Italian (add mayo) with chips and a diet pepsi!

When you walk in, you can tell that this café is going to be fantastic! Makes me think about the deli I used to go to all the time when I lived outside of the city. Great service, even better food, and reasonably priced! Cozy, no frills, great food. Def. felt at home while I worked on some school work before I went to teach my class. I'll be stopping back for the potato soup that the chef was talking about! Thank you for such a fantastic experience, making me feel welcome, and a delicious meal before class!

Not good, not bad, just so, so. The food was okay, the environment needs an overhaul.

2ND BEST REUBEN IN PITTSBURGH…read more My buddy Hunter has told me about this spot for at least half a year now and I finally made it Inside is like the most basic small town deli you'd expect with 2 tables and two small ones by the windows. Insane amount of chip options and for whatever reason Pepperidge Farms cookies. Wish they had homemade ones or local bakery because one with this meal would be perfect Macaroni Salad. I was a huge fan of this because it was SUPER light in mayo and not overpowering in the slightest. It could use a little more salt though. 7/10 Potato Leek. Fucking awesome but needed pepper. 8/10 Spicy Italian. Just boar's head meat, a SOLID house Italian on BreadWorks. 6.5/10 Reuben. LETS GO. BreadWorks marble rye, solid corned beef/thousand island and sauerkraut. The bread was cooked with the perfect amount of butter that when you press in you get the flood gates. I will always complain about not enough meat on a Reuben. Same thing here. 9/10 Absolutely worth the try if you are within 15min of this spot or passing through for the Reuben and quick lunch sandwiches I don't think I'll ever go back because Marshall's Reuben still shits on this

One more try next time I am in the area and that will be the tell. I feel like everyone raises their prices because of the economy, when it's really not, but I actually want what I am paying for. If that is how much you need, to cover the cost of my food, okay. But I am not pay more and getting much, much less. And that's what it seems. If you need to add ~double meat Additional $2 then do it. Don't skimp on toppings. That is why we are here!

It's a proper neighborhood butcher shop on Butler Street, the kind of place that had mostly disappeared around here. They do whole animal butchery with meat sourced from local Pennsylvania farms, and you can feel how much the folks working there care about what they're doing. It's not a huge space, just a display case full of cuts, a wall of house made goods, and a small sandwich menu, but that's part of the charm. The staff were friendly and happy to point me in the right direction. The sandwiches are what really got me though. The smash burger is fantastic, a double patty on a challah bun with that special sauce, and you can actually taste the quality of the beef, which makes sense given the whole operation is built around good meat. I also grabbed some of their house made pastrami, and it did not disappoint, tender and full of flavor. Knowing everything is made in house, right down to the bacon and sausages, makes it even better. If you live nearby and don't have a butcher yet, this is the one.

Love the decor in the shop. There were many prepared food options in the fridge, as well as various cuts of meat/preparations of it. We got two sandwiches, the cheesesteak and the marbella. I dont think we ended up with the correct order because we didn't end up with a cheesesteak, but did not realize until we got home. I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Looking forward to coming back and trying everything they have to offer.

We waited about an hour for our food which was kind of frustrating but they were absolutely slammed. Our server even brought us a second plate of bread and oil to make up for it (which we appreciated)! The food was worth the wait! Loved heirloom pasta and gnocchi w/ meatballs were delicious as well!! We also got tiramisu for dessert (not pictured) yeah, no. The mascarpone was dense and I believe they used cake instead of the ladyfingers. It genuinely pretty bad and I wouldn't get it again which sucked because tiramisu is my go to dessert (also pretty pricey for the portion we got). At that said, I will be back to try other dishes!

For some reason, I had a feeling that something was amiss regarding this dining experience. I made…read morethe reservation on RESY and we were set. We got to the restaurant, approached the podium, I expressed the reservation and was told that they did not have one for me. We were asked to sit in the penalty box until they were able to find a table. We were fortunate and were seated. Our server was great. Very personable, helpful with the menu, made recommendations, etc. We ordered cocktails, which were very good. We then placed our order for dinner. My spouse had the beans and greens which were found to be quite good. I had the house salad which was also very good. For an entree, Bo ordered CACIO E PEPE and I ordered, BUCATINI all'AMATRICIANA. This is where we started to descend into food limbo. The cacio e pepe was flavorless with as little pepper as possible. So few, in fact that you could accurately count them. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. My entree was another disappointment. In the description, it states: "Bucatini Pasta, Guanciale, San Marzano Tomatoes, Pecorino Romano" Now, can any of you, off the top of your heads, tell me what Guanciale is? Guanciale just happens to be, an Italian cured meat made from pork jowl or cheek. Its name comes from guancia, the Italian word for cheek. It is rubbed with salt, black pepper, and spices, then aged for several weeks, creating a rich meat with a high fat content that is prized for flavoring classic pasta sauces. In my entree they were small cubes, meat-like, and one side of each cube was burnt to a crips, solid black and real crunchy. It gave the whole dish a burnt taste. Not the best. For dessert, Bo ordered the Banana Sundae Cheesecake. I bet you thought it tasted like bananas. Nope. It tasted like cheesecake. I passed on dessert. My choice was determined by the quality of my entry. Atmosphere. There are some restaurants, these days, where you have to raise your voice to talk to one another. Here we had to literally scream but still not be able to hear one another. It's all too common now to forego a suspended tile ceiling and carpet on the floor, which absorbs the sound. This was absolutely the loudest dining establishment I was ever in. Looking around, it seemed that most people have bought into the notion that this is as good as it gets when it comes to dining ambiance. Look, I'm old school and this just didn't cut it for us. There certainly are a lot who love the restaurant and grade it accordingly. I'm just not one of them. Bon appetit!
