Plenty of room is dedicated to the Hyatt's in house restaurant just past the entry check in area of the hotel. Lighting is dim and seating is comfortable. Good space between other tables and not overly crowded. Plenty of staff here (unlike the front desk). Delicious food and warm tea made it a winning spot to go after a long day with a cousin just in from out of town. Appreciated the late hour not feeling rushed or hurried. Nicely located just off the Lobby. First of all, I must say the service was outstanding! Our waitress was incredibly nice and standing right close by to meet our every need. I wish I had saved the bill to get her name. So, the food... The Clam and Corn chowder was VERY good. It wasn't too thick like most places prepare and had a goodly about of clams with food flavor. The downside, though was the price. $9 for a small CUP of soup?!?! This cup had to be less than 6 ounces. If I'm ordering a bowl of soup that costs $9, then I want a BOWL of soup worth $9. If you afford this dish, then it's worth a try, but I would again. The small, side salad was also very good and just the right amount. I didn't order anything else, but my guest ordered the Shortrib burger and it looked awesome! And big! So, I'm going with *** based on the soup. Sorry, but this needs to be fixed. Nice open atmosphere for a hotel restaurant. Perfect area for a business meeting: they also have a nice cozy bar. Tuesday afternoon staff was very friendly and allowed me to sit wherever I pleased. Was going to give them 4 stars, but after ordering, it took over 30 minutes for me to get a turkey burger (the place was not busy at all and I was eating alone), so I downgraded it to 3 stars. There was a lady seated next to me who actually waited 20 minutes to just put her order in! That being said, when my burger came, they gave me a salad instead of fries, but the salad was actually pretty good and they apologized for the miscommunication (however, it took another 25 minutes for the fries to come out!); like what are they doing in the kitchen?! I can see that there is only 1 table waiting for food (the lady next to be who ordered the turkey burger as well), so why is it so difficult to throw some fries in the fryer? Anyway, the turkey burger was actually amazing and so I added a star back on to the review; it is organic ground turkey with a cranberry sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun. Sooooo delicious, though it was a little dry and could have used a little more sauce; I ended up using the balsamic dressing from my salad to moisten it up. But let's pause for a moment because when I asked for ketchup in anticipation of my fries, they brought out ketchup packets?! And where are my fries anyway?! I'm writing this as I'm eating and I'm going to be finished my meal before they come out! That's it, I'm taking a star off again! When the fries finally came, it was the biggest plate of fries I've ever seen! This place definitely has a number of problems, so be patient. In review, if you are stuck in the hotel with no car and you have a ton of time, then the food is worth it. My turkey burger was $15, but other things on the menu are way more expensive so be careful. P.s. sorry this was such a long review, but I really had nothing better to do while I waited forever for my food. read more

So overpriced! I did like the short rib burger- very tender and juicy. The shallot Jan was really good. I had no bun so I was able to add sauce as I wanted- the chipotle mayo is a little much so I'm glad it was on the side. The creme brûlée's portion was huge but it was also $9. It was pretty cold- I feel like it should be room temp or a little warmer the waitress was kind but service is slow since she was the only waitress working. I didn't mind because I wasn't in a rush. Callie was my waitress she was so kind and pleasant I really liked her ! $4 for tazo Starbucks tea .. idk. I guess it's comparable to a venti? I was only given one tea bag for the whole pot - would be nicer for them to seep the tea in pot for me ! At a hotel you are often captive to eating at the restaurant/bar so the one star is not for those people because it might come down to a vending machine or this one star place. What is for those people who get in late and need a bite to eat is a suggestion to steer clear of the Caesar salad(12 bucks) and the Crab/lobster bacon salad ($18). Scroll through the pics and you will see a salad with 6 pieces of lettuce and two stale slices of French bread with a thimble of dressing. It is insulted for 2 dollars yet alone 12. The crab salad sounds amazing but stunk the whole room up like 3 day old rotten cooter. It turned everyone's appetite. So stick with the burger/wings if you are stuck here, I have not had them but can't imagine they could be as paltry/repulsive as the salads were. read more

First the good: Excellent customer service, as one would expect from any business located in a hotel. The waiter apologized when my order came overlooked - after I specifically stressed med-rare three times. He had them fire a new order which came out about medium, but by that point I could tell from my wife's food that the kitchen here just isn't capable of doing any better. The food is just bad all around with the exception of the Caesar salad. The sauce for my dish was massively over salted, so much so it eclipsed the flavor of everything except a piercing flavor of salt. This sauce had to be made from base or mass produced stock. I mean how hard is it for a restaurant to make their own stocks and demi-glace! These are the elements that are supposed to define the difference between what can be accomplished by a casual home cook and a restaurant! The "glazed" root vegetables that were supposed to accompany my dish were not at all glazed. Glazed should mean shallow poached in a bit of stock, butter and a pinch of sugar until the liquid reduces enough to coat the veg. My veg was sautéed in oil that wasn't even hot enough and as such oozed grease. The concept of some of the dishes sounds good, but the execution is abysmal. The wait staff was very gracious and comped several items on our check in apology. I tip my hat to the front of the house. I feel bad they have to work with such an incompetent back of the house. read more

Really enjoyed having a place like Nu Restaurant to dine/drink during our stay at the Hyatt. They make excellent cocktails and the food was delicious. Our server, Samantha, was very informative with my boyfriends questions about wine and very attentive when we were running low on drinks. They do an excellent very chilled, very dirty martini. I had a few just to be sure ;) The first night I had the Frenchie With A Twist sandwich with fries. It was outstanding. The second night I had the mac n cheese. That, unfortunately, was disappointing. It was risotto or pilaf - not mac. I wasn't happy with it. But otherwise the venue is great for a hotel. read more

While staying at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge. One evening went down to the Nu Lounge on my last evening which was this Saturday I rather wait I would say almost midnight. It was quite busy. There were people there that we're seeing at the hotel and people that was just coming there to hang out. Had a yummy and very strong French martini. Also ordered this delicious turkey club like sandwich it was so big I could barely eat half of it. They wrap the rest up but I want up throwing it away. I had it just added on to my room bill. When I go back in June I'm sure I will definitely go back down there again. The bar staff was phenomenal very nice talkative along with the people sitting at the bar is where I sat there were tons of tables and couches and different places to sit lots of TVs with different sporting events and different things on. read more

Very disappointed for such a beautiful hotel we expected a better dining experience. To start my friend ordered the "The Frenchie-with a twist" rib eye. Ordered a bottle of wine and I was looking forward to their Seafood Cobb Salad. Both entrees came out... When placed in front of me the Cobb Salad Crab meat reeked & obviously went bad. The waitress said that the Crab meat was fresh & that they just opened it! Opened what.. a can? She asked what else I wanted to order instead. I opted for the easiest their Margarita pizza. Needless to say...my friend's meal got cold because they wanted to eat dinner with me not 25 minutes apart. The manager Raees eventually made his way over and once again claimed the seafood was "FINE". Seriously what does it take for the cook to check before sending out a meal. Why must it become a debate? Would they debate the board of health? It's so disheartening when you don't get what you to pay for. Is that too much to ask? Ate at the Nu located within the Hyatt Regency on V-Day this past Saturday. We were told that there was a special Valentines Day menu and were informed of what the menu consisted of. Although the restaurants reviews aren't the best - the menu seemed appetizing, it's conveniently located within the hotel, and it was snowing that evening - so why not give it a try, right? Wrong. There was no special Valentines Day menu, as they promoted, and had to order their regular menu items which didn't seem appetizing to me at all. I ordered the ravioli with sweet potatoes. Ravioli was way over cooked, in a green creamy pesto sauce which wasn't too bad actually. The dish also had minuscule pieces of sausage mixed in that was cut up weirdly. The dessert was disgusting: "cheesecake fondue". It was more like cream cheese taken right outta the fridge and molded into a dish and decorated with huge chunks of fruit. Nasty. The cocktails were, eh ... The service was pretty good, however, which is why I must give them 2 stars. The hotel was lovely, but next time I visit - I'll skip Nu. read more

I'm at a loss for words as to how disgusting this food was. One of us ordered filet mignon and two of us ordered the bone in ribeye steaks. Let me start by saying they do not grill their steaks! It was boiled and placed into an oven, absolutely disgusting. We could not even take two bites before we felt sick to our stomachs and at $40+ per meal this is utterly unacceptable and felt like robbery! I should have read the reviews on yelp before going to Nu Restaurant & Lounge with my family. The only thing that was good were the buffalo wings. The meatballs in the spaghetti and meatballs were probably from BJ or Cosco. The risotto with lobster and mushrooms was overcooked, and the crab cake should have had more taste and crab meat for the price. The T-bone steak was not that great considering what we paid and the Red Snapper was a bit too spicy. The service was not up to standards, we had to ask for bread and butter once we saw that another table got it. read more

I find it very hard to believe this is one of the top 10 restaurants in LI. I ordered the margarita pizza and it was nothing spectacular. It is very small (4 small slices) for the $14 that you are charged and if I did not receive a discount because of my employer I would have been really upset. All the cheese comes off with one bite and then you are left with bread and very bland sauce. Did not taste any of the evo and sea salt that is supposed to be on it and there was minimal basil. I added parmesan cheese to the top which unfortunately did not help. I give 2 stars for convenience only. If you are staying at the hotel and have no other options then eat here. However, after sitting for dinner our opinions changed. I had the salmon which was excellent. Really excellent. Nice crispy skin and moist meat. The sauce was orange /ginger and very tasty. I went here after a long day spent with my daughter, so I was happy to see that the banquets were empty & looked very comfortable - they were. It was empty when we went in & did not get crowded or too busy. Our waitress was very nice, but it seemed she had the whole place to run herself, so things came slowly or were forgotten, not, I'm sure, her intention. We had the Calamari, different than listed on their website, but it was delicious nonetheless & a huge portion. We also had the crabcake, which my daughter liked, but it wasn't my favorite. The lobster Mac & Cheese was a little too Kraft Mac & Cheese for me, but the Duck breast entree that we split was very good. They brought out a very nice desert platter that we shared for our double birthday celebration. Overall, I gave it an a-ok because I feel some menu items could be improved upon, but the staff that we had interaction with were very nice & I think things were beyond their control in terms of attention, they should maybe look at staffing a little better. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered soup and tuna app. The soup took way too long and while it tasted good it was cold. No bread. No crackers. I wasn't asked how it was but how was I doing. I was given a flavorless steak, french's fried onions, and instant mashed potatoes. Certainly not worth the $36 I spent. Decided to order dessert and went with the Creme brûlée which was bland and tasted burnt. All in all certainly not what I wanted to eat after a long day but I will say the drinks were great at the bar. Awful. I went here for lunch before my cousin's wedding. I'm a vegetarian but I heard bad things about the salad and the pizza so I decided to order a sandwhich off the menu and just asked for it with no meat. The waitress was very nice and said that it was no problem. My meal came out 40 minutes later with giant pieces of chicken in it. I told her to please take it back but that I didn't want a replacement meal because I had to rush to get ready. Fortunately, they didn't charge me for anything but I was still unable to eat anything before the wedding because of the long wait. read more
