Worst Service Experience - Problem Never Fixed! Took my 2016 Corvette to Jennings Chevrolet for a Service Rear Axle message. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service advisor Sargon Rasho was great, but management was a nightmare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Paid $126.57 for a spark plug wire, then $315.08 for an engine cleaning -- neither fixed the problem. After the issue returned a third time, GM tech said it might be an injector. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked for it to be fixed since I'd already paid twice, but manager Mark Wolla refused and was rude, saying "customers are liable" even when repairs don't work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] GM only reimbursed me a pathetic $25. Spent over $440 and weeks without my car, and the problem is still there. Stay far away from this dealership -- they don't stand behind their work. read more

I took my car to Jennings because I trusted Chevrolet trained mechanics to work on my car. I was in the auto industry for 25 years I know autos, but I'm no longer able to crawl under cars like I once was. The automatic transmission shift cable had broken. I had AAA tow the car to Jennings, I had ordered the shift cable. I received a call from the service advisor asking me do I want Jennings to just install the cable or do I want them to diagnose it for $195.00. extra. It took me all of two seconds to diagnose it myself with my automotive knowledge and background. I told them just install the cable and do an oil change. They installed the cable and changed the oil. The oil change was $168. The car requires 6 qts of Mobil 1 oil. I could have bought the oil at Menards for under $40. They charged close to $100. For oil only . When I picked the car up it was absolutely filthy. Grease on the fenders and quarter panels, drivers seat and door panel. The fluid levels were not topped off, the oil change reminder on the dash was not reset and tire pressure was not set. Update: October, 20, 2025 - I had to take my Chevy Trax to the Service Dept due to a "Check Engine" light. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon arrival, I was met by service consultant Dave Granquist who began checking the vehicle into the system.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told him that I was severely hearing impaired and I could not communicate on a telephone call. He advised me that he would 'text message' me as to the status of the car and that he did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's wonderful to visit businesses that have employees that are properly trained to assist the Hearing-Impaired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Hearing Impairment is a disability specifically listed in the "Americans With Disabilities Act". Well as for the car, it turns out that the sensor repair was actually all covered under warranty, which was just wonderful. Do not bring your vehicle here under any circumstances. We will never bring our vehicle to Jennings Chevrolet and want to advise you to do the same. After taking our Chevy in for a routine oil change, we were told by Rasho Sargon that our car needed its rear alignment fixed and that our car should be getting a realignment every year for ~$150-$200 each time. This sounded like quite a stretch for routine maintenance, and we opted not to do the service. I took the car to Discount Tires, a store with outstanding service, kind professionals, and is routinely giving advice against their own interest. When I asked about needing a realignment, the professionals looked at our tires and saw absolutely no need for a realignment. In addition, they said Rasho's statement regarding our car needing an annual alignment was "ridiculous". Discount Tires offers realignments for $89, and they still told me that I didn't need one performed. Finally, we received coupons sent to our home over the Christmas holiday to be used for services greater than $100. When talking to Rasho, he said these coupons could not be used for our service because the oil change & realignment were a "special price services". After pressing him for what we could use the coupons for, it became clear that nearly all of the services offered by Jennings Chevrolet were "special price services" and could not accept coupons. So much for trying to extend a helping hand to the customer. read more

Decades ago, this might have been a decent dealership. But, now they are a complete rip off. Under the management/owners' direction, ALL the sales people will tell you that all cars have a $4,000 markup. This markup applies to all cars sold off their lot as well as to all custom ordered vehicles directly from the factory. When you ask them how they justify this 4k markup or "market adjustment", as the dealership refers to it, the response is a lame canned answer. "ALL THE DEALERS IN THE AREA ARE IMPOSING THIS MARKUP. IF THEY AREN'T, THEN THEY'LL HIT YOU WITH IT AT SOME OTHER POINT IN THE SALE TRANSACTION" For those of you reading this review, that statement is an outright LIE! I encourage everyone to do their due diligence and visit ANY other dealership: 1) Libertyville Chevrolet at 1001 S. Milwaukee Ave. 2) Golf Mill Chevrolet in Niles at 9530 N Greenwood Ave. 3) Tasca Chevrolet in Wheeling at 700 W Dundee Rd. That's just to name a few, and please see/hear for yourselves that there is absolutely NO $4,000 markup on ANY vehicle. When I confronted the salesman (Nelson) at Jennings, the response he emailed back essentially read that the "market," which really meant unsuspecting customers, allowed for this markup because demand was so high and inventory so low. He then further doubles down on his claim and stated that they (dealership) are still selling through their inventory despite the 4k markup. LoL! Weeeellllllll, Mr. Jennings Salesman, maybe that crap excuse was marginally palatable during the pandemic when those statements of high demand / low inventory were true. However, the reality is that, although demand is still high, inventory isn't as low as you're claiming. Especially NOT at the point where a $4,000 markup can be justified on each and every vehicle you sell. Furthermore, IF you're selling through on your inventory, it is because your team of smarmy sales people are LIARS, and because the people coming through your doors aren't doing the research I did! Typical car salesmen-ship . Went to buy a car that was listed $5k over MSRP. Barely negotiated and told me I would never get the car (Tahoe) at MSRP. They also told me no dealer would honor their 'online price.' Guess what? Wrong on both counts. Got a Tahoe under MSRP, lower than 'online price' the same day. For Chevy repair service I have been using Chris MCElroy (Mac) at Jennings for well over a decade for a reason. He has been amazing every time I am there. He is not just very friendly, he is dam good at his job. He always finds a way to get me into the busy shop right away when there is a warning light. Mac always makes sure to respond to my calls quickly. I have learned through experience that he is fully honest. Mac always makes sure that any charges are minimal and that the job is done right the first time. Mac has been amazing to work with, as long as I live in the Chicago area and own a Chevy, he will be the only person I take my car to. I have even replaced my vehicle twice over the years and bought them from Jennings because of his wonderful service. Anyone that goes to him for service will not be disappointed. read more

Man... Big fan. My Chevy was under a recall notice and I was freaked out having never dealt with this before. Had to take it here as it's one of a few authorized dealerships in Chicago. These guys were absolute pros; it was very easy to get the appt scheduled and the staff was pleasant. The guy who provided me a loaner made it painless; the repairs took maybe half a day. And the cashiers took a little while... But they were nice. Again I'm big on service and I absolutely loved working with them. I'm lucky to have a repair shop down the street from my house that I go to for my stuff (Speedline.) But I gotta tell you I would consider taking my vehicle here (abs would definitely think about buying a car from these guys based on my experience.) read more

I purchased a used 2017 Chrysler Pacifica from Jennings Chevrolet during the winter. A few months after the purchase when the weather warmed up, we realized that the A/C was non functional. The service department determined that the refrigerant tank was empty due to a leak and diagnosed the issue as being a faulty condenser. They charged us $500 to replace the condenser and fill the tank with refrigerant. The following summer, the A/C stopped working intermittently and more recently stopped working completely. After bringing the car back this week, Service determined the refrigerant tank was empty again and quoted us $566 to refill the tank plus any additional parts/labor cost to replace faulty components. I reached out to my salesperson to ask for more fair terms considering the car was likely sold to us with unresolved A/C issues. After a few discussions between Sales and Service and minimal discount offered, I approved charges. Shortly after, the Service Director called me to convey they would not be working on my car and asked me to pick it up. The car was there for 4 days without servicing. I strongly recommend avoiding Jennings Chevrolet. They do not take responsibility when they sell a car with problems. Sales and Service does not coordinate well when there's an issue and then they deny service. read more

I recently took my car in for an oil change and a front driver side tire patch. The hole was directly in the middle of the tire and they claimed it couldn't be fixed. The service adviser, I believe his name was mac proceeds to throw out my tire and charges me $338 for a new one. I was in the car business for 7 years, 2 years of that time I was a sales representative at Ed Rinke Chevrolet in Centerline Michigan. I know for a fact this tire could be fixed and now I'm out $338. Very unhappy with the situation and wouldn't recommend any sort of tire repairs at this location. read more

I received a quote from the Parts Dept of $114 for the FOB and $45 for labor(from another dept). I agreed the total cost and came for a 7am appointment. I got a new quote of parts and labor this morning. $288! I gave the names of the individuals that gave me quotes over the phone prior. The service brushed it off and told me those folks(Jennings employees) didn't know what they were talking about when they gave me the quotes over the phone. I left without getting the extra FOB. At this point, due to the terrible customer service, I'm looking to buy another brand of car because Chevy is below par. I feel scammed. read more

All I can say is WOW! My husband and I were driving from Indiana to Minnesota and we struck an object, causing a dent in the rim. After we found a new rim, Jennings was the only place nearby that was willing to do a mount balance install at the last minute so that we could get back on the road. They are not pushy at all and actually listen and respect you. I especially have to mention Darrin Frank who was incredibly knowledgeable, respectful and patient. He's also just very kind and sweet. But I first came in to look at a traverse I had seen on truecar but it was no longer available. They had others but not blackout version so they were simply ugly. He respected I wasn't interested and we exchanged info in case something came up. It was fate and the next day the car I originally wanted to see was now available! He contacted me instantly and I came back and decided to get it. Before showing my excitement, I discussed it with my husband in private by asking for us to speak alone. He took no offense and nearly suggested he walk away before I even asked, really. We came back a few days later and drove off with it. He knew EVERY little detail about the model I was choosing and went above and beyond to explain everything to me even AFTER already closing the deal. This shows he genuinely cares for continued customer satisfaction and repeat clients. He builds a relationship with his clients for sure and that means so much. He doesn't see us as dollar signs. I made a service appointment for Saturday morning because my check engine light was on. I took my car to auto zone beforehand to get the code ran and had a code P2097. My car ran fine I just wanted to clear my engine light to give me peace of mind. I ask how much it would be to get it fixed and Mark tells me that they have to run their own diagnostics and that if the issue they find is covered by my extended warranty then they won't charge me for the diagnostic. Diagnostics are around $87. I said fine no problem. It took them 2 and a half hours to finish the diagnostic. Mark tells me there's multiple codes and they need to update some programming. He quoted me $1600 but reassured me that my extended warranty would cover most of the cost but not the programming update. So I only had to pay $170. He recommended I leave my car till Monday cause it would take a whole day of work I said that's not a problem and they sent ,me home on a Lyft. Come Monday they aren't able to work on the car because unfortunately the Tech that was working on my car had to take their child to the doctor but he would update me later that day, again no problem I'll pick up Tuesday. Come Tuesday morning I haven't received any further updates so I decide to call Mark and I leave him a voicemail to call me back with an update. He calls me back and tell me they cleared the check engine light but unfortunately they had to jump my car to get it started. He said they were able to test drive it but he recommends I get a new battery and quotes me $306 for that. I told him I'd rather go someone else since its not covered by warranty. He said alright and I can start heading over. I go on a Lyft and get there. Mark tells me to go to the front desk to pay and they'll bring my car around. I pay and sign off having full trust I can drive home and get a new battery soon. After paying I'm lost on where to go but can see that they are once again trying to jump my car. I over hear the tech telling Mark that my car won't start and that I need a new battery. He tells the tech I didn't want to spend the extra $100. They then see me and tell me to wait around the corner. I ask to speak with Mark because until today I NEVER had an issue with my battery but after leaving my car with them for about 4 days now my car doesn't turn on. He tells me well I told you you need a new battery before you came here. He gives me attitude about how I should just spend the extra $300 and my car will work fine. It was clear they weren't gonna do anything else to help me out and they sent me home for my car to once again not start this morning. Again this was NEVER an issue but after having leaving my car for 4 days I need a brand new battery. My car was working fine before I brought it to them and now its undriveable. I am still unclear about what was fixed but that's my fault for having full trust in them. Looking over my receipt they didn't write any notes about my cars battery being dead or them having to jump it twice. On top of all that I know I'm over paying for my car and looks like the extended warranty is a scam since I have to pay for multiple other things that aren't covered. I've been taking my car here for oil changed and tire rotations but after today I don't feel comfortable coming back even if they would help with my battery I don't feel like I'll be welcomed or helped. read more

2013 Chevy Volt: We should have learned about Jennings Chevrolet's ripoff lousy service years ago, when they told my wife that the then-insurance-covered dashboard button was not working - they didn't honer the insurance, saying that it didn't work because it was "cold outside"... ! When we took the car for service on a low battery coolant issue, Jennings failed to do the required system pressure test, instead ripping us off by charging us some $ 400 for replacing a sensor... the real problem went unrepaired to the point where we had to pay $ 1800 at a different Chevy service provider to do the job the right way. "Mac" McElroy at Jennings in particular, was not only the one who ripped us off the first time, but also insulted me personally when I asked about it by calling me a "shade tree mechanic". We'll never go back there again, and recently told some salespeople that we'd never buy there because of their service department. read more
