The food here tastes like something you can get at an amusement park or a fair: it's not bad, but seems more like a sideshow than the main feature. I'd say it's slightly better than but comparable to Ivar's fast casual joints and worse than Eliot Bay Brewery's fish and chips. Unfortunately it's priced more like the latter than the former and that along with a portion size that is more than half fries makes this place feel pretty bad for the money. Found this restaurant this one on a humbug. A part of Seattle I've never been around. I was looking for fried fish. I did not want overpriced Ivar's small fish. I came here to try it out. The fish was good. The team working there was very kind and respectful, and helpful. The menu was simple, yet I still needed more help, lol. Funny how that works. I order the fish and chips. It was delicious, and my belly loved it. My co-worker ordered almost every item on the menu to try them out, and I could snack on some items my co-worker ordered to see for myself. Tried this place after a friend's recommendation. We were definitely not disappointed. We ate onsite, everything was clean and bright. The chowder was so good, it had large pieces of clams that were fresh with large chunks of potatoes. The cod and chips were equally good. The fish had a crunchy, not greasy breading and the fries were crispy on the outside but the inside was tender. I've got several things on my list for our next visit! read more

Probably the best fish and chips I've had in Seattle! The wild pacific cod was beautiful and perfectly done - Panko was not too much and tasted excellent. Clam chowder is something I will definitely put on a favorite list. It's made with fresh clams (not the rubbery canned kind!) and large pieces of potato and doesn't cheat by dominating the flavor with too much bacon. Not overly thick or creamy. Cole slaw was fresh and delicious. It's a sweet walk in place that kids will love - for some odd but fun reason they have the free old fashioned candy "Zots" on the counter. They better hope the kids from Eckstein don't find out about those ;) Great, friendly customer service! Direct Online ordering was simple and user friendly. When I moved to Wedgwood, as the previous owner handed me the keys, he said a few words that haunted me: "Wedgwood is a food desert". I thought this can't be real, I'm in the middle of a city. But as the years went by, I realized it was true. While U village, Ravenna, the U district are all nearby, there's not much in Wedgwood proper. Not Just Fish & Chips (NJFChips) is doing its part to change that. While the restaurant may not have ambiance, or decor, or a sign out front, or business hours when it's hotter than 90 degrees out, it delivers very tasty fish and chips with fresh tartar, slaw, and fries that are all very tasty. I appreciate the vinegar, lemon and candy with each order. I hope the restaurant sticks around and adds a nice beautiful permanent sign out front. Even Sophie's tacos has one. P.S. What a great addition to the neighborhood! We ordered a blackened chicken sandwich and a Caesar salad with salmon (will try the fish and chips soon). Our order was ready early. The salad was ok with plenty of salmon. The chicken sandwich was tasty with excellent french fries. It was a solid lunch and we will be back! It's great to see compostable packaging and utensils used here. The salad came in a sturdy covered bowl when a paper clamshell would work just as well. Please give us the option to decline utensils. I am on a mission to find the best COD fish and chips in Seattle. So far, I've eaten fish and chips at Ivars and a couple of places at the Pike Place Market. This was my first order at Not Just Fish & Chips and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the 3-pc cod fish and chips. The fish crust was crispy and did not fall off. When compared to other restaurants, the fish and chips were NOT oily. Fish and chips that are too oily means that you're tasting the oil; not the fish and chips. So far, Not Just Fish & Chips is the best that I've had in Seattle. I haven't tried anything else at the restaurant, but their menu looks interesting. I ate the fish and chips for lunch which filled me up so I could skip eating dinner. read more

This place is so unassuming-looking with its location between a dentist and a subway. But the food is amazing! I think they serve my favorite French fries in Seattle. The fries were still crispy with big crunchy bits on the outside after taking 20 minutes to get home. And the prawns were so good. The tartar and cocktail sauces were perfect, and my meal thoughtfully included coleslaw and a thick wedge of lemon (I hate when places give you dry tiny citrus wedges for your food that you end up struggling to squeeze) I'm so excited to go back for more!! read more

Food is worth a solid 4 stars, however docking due to lack thereof service. Tucked away in a little strip mall in NE Seattle you'd never assume that there would be delicious fried fish n'chips hiding there. We ordered a decent range of dishes. I highly recommend sticking with the fish n'chips with coleslaw. The salmon bisque was rich and thick. We also ordered the blackened salmon salad which looked a little sad but was still okay. The service was weird, there was a lady manning the front but didn't even greet us when we walked in. When I asked if she owned the restaurant she replied that if she did she'd "be at home". Okay fine, whatever, but the lack of friendliness really made decide to take the food home rather than eat there. When our food was packed and ready she basically pushed it out to the edge and left it there. Meh. I'd recommend grabbing a to-go order and taking it to the nearest park on a sunny day. read more

They had a super easy online order and pickup process. The staff was friendly. The location is super convenient for me. I ordered the cod fish and chips. The fish breading was evenly cooked and had a nice color. The fish itself wasn't very tasty, unfortunately. I'm having a hard time pinpointing exactly why I didn't like it. It seemed like maybe the fish was overcooked--it was a bit toothsome and didn't melt in my mouth. I've had takeout fish and chips from other places and recognize that eating it as takeout can slightly decrease the quality, but I don't think that was the issue. Or maybe the fish itself wasn't high quality? I'm not really sure. The fries had a nice texture but were a little oversalted (not a huge deal). The coleslaw was fresh, light, and very tasty. The slaw had just enough sweet/vinegar bite to it and quickly became my new favorite. And I absolutely loved the fries, which I often will just kind of take a few bites of and save those calories for dessert...screw it, in this case the fries WERE dessert, crunchy and perfectly seasoned. Even my 20-year-old picky eating son, who actually enjoys fish & chips better than most anything else, said this is easily one of the best he's tried! One other thing needs mentioning: in a previous review I noticed someone stating that the service was lacking. While I can't speak to someone else's experience, my own was great! I simply could not hope for a friendlier, happier group of people to order from. Wonderful experience and this spot will definitely become part of our regular stops! read more

These are some of the best fish and chips I've had in Seattle, and they're less than a 10 minute walk from me! The fish and chips stayed crispy, even after the walk home. The cod was nice and flaky. Even though I'm not a huge coleslaw fan, I took a bite and appreciated that it wasn't drowning in mayo. The tartar sauce is flavorful without being overpowering. Tried this new place for the first time. It is excellent and we recommend it. Their default order time is 30 min when ordering online. We got there early and it was after lunch time, so it was slow. They were waiting to start cooking our order so it was fresh when we arrived, but they started preparing it early because We were there early. We each tried the two-piece Cod and Chips. We are going back to get that again and try other things (like the shrimp cake and fried chicken sandwiches). The fish breading was beautifully browned, light/thin, and deliciously crunchy. I'd rate the fish a perfect 5/5. The fries had some sort of coating on them and they were perfectly prepared - delicious and another 5/5. Unfortunately the fries didn't go with the tarter sauce too well, but plain or with ketchup was perfect. Each order comes with a separate bag with coleslaw, lemon, tarter and ketchup. The coleslaw was also very good with a great, simple flavor, though just a bit too dry for us. (We ate it happily though.). I'd rate that a 4.5/5. All in all very, very good! Slightly too much food for lunch. I think for dinner some folks may want the 3-piece Cod and Chips. The pieces are not large, but they are perfectly prepared and delicious.
