My friends and I all ordered an appetizer as our meal. They were each around $10, so we expected it to be filling. Not even close. My "nachos" were a few whole tortilla chips, each having a small amount of shredded chicken and cheese, something that wasn't filling or tasty. That with a bud light ended up costing me close to $16, while my waiter was great, I ended up paying close to $20 and still left hungry. Disappointing. read more

Honestly the only reason I'm even giving this three stars is because the bread and dipping oil is amazing. But the rest of the experience was just ridiculous. The ginger ale came as just soda water - when the waitress was told she snapped that it comes from a keg and needed to get changed. After our apps and a lot of waiting, we finally managed to get a new round. When our meals came, one of the burgers had been requested well done. When cut into it was very medium rare. The waitress said 'ok, we will put it back on.' No oops, sorry or anything. About 15 minutes later (the rest of the party is done eating and the burger having not returned), we tell the waitress we don't want the burger. Not two minutes later, some guy comes up with the burger and repeatedly asks the diner if they want the burger (no), if they want the burger wrapped up (no), are you sure you don't want the burger (wtf). The best part? It was the same burger that had initially been ordered - on the same plate, with some new cheese The guy who came over never introduced himself but based on his attire, we assume it was the manager who just swept off with the food after we turned him down. Even the simplest of 'omgosh sorry! Yes, we will get that fixed' would have been fine but disappearing with the air of annoyance and then bringing back THE SAME BURGER a year and a half later was unacceptable. Just a reminder that the service makes the meal. Otherwise, the food was fine. The mustard crusted chicken sandwich was pretty bland (there wasn't enough sauce on it) and the other burger that came to the table was cooked medium rare and the side salad came without any dressing. I love the experience they put up in the restaurant. I like the fresh bread and the olive oil and cheese dip they serve at the table. The service is fabulous, their menu is creative. It just that anything I have tried here didn't click with me. Some things are a little sweet for me, some just lack the punch. read more

Coming into a new establishment, you have to prepare yourself to experience some growing pains, right? Well, we came in on a busy Saturday night and from start to finish it was very evident that this was already a well oiled machine. Impressive! Service was on point, our waitress was VERY attentive and there was plenty of managerial presence (which I like). The food came out timely and almost perfect. Compared to other NYAJ, I found this restaurant to be superior decor wise, we even made a joke that Pier One (used to be there) must of left all there high end furnishings. Our go to joint - NYAJ, and the Nashua location lives up to the name that the other locations have so painstakingly crafted over the years. Friendly, patient staff - it's evident that they are happy that you're visiting their restaurant, and will eat there. The food is carefully and tastefully prepared - from fresh ingredients, the ambience - relaxing, lively - definitely a fine American dining experience in my opinion. read more

Fantastic service, great beers, food needs a bit of work. I had the jambalaya and my wife has the Waldorf salad. We both had the Dan complaint: the chicken in each of them was bland and dry and chewy. With jambalaya especially, the rest of it was so good, the ham and sausages and shrimp, but it felt like cheap filler to put the chicken in there. I have nothing against chicken per se, but this stuff was so bland and uninspired as an ingredient it really brought the mean down. I would come back here to try something else, because it gets such good ratings and it comes highly recommended. The bread and oil dip to start the meal was great, and the atmosphere and service were really top notch, and I also appreciate any place that prominently features good local beers. They are very accommodating with special diets since they make almost everything from scratch, but the waitress said there were admittedly few vegan options besides salads - however their pizza dough is free of animals so you can safely order any pizza covered in veggies without the cheese :) good service and all around good experience :P full bar but they aren't allowed to serve shots which I thought was interesting :3 read more

This is now becoming one of our favorite spots!! The peanut butter dessert thing is crazy good and try the Waldorf Salad with the chicken switched out for the parmesan-crusted chicken from the Mona Lisa with Raspberry Vin. SOoooooo good. We ate here a lot pre-COVID-19 and used to get takeout pretty often, too. This is a review of current takeout in the context of COVID-19. I ordered online through the restaurant -- that platform seems to have improved, which is great. We got the mustard chicken family bundle which says it feeds 4-5 but definitely feeds more. There were about 9 chicken cutlets in that order. Incredible. Very good. That bundle also came with green beans which were great and mashed potatoes. We also got a family size Caribbean buffalo chicken tender order which were devoured but everyone said there wasn't enough sauce so next time we'd request more. We also ordered a loaf of focaccia which was really dry... not like eating it in the restaurant at all. I cut it up and made it into croutons the next day, which worked well. Am not a fan of the new menu. Used to be my favorite place would come for my birthday every year. Took off my favorites like French onion soup, rosemary scallops, butternut squash flat bread. Since my favorites were gone tried the bolognese and was widely disappointed. My boyfriend got a burger with the bun soggy. Drinks and bread have always been good though. Long story short I'll no longer be coming here for dinner or for my birthday and will only come for drinks every once in a while. Very disappointed :( read more

This review is based solely on my experience with the meatloaf. I order meatloaf anywhere that sells it and it almost always sucks. The meatloaf at NYAJ's is a 10 out of 10. Made with beef and pork. It has excellent flavor, it's moist on the inside, and seared on the outside. I was also surprised by the great presentation: sitting atop a pile of mashed potatoes, topped with carrots and a saucy drizzle. When they brought it to the table I did a double take because I thought it was a steak. Unbelievably impressed with this dish. Congrats to NYAJ for mastering what many others cannot. read more

Finally got around to eating at Not Your Average Joe's today after all my friends recommending I go and was wholeheartedly surprised. The bread was nice and warm and the dip was to die for. I got the buffalo tenders to start and am not sure if I will be able to ever eat buffalo tenders from anywhere else again. The enchiladas were also absolutely perfect. Not your average joes. I would definitely agree. 5 minutes before even making eye contact from bartender in a 1/4 full bar. Thai chicken wraps should be called chicken salad wraps, add rice vinegar and cilantro. Same for summer rolls and hard as a rock cold focaccia. Great decor, promise, but needs a serious tune up. I left two of the three wraps in eaten on my plate. The bartender cleared it and never asked if I had a problem with them. Name needs to be changed to Joe's below average. Given the rest of the surrounding choices, I can see why it has 4+ stars. Plus it was nearly $40 for two small apps and two beers. read more

I had a great first experience at Not Your Average Joe's! The food was delicious, waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and they had a good beer selection. I had the pork tenderloin and it was tender. The brussel sprouts that came with the pork were amazing! My husband had the mustard chicken which was also very good. I came in for lunch today on a Sunday and knew from what I've heard that it would be pretty busy, which it definitely was. We were seated immediately though and our waiter who was extremely nice came up and asked about drinks almost as soon as we sat down. We ordered the quesadilla app and my friend ordered the crusted chicken with spinach and sweet potato mash and I had the turkey burger. Before our food came out they brought out a generous portion of bread and oil mix. The oil was DELICIOUS!!! Our waiter told us it was just olive oil, pepper flakes, garlic and Romano cheese but I'm pretty sure it was made with a mixture of crack because I would've gone back just to get more of that bread! (we actually ate 2 baskets of it!!) The quesadilla was good, nothing special but the pineapple salsa that was on top of it was amazing, it really made the dish and I'm not one for fruit salsa's. My friends meal was seriously delicious, fried but still really light and he didn't even need a knife to cut his chicken it was that tender. My meal was mediocre at best, I was really looking forward to it because it had a mediterranean twist on it but ended up being extremely bland and almost raw tasting. I was starving though and I saw that they were really busy, I was going to power through the meal regardless and not send it back. But when our waiter (Jared) came back and asked how everything was I said it was good but mentioned that I would probably not order the turkey burger next time. He was immediately apologetic saying that he didn't want me to eat something that I didn't like and he'd bring something else out for me as soon as possible if I'd like, even after I said it's not a big deal (I hate those people that complain about their meal no matter what) But he insisted and I'm sooooo glad he did. I ended up ordering the goat cheese salad and it was sooo good! The dressing was really good and the goat cheese was fried perfectly so it wasn't too heavy. The food is pretty good and the ambiance is actually really cool but the best part of this restaurant is the wait staff. Jared was super cool and I was really surprised.
