We wanted to check this place out Saturday night for dinner but I don't have much to say about this place. We only stayed for one drink and right after ordering appetizers we decided to tell our waitress to make does to go! We realized after sitting down this place was way to load for us. I couldn't hear my daughter and wife when I asked what they wanted to drink or eat. So I realized this was gonna be a terrible night if we stayed and not have a conversation at dinner. Can't say the appetizer were good because I didn't get to taste them, it I did order a vodka and pineapple drink and that was delicious. So hopefully next time around we have a better experience here and check out their food. I know it not their fault so we will give this place another shot one day.

My first time here and I will definitely be back. The menu has so many options for a variety of tastes. There's definitely something for everyone. The atmosphere is very cute and fun. It was the perfect spot for a birthday brunch with friends.

I was so excited to come here. Looking forward for a few weeks .. Unfortunately it was horrible And let me tell you this restaurant is beautiful from the mirrors on the wall to the chandeliers on the ceiling even the tables were beautifully dressed.. but as the old rule says don't judge a book by its cover.... So let me start this review. I ordered the Asian salmon salad. .First of all it said artisan lettuce It was served with spinach which I cannot have and that piece of salmon. No flavor, not even any color could have at least grilled it.. I did send the salad back to have it remade with romaine but it came back with a long black hair. Disgusting ...Their appetizer Brie with phyllo dough raspberry topping with apples was actually good. Of course the phyllo dough was soggy but the cheese was melted It is a good concept I'm not sure how you would execute a crisper dough.. The stuffed mushrooms were good also Tempura battered with cream cheese filling.....Buratta ravioli with honey butter Rosemary sauce was decent... Now this is where it gets messy. I ordered the chicken piccata... I've had many variations of this dish but this was like Alfredo sauce with no cheese and they're pan fried chicken You couldn't tell it was pan fried. It's supposed to be lightly battered. I don't know. I don't even know where it went wrong. It just was wrong.... Now I get it, every restaurant has their own recipe... But the menu specifically says butter lemon caper sauce that is not what it was in. And if it had butter it lost the flavor with too much flour, it wasn't lemony, you had to add the lemon to it with a half a lemon that was on the plate.... So this was a no-go for me... Maybe it was a bad day for the cooks. Unfortunately as I've said before, In a lot of my reviews. "You have one chance to make a good impression"

Delicious! Smooth, light and buttery. Chicken was great and a good casual ambience with lots of chandeliers and farm house look.

We had a wonderful birthday dinner here, on our first visit and we'll be back! H&V is centrally located with street parking around the neighborhood, but I can see parking being an issue on weekends or summer nights. Once inside, guests are welcomed by a fresh, black-and-white, modern, upscale, homey motif. Staff welcomes you the same way -- professional, bright, friendly, attentive voices. You want to be here. As you enter, you're in the front dining room with the bar across from the front door. It's a great view and sets the tone. There was plenty of energy at h&v on a Monday night. We were shown to the back dining room which had an even more dining room vibe and no bar vibe, and that was just fine! In fact, in the back room it's easier to have a quiet conversation. By luck, we were first attended to by Casey, the owner, who is as charming as she is beautiful. That just continued to set the tone of feeling that you're in someone's personal dining room for dinner. The menu is very easy to follow, with the right amount of choices for each course. Just enough to give you choices of proteins and flavors, few enough that they can be experts at each and not too many that it's an overwhelming choice or that the food is likely to fall into too much to manage for a kitchen staff. Everything was interesting, unique twists on things, and I'll leave that to you to review the menu here on Yelp. We did not take alcohol but we were presented with the drink menu on a tablet. Casey eventually handed us off to a new server, a young gentleman who is very polite, professional and friendly. He was not familiar with the menu items yet, but that's okay, we all start a new job at some point. Our bacon wrapped chicken skewers appetizer arrived quickly, hot, and very nicely done. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and you could tell it was a high quality bacon. Four skewers, each with two bacon chicken nuggets, was the right size for two people. Unfortunately, our main course, or entrees, was delivered within five minutes after our appetizer arrived. We didn't even have a chance to take our first bite of the appetizer. I suppose in one sense, it was a little annoying, but in other sense, it was nice that the kitchen was so attentive. For dinner, we had chicken piccata on a penne pasta and fish and chips. My cousin said the piccata was flavorful and tender; I observed the chicken to be moist and modestly dressed and likely enjoyable. I had homemade fish and chips, and the cod was definitely flavorful and the hand breading had a slightly more than subtle interesting spice, it was crispy, and absolutely not oily -- certainly something I'd order again. The standard french fries on the side were tasty enough but could have been a little more exciting. The coleslaw was decent, run-of-the-mill coleslaw. My cousin was presented with a really nice, hefty slice of an Oreo cookie cheesecake for his birthday. He was very happy and said it was good. Out the door, we felt we paid a very fair price for a very good dinner and outstanding customer service in a most pleasant environment. H&V is an energetic, bright, comfortable place to share a lovely meal.

The service was great. My son and myself got the New York strip. I ordered mine rare. Didn't come out rare but the quickly fixed that. Also I'm used to that. No restaurant wants to actually make a rare steak despite you telling them you actually want it text book rare. The veggies were probably the best grilled vegetables I've had at a restaurant. The decor was cute and I loved the atmosphere. I loved everything about it. Only complaint was from my son who wanted regular A1 sauce and they gave us the bold and tasty sauce. lol. But also agree that it's gross.

We walked through a hall to get to our table

We went here two weeks ago for a birthday party and sat in the main area. The decor and ambiance was lovely. Our server was lovely and everyone enjoyed their meal. We went there again for Valentine's Day and were sat in their back room. Night and day. The back room decor was dark , haphazard and uncomfortable. Not at all what we expected. The prix fixe menu had several options, unfortunately all our picks were boring and bland. The filet was cool and not cooked to medium well, the broccoli was cool and lobster was tepid. Not at all worth the price and very disappointing from our previous experience.

Amazing food, great service, cool decore. Tonight was our 1st trip here. I'll post pictures of whatI had. It was well enjoyed by my whole party. They have a kids menu and kids are welcome. Parking can be tough but other than that no down side to going here. We made reservations and were seated pretty fast when we arrived. On to the food - Pimento Cigars - very good, they were the size of eggrolls. I wish there were more of a cigar size, it was kinda a mess to eat but still very good. Old Fashioned to drink - good, But all drink prices are "downtown prices" it was $12 Texas burger for dinner - the best burger I had in a long time.

Went to the library and decided to check out this place for a lite lunch and enjoy the beautiful summer day! The server was good. I had the champagne cosmo which was very light and refreshing! Then for lunch had the Billy Goat flatbread which consisted of goat cheese, carmelized onions, spinach mushrooms. It was cooked to perfection. The flatbread was so crispy and salty but not too much and the onions added the perfect sweetness. The goat cheese was a good amount of creaminess and tang. Great outdoor place right on the corner of DTP. I went at a very laid back time but I'm sure this place gets busy so you might want to check for reservations. Overall, nice ambiance too :)

Crispy tofu Sammich with crispy fresh French fries and a fruity refreshing sangria cocktail.

I have been here 2 times and have not been disappointed! They have very comfortable seating inside and outside and the wait staff is always accommodating. They have great cocktails and delicious French fries. I had the crispy tofu sandwich and it was SO tasty. I had to eat pretty fast because we brought our 7 month old along with us, but I highly recommend for a cute lunch date.

Mother's Day brunch, selection was fine and food was normal. The issues were with the service, the hostess didn't know the prices for children, which was fine because we had a flyer. She never once mentioned an automatic 20% gratuity. At the end of the meal when we got the check I asked our waitress if auto gratuity was for party's over a certain #. Our bill says 8 guest but we were 4 adults 3 kids, which is what we were billed for. She was automatically rude and just said if you have issues talk to the manager. Then she came back with a new bill removing a child's meal. The principal of taking a 20% gratuity with no mention of doing so beforehand is what's wrong. It's a buffet, we served ourself. Even had to get our own coffee. Her service was poor when asked for hot sauce, there was none?? Kids asked for strawberry lemonade but she couldn't make it. Said they couldn't do it. No refills on the mimosas. We were satisfied with the meal and okay with ignoring the poor service up until the bill came. Waitress tried to say it was at the bottom of the flyer but nowhere does it mention automatic 20% gratuity.

    Baked brie and chicken skewers

The power went out twice I came an hour before closing and I hate doing that at places but my waiter Rudd was amazing he powered through the steamer was not working on the cappuccino machine so he ran around looking for some milk and he was just so polite and he was on time and he was always there when I needed something I loved actually when the power went out because it made it very romantic so I think you guys do date night sometimes but anyways the food was great we got the spaghetti and the candy cob the baked brie and the chicken skewers and they were amazing the baked bree was a little cold in the middle but that was the first time I ever had it so maybe I just didn't know what I was eating

I hate when people at the restaurant say everything is good. Not these young ladies. They made some sound suggestions which we followed. French onion soup and the steak frites were both excellent and priced well IMO. They have a really good whiskey/bourbon selection with a few hard to find bottles. I settled on a Blantons neat. They had Pappy, but I'm not wasting money on that anymore. Food came out quickly and we ate and watched a baseball game. The locals at the bar told us about their membership program where I guess for a small mo they fee you get a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate once a month. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I don't live anywhere near there, but if I did I'd certainly join. In any case, if you live anywhere close, this is definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit. Seems like there were quite a few singles there as well if you are looking to meet someone. I have no idea what the dating scene is like in Lemont, but this might be a good spot to try.

She directed us to get our own water from the self-serve station. I did like that I could do the wine flight from the table vs. they only offer the 6 wine tasting from the bar. I was a little disappointed that no one explained which wine was which, and I was left guessing when I ordered all sweet wines and a couple that looked very similar. When I later wanted to order a glass, I apparently picked the wrong one, but none of them were horrible so that was OK. I also ordered the small charcuterie plate, which was a perfect snack plate. Some of our party ordered flatbreads and wraps, which also looked really good, so I would definitely try this place again. This place doesn't seem like they're that good at accommodating large groups as they only have small round tables they had pushed together, but we made it work.
