Had such a great time at 1851! The food was really good and everything we ordered came out fresh and tasted amazing. The atmosphere is really nice too, it's a great place to go for dinner and drinks. Our server was super friendly and attentive, which definitely made the experience even better. We had a really good time and will definitely be coming back!

We had a party of 6 and all the dishes were fantastic. I should have taken more photos for everyone to see, but I will next time I visit. The salmon dish was perfectly cooked and had a beautiful maple and honey mustard blend. The waitress had swagger and helped us as needed. Stay tuned for my next visit.

What a pleasantly surprising experience! I fell in love with the homemade Big Mac Eggrolls. I am so happy to have finally visited this gem in my hometown! Elegantly decorated, carefully crafted menu with delicious house made dipping sauces, and a fresh scratch kitchen menu. This is a fabulous spot to enjoy a night with girlfriends, a cozy romantic local spot for dinner, apps or a night full of delicious cocktails.

I was looking for a place to have a girls dinner for International Women's Day. I wanted something different and stumbled upon The 1851. The name intrigued me. I called for reservations and Luke answered the phone. He was so friendly and personable that I immediately got a great vibe and knew this was the spot. When we arrived we were also welcomed by Luke who explained that The 1851 was a woman owned business and was named after the year Cromwell was officially turned into a town. I loved learning all this! The owner, Jen actually ended up coming out and she introduced herself, which I thought was such an intimate touch to our dining experience. As Luke sat us, the bartender even engaged in conversation and made us feel so welcomed. Luke ended up being our server as well, which I was so happy about because he was so bubbly and fun. He recommended some great drinks, appetizers, and dinner entrées. We ordered two appetizers to share to start. The first one was the fried green tomatoes with fresh mozzarella, pesto sauce, and arugula, and it was absolutely amazing. We also tried the tuna tartare appetizer and it was so fresh. I have the New York strip cooked medium, for dinner and it was massive. It was served with the best side of spaghetti squash, risotto, and Brussels. My friend tried the short rib with mashed potatoes and the spaghetti squash with pine nuts and pesto sauce. I tried a bit of everyone's dishes, and I must say they were all on point! For dessert, we shared a pistachio ricotta cake that was the perfect ending to a fabulous night. I highly recommend checking this place out!

What a fun night! Came here with a couple of girlfriends. Started at the little lounge area, but…read moresoon took the party to the bar when we ran into another yelpie! Don't let the outside of this place fool you because looks are definitely deceiving. We were cautious coming to this place due to the appearance of the outside, but once we were in it was so much fun. Agus, aka rawbartender, was Ah-mazing and truly made the night fun. He was truly such a vibe!! I ordered the SpongeBob, which was Goslings rum, pineapple spice, ginger, lime, angostura bitters. Especially with the show that was put on, my drink tasted even better. It was a Smokey, yet smooth and refreshing drink! We also got the Snow White, on the sweeter side made with Pear vodka, orgeat, pear juice, lemon juice, cinnamon. And of course, we can't forget our schooling in tequila and Mezcal from Agus. He was very informative of what he was serving and we tried a few different shots. He gave us the rundown of how you're actually supposed to taste tequila. And I have to say I've never had an experience like that before. I wish the party didn't stop and I will definitely be coming back specifically for Agus and of course the drinks!

The ambiance is nice cozy , low -moderate lighting ( not to dim ..you can still read the menus without a flashlight... which is nice) We sat at the bar and the seats were very nice and comfortable ( which I enjoyed a lot) and spacious I didn't feel squeezed between chairs/people ! The bartender was fabulous . And made great drinks ! We just got drinks I got the peaches peaches which was pleasantly really good not to sweat or bitter , not to overpowering with peach flavour very well balanced . They also offer small bites / food. I will def be back to try some more options !

I do wish there were more signs, as both the parking lot and the entrance felt a bit vague and easy to miss. Once we finally found our way inside, we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere reminded me of another local tavern. Staffed by friendly people. The food was good, and the overall experience was enjoyable. My only disappointment was the lack of information about the history of the establishment. There is a lot of marketing that references its connection to a jailhouse on the menu, but very little information is actually shared within the tavern itself. I found myself wanting to learn more about the story behind the place. I also think it would be fun to add a photo-op area--perhaps even outdoors--with a set of mock jail bars where guests could take pictures. It would fit the theme and add a memorable touch. The tavern itself is fairly small, so I can imagine it gets quite crowded during busy times. Overall, it's definitely worth checking out.

Delicious!

"This is the rhythm of the night Baby, tonight's like fuego…read more We 'bout to spend the dinero We party to the extremo" (Black Eyed Peas) Our visit to Fuego Mexican Grill today was the result of three simple factors lining up perfectly. #1 - We hadn't had Mexican food in quite a while, so correcting that deficiency was on our radar. #2 - We were already in Cromwell picking up our Travelers Championship volunteer packages. #3 - And for several reasons, we never managed to have an anniversary meal this year. Together, those factors made Fuego the natural choice -- and a very good one. Walking into the dining room, we were struck by how stunning the room was. We saw dozens of ornate red/orange fire burst light fixtures on the ceiling. In fact, the ceiling had more than just light fixtures. It also had long cascading strands of white and pink flower garlands. There were cactus plants on the windowsills and huge murals of Mexican heritage imagery in the dining room, bar, and pretty much everywhere. . Our lunch started off when Valerie brought us a bowl of complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were terrific- a little thicker than others, but salt-free and addictive. The salsa was also very good -not watery and runny, just a little spicy, with plenty of onion, cilantro, and tomato chunks. For our food, we ordered a Traditional Quesadilla ($15.99) - described on the website as "Two flour tortillas, filled with melted cheese and shredded chicken or beef (we went with chicken), Sour cream, Guacamole and pico de Gallo on side" and an order of their Camarones Fuego ($23.99) - "Sauteed garlic shrimps with mushrooms in a spicy sauce. Served with white rice and salad". The food was delicious and the portions were very large. In fact, we took home more than we ate there, so it's almost like "Buy a lunch and get another one for free". My shrimp plate was great. First of all, it was definitely spicy, which was fine with me because I love that. It had a lot of shrimp and mushrooms, and probably more than a cup and a half of rice. The salad was a nice addition to the plate- lightly dressed Romaine, spinach, onions, and Cotija cheese. Valerie was pleasant and efficient throughout our visit. All in all, we really enjoyed our experience at Fuego. Improvement Opportunities I noticed some inconsistencies between their website pricing and descriptions when compared to the actual delivery of the dishes. Specifically, the quesadilla had a lower website price, and the Pico promised on the website was not delivered on our plate. When I asked Valerie if the dish was missing Pico, she confidently said, no... it's not included. Well, your website begs to differ.
