I ordered a coffee latte. The employee handed to me only 1/4 full. He said he followed the instructions and that was all he got. He still charged me $6.00. The drive thru concept is good and it's a nice quick treat after nearby sushi. They have 2 locations- an indoor storefront and an outdoor drive thru ice cream truck near a gas station. The drive thru location has been hit or miss for me. The cookies and cream and mint chip were usually the safe bets. Flavor was there, though there was one time the cookies and cream consistency had some icy chunks. The latest mint chip was the one that was disappointing. It tasted old with random bites that had a slimy texture, like it wasn't mixed well. Makes me wonder about the quality control - how well the ice cream is made and often they change out their ice cream. Service has usually been friendly enough, but I've had better ice cream experiences in their other indoor ice cream shop. Hope the quality improves in this location! read more

The ice cream here is genuinely delicious, and that's the reason I kept coming back. Unfortunately, the customer service has consistently been disappointing. The staff don't seem very welcoming, or maybe I've just been unlucky every time I've visited. I always feel uncomfortable asking for napkins because they look annoyed, as if ice cream never melts or gets messy. Anyone who has ever been around children knows that ice cream is probably the easiest thing for a child to get all over their face and hands. Yet I usually have to ask more than once just to get a napkin. Since this has happened on more than three separate visits, I felt it was worth mentioning. Hopefully the owner sees this and takes it seriously. The second issue is pricing. Every time I ask how much one scoop costs, I'm told it's $6. However, when I check my card afterward, I've been charged around $7.50. To be clear, the extra $1.50 isn't the main issue. The problem is being told one price and then being charged a different amount without any explanation. Until the owner addresses these concerns and responds to this issue, I won't be coming back for ice cream. read more

I've been to O'Brien's in Walnut Creek, but this little drive thru is closer to where I live so I was excited to visit. My husband and I just went for a walk, so we decided to treat ourselves to a little treat. When we pulled up, we thought it was closed at first because no one was at the window. It took a few seconds for someone to actually get up from where they were sitting to take our order. Once he sat up, we placed our order quick and was on our way. Did you know they let me do half and half of two different scooops of ice cream and count it as one total?! I got half cookies and cream half coffee My mom and grandma got the Maui waui kinda like pineapple dole whip with some other tropical flavor on it My aunt got strawberry Must get is the waffle bowl So thin and crisp! Love that it's like a drive thru so we don't even need to get out of the car! Props to them and ima visit next time I'm in town! The one serving us, she was so sweet and gave us time to decide what flavor to get and made suggestions when I asked Ambiance is fairly casual There's like a drive thru box with the person in it serving and cashiering so it's really quick! read more

In the are and after having Indian food for lunch in nearby Benicia over the bridge I was craving some ice cream. I saved O Briens on my go to list and today was a best opportunity to finally try it . My Waze got me there just hard finding exactly where it is when you make the final turn because it's so tiny of a place. It's the size of a cafina drive thru. There is only like one arrow in the asphalt pavement to guide you which way the pull-up ordering window. Young lady working was very helpful seemed joyful to work there . I told her what flavor and size and it was so simple and fast no one in front of me . Winter time , guessing during peak summer and hot day this place must get busy. Across the street is (SAFEWAY) anyways the ice cream it tasted like ice cream from the store to me. But then again I ordered something simple without toppings. Overpriced at $6 but that's life these days. The pricy menu is a negative . I don't pipe fire it 5 stars if the prices are more adequate for the quality . I had to ask for napkins too but the service and speed made up for any nuisances. read more

My daughter enjoyed her chocolate milkshake, which is the only reason I'm giving three stars. Unfortunately I feel like I wasted my money on the bionico. It was made with frozen fruit that seemed more suited for smoothies, not a proper bionico. Bionico is supposed to be made with fresh fruit and canned condensed milk. I should have known better because this place is not traditional Mexican food so I should have expected that it would not be a traditional bionico. A nice hidden spot at the old Caffino/Java drive thru coffee place. You can either drive thru or walk up to get your ice cream. This place can get busy so try to go in the middle of the week or during off hours. Ice cream was good and tasted fresh. I got the strawberry ice cream which had bits of strawberries which was a nice surprise. They also have different flavors like avocado and chamoy which is a nice change of pace from the standard flavors you find at other places. read more

This is my second time having ice cream here. It is a very convenient location in Martinez that you can just drive through. My first visit I had the Kona ice cream shake and it was delicious. This time I had a regular scoop of strawberry on a cone and I was not impressed. The flavor seemed fine, but the ice cream was not smooth, or creamy but it was very icy, and as you tried to eat it, it would just crumble and fall off the cone. it actually made a mess in my car. Hopefully there's just something going on with the freezer and the ice cream just got a little too frozen. My daughter also got a cone of a different flavor and the same thing happened. I will be back to give them another try, but was disappointed in our experience. The person that took our order was prompt and very helpful. read more

Horrendous experience. Watch out if you have small children. We are going to have to have our child get a blood draw to make sure he didn't ingest pest poison. The waffle bowl had a terrible chemical taste. When I came up to the window, I was told that they don't use any cleaning chemicals at all, only windex. Which seems improbable, so they don't clean their surfaces? But, I could smell that chemical when I came up to the window. My take is that some chemical was accidentally sprayed on the waffle. Maybe a cleaning chemical or I hope not any pest poison. Will never come back here or to any O'Brien's. And I am contacting the Health Department. read more

Disappointing. Tiny scoops of cheap MeadowGold Dairy ice cream on extremely stale cones for $5 each. Low-quality ice cream made with too much added water. More like "icy cream". Mouthfeel closer to a paleta than a quality ice cream. I wrongly presumed it would be family run, with delicious and original homemade ice cream flavors. I can buy a whole 1.5 quart container of MeadowGold Moose Tracks for $5. But they're open until 8pm year round and make for a fun drive-thru experience for kids, extra star. read more

I ordered the strawberries and cream and it was horrible. The cream was just greek yogurt and the strawberries were completely frozen. They are literally inedible and it was a waste of $7. I would not get this again. The worker was also not very friendly. read more

My son and his girlfriend had the Vietnamese coffee as well. We all ended up throwing the ice cream away. The server was very nice and doing the best she could do given a crowded Sunday. I think they have other locations, but I will avoid them as well. Worst ice cream we've ever had, sticking with Loard's ice cream from now on.
