We could not be happier with Lauren and the rest for the service we received this morning. Day started rough with a tire stem torn off and a flat tire. I changed it and drove to them on the recommendation of someone nearby. We pulled in and were met in the parking lot, the representative who immediately offered help to us. They listened to what happened and understood. They were a great relief to what could have been a very bad start to the day. I cannot recommend them enough. They are who I would go to in the future, for tires and service. We are very happy with the results, and would recommend them to anyone. read more

i frantically rushed in about 20 minutes before closing, with a leaking tire. I had to be somewhere for work at 6am, and they stayed open late to find out what was causing my problem. a leaky valve stem. i am a chemo patient, with a low immune system, and they took extra care to keep my car interior clean! a service technician had a manager pull it in and out of the bay for me. while waiting, the most friendly person that I have met in a long time talked to me and calmed me down on a very stressful and upsetting day. The tire issue was just the icing on the cake. Bob Barker! just like the late game show host. I won't take my car anywhere else! Big thank-yous to the excellent staff!!! read more

Drove over a nail, and immediately heard the difference as I was driving down the road. I didn't know it was a nail at first, but knew something was going on with the tire. I looked for the closest tire place, and this was less than a mile away. I did see the 2 star rating, but really didn't have a choice. Called up and asked if someone could just look at the tire. They agreed, I drove the 0.8 miles there, and when I parked, the nail happened to be right in the front, easily seen. Because it was later in the day, I could not be helped right then and there, and made the earliest appointment they had available for the following day at 1pm. Went home and parked it. The next day, I went out to check the tire at 8am, and it was clear the tire was losing air. Decided at noon to just bring it in early, at least get it there, before it went completely flat. By this time, I had read the reviews, and most people were complaining of long wait times, so I was expecting a long wait time. At the counter, I gave them the info and my keys, knowing my appointment wasn't for another hour. I was told it would be a 2 hour wait, from my appointment time, for it to be done, meaning, I was not looking to get out of there until 3pm. Decided to go sit down in a restaurant and have something to eat, and took my sweet time about it. Eventually, I walked back to NTB, and arrived at 1:39pm. I knew I had about another hour and a half to wait. When I turned the corner to the front of the building, there was my car, in the exact same spot I parked it. I thought, 'Wow, they haven't even moved it', and remembered the reviews. But, as I got closer, I realized, there was a new tire on there. I had not received a phone call telling me it was done, so I was very surprised, and very happy. They had my tire done in a half an hour after my appointment time. That was beyond my expectations, and it allowed me to get back to work far earlier than I was anticipating. Everyone there was hospitable, the front desk girl was very friendly. Aside from running over a nail, this was a very pleasant experience. I will go back there to get another front one in the very near future, and then eventually the back ones done, since all 4 tires needed to be replaced, anyway. read more

Made an appt to get new tires. It took over an hour for my car to be moved from the parking lot. Original wait estimate was 1.5 hours, I was there over 2.5 which is ridiculous to switch out tires. The guy at the desk was nice but you shouldn't give out appointment times if I'm going to wait an hour before my car is even glanced at or moved. Another person waiting said it had been an hour & a half & they just needed an oil change -When mask mandates were state wide they didnt enforce masking & 2 different customers walked in, waited, sat, walked around & never had a mask on. They have a sign on their door that says you must wear a mask, & then don't enforce it. read more

My dad was visiting from out of town and needed new tires and an alignment before going home. NTB was cheaper, but unfortunately they seem to do very shoddy work. First, when they did the alignment they failed to make sure the steering wheel was straight. Not sure if they even did a road test, because you'd think if they did they'd realize they screwed up. Then when we got home my dad took off a hubcap and there was a lug nut missing! How can a tire place forget to put all the lug nuts on?! Luckily my dad realized it before he drove back to PA! I'll never go here, and I'd recommend if you value quality work, please go somewhere other than NTB! read more

I'm really surprised at the amount of negative reviews for this NTB location. I visited this location last week and the guys were very friendly and courteous. I replaced both my front tires and did an alignment but noticed that my car was pulling to the left. I called NTB back and they told me to come back in, which I did and they realigned it free of charge. It was a good experience and will definitely recommend them to others. read more

PSA TO LADIES: do not go here (unless you know about cars) without bringing a man. they tried to charge me $600 for 2 tires. when I compared prices online I found I could easily got them for over $100 less somewhere else. There was a man in front of me in line and the guy working asked him questions about what oil he wanted etc that they did not ask me (He didn't know so it was clearly because he was a man and not because he was knowledgeable about cars). they will do their best to rip you off. AVOID THIS PLACE, THEY WILL OVERCHARGE!! I came in last Sun for only an oil change for the first time with them. I normally go to Leith Nissan but wanted a change.The guy told me he noticed I had premium oil already in the car and they have a premium lackage for $45 or $60...I just wanted the $20 option off the website but unknowledged decided to keep using premium and went with the $45 option. An hour and 15 min later he calls me back to the podium to tell me my battery us about to die and it needs replacing ASAP and I shouldnt risk it with the weather getting colder. How much for it with my upcharged oil change..... ......$248!! I sooo reluctantly said okay as I was freezing, it was raining and I was ready to leave at that point but knew I didn't want to be caught on the side of the road in the future. He said Okay, give us about 15-20 min to do it and you'll be set. Another 40 min passes and he says the only batteries they have in the back won't fot my car and I'll have to drive to some Interstate Battery shop to get it done for the same price quoted..........How about no! I paid $75 for an oil change that took 2 hours with only me and an older lady waiting SMH I couldve went to Walmart or back to Nissan. My car isn't showing the signs of battery slowing down but I called around and found a MUCH cheaper deal with free installation. I use NTB as one of 2 car shops regularly (this ones near my home, the other close to work). Front desk staff have always been nice and easy to work with. They take time to answer my questions, and much of their advice has been seconded by the other (not NTB) car shop I use. They even helped educate me when I had a dispute with Honda over a manufacturing issue, which I would have been completely lost without. I see a few comments about "up selling", I generally expect car shops to offer additional services just like any other business, the test is if they're fully transparent on what's definitely needed and the additional benefits of the add on. A week ago I took my car in to get a tire patched and oil change. They thought there may have been an oil leak, and asked if I could come in when their head technician was in to really inspect. I just left the shop today with a $0 bill as the leak was very minor. He just gave me a heads up to check on next service and an FYI of cost to fix if I wanted to in future. NOT the behavior of a car shop just trying make a buck off me. read more

I waited 4 hours to get two new tires and an oil change even with an appointment. They never told me it would take that long, I was told it would be 2 hours so I stayed and waited - which should be plenty of time to get 2 new tires and an oil change. The oil change sticker in the car was poorly filled out with no mileage number left on it for when my oil was due next, even the type of oil on the sticker was incorrect. Trash was left in my car. This was the worst experience I have ever had, I will never bring my business here again. read more

Another stellar service by the folks at this location. It's right near my office, so it's my go-to for last minute and emergency fixes. After having my car inspected only to find I needed two small fixes, I went to two different auto places yesterday. I must say as a woman I felt very condescended to in both of those places. Walked in here today to ask for one of the fixes I couldn't do to be done and they got my car in and done by early afternoon. Didn't try to upsell me anything , didn't condescend to me , but gave me great service. Jack at the front desk is a gem! Always helpful, always professional, always responsive. read more

Originally made the appointment online, got there for my appointment and everything was smooth. I explained to them that I had been in a car accident and needed my alignment checked/corrected and that I needed 2 new tires because the front 2 were damaged from the alignment being off. They said no problem - gave me 2 new tires, moved the ones from the back to the front, installed the new ones on the back. Took about 2 hrs - which is what I expected. No big deal. Drove off and the car wasn't driving quite right, but I thought maybe it was just that the tires needed to be broken in a little - they were new. I don't know. But it never got better - so then I assumed, well maybe it's more damaged than just the alignment - I was thinking axle or hub bearing. So I made an appointment with the Hyundai dealership to have them take a look at it. Surely NTB wouldn't have screwed me over by not actually doing what I paid them to do, right?! WRONG! I just had to buy 2 more tires and have my car aligned today at the dealership because they never did the alignment. They put the new tires on and didn't fix the alignment which means that the 2 they put on the front were ruined. I'm pissed. I had to spend 1/2 of the day sitting at the dealership while they diagnosed and fixed the issue. Had to pay for 2 more tires I wouldn't have needed to pay for, plus another alignment and balance of the back tires that NTB put on. I'm not out DOUBLE the amount of money it should've cost because it wasn't done right the first time. read more

If you want to spare yourself 4+ trips back everytime you have something done then don't buy tires from NTB. Customer service is kind of shitty to as they think customers don't understand anything I bought 4 tires here just over a year ago. One of the tires had a constant high speed wobble and it took me 5 trips back to the store to finally get them to admit that the tire was not able to be balanced and replace it. Here we are, a whole 6 months later. I ran over something and got a flat in the tire I had replaced. They replaced the tire for free, charged me for lifetime balancing, a one time balancing of the tire, and alignment. They did not align the tire, and did not balance it. . read more

I should have yelped it first. Made a appointment on a Saturday for mid day Monday. I left work early to have my tires changed got there and no tires. Ok things happen. They ordered tires from Florida and said they would be $280 out the door. So I left work again early to have the tires installed and when I went in the tires were there. Good The guy said ok sign here I looked at the total and it said $417. So I thought it was a typo try again so to say I left with no tires and went to pep boys as I should have in the first place. The sign out front currently says Merchant's Tire & Auto Centers but I saw a notice indoors that they will be changing their name to NTB- National Tire & Battery in fall 2015. They helped me out of a jam and I have never felt so at-ease dealing with a car issue. I went the whole day not realizing I had a flat tire until late in the afternoon so my choices of where to go were very limited since I still had to wait an hour for AAA to change it out for my spare. Most tire shops advertised being open until 5-6pm. Merchants's/NTB's stood out because they were open until 8pm. Here's what turned my car woe frown upside-down. When I called, they sounded busy but they were still able to fit me in. They did not make me schedule an appointment, they were fine with me showing up within that hour since I still had to wait for the tow truck. During my check in, they took a look at my flat tire and were confident that it could be patched and that is exactly what they did. I am a bit of a pessimist when it comes to dealing with mechanics so I always prepare myself for the dreaded phone call telling me that I need more than what I came in for, but, nope, they did not try to sell me new tires or any other services. The wait was long, but also expected as a last minute drop in. I left as a very pleased customer. While I was there, I noticed a promotion for "buy two tires get two free with purchase of an installation package" (a limited time offer). My great experience and seeing that they have promos will keep them in my mind for when I do need new tires. I will update my review accordingly when that time comes! read more

Came at 6:30 to pick the car up paid for the job. not even 5min down the road I turned around because they called me and said nothing was done to my car. Waste of your time!!!!!! I had an appointment at 8am. I was told that I would be about 2 hours. I did not get out of there until noon. Around 10am (the time they'd estimated that they'd be done with the oil change and new tires) they came out and told me that I needed new brakes and it would be another $500+. I asked them to just do the oil change and new tires and I'd deal with the brakes, alignment etc later as it was getting really late and way more than I had budgeted for. The place was unkempt. There was stuff all over the floors. There was a Keurig machine but no coffee or cups. There was no toilet paper in the ladies room (which having been there so freaking long, I had to use) The guys that work there seem nice. To make up for the fact that I was there for 4 hours for an oil change and 2 new tires, they gave me a coupon for a free oil change, but I'm not sure that I'll use it as I don't want to wait that long again. I have been asked to tell my story for others to learn. I brought my car to NTB for an oil change and a sound diagnosis. Four hours later (yes 4-ugh) my hybrid automobile had two dead batteries (hybrid and electric). What are the chances of THAT? I find later from the dealer who inspected the car that the oil change was done incorrectly. The mechanic who lucked up and bought my dead shell of a car corrected the oil change and my was back to normal. NTB local and NTB Corporate accepts no responsibility for any of this. Te reviews about them upselling and scamming seem accurate. My wife had a puncture in the same complex and took it over there. They told her it could not be plugged (doubtful), add in a hidden warranty and extras fees on the one tire, tried to upsell her on all new tires (less than 10k on the ones she has) and told her she needed a new cabin air filter - which I REPLACED LAST WEEK! She called them out on it and they stammered out some lies about "the wrong ticket". She found out later from co-workers that they are legendarily TERRIBLE! Find someplace else! Rip Off!!! Go somewhere else Just another auto company that sells you more than you need. I went in for a tire patch and brake inspection. The nail was in the middle of the tire and they said I needed a new tire, saying the nail was at the curve. I declined and got a patch at a different auto place. I asked for new brake pads and they installed pads and shoes at more than twice the amount I expected. They add on shop fees, not included in any estimate they may provide. I hoped for a rebate of $60, as discussed with the NTB rep, and it wound up being $30. read more

I'd give the ntb shop on Hillsborough rd, Durham, Nc a zero if I could. Went in to get my brakes done and they sound worse then when I brought the car in!! For $700 that's completely unacceptable. Went back to the site multiple times so they could try an fix whatever they did and sat there for several hours each time for them to not have a solution. The manager Scott nor his technician know what they're doing, found out they fired the technician that did my brakes the next day so they know somethings wrong. Trying to get my money back now an corporate is giving me the run around. Antonio of customer service hung up on me after I refused to go back there for a 4th time. apparently the refund has to be approved by somebody parked behind a desk and will take ATLEAST 48 hours to find out if you are even going to get a refund. Not impressed to say the least. Technician insulted my lack in maintenance and scoffed when I said "I want to get out of here as cheaply as possible." A little background on me: I'm certainly no car buff but I'm not dumb. I travel over and hour and a half commute to school and I just have this car to put miles on it. I'm not interested in $150 tires. I told the technician that I was on a tight budget and that I didn't have any extra money for other services that day. He gave me a promise time of an hour and a half. So I went on my merry way and got lunch and studied for the amount of time. When I got back to the shop I saw I had a voicemail from them. They were asking if I wanted my brakes serviced..... I had already had this conversation with the first person.... so I went in side and declined the services and they told me they hadn't put the tires on because they were waiting to hear from me. So I waited another 45 minutes for them to put the tires on. They should have listened to what I asked for.... and don't offer a promise time and not have the car ready. Not going back. Went in for a cheep oil change and in their inspection they pulled off the air intake, broke it ( it was real old) and did nothing about it. That night at 3 in the morning I got a call from my son. Car won't start. In the rain I inspected found the air intake was torn and duct taped it, problem solved. I went to NTB on Walnut St. in Cary today, Saturday, 7/29/17. The deal was conventional oil change, top off fluids and rotate tires for $20. The young lady at the desk was very nice. I told them i didn't need the truck back until 5 pm. (Dropped it off at 12:30. It was done by 2:45). The guy who checked me out was nice. HOWEVER, having experienced this before at another auto place, I marked my tires so I could be assured the tire rotation was done. When i picked it up, I confirmed that THEY DID NOT ROTATE THE TIRES. Making me even angrier was the fact that the invoice stated that they did. So, I drove the truck right to the front door. The same checkout person came out. I told him about the rotation, and he said, "well, i saw them removing the lug nuts". Then the guy who apparently did the oil change came out, and was asked if he rotated the tires. He said "yes". I said no you didn't and I explained how i had marked the tires. He just walked away!! The checkout guy offered to do it then...and I just said "no thanks", and left. I had a problem there a couple of years ago, but i can't remember what it was. I highly recommend NOT bringing your business to this place! If they had simply forgotten to do the rotation I would have been a bit understanding. But including it on the checklist on the invoice, AND THEN LYING TO MY FACE ABOUT IT, having NOT performed the work is more than just wrong!!! read more

I changed four tires of my 2013 Camry here. The tire service and the price was good. However, They broke my door knob! Took them 10 days to replace it! I had to enter my car from passenger side for 10 days! After they replaced the door knob, they totally messed up my car lock and alarm system! and refused to repair it so I have to pay $600 to dealer to fix it. Don't go to this place! read more

O, boy, was this a disappointment! Yesterday, I came in and Dylan was terrific, diagnosing the tire problem, ordering a replacement, and setting things up so I could come in today and quickly swap out the spare for the new tire (ovet $300!). It took more than an hour to do that simple swap. And then, I found the spare in the back, not put into the spare carrying container. So the tech was lazy! Management didn't check the work. Now, I wonder if I can trust tgis replacement at all. I can no longer recommend this shop. Planning to go to another shop to have this work checked. read more

I got a coupon for an cheap oil change and tried them out. While there, they pointed out that I also needed two new tires. (Almost bald, so it was a good catch). Unfortunately, they also told me I needed an alignment and wanted me to get that done that day. I was driving to my parent's house that afternoon and took the car to the auto mechanic that has been servicing it for the last ten years. They checked it out and said I didn't need an alignment. Can't help but think NTB was trying to tack on an unnecessary service when they saw a young woman walk into the shop. read more

We have been taking our cars here for 14 years. It used to be a great place. In the last few years it has really gone downhill. Our latest experience prompted me to write this review. The person we interacted on this day was extremely rude. Walked away twice while checking us in without a word to even say excuse me. Got into a lengthy phone conversation rather than just putting them on hold. When I just took my key and walked out, his explanation was he treats all customers the same. Just more reason not to go here if he will walk away like that from everyone! The other person checking people in seemed to have his act together as I overheard his conversations. The new manager came out after I fumed asking what they could do to make it right. I gave them a chance but no compensation for anything that happened. No addressing his rude employee and no discount off the bill (other than the oil discount which they were giving everyone since it was on sale). Car was scheduled for a 2pm oil change, at 5 the manager said they would have it absolutely done by 6pm as they were adjusting brakes and filter change too. Walked in at 6 and there are 5 people waiting on cars. At 6:30 I get the keys and find that they have deactivated the keyless ignition and can't figure out how to turn it on as well as did not reset the maintenance required light for the oil change. The new manager has his work cut out for him. I'd love to go back here since we have had good experiences with NTB/Merchants (same company) for years and the location is convenient but honestly I don't trust them with the car now. We have had instances in the past 2 years where the tie rod pin was not put in so one front time literally was pointing 90 degrees from the other side and a gas filter was duct taped into place after a repair. Just not who I want working on my car. I'm hoping the Kildaire Road location is better. read more

I made an appointment for my car to get an oil change and tire rotation here last month. I arrived at 9 Monday morning - they had no record of my appointment but said they'd squeeze me in. Three hours later with my car was still on the lift, I was given an estimate for the thousands of dollars in service they wanted to also do on my car. I gave two stars because they did alert me to a couple legit issues on my car, but they tried to sell me on services that I didn't need and weren't the correct fix for the problem. I took my car into the dealer afterward and they confirmed that many of the things NTB tried to sell me were completely unnecessary. AND they completely missed the almost dry-rotted out brake lines that did need to be replaced ASAP. Skip this place. read more

I had an appointment to go and use the sale they had going on where you buy 2 tires and the second 2 are free. I went and after I got done I realized I paid full price for my tires. Apparently the guy at the desk early in the day forgot to tell me that the tires I wanted where not part of the sale. This is literally the only reason I went to this place! I also was supposed to get a call when they were done which they said would be 2 hours, but it never came. I called after 4.5 hours and they said it was ready. I'm wondering how long it was ready for?? I hadn't driven my car since and then as soon as I drive it my TPMS light comes on. This means something is Wrong with my tires. At this point I'm pissed! Now I'm back here again after having paid too much and waited too long and the guy says it will take a few hours coz it's a Saturday. I'm so over it! It's not my damn fault that y'all messed up!
