The dim lighting works perfectly with the décor, and the metal entrance door gives the place a cool, slightly old-school vibe. There's plenty of parking, plus street parking, so no need to circle the block 15 times questioning your life choices. Now, the important part: the food. They have a really good variety of lunch specials at very reasonable prices. The food overall is tasty, but the pizza is definitely the star of the show. Artisan-style, full of flavor, and with a great balance between portion size and quality. The drinks are good too, with plenty of options. The restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms--which, yes, absolutely matters! And whatever you do, save room for dessert. Seriously. It's a great way to finish the meal... even if five minutes earlier you swore you were completely full. Definitely a nice find, and a place I'd visit again.

We opted for the lemon pepper wings; perfectly crispy delicious flavor. The main course we shared the Margherita pizza! OMG, the crust is so light & buttery with fresh mozzarella, not too much sauce. Andrea's service is great, the decor & restaurant is cozy with a warm feeling. If it wasn't for the 13 school staff wanting to split each check & arguing who got what, we could've paid. You better grab a slice of the Brooklyn pizza right away, though, because it's a traditional-looking pizza with pepperoni and sausage. You won't get a second shot at a slice. You'll get to finish the rest of the "adult" strawberry & bacon salad, though, with spinach instead of lettuce, walnuts, strawberries, and bacon bits. It doesn't come with ranch or even ranch-colored dressing, so they might not risk trying a pinkish salad dressing as a dip for their pizza crust. It's a very good salad and helped my vacation digestion, since I'm not used to the 110° August heat. Papa Paul's Pizza is less than a mile away from my room at the Wigwam. Going there would even be walkable in the summer heat if the fences around the Wigwam had pedestrian gates. As it is, both driveway gates on that corner of the Wigwam are slotted through the perimeter fence far from the place where Papa Pauls and the resort are just across the street from each other. I'm too delicate for a 0.9-mile walk in that much sun. I enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar to rehydrate, though, while I waited for the pizzas to come out of the oven.

Sauce was clearly made in house, but the pasta itself was generic and did not taste like it was homemade. Good amount of protein though. We also ordered the mango and classic cannolis, and these stole the show. Flaky to perfection! If we come back, we might try the pizzas to see how it compares to the pasta.

(This is crucial) When you work very hard to put out a good product and business is good, you get very tired, but don't forget to appreciate your clientele, they also work very hard for the money they're very willing to give you on the other side of your cash register. It works both ways. Cleanliness was just okay, but bordering tattered and dirty! This is also a confusion for me. Re-invest in your atmosphere. It's really not that expensive if you keep up on the little things and not let it become a huge turn off. I would hope this critique would be constructive not a put down. As I mentioned, "the pizza was actually very good", we just live too far for take-out.

So many places think "New York style" simply means making a large slice. Lil Capo understands it's really about the balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and texture. Every bite reminded me why I miss pizza back east. Then, in late January-early February 2021, I helped my parents move across the US to where they live now in Lancaster, PA, only about 100 miles drive instead of a long flight across the US. My dad let me have his birthday free Grimaldi's pizza since they were busy with moving stuff. I drove from my parents far west valley home on the last day they were there for an early dinner on that warm Thursday, January 28, 2021. They had plenty of outside seating, which I opted for. I feel like the inside was closed for dine-in because of Covid, but I was also trying to be cautious as I didn't want to catch Covid while driving my parents across the US. Thankfully, it was a beautiful Sunny & 75 F with calm winds. On that note, on that Sunday 4 days earlier when I left DC, I ate outside before getting to DCA airport (even I think having the option to eat inside) with a cold 38 F high, but I was being super careful before my trip. The server was friendly & efficient. I got a pizza with sausage. It was a thin NY style pizza, which was delicious, although I stopped eating pork later in 2021. But there are a wide variety of toppings, and I would have found something else good that would've worked. Additionally, I opted to buy dessert to be nice; some Oreo cake, which was solid. But the real highlight is their delicious pizza.

The employee explained that their pizza oven is unavailable from approximately 3:15-4:15 PM for a routine process they perform on the oven, so pizza would not be available during that time. Because we were specifically coming for pizza, I asked if moving our reservation to 4:15 PM would work instead. I was told yes and that the oven would be ready at that time. Based on that information, I moved our reservation rather than looking elsewhere for dinner. I arrived before my family, and almost immediately after sitting down, the server greeted me by asking, "Did they tell you it's going to be 45 minutes for a pizza?" Apparently, the oven was still not ready. I explained that I had specifically moved our reservation to 4:15 because I was told the oven would be available then. Had I been told there was a possibility of another 45-minute wait, I simply would have made a reservation somewhere else. I appreciated the server being upfront about the wait once I arrived, but this should have been communicated when I made the reservation. I was also disappointed with how the situation was handled. Being immediately greeted with a warning about a 45-minute wait, rather than an acknowledgment or apology for the miscommunication, was not a great way to start the experience. I was surprised there did not appear to be a manager available to address the situation or offer any kind of accommodation. We ultimately left and found another nearby restaurant that was able to accommodate our family before our event. I used to enjoy coming to this location, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, after the poor communication and lack of customer service, I don't see myself returning.

NYPD - your pizza is just edible!! & Too Expensive!!! I like to consider myself as a pizza aficionado. Been to NY and had the pizza many times... I recently moved into the Avondale area for the college here.. I tried all the pizza places around and here, and there are several good ones, -- but none compare to NY although "Palermo's" on dysart is close, I've been here about 6 times and each time the pizza was the same (I thought it would get better due to all the "good" reviews etc.) I found the pizza crust to be too soft kind of like eating bread dough...Real NY Pizza has a crispy crunch, then chewy on the inside crust etc. Every time I've been here the pizza has very little topping, the sausage tastes like imitation, the sauce - somethings missing - tasted like sweet n chunky spaghetti sauce, and the mushrooms taste canned, very disappointing... I really wanted to like this pizza parlor because it's so close to my Apt. How this place has 4 stars is beyond me?..... Sorry NYPD - your pizza is just edible, & way too expensive!... read more

Ok sooo I lived in New York (the Bronx to be specific) for two years. That doesn't qualify me as an outright New Yorker but I consider myself at least knowledgeable about the food. Let me tell you I've been to a ton of "New York" pizza places on the west coast and this is the first that gets it right...not the garlic knots but they are still good...but the pizza was spot on and even my picky five year old said it was the best. I tried NYPD pizza for the first and was very impressed with their service and food making. The place was clean and organized, and was quickly seated to my table. The food was served right away, and the pizza wasn't greasy like some pizza places make it. The waitress was very kind, and took care of our needs. So I suspect that it may have been some cross contamination with the veggies. It's also important to state that I am not 100% sure that it was the pizza that made us sick. It was simply the last thing we ate before we got sick. So, I guess I would just remind the staff about how cross contamination occurs and how to avoid it.

The toppings were generous and high quality. You can really taste that everything is fresh. Even the side of garlic bread was warm, soft inside, and crispy on the edges - addictive !! Service was super friendly and fast. My order was ready right on time for pickup, and the staff even threw in a couple of extra dipping sauces with a smile. The place has easily become my new go-to-pizza spot in the valley. If you're looking for authentic, delicious pizza that doesn't break the bank, stop by here immediately. You won't be disappointed !!
