I am so happy and lucky I work so close to this place. This is on my top 5 for sushi places. I have 3 go to favorite rolls here. Tuna revenge, bill gates and La Jolla roll. The tuna revenge is my #1. Have you ever had a sushi roll with a spicy cilantro sauce?! Life changing. This place is hidden in the back, behind the L&L barbecue. It's small and gets filled up quickly. I definitely recommend calling ahead on the weekends for a table. I think it's strictly outdoor seating only right now. The service is a bit or miss. I've had experiences where everything is perfect and I've had experiences where I don't receive what I ordered or asked for. You kind of have to ask for things more than once in order to get it. After eating some spicy tuna rolls from here, I got bad stomach cramps in the morning. I used to eat sushi every week and have never been sick. I work right next door and it always smells amazing. I've finally tried it and it is my new favorite place in the plaza, even better than Regeant's Pizza or L&L. We got the pink panda, spicy imitation crab roll, and black garlic ramen. Everything tasted amazing but the ramen stood out above the rest. The broth was the best broth I've tried at a restaurant the noodles were cooked well too. Oh and it comes with a lot of toppings. The pink panda replaces rice with crab meat I think and it was delicious. I liked the texture and the sauce it comes with paired very well. The service was very good too. Tried this restaurant because its convenient and close to UCSD. I tried the chicken teriyaki and chicken karaage bento boxes and vegetable yakisoba. The bento boxes were nicely portioned with rice, protein, salad, miso soup, and 4 pieces of california roll. The prices for the bento boxes were reasonably priced. The california rolls were average, but the salad dressing that comes with the salad had great flavor. The portions for the miso soup were inconsistent. Between the containers of soup, one was way saltier than the other. The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The chicken teriyaki , however, was on the drier side. I was skeptical about ordering the yakisoba because of the previous reviews regarding the flavor of the sauce. The sauce was on the sweeter side with a bold ketchup taste. It was alright but gave my tastebuds a surprise. Came during lunch hour. It was busy. I was standing by the door for a few until a server saw me and said I should sit at the table by the door. The table was for 8. He brought water fairly quickly but took awhile to take my order. They were busy I get it. They brought me miso soup and as I was eating they ask me to move to a small table bc more people are coming in. I'm not unreasonable but this is mildly annoying considering I could've been sat somewhere else from the start. Anywho, after 26 mins I asked the server where my food was. This is place seems to be underrated, and it's no surprise because honestly, I became a regular here thanks to my work place across the street, and not because I knew or heard about it. But we're here now, and you're hearing about it! First off, they have a really great selection of food to choose from as their menu includes sushi, ramen, curry, & more. Also, they work with a local certified nutritionist (Mike from MikeFit) to ensure their menu is providing value not only to your taste buds, but to your health and body too! Among my coworkers and I, we've tried nearly everything, and we just keep coming back for more. In general, we'd have ramen on rainy days, sushi rolls for happy hour or with drinks, and the rest for when we need fuel - portions are generous, but with purpose! I don't feel heavy or in need of a food coma nap, if you know what I mean. Second, the location is quite nice. You can sit inside to be close to the action of the kind chefs, or sit outside on their covered patio that is pretty large. There's also a giant screen that usually plays a sport you'd want to be watching at the moment. It's interesting bc the setting can be fitting for a romantic date bc of the nice use of lights, or be fitting for just hanging out with your work peeps or friends. I like eating sushi always. And what I love more is that different places making different rolls. Even the same type of rolls, different chefs make them slightly different. I love that. This place definitely has a very unique roll we never saw before - Samurai Roll which has a tons of red onion on the top. It's really interesting. I mean if you like red onion, you will like it. But for me, I don't eat raw onion so I couldn't enjoy it. I really like my Girls Night roll. And their vegetables tempura is delicious, it's not on the menu tho, you can ask for it. Great place to come for HH! They have various specialty rolls for 30% off which is what we mainly had. The rolls were all very delicious. We opted to sit in the patio area and while it was pretty warm when we walked to the restaurant, there was a nice breeze in the patio. They had a big projection tv on with a channel showing a tennis game. There was also some background music that wasn't super loud or obnoxious. They have an outdoor patio that seems to be the primary dining area. Its covered and nice and spacious. Got lights and music for ambiance. Got the famous chirashi salad which is similar to the Hwe dup bap in some Korean places. It was a very generous portion and very good. Lots of fresh seafood mixed with greens. Seems like this place was made for the pandemic! Even before COVID the dining was mainly outdoors under a main canopy. It has a very nice homey atmosphere and I love their chirashi salad! Chirashi bowls tend to be on the pricier side, but the 3/4ths portion is perfect to share with someone and is more affordable compared to other places. The service is also very nice here and the staff is especially friendly. The main downside to this place is the AWFUL parking. During precovid times the lot is tiny, and always full. You would also need to get validation for that parking lot. The bathroom is also in a shady corner behind the building. Other than the technically things like this, I don't have any complaints about anything else. read more

I like this place, it is consistent and fairly price. I have come here a few times and never had an issue. The quality of the fish is good and they have a good variety of Japanese food too: Tempura, Katsu and Ramen. Make sure you make reservations if you are coming with a large group because the place is small and it can get crowded. Parking is limited so try to carpool if you can. read more

Best sushi place in La Jolla hands down! I love stopping by to grab a quick lunch on the weekdays since I work in La Jolla. The quality of everything is amazing and the portions reflect the price. I always walk away satisfied after eating at Nozomi. The service is spectacular, contrary to previous posts. The owner and her family work really hard and their dedication shows through the quality of their food. I also have to commend Dante, a lead server, for his wonderful customer service and positive personality. I always feel so welcome when I'm there and I get the sense other customers also feel the same way as well. Everyone at Nozomi is genuine and enjoy making their customers happy. Nozomi's chirashi bowl (or hwae dup bap in korean) is great value. The ingredients are all really fresh and they give you a LOT. All the fresh fish, veggies, rice, and the spicy gochujang sauce mixed together is so so good. I've honestly only tried the chirashi at this place and I don't think I'll try anything else because it's so good. I think the lower reviews might be because the service can be slow because they desperately need to hire more servers. *shady restaurant review* I visited a few weeks ago and had dinner with my sister here. The food was pretty good but I left my credit card at the restaurant (I know my bad). I called the next day to confirm that they had it and the lady on the phone was very nice and said that it was there and I could pick up anytime. I live about an hour away so I was planning on a day to go down and get it. Over the span of a week of them confirming it was at their restaurant, my card was charge $70 at a local liquor store and then later that day another $1500 was charged. I called them to ask what was going on...the man on the phone said "dang that crazy" and when I suggested they do a internal check of their staff to see who was being shady he responded by saying "yeah, I don't know what to tell you but it's pretty busy here I gotta go" I don't expect them to go out of their way to get me my card back, that's on me. But I do expect them to not charge my card.... Fair warning. If you want decent sushi go here, but do not make the human mistake of leaving your card. I have never been treated this way before at a restaurant. I used to always dine here prior to covid19. I have dietary restrictions in my family so instead of the teriyaki sauce with my 3 orders of to go of Hamachi Kama, I asked for wasabi. When I went to pick up my to go, there was 3 cups of miso soup with my meal. I doubled checked and asked if there was wasabi. She proceeded to open up each of my food containers in an unsterile cash register counter, breathe on all of my food as there is a COVID19 pandemic going on. On top of that she took out all the miso soup, lectured me for a good 10-15minutes telling me that she should've charged me for the wasabi, how my meal isn't a real meal so I should be grateful they gave me miso soup. How rolls are not meals either and do not come with miso soup. I had just gotten off an 11 hour work shift and all I wanted was some to go with wasabi. read more

The 3/4 size was perfect for my friend and I. We tossed the salad and it was as delicious as it looked. We ordered the San Diego Veggie Roll whic was the different radishes and cucumbers making it crunchy and didn't conflict with the salad.
