I wanted to love this place so much. I have never had such dry, tasteless Mexican food in my life! My family and I got take out. My son ordered street tacos with beef. The nice lady asked if he wanted pico de gallo, he said 'yes'. When we got home all he got was tortilla with beef. No pico de gallo, no onion, no pepper or radish on the side. Nothing. I've never seen such plain street tacos. I ordered the tamale de elote. In the picture it showed them with a white sauce. When I opened them up there was no sauce. Just plain and super dry!! They tasted like cardboard too. I don't know why people say this food is good or cheap. We could have gone to a CLEAN, nice restaurant for the price we paid here. Ever since the first bite, I've been obsessed with this restaurant's carne asada plate. The meat is riquísimo. The rice and beans are so flavorful I could eat them every day. Special shout-out to them, I called to request extra rice and beans before I placed my order via Ubereats (there isn't a rice and beans side option on the menu and I wanted to pay for it) and the person who helped me just asked for me to add it to the notes and she'd make sure I got it. Worth the 30 minute drive to try their pupusa's for the first time and other El Salvador favorites. I got the #4 Plato Guanaco which is a combination of 2 pupusa's with your choice of meat (picked asada and the riveultas), one big chicken tamal ( amazingly big and moist compared to the Mexican tamales) grilled plantains (mildly sweet and yummy) fried yuca (lightly crispy and perfect with the crema) crema, & refried beans (spot on flavor) for $20.99. This is perfect being a first timer and I am all about variety...and I got to take tons home. The pupusa's may look flat and plain but it's super flavorful & filling but in a good way. My husband got the carne Asada plate. It came with big slabs of flank steak and sides. My only suggestion is since they don't ask how you want it done, be sure to indicate you want it medium rare as it was on the well done side. It also came with rice, beans, jalepeno pepper, veggie, and a huge dollop of guacamole. If you want tortillas, you can ask for it...The coconut drink was very creamy and yummy but it had milk in it. They carry bottled sodas from Honduras as well as the typical ones like Mexican coke and jarritos etc. I was amazed they serve breakfasts daily? til noon... if you're into Nuevo Rancheros etc. Three ladies work very hard in this semi open kitchen .. it's like going to someone's home in El Salvador cuz this is super authentic! So excellent! I have come for lunch twice in the past week due to how delicious these pupusas are. The first time was last Friday, when a coworker and I did a quick workday lunch. I ordered one of the "mixed" revueltas pupusas (a mix of all their fillings) and a tamal de elote (corn tamale). My coworker ordered Baleada, which is basically a grilled tortilla filled with egg, cheese, sour cream, avocado, and pork. It comes in 2 sizes (regular and full) and he got the larger so that we could share. He also ordered one of the pupusas but don't recall now which flavor. This is a no-frills establishment, but was clean & friendly on both of my visits. At first, I wasn't sure if ordering in English would be an option but it was a nonissue communicating with the cashier/front of house lady. I'm pretty sure the chefs were all Spanish-only speakers, which only adds to the authenticity, IMHO! Food takes a few minutes to arrive and comes staggered, since it is cooked to order and brought to the table as ready. But this means it is incredibly fresh and steaming hot when set down. The pupusas came with a little bowl of pickled veggies, the tamal elote in a pool of crema, and there are 3 housemade hot sauces on every table- spicy, spicier, and green. The deliciousness of all those flavors combined cannot be described! I literally had this amazing garlicky, smokey, spicy taste lingering for several hours. Which made me so happy! The second time I ate here was solo on Wednesday while running some lunchtime errands. I got two pupusas- reueltas (again), and loroco (a green vine plant, the buds and flowers of which are used in Central American cuisine), and a side of guac ($1.50) & crema. It was too much for me, and I had to let about 1/2 a pupusa go. Luckily it was the loroco since I wasn't a huge fan of it's very distinctive taste. FYI= The pupusas are $2.50 each.
