As part of a family reunion we came here for a special dinner while staying at Fairmont Hot Springs. Being from Northern California, not too far from Napa, we know good restaurants, and definitely good Italian This was by far one of the best Italian restaurants I've had the pleasure of patronizing. I sure hope western Montana people appreciate what they have here. This is one remarkable restaurant. You could put O'Bella down anywhere in the country, including downtown San Francisco or Seattle, and they'd more than compete. The calamari is superb. The bread sticks are the best I've eaten anywhere. I can't find enough superlatives to describe the lemon aoli. The baked chicken parmesan is a wonderful variation on a classic dish. Salads are fresh with some surprising combinations of ingredients that all just work impeccably. Seasonings are perfect. Oh, and the chocolate chip cookie dessert is so well done it takes what is often a cliche dessert to a whole different level. If I lived closer, I'd weigh 375 lbs again. If you're on I-90 and don't take the nine mile side trip to Anaconda, you're missing what I believe is the best restaurant in Montana (yes, even better than Chico and Walker's). For that matter, take a day trip and eat lunch there, wander on up to Phillipsburg and come back for dinner. Stay at Fairmont Hot Springs for the pools, but skip the mediocre (at best) food at the resort and make the quick eight mile run to O'Bella. You won't be sorry. It's fine and I'd return. Open all afternoon and nearby an excellent golf course. The reviews about "best place in town" are due to a lack of good food anywhere around. Montana's motto "The Last Best Place" is true, but is not referring to its restaurants or grocery stores. The parmesan cheese is in a condiment rack on the table, kept there overnight. Walking in, you're greeted by an overweight teenager who frowns upon seeing you. The server thinks running around feeling put upon is a sign of good service. The food is surprisingly not bad, a step-up from Dennys and prepared well. The pasta sauce is hinting at Del Monte canned tomato paste, artificial flavorings combined with sodium. The salad is lettuce sprinkled with packaged cabbage and carrot shreds, and includes croutons made from last night's leftover bread. The interior is a tight rectangle with cheap wooden chairs on a finished tile floor so every time someone gets up, the chair legs make a loud slamming sound. Incredible little place! It was recommended by the staff at The Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and what a find! Clean and very well decorated with nice music. The staff was incredibly helpful and courteous. The bread sticks were the best I have had and I lived in Germany and spent tons of time in Italy. The Spaghetti with Bolognese Sauce was primo and the Chicken Parmesan was top notch. We were very impressed and will definitely be coming back, if only to eat here and nothing else. Bravo! read more

If you are in Anaconda do yourself a favor and stop into O'Bella for lunch or dinner. We were looking for a decent lunch during a 10 hour drive to Flathead lake and decided to try O'Bella. Between the 3 of us we had, gluten free pasta with bolognese, chicken picatta, and gluten free truffle mac and cheese. All were delicious. I had read reviews about the mac and cheese and I'll just say it lives up to the hype! Service was excellent, which is a far cry from most restaurants right now. O'Bella was so good we decided to have lunch again on our way back home from vacation. Definitely worth the stop. read more

Wow - what a surprise this place is! The quality of the meal we had here was something that we would expect to find in places like San Francisco, Charleston, or Los Angeles - not a tiny little town like Anaconda! I had the chicken pesto pasta with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts with a lovely glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and my husband had a pizza. We shared a Caesar salad. Oooooh my goodness! You MUST try this place if you are near Anaconda. We got the garlic breadsticks and would highly recommend them if you love garlic as much as we do. I got the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, in future I would probably get it with a meatball instead or something because my boyfriend got the spaghetti with meatballs with the bolognese and that was also SO yummy! So this has quickly become my favorite hometown restaurant. Their quality is excellent and the atmosphere is Italian without being cheesy and cliched. Once you walk in in you are treated to Sinatra crooning through the speakers, the background music being a delightful mix of crooners, the lamps hanging over each table are beautiful colored glass that give off a soft glow instead of a harsh glare. The staff is amazing and attentive, and you'll often see the owner bustling through the place, checking on diners. I'm a huge fan of the breadsticks, twisted together to resemble a unicorn horn (as my niece says, an order of 'unicorn twists'), it comes with the ranch and pomodoro sauces. My favorite salad is the small wedge and followed by the excellent Black Truffle Mac and Cheese, with gruyere cheese and black truffle sauce, orecchiette pasta baked with panko on top and served with a warm roll. This is my favorite thing to get here, even though the fettuccine and scampi are divine. Their pizzas, delicious and authentic, are perfect for take out (you can eat them there but whenever I'm in the mood for pizza I prefer to go and pick up here rather than delivery from the Hut). I've had a couple of their desserts, they are just as divine as the rest of the meal. So if you're looking for somewhere nice for dinner out in Anaconda (or don't mind make the trip into town) this is the place. read more

What a gem. Freshly baked light and flaky bread dough covered in cheese and garlic butter. By far the best bread sticks I've ever had. Service was fast, friendly, and answered all our questions happily. The servings were very large and we all had leftovers to take home. OMG if you like calamari you HAVE to get it here! The calamari itself was cooked perfectly with delicious GF breading and the lemon aioli sauce was to die for! We both had lemon piccata, GF again!, and it was wonderful! The place has wonderful ambience and is very clean. We will be back when we are back in town in a month. My new favorite restaurant in the area! There were two other GF options for dinner and GF pasta. All the salads were GF too. They make all the salad dressings, sauces and the rolls (I think) from scratch. Update: went back and had the GF Alfredo with shrimp. Noodles were slightly under cooked. I took most of my dinner home and nuked it and had it for lunch. It was better. I will rave about their homemade cheesecake...it was SOOO good I ate the whole thing on the way home (minus the crust!) We were a group of 15 family members coming through town from the ski hill. They were so accommodating to getting us all to sit together and found a place for us to all visit while we waited for them to get our tables all together. I wished I could remember the young man's name who waited on us because he was so good. The place was packed and he had other tables and he kept up with our group.
