For some, sitting in a dental chair is difficult, but for myself, a dentist, it is next to impossible.   I have followed all of the flossing and brushing instructions that I provide to my patients. I always thought that nothing could ever happen to my teeth!  I was wrong!   I wanted only the best for myself, so I chose a master, someone who understands conservative biological dentistry, is extremely meticulous and also will travel the world learning the most current techniques in restorative dentistry. Last Friday I found myself in Dr Tabib's chair having my teeth repaired.    When I arrived at the office I was greeted by Linda, a superb dental assistant, who truly loves her job. Stephanie helped me relax into the treatment room. Two hours later my work was completed and here is my synopsis:         I felt nothing- Dr Tabib's injections are completely painless- he uses a state of the art machine that gives the Novocain without any discomfort       I felt confident- the symphony that was going on to restore my tooth was flawless. Materials- state of the art materials were being used. Hot towels- don't forget the little details - that's what even made the visit even better. No pain during and afterwards. The gold standard. When you make an appointment they want your credit card info and it cost roughly $350.00. I told them I will pay in cash but for appointment purpose I did give them my credit card info. I was already charge the $350.00 even though I didn't go to the appointment yet. That bothers me. It's like what if you had some emergency and you can't go they will still charge you. Most other doctors if you give them enough time will not charge you. read more

Was treated for a year for TMD with just a small amount of relief. Charged large fees. Other doctors reached out to offer help with my case but they were not welcomed. He does not follow GNM protocols and visits are REALLY short. My neck was never evaluated as part of the protocol. This is by far the best Dentist all around !It's wonderful to find a dentist that is kind and trust worthy and that you look forward to visiting! I just had my first visit and check up at NYC Smile Design with Dr. Tabib and the incredible staff. Everyone was not only friendly, but knowledgable on their areas of dentistry. The procedures and tools used were like something out of Star Trek, cutting edge and very cool. The experience was painless as care and touch were integrated into every part of the process. Great experience! I've been coming here for years. Caring and professional dentists that know what they're doing. Very friendly staff too. Dental equipment is continuously updated with the latest and greatest technology. The dentists and staff make you feel so comfortable like you are at home; they constantly check on you to make sure you are alright and at ease. Some of the complimentary amenities they offer include: hot and cold beverages in the waiting area; toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, and perfume in the bathroom; and music and TV in the patient rooms. I absolutely hate going to the dentist (as many do) but Dr. Mello and her staff are top notch and make the experience easy and pleasant. I'm still a procrastinator when it comes to getting regular X-rays and cleaning, but they make it easier to keep it top of mind. I discovered this dental office through a friend who had gotten his invisalign from there. I was impressed by the quality of work done on his teeth so I asked him about his dentist. Now as for my own personal experience with NYC Smile Design, I have to say that it has been very good. The pros are self evident. They are courteous, professional, clean, and knowledgeable at what they do, and most importantly they get the job done correctly. As for the cons... Well I haven't experienced any yet. Either way, anything outside the treatment of your teeth is auxiliary so even if there is a con, it wouldn't be a defining factor. . Would I recommend NYC Smile Design to someone else? I had, what was considered by many, a hardly noticeable chip between my two front teeth, caused by biting on a bone years ago. In addition to being a habitual teeth grinder, the bottoms of my two front teeth were getting very brittle. As s performer, I felt very self-conscious of the chip, especially after seeing video clips and photos of my performances with my mouth wide open hitting a note, and my teeth looking very noticeably--to me at least--chipped and unattractive. NYC Smile Design has basically become my second home this past year as I was getting treatment with Dr. Mello. The whole staff are so caring, always want to make sure you feel comfortable, so easy to get appointments...and honestly they are fun! (Never thought I'd say that about a dentist.) Dr. Mello made all my smile dreams come true, I know that sounds very corny...but when you hate your smile you laugh a little less and smile only when absolutely necessary. Being a child in Ireland in the seventies meant that I had been traumatized into a state of panic at the very mention of a dentist by the time I was ten. As a result I stayed away from dentists for most of my adult life. Add to that a two pack a day cigarette habit and a couple of decades of alcohol abuse and by the time I was forty the inside of my mouth resembled an unkempt seventieth century european graveyard. Seven years ago, I started cleaning up my act, first went the booze, then the smokes, but the teeth remained and boy did they hurt; not just physical pain, though that was bad enough, but the psychic pain of walking around with a mouthful of teeth that needed to be hidden at all times. I had stopped smiling in public. Here I was feeling better than I had in years with a baby daughter who filled me with joy and I was paranoid about smiling in public. One day in an act of desperation I googled "Smile" and "Dentist" and "New York City", I found Smile Design. I looked them up, they seemed way out of my league, even if I could afford to go for a consultation I thought there's no way I could reveal the inside of my mouth to a dentist, they'd call the dental police on me, they'd have me executed if they got a glimpse of the neglect I concealed daily with clamped lips. But I needed to do something, so I wrote to them, I sent them a picture of my teeth, I told them I needed help and that I couldn't afford the work needed to correct the trauma in my mouth. Then something miraculous happened; they invited me to their office. I went. I met Dr Tabib and Dr Mello, and they put me at ease instantly. I liked them. They were nice people. I felt a sense of trust that I'd never experienced before in a dental office. Then they told me something that has changed my life, they told me that they would take care of my teeth for free....YES...YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT...FREE. I cried in their office that day, it still brings tears to my eyes. When you witness an act of generosity like that it opens your tear ducts, it opens your heart, and it made me smile. I made a short movie documenting my own life at that time, in it you get a sense of what the transformation meant for me. I wanted to honor the gift artistically to the best of my ability. After I got my teeth fixed my smile returned in full force, I met a girl and fell in love, we got married in Central park a couple of months ago, Dr Tabib and Dr Mello were there with us to share in the joy.
