They made my son's first birthday cake. Exactly as what I wanted and it matches my mickey theme. It was so delicious. It's a 2 layer cake with a mickey head, the flavors are chocolate cake with raspberry filling and yellow cake with cheesecake filling. My cake wasn't only beautiful but was also delicious and very fresh. Everyone loved it! They communicate really well and helpful- the price is good too. We ordered a cake for our baby's gender reveal and we were not disappointed! They offered several options and we loved what they came up with (forgot to take a before picture; we were just too excited). Not only did the cake come out adorable, but it was super tasty, too! I ordered two Custom Cakes two weeks ago I sent them specific pictures of what I wanted I go pick up the cakes today and it's nothing at all close to the pictures I sent them. They look completely horrible also Somewhere there was a miscommunication the design was horrible the owner himself was actually at the bakery and was disrespectful. He also spoke to me rudely and charged me an extra $70 for the mistake of his employees. I usually don't do this . But I am upset! My huge house warming is TOMORROW and TODAY my loved one picked up my cake and sent me a picture! My name is spelled absolutely WRONG and the cake is supposed to say "Jasmin's First Apartment." My cake clearly says Jasmin's First Department . This is HORRIBLE ! Before my loved one picked up the cake, I called NY CUPCAKERY & asked them to send a picture of the cake before I pick up . His response was "Take a picture when HE/SHE comes in and they will send it to you." This could have easily been avoided if a picture of the cake was simply emailed to me . HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE . I asked to be compensated for the horrible customer service and errors to the cake . Stopped in here when I still lived closer, and the store had literally JUST opened. I love that they sell cupcakes in three sizes, small ( a tiny little cupcake), regular (a normal cupcake similar in size from when you were a kid), and large (a crumbs style big cupcake). The cupcakes themselves are quite moist and tasty. Though I admit to being a little underwhelmed by my go-to favorite the red velvet, the other flavors are def. worth a try. Wow I can not believe all these great reviews! Was I there on a bad day. I bought and assortment of 12 mini cupcakes, and 1 regular size cupcake. The 1 regular size cupcake was the rainbow cookie one. It was so dry that I cut it open, at the inside of the jelly, and then threw it out. It was actually horrible and did not even taste like a rainbow cookie. Just plain bad. As for the little ones. I think the flavors were there, but they were just so incredibly dry. Seriously some of them were so gross and dry I needed so much water to get it down. There was like one cupcake I remember that was awesome. I think it was the cookie dough one. It was very moist and the icing was yummy. I remember I was shocked this one was in the bunch because it was so different from the others... Purchased cupcakes for a dental hygiene graduation party. The cupcakes were to have a decoration of tooth, toothbrushes, toothpaste etc. the cupcakes tasted good but the designs looked like a child made them. Also the food dye that was used stained the fingers of every cupcake eater. They were kind of embarrassing to put out at the party, but at least they tasted good. Very bad experience with my husband's 40th birthday cake. So dissatisfied.. Between the design and cake. Very dry/stale. When I expressed my dissatisfaction was told my fault since I never sent them a picture of my husband to put on cake( the cake design wasn't based on that) and that the dry/staleness of cake is just the way that cake is! I ordered 10 dozen mini cupcakes from here to be delivered to the restaurant I had my baby shower at this past weekend. They arrived on time and they were moist and delicious. Everyone had 3 and 4 each. I was a little nervous because I didn't have much other then fruit for dessert to serve to my guests if the cupcakes weren't up to par.. But everything was perfect. The order, the delivery and the fact that they were so fresh and moist there was no doubt they were baked the morning of.. They did charge a delivery fee of $25 but I felt it was worth it instead of rushing around before the party to pick them up. The cup cakes aren't cheap but if you go around tasting and comparing you'll find yourself back at NY Cupcakery spending the extra few bucks a dozen. I wish I could give 0 stars! We had an absolutely TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE experience with this place. The sad thing is this is the 3rd time we've used them for expensive, custom cakes. The first time was amazing, the second was so-so (they spelled my daughter's name wrong on a $200+ cake and the cake was reasonably different from the photo) and today's was the last time we will ever use them. I ordered a themed birthday cake a few weeks ago. I explained that I did not want the characters in fondant and would bring them in, they wrote it on receipt. I emailed them a photo of cake, my daughter's age and name and any changes to the cake photo I wanted. I got no receipt of email, but I paid the deposit so I figured we're all good to go. On the day of the birthday party we went to pick up the cake. I brought the two figures that were listed on the receipt to add to the cake. The only thing I regret is not taking a photo of what they showed me when I went to pick it up. It looked as if my husband and I had taken a baking class and then stuck figures I brought on top of the cake. There was NOTHING on top of the cake - NO fondant, NO Happy Birthday or name and it did not match the photo I gave them. It was BARE on top of the cake and my two small figurines were definitely not going to cover it. It is almost comical that they had a clear picture and made a different cake.... In the back, they put on the figures I gave them and scribbled Happy 3rd Birthday. It looked worse than a Carvel or store-bought cake - (the picture clearly showed Happy Birthday cut out in fondant) I asked for my deposit back and then I had less than 30 minutes to find a cake. (I went with Carvel and the Happy Birthday looked the same or better, but this cake was for $100+ less). The sad thing is if the cake was beautiful, I would have paid more money than I was initially quoted. The sadder thing is they LOST a customer by not trying to accommodate and still expected full payment and anytime ANYONE asks about where to buy a custom cake, I will make sure I tell them NOT to use this place. read more

I picked up an assortment of 17 mini cupcakes a few days ago for some friends that work at a local animal shelter. I ate 2-3 cupcakes myself. It was really good. The cake had a nice consistency, moisture, and overall taste. The icing was delicious. The surprising different flavors tickled my taste buds similar to a mixed box of chocolates. I was super disappointed at this bakery. The cupcakes are just an imitation of the Cupcakery on the West Coast. They are smaller but just as pricey and not as delicious. Very disappointed. So this Saturday would have been the second time I used Ny Cupcakery and I am extremely disappointed. The first time wasn't bad at all but the second time I have to say I am so displeased. I ordered a super Mario cake for my sons 7th birthday which cost me $286. Now I don't mind paying for what I want but for that price it should be absolutely know imperfections what so ever. So I get the cake and the cake looked some what like the photo not as neat as I would I like, but I excepted the imperfections and went on my way. The real problem that I have is the fact that once I got my cake to the party destination literally 45 minutes later and I put the cake on display, the entire cake to toppled over and fell apart. It was so soft that it couldn't even hold its shape. The cake was not exposed to extreme heat temperatures as we drove it In a car in January temp. I mean who pays $286 for a cake that turns to mush bc its to soft to stand on its own. If there cakes require all day refrigeration and must be eaten cold (gross) I should have been told that. Oh and after speaking with one of the party guest who also use to use NY Cupcakery she informed me the same thing happened with her sons lion king cake which is why she never returned... My sister recommended this place to me for my husband's birthday cake and I have to say everyone was amazed how delicious and gorgeous it looked. We had a custom design (in the shape of NY Nets basketball) and it turned out perfect. I also ordered matching cupcakes in different flavors and they were equally as delicious- even a few days later they tasted the same. The cake and cupcakes were so moist, which is especially hard to do with red velvet since it can get dry. Loved it! Prices are great as well! If you book them, I would recommend to do it in person or follow up a few times. I had to call them a couple of times about my order and I'm glad I did since they didn't have my order scheduled for delivery as originally agreed.
