feeling mislead by Yelp right now. The patio is great for a beautiful summer morning. Our server was pleasant and got me a coffee to go. The coffe is solid! The food was the downfall of the trip. I'm not sure if we ordered the "wrong" food, but it was not very good. I ordered the Sedona omelette with pulled pork/cheese/ham. It arrived (almost too quickly) in one of those pre made egg shells. The pulled pork lacked flavor and the omelette was soggy. The potatoes were also not very crisp. The toast was good! (That's sad) My husband ordered eggs, bacon, and steak. Steak came in those strips like you get out of the bag. And the bacon was I Hop quality. He said the eggs were good. Once again, kinda sad. My girlfriend and I went here for breakfast on Easter. Surprisingly not super busy. We like this place as it serves alcohol along side their delicious food. The only reason for 4 versus 5 stars is that there is nothing out of the ordinary. It's good, standard breakfast food. Service is consistent, not overbearing. Stopped in for a nice lunch while on weekend in Geneva, and was pleasantly surprised. This is a reasonably priced, bright, airy brunch spot that I'd probably return to if I'm ever back in the area. My husband and I came for lunch on Sunday during Geneva's Art Fair, so things were pretty busy, but the service was superb. Our server was quick, attentive, and very warm. She checked on us often, and had a good grasp of everything on the menu that we had questions about. In terms of the food, I had the grilled salmon sandwich and my husband had the roast beef sandwich. The portions were generous, though my truffle fries were slightly overdone. I ended up needing to ask for a bit more of the truffle mayo on the side because it was drizzled on top instead of given as a dipping sauce. I was very impressed by the salmon. My server asked how I would like it cooked, as I specified medium rare. It was cooked perfectly, which I haven't often experienced, even at much more expensive brunch/lunch restaurants. All of the ingredients seemed fresh and well prepared. My only critique was that the salmon was oddly long and narrow for the bread, which made eating it a strange experience. The roast beef sandwich was delicious, a lovely balance of beef, cheese and arugula. The atmosphere was lovely, bright and modern with some outdoor seating available as well. Breakfast at Nosh this morning was yet again a wonderful time. Energetic customer driven people who work very hard to make your experience everything you want it to be on a Sunday morning! My almond milk latte with a swirl in the foam is served in a old school cafeteria mug ( so warm to hold on a cold day. My egg white omelette with double the veggies ( because they know how I like I) is savory and filling. Bacon thick and crisp and the fruit, ain't no Mellon chunks in that bowl, it's all berries and grapes and kiwi. My husbands blueberry pancakes were light and fluffy and the coffee refills just keep coming. Go have breakfast and if you get Leslie or any of the staff of servers you'll see why we've been coming to Nosh for years, and will continue to do so as they continue to stay in business for us! read more

We wanted to try a new place for breakfast and stumbled across Nosh. They have a cute bar area to sit at and also a decent size dining room. The decor was very inviting and modern. We actually had a hard time deciding between lunch and breakfast as both coming out of the kitchen looked amazing! We ended up choosing breakfast and had the veggie breakfast bowl and the Costa Rican with chorizo. The food was very flavorful and cooked very well. The coffee was also good and I got a shot of baileys instead of using creamer. The service was great, everyone was extremely nice, the cooks were actually having fun and the entire experience was great! You do get big portions so go with an appetite!! We will be back for more breakfast or to try lunch. read more

While visiting for the weekend due to a local wedding, I thought for sure I would be the one I pick our breakfast spot since I am an Elgin native. My friends looked up brunch on Yelp and suggested Nosh. I was a little Leary since I had never been here but boy was it great! I had an omelette with spinach, tomato and feta cheese and also tried the sample of the blueberry pancakes. This was the best breakfast I have had in years! The Bloody Mary was to die for. I really enjoyed Nosh at my first visit last month. I generally brunch and Egg Harbor when in Geneva, but wanted to try something new. This place has tons of unique menu items, many of which sounded very appealing to me. I ended up going with the breakfast burrito. It was huge and so flavor-filed. It came with potatoes which were also cooked to perfection. My friends and I also split chocolate chip French toast. I am typically not a huge sweet breakfast fan...but I gotta say this was so delicious! I would echo another review that I read on this place about feeling slightly rushed due to the space constraints. We were finishing up our coffee and were asked multiple times if we needed anything else. It gets to a point where you're slightly uncomfortable. I will be back to Nosh in the near future! read more

We just had the most amazing brunch here the day after Thanksgiving. My breakfast burrito was fantastic. The service was impeccable. The best part of the meal was the cheddar biscuits which can be prepared and served without the meat gravy. Be sure to ask for them early on as they tend to run out. Finally, the moment I have waited months for ... Nosh is open in their new location!! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. The place looks beautiful! There are some menu changes. One disappointment was that the roasted potatoes are gone and that's too bad. I was just talking about how it set Nosh apart from other breakfast spots. Oh well ... but at least you still have my chilaquiles and they are still wonderful. And the fresh squeezed juices are still on the menu so I am a happy girl. It was also good to see that some of the same staff is still around - that was good to see. I'm so happy to have my favorite breakfast spot back. Next time, I'll have to try something new. read more

Really wish I could tell you about the food and drinks, but instead I have to share how incompetent the hostesses were this morning. I called and was told the wait time was 35 minutes and put my name in. A friend and I arrived less than 10 minutes later. We confirmed that we were there and our name was on the list. We were told we would be seated in 10-15 minutes. There were a lot of other groups also waiting around for tables. Twice a hostess called for a table group and twice nobody came forward. After 20 minutes of waiting, we checked to see where we were in line. We were told 35 minutes. After questioning why it was going to be so much longer after being told 20 minutes ago it would be 15 minutes I was told that I must have looked at the wrong name. I was very confused by that comment as it made no sense at all. (I clearly know what my own name is and I know what the hostess who was the same person speaking to me said). I was then told that it would be another 10-15 minutes. Frustrated, we left. I hope for the sake of the owner that this was a rare experience for the restaurant. read more

I visited in my friend who lives in Geneva and she was raving about how the old location had an incredible Lobster Bisque and how we should try out Nosh's new location! She did not seem to like new atmosphere as much, and appreciated its more old rustic setting. However, I really loved the modern setting and how trendy it was!! There were outlets everywhere and I could see several people having meetings, but also it just looked like a fun and casual place to hang out generally. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was Very very tasty. It came with seasoned fries that were very delectable. I loved Nosh! Our waitress was extremely friendly and if I'm ever in Geneva again I'll definitely be stopping here! read more

Oh the food! Very well decorated place with a substantial menu for both breakfast and lunch. The wait is usually short and the staff very friendly. Once you start digging into the manual you will find a great selection to choose from and the food comes quick and hot and as always been prepared very well. The egg burrito was cooked perfectly and with the added chorizo it was delicious. The biscuits and gravy taste home made and the cornbread waffles are outstanding. We stopped by for breakfast on a Sunday around 9:00 and we did not have to wait for a seat which we were thankful for as we were starving. We have dined at Nosh before and breakfast was just as good as it was 2 years ago. I ordered the bruleed oatmeal and it was fantastic! My babes ordered the Spanish omelet and he was pleased. I am grateful that I read other Yelper reviews prior to ordering because they do have two types of chicken sausage and you do have to specify if you want regular chicken sausage or if you want the chicken apple gouda sausage. We love chicken apple gouda sausage and Nosh was on point. The whole grain toast was also a big hit. I highly recommend this place. read more

Nosh is my favorite place for breakfast in town and the lunch is also good. It is a little more modern than some of the diners which I also like but better than some of the other contenders (Buttermilk, Egg Harbor, etc..). The food is always good, and I like the latin flairs they have on many of the dishes. It has the best bloody mary in town so if your are in the mood for that, come. Service is consistently good, not stellar but good enough. Plan to continue to frequent. read more

Tricolor benedict sounded really creative, but the poached eggs looked like they were done in a microwave (perfect hemispheres) and were significantly overcooked. The Flat Iron Salad again sounded tasty, but the steak (the star of the show) was generally flavorless, though the rest of the salad was tasty. Staff was very welcoming and told us to take our time even though we came in near closing time. Nice atmosphere overall. But given the experience we likely wouldn't go back. read more

Gotta try the Hangover Benedict , perfectly poached eggs over sausage gravy and biscuits, green onions sprinkled over the top and luckily Nosh serves a wide variety of drinks to help the hangover as well. I usually opt for a nice tequila sunrise and they never skimp on the tequila. Naturally if you're going on a Sunday get there early there's going to be a line but don't waste your time waiting for Buttermilk, check out Noah you won't be disappointed. We enjoy sitting and eating at a bar top and Nosh has one which is nice because most people would rather a table or have a larger group so if you're out with your significant other or another couple skip the line and go straight to the comfy bar stools! read more

This gem snuck away off the main road of downtown Geneva. The parking lot isn't very big so we parked on the side streets behind the restaurant. As you walk up, on the side of the building are butterfly wings like you would find in Nashville. It is the perfect place to take a cute picture with your girlfriends! I have come here on several occasions and all have been great experiences. They have a long list of mimosas (all of which are amazing). They have an extensive menu so it is hard to pick what to get! I have had the Wisconsin skillet as well as their avocado toast, both super yummy! The inside is so cozy and inviting. I highly recommend this for anyone! read more

I had breakfast at Nosh with a friend on Sunday morning around 9:00 a.m. Parking and getting a table was simple, but by 10:00 a.m. there was a short wait building at the door. Nosh is definitely no secret, but it is slightly hidden on James Street, set back slightly farther than other store fronts. The food and drinks are good. I had the Monte Cristo Benedict, with a grape hollandaise sauce. There are some solid breakfast staples on the menu as well as some inventive dishes - they've really got the hollandaise thing down. The eggs on my benedict were cooked perfectly, which is crucial to a good benedict! The benedict came with a side of my choice - the potatoes were okay, just potatoes really, next time I'll try the ginger pears. The food prices and portions are perfect. Most entrees are in the $10-12 range. The drinks are made well and decently sized and priced. For $8, I had a really good raspberry pear mimosa. The interior is a little blah and lacks some comfort at the tables in the center of the restaurant. The service was good, but I felt a little rushed at the end of our meal, but I could have stayed for another drink to catch up with a friend. Excellent breakfast joint. Stays away intentionally, from the traditional corporate, cookie cutter, Denny's type of fare. Fresh squeezed OJ was the bomb diggity. Multigrain toast was a nice treat. Main dish was a Muchacho Omelette. EXCELLENT. Server was new, but very friendly and efficient. Very clean and nicely decorated. I love this place! Hands down best/freshest breakfast/brunch place I've had in the area. The first time I went here I ordered the two eggs poached (comes with choice of meat, potatoes, & toast). I substituted the toast for a pancake because I always need something sweet after my meal. Everything was nice and hot when it came out and these pancakes are officially my favorite around (the syrup is super tasty and comes out warmed also). Since trying Nosh, we haven't went back to our old breakfast places. As for a lunch item, I had the turkey club the last day and it was fire. The baguette that it is served on tasted like they just got it out of the oven to make my sandwich. Service has always been great.
