Waited 2 months to review. Bought a Groupon for a 4 wheel alignment with tire rotation and synthetic oil change. The mechanic said I needed a upper control arm on the front right side because he couldn't get the alignment correct and gave me a $450 estimate. They didn't rotate the tires and I question if they tightened up the left side after they were done because of the sounds I now hear when I go over a speed bump. I will go to a referred shop to verify IF the part is needed and have it repaired there. If not for the lifetime warranty on the alignment and rotation I'd never go back! read more

I wish I would have checked out yelp before I went. Went over there because it's in walking distance to my home for the $25.00 oil change with tire rotation. When I was there I asked for a quote on one tire and a cat converter (my check engine light was on and I knew the code for it). They said they would call in an hour. When I got a call they said the cat converter would be $1200 to fix, and ONE tire would be $175.00 for installation. I went back and got my car and told them that $175 for ONE tire was absurd and that they are taking advantage of a woman. I left to go to Firestone down the street and got the same tire for $72.00 I noticed my tires were not rotated ... now I'm worried that they didn't bother changing my oil. read more

I decided to get an oil change here because of the advertised "fluid top off" and "tire rotation". They did not check or top off the fluids. Coolant was left bone dry. I also had to argue to get my tires rotated. They had 25,000 miles on them, so it shouldn't have been a problem. They are also known for fixing things that don't need to be fixed. Read other reviews. Groupons are not honored at the price, expect to pay $6 more. Read other reviews. Side note: I leave good reviews too. This place doesn't deserve one. read more

Not a nice neighborhood business. With this last major snow fall, Nunos's plows covered up the sidewalk crossings at the light and also plowed all of the snow so it blocks the entrance to the side walk North on Harlem. I had went to Nuno's at the beginning of spring this year. I purchased a NOW GROUPON for an oil change. Not only was the staff friendly and efficient, but also very helpful with giving me a cheaper quote than Midas. I have yet to return to get the other repairs done on my car, but I decided to purchase another Groupon for 2 oil changes. Not only will I continue to give them my business, but I've already referred friends to this establishment. They were very friendly, helpful and I didn't wait long at all. Using 2nd out of 3rd groupon for oil change at bolingbrook location. I knew from 1st oil change it was done way to quickly to have actually changed out my top engine mounted oil filter. you have to take off a plastic cover that's attached by four bolts. This time I asked if they changed oil filters with the groupon and he said yes. I sat there and made a point to watch them to see if they took the cover off to get to the oil filter. The mechanic change the oil and I waited till he closed the hood and called him out on it. He lied and said he changed it and I said show me the old filter that came off it. The manager knew he was caught in a lie so made him do it all over. Crappy place buyer beware. read more

This place sucks, if you go for an alignment they will try their best to charge you extra fees for what ever reason, these Nuno's sucks pretend to charge you 25 dollars for an inspection that no one has requested when you go for alignment, these Unprofessionals pretend to do what ever they want with your car when you are the one who is giving to eat to this people, you are the customer and you decide what you want not them. These people has two locations with the same name be careful DO NOT GO over there I am an auto tech and I know how these thieves work stealing people taking advantage of their lack of knowledges in the automotive stuff. They are trying to be smart giving a super "deal" on GROUPON for alignment for life but their business is to charge you always more for what ever reason, if you don't know about cars or even worst if you don't know your car mechanically I warn you don't go to this both locations otherwise they will try to rip you off. And to be honest there's nothing positive to say about these places, not even their customer service, they are rude people with a huge attitude, they need to start to lose customers to realize there are plenty of auto shops eager to earn customers but working fair at the same time. I had a nasty creeky squeeky noise going on while I drove and after numerous recommendations for struts, tie rods, etc...all I needed was a lube. These guys are GREAT! They could've charged me an arm and a leg for struts or anything, but instead they simply recommended the lube. That's Love! read more

This place is about as crooked as an auto shop can be! They will try to upsell you no matter what you actually came in for. I took my car in simply to have the break pads replaced. After dropping my car off I got a call an hour later from one of the crooks that works there. He told me my suspension was completely shot, my alignment was way off and that my oil, trans fluid and power steering fluid needed to be replaced. What he didn't know was that less than a month before I had my oil changed, my trans fluid flushed and all other fluids were checked and ok. Needless to say I told him not to do a thing to my car and that I would be there to pick it up soon. The suspension and alignment are perfectly ok by the way. Here's where it gets good. When I get there to pick up my car I give one of these crooks my debit card to pay (roughly around $100). He tells me that if I pay him in cash it would only be $80 which was followed by a shady smile. Obviously he wanted to do things under the table so he could pocket the cash all for himself. These guys must be rich! Not only are they ripping off the customers, they're ripping off the shop itself. Hopefully they'll steal enough to put this place out of business so no more people can get screwed over. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU GO TO NUNO'S!!! EVER!!! read more

If you have a newer car, I find them to be thorough and reasonably priced with their shop labor rate at $98. But if you have an older car (where half its life is gone), I find them to be expensive as they mostly use original equipment parts (high end parts at high end prices) which will last twice as long as the useful life left of the vehicle. I'm not looking for the car to be as new (not when the body is rusting) I just want it to run for 4 or 5 more years. read more

Nuno's would have received ZERO stars if that was an option. I called in the morning during the week asking if someone could take a look at my car since my brakes were grinding and squeaking. I was told, "Absolutely! Bring it in and we'll have someone take a look!" Perfect. Even better since they're open and I won't need to rush after work. Arrived at Nuno's, the Store Manager was very polite, took my keys, asked a bunch of questions while he entered my information into the computer, etc. It was probably 10-15 minutes before he came back. In the meantime, I see them taking the wheels off my car and hoisting it up on the lift. I thought, "Wow! What service!" I was impressed. I was then asked to come back to my car for them to show me what was needed. I was TOLD the rear brakes and rotors were absolutely shot (believable since that's where the grinding was coming from), the front brake pads needed to be replaced, the front had NO ROTORS so those needed to be put on too, in addition to a jiggly front right tie rod. Brakes & rotors all around was quoted at $772. If I wanted to have the tie rod issue taken care of, it was an additional $268. Grand total = $1040. OMG. I was expecting to pay HALF. The manager was VERY pushy and said it could be done in 30 minutes and since I lived so close, he could take me home and then come pick me up when it was ready. I was still in shock over the sticker price so I insisted that Friday was fine. Only at that time did he ask how I would be paying for the inspection. WHAT??? Perhaps I'm naive or just female, but is this standard? When I called in the morning, I was NOT told of an inspection fee NOR was I told this when I arrived NOR was there a SIGN indicating an inspection fee. So much for the fantastic service I thought I was receiving by them just taking a look! Needless to say, I came home, b*&tched my fiance out because of the $1000+ that I would be spending on BRAKES. He called me back a few hours later only to tell me that another guy on the job (CFD) is also mechanic and will do the work the following evening for half. PERFECT. When the guy came over, it turns out that the ONLY THING needed for my car was the rear brake pads, ALL FOUR ROTORS WERE IN PLACE AND FINE, in addition to a driver side right CALIPER which was LOCKED IN PLACE. Needless to say, my bill with the other mechanic turned out to be even less. Nuno's did NOT tell me about the caliper, which would have EASILY put me over a $1200 bill. They've only be open under a year, however I can't imagine that with price gouging like this, they'll be staying in Norwood Park for long. read more

Charged me way too much to fix car and when took car home found another problem. Brought car back and charged another 90 for a diagnostic that they did they first time. When asked why they didn't find the problem in the first place told some bull about it being a "domino effect". Took my car elsewhere and was fixed the first time. read more

Total rip off avoid at all cost. I was quoted over the phone $115 for an oil change. I took my truck for the service and was told the person did not include tax so it went up to $130. Picked up truck and was told with oil filter it went to $150. I asked why the quote for an oil change would not include an oil filter. I was told they did not know. What a great scam they have going on. So if you like to get overcharged this is the place for you. This is my 5th time back to Nunos. The prices are very competitive & the BEST part is the quickness of the repair. I've had a : starter, oil change, tune up, front & back drum brakes & pads, serpentine belt, electric, etc. & they have never kept the car there for more then 4 hrs! On top of making no appointment & some of the work covered under warranty. They have to call the warranty office & give all info & pricing & get approval. read more

I'm in my local car shop (teds auto clinic which I have reviewed as well) for a minor fix, and decided while I'm waiting, why don't I write a review with this place that I decided to go to for a groupon several weeks ago. I should have read the reviews before buying this groupon oil change. (You get what you pay for) I was reluctant to go since it is just an oil change and this wasn't my local shop. I was told it would cost $10, and come to find out it was $7cash only (very suspicious) after buying the $10 groupon, $17 altogether. How was that a deal, that is an avg price for an oil change. If you don't speak Spanish, good luck trying to figure out what they say in front of you. There's something about a place when you walk in and feel like your getting robbed before you actually talk to a mechanic. Anyways they bring my car in like 3 garage doors away from the lobby, I'm guessing so I can't see what their doing to my car. Please note if you don't know anything about cars or don't bring a friend that knows don't even try coming here. Everyone should be aware of where your car is, it should be visible AT ALL TIMES (shame on me). 45 minutes later, yes for an oil change, are you kidding me it should be less than 15 min, with all the mechanics and space they have, it's done. I drive off and low and behold my brakes are literally grinding. I don't remember bringing it in, in that type of shape. What did they do test drive it to get lunch without me noticing. This place is FOS. I advise everyone, your better off finding a "mechanic" on the street than taking it in here. It will save you time and money. I went to this place because it is new in my area. Unfortunate experience all around. Stay away from this establishment. They cannot align a front end. Four times and they still cannot get it correct. They also told me they can do exhaust. Turns out they drove it to Windy City Muffler on Milwaukee and charged me double. They also flat out lied about what was installed on the car. My receipt states Magnaflow which is what I requested. All pipes were to be stainless as well.They had a Flowmaster installed, no stainelss pipe and did not know what was on the car. I had to tell them what was on there. I went to Windy City to ask a question and this is where I found out all of the information. I ended up getting things straightened out at Windy City but had to pay more. Watch out for this place. Never again. I live in the neighborhood so I will be sure to tell everyone around how bad this place is. read more

This place is horrible! We went in for an oil change and they said that we needed additional work. Ball joints, sway bar links, idler arms, breaks ect... half the things we didnt need to have fix. We did do the ball joints but now the truck sqeeks horribly... they FORGOT to put grease in the ball joints! Also, we bought ceramic brake pads which they were supposed to install and we now look at them and they are regular cheapy brakes! What the f***!! Total rip off scam business, and people, esp. women need to beware. Quoted me $1400 to replace catalytic converter when all it needed was to be welded back on. My car is a '94, and doesn't even need a cat because it doesn't need to pass emissions anymore, but they tried to say that since I own a Volvo, it would be so much more expensive!!! Yeah, like I look like I have money with a 19 year old car!! They also tried to get me for the 'ol 'tie rod is bad' scam. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that line. Get a 2nd and 3rd opinion when a mechanic tells you that you need a new tie rod, ball joint, axle, blah, blah blah. Went there to get an O2 sensor changed, they tried to charge me triple the cost of the sensor, diagnostic fee plus labor. When I ask the attendant why the part cost was so much he told me "I run a business here and need to make money." I replied " That doesn't give you the right to price gouge." read more

I'm a little surprised by all of the negative reviews. I was having electrical problems with my 98 Mercedes, took it to Nuno's and I needed to get the alternator replaced it took them about 3 hours. I was still having some problems so I took it back and spoke with Victor, there was a defect in the alternator so they replaced it with another new alternator, which took about another 3 hours. They covered the work and didn't try to charge me any more. I thought the service was fine and they stood behind their work. I'll go back in the future. read more

BEWARE, IF YOU GET YOUR OIL CHANGED AT NUNO'S AT 6435 N. HARLEM AVE, CHICAGO, MAKE SURE THEY ACTUALLY PUT OIL IN THE CAR!!!!! Sadly, my sister took my elderly parent's car to Nuno's to get the brakes done and an oil change. The brake job was over priced at over $800.00. When I picked the car up, I drove for a couple of miles and noticed the check oil and engine lights were on. I called them left messages regarding the light indicators. My sister also left them messages that were never returned. I called a mechanic friend of mine to look at it. He checked the oil and the dip stick was dry. He took off the oil filter and it had medal shavings in it. As Nuno's never called me back, I went in there and related what happened. They then had the car towed there. They denied that they had drained the oil and forgot to put oil in it. They then put oil in it and told me it was fine. It so obviously isn't fine. It was driven without any oil for a couple of miles. It's not over yet, even though Nuno's may think so. ZERO STARS read more

I wanted to give this place a fair shot, I really did. I have been going to them for a little over a year now. Every time I leave this place, even after getting my oil changed, something goes wrong. The first time, my check engine light came on and turned out to be some serious work that never even presented itself until I drove off the light. Literally, the check engine light came on when I started the car. Then I leave again after the next oil change and my car was squeaking unbearably, like a belt was loose. DON'T BELIEVE THE OIL CHANGE SIGN THEY HAVE!!!.... I've taken my car to this place twice for an oil change and both times they didn't rotate my tires even thought the receipt states FREE TIRE ROTATION....How do I know...I've marked 2 tires both times with a sharpie and the tires didn't move...they have a big sign saying 25.99 with tire rotation and other services(which I did think happens either). They did have my car on the lift to point out other issues that I should have fixed so I just assumed they did the rotation(my fault for not checking when I was there) I did check the oil and it looks new so I give them that....anyway I will no longer be doing business with this company read more

These guys are crooks. They told me that my windshield wiper motor was broken and it would cost $400 for a new one plus $250 in labor to replace it. I googled the motor and found it being sold for around $40. They also assured me that the old motor was blowing fuses the second they were put in. I refused to pay $750 and took my car back. The second I started it the ABS (aintilock braking system), airbag and tire pressure lights came on. I had to go back and make them fix it. After everything they charged me $45 for an electronic diagnostic test and my local Volkswagen dealer changed a $1.46 30 amp fuse and my wipers worked. Avoid Nuno's at all costs, they are liars and will defraud you if given the chance. read more

This place is a joke. I went there and asked them if they can see if my tail pipe can be reinforced which was hanging. They gave me a bill for $25 just for the inspection. Are you kidding me? We all knew the issue! There was no 25 point inspection because his guys were screwing around in the parking lot when I picked up my car. Then they want to charge $500 for a muffler, tail pipe and the pipe from the converter. Are you kidding? These guys are crooks! read more

i went to this place for oil change...and their oil change package deal includes free tire rotation..but while i keep watching the mechanic working on my car, i havent seen him doing tire rotation, and moreover he find hard to remove the engine filter..so what he does, he didnt replace the engine filter..so, i asked the attendant if he replaced the engine filter but he lied also that the mechanic replaced it..., so guys dont let this auto care perform your car... read more
