The texture and flavor reminded me more of an instant or prepared cheesecake-style dessert than the rich, slightly tangy cream-cheese flavor I personally associate with cheesecake. I also couldn't really detect much blackberry flavor or fruit in it. I don't necessarily need blackberry seeds, but I would have enjoyed some blackberry pulp, small pieces, or a stronger real-fruit flavor. There was also a piped topping on the cheesecake that I expected to taste like whipped cream, but to me it tasted more like a prepared frosting. Again, that's simply how it tasted to me and others may absolutely prefer this sweeter, smoother style. My biggest disappointment was really the overall first-time experience. When someone says they've never been to a business before and asks for a recommendation, I think that's a great opportunity to introduce them to what you're most proud of or what customers order most often. We chose a savory breakfast sandwich, an Almond Croissant and another sweet pastry. In line, the offered to heat our sandwich which we allowed. Then we ordered coffees, paid and sat down. A few minutes later, we walked back up to collect our coffees. The breakfast sandwich was tasty, though the ham and cheese in the center of the sandwich was untouched by the heating process. Next time, we'll ask for a longer heating cycle. The pastries were good. Not as good as made that morning in Paris, but better than most places we've been in the US. We also took some dessert pastries home for later that same night. My wife's was sort of ho-hum but mine was fabulous. I had what I guess would be a cro-nut?? Sort of like a doughnut that was made in layers of pastry, then cut out with a donut cutter. It had a filling in the center and had a sugary coating. SO GOOD!
