Mishima Reserve Wagyu Beef NY Steak sample
    Belinda C.

This brand new beautiful Nugget Market opened by the Whitney Ranch Parkway Highway 65 exit and University Ave in Rocklin. The samples during opening weekend were wonderful. The Mishima Reserve Wagyu Beef New York Steak was so delectable with its marbling. It's like $45 per lb for this premium meat. Caramel Popcorn, Tempura Shrimp Sushi Roll, and Sprecher Root Beer and Cherry Cola were all yummy. However, my favorite stand (and it's still giving out samples) is the cheese table in the deli section. You might get a taste of pate, hard and soft cheeses, crackers, bread, or fruit jams, like fig or cherry. I've been tempted into buying delicious fancy cheeses too often these days! Deli section foods are a bit pricey. My favorite prepared salad is the Harvest Salad with the yams. $10 for a prepackaged salad meant to serve 2. The shrimp, imitation crab, cucumber, carrots, and avocado rolls are OK, but I would rather order from restaurant. I didn't care for the California Roll, which had a medicinal or preservative aftertaste to it. The berry smoothie was OK, but I probably should just make smoothies at home given they cost $9 and more. Nugget has the most enticing cakes on display. Princess Cake is my favorite. While probably not an authentic Mexican recipe or preparation, I also like the Tres Leches Cake. Nugget is where you go to find beautiful, fresh, organic produce, high quality butchered meats, and difficult to find or unusual items (i.e., spices, guanciale, duck, bison, elk, fancy mushrooms). Service is friendly and helpful.

This is definitely my go-to store for all the top quality produce, meat, fish, bakery items plus all the stuff you just won't find anywhere else, unique and specialty items. It's a fabulous store and I am so happy it's now in Rocklin! Very easy and convenient. Plus the staff is always great, friendly and ever so helpful. This past visit I did find a glitch which did annoy me. Looking over the blueberries they posted an 11oz container for $4.99. Not bad for good quality blueberries! Plus the sign noted "California Grown". BINGO! LOCAL!! Yet right under the sign were 11oz. containers from MEXICO! I looked and looked and didn't find any 11oz from California... so, what's up? I asked one of the staff members who said "the ones from Mexico are the same as California" and are the ones on sale! I retorted, "ah, ALL of California then". Baja? There's still a map of this California on the sign. Maybe a bit persnickety but I dislike mislabeled or misleading items. Come on Nugget! Why would it matter? I like the freshness of local produce and supporting our farmers in our state. It won't stop me from coming here but the point being look carefully and don't be fooled. Truth be known it's far worse at other supermarkets. Labeling, signs and discounts should be checked before just grabbing what's under a sign. Everything else I got at this store that day was really great! The organic produce is awesome. Such a wonderful shopping experience even with this one glitch.

Grocery shopping at this store makes me feel like I'm in Disneyland??? It must be the layout of the store or the vast collection of merchandise that is just amazing. There's also a wide array of bread and pastries that look so delectable. We tried the açaí bowl and it was so delicious! We like coming here for the wide selection of preps chicken that we love to throw in the grill! The staff is super friendly and helpful, ask them anything! Now just be aware, this store is not cheap, so bring your dollars but it is so worth it!!!! A must visit!!!

Love that this nugget is open and so close to me! The interior is nicely decorated and they have a second floor lounge with indoor and outdoor seating area. I took photos of the deli menu and ordered their firecracker sandwich which was delicious. Workers are always so friendly but be prepared for a 20 minute wait on sandwiches if you go during peak lunch hours.

Burnt chocolate chip cookies $4 each

Went the opening week and boy what a cluster - there's only one entrance/exit, which was bottlenecked with people with carts trying to get in and out. I love the Roseville Nugget and fully expected it would have the same layout as that store, with two sets of doors, but alas, no. This one is closer to home, but I may continue to make the trek to Pleasant Grove simply for convenience. They had the absolute best chocolate chip cookies for the first few weeks of opening. Soft, chewy, sprinkled with a little salt - at $4 a cookie - but absolutely wonderful. Not sure what happened but I went in today and all they had were burnt cookies. I asked her if they had any in the back that weren't as burnt and the gal at the counter went back to take a look, but came back saying the ones in the back were just "as brown". I'd call them burnt. I only bought some because my daughter was craving them, but I told them if they were ever that burned again I wouldn't. **edit** they tasted as bad as they looked. A total waste of money. :-( Overall, nice specialty items but the layout is cumbersome.

    awesome grand opening!

Went to the grand opening today around 11:30 am and it was packed as expected but man, did they have some fun and generous freebies! Whole turkey legs from Diestel, steak samples, hot dogs, burgers, flowers. The crew did an amazing job for how many people were there. It sounds like the after school crowd later in the day may have added to the chaos, but given how busy they already were before then, I think these workers were at capacity and did as good of a job as they possibly could. The store director Angel was outside greeting guests and you could tell he was genuinely happy to see people enjoying themselves. The store itself is beautiful just like other Nugget markets. This one had a cool outdoor area upstairs to hang out. Kudos to all involved in the grand opening today - I know it wasn't easy! Hopefully the crowds aren't always as crazy as today given the 2 other Nugget locations in nearby Roseville.

Typical great Nugget store. I do hope they figure out the sandwich scene though. 45 minutes for a sandwich is too long.

The shop is set up in an interesting way where you enter through the produce section and snake around to the main shopping area. I thought this was cool at first but realized the way they have it set up to get back to produce you either have to go past the cash registers (which I think they don't want) or loop back around to get up front again. I typically like picking up produce last so it's on the top of my cart/basket so I ended up heading back that way at the end. The rest of the shopping visit was pretty typical and I loved the selection of items they had. I ended up picking up some cheeses, yogurt, noodles, and grapes during this visit. The prepared section did look nice, and if I hadn't already eaten lunch I would have grabbed something here. The staff member who helped me was friendly too.

I've always enjoyed coming to this location, and it's conveniently close to my work, so I've continued choosing this store often. I try to come in early in the mornings just hoping to avoid a repeat of a certain experience from a few weeks ago, only to have another memorable encounter with a new employee. I've stopped in several times right when the store opens, and every time I see her, the experience is impressively consistent: no greeting, no enthusiasm, no urgency, and a customer service personality that appears to have called out sick. She was standing directly in front of the empty freezer section while completely focused on a personal phone call. She was so committed to that conversation that I briefly wondered if she was negotiating a major business deal rather than standing in a grocery store aisle. Meanwhile, the empty freezer sat there patiently waiting for someone to acknowledge it. I was really hoping maybe the freezer would magically refill itself while she was busy, but apparently "restocking" and "helping customers" weren't included in today's activities. No hello, no "Can I help you?", no acknowledgment whatsoever--just the unmistakable feeling that customers were interrupting something far more important. Customer service isn't rocket science. Looking up from your phone for three seconds and acting like the people shopping in the store actually exist goes a long way. I won't be surprised if other customers recognize exactly who I'm talking about, because I can't imagine I'm the only person who has noticed this pattern. I believe her name was Francis or something similar. There are some genuinely great employees at this location who clearly care and go out of their way to help, which makes the lack of effort from others stand out even more. Hopefully, management takes a closer look before the store's reputation gets left sitting empty right next to that freezer section.

The markets are located from Truckee to Roseville and include seasonal markets, such as this one, as well as year round markets. This market is Saturdays only from June 6-November 21, 8:30am-12:30pm. There is a year round market a few miles away in Roseville in the Whole Foods Market parking lot (at the Fountains on Galleria Blvd. & East Roseville Parkway from 8:30am - 1pm on Tuesdays) . There are typically around twenty vendors at this Rocklin market. All of the produce is sold by the growers themselves so you can really get the inside scoop on their products and how they are grown. There are also items available like fresh baked breads, cookies and even tamales. On this visit there was also a fresh flower vendor, honey vendor and even some live acoustic entertainment. When you buy an item from any of the vendors you can also get a ticket to enter a weekly drawing to win a free item from RC Wiiley. This week's giveaway was for a mini-fridge. Overall, it's a nice little pop-up and I can always count on finding some flavorful items fresh from the farm. On this visit I was on the hunt for some cherry tomatoes and found some tasty little gems grown by Willow Creek Ranch in Penryn. They were well balanced between sweet and acidic...yummy summer goodness!
