This little place is grrrreat!! I loved it! The atmosphere is fun with old prints on the wall by Mucha and the like with some more modern things... the place is divided up with decorated pallets to break up seating and offer some privacy. The hash browns super FRESH!! Crisp too. The prosciutto was a tad firm like it had been warmed but it's my only grip. Perfect egg a hollandaise is more like a gravy, but great taste, tastes fresh like it was made in house... I had the eggs Benedict with the prosciutto, hashbrowns and salad. My partner had country breakfast with sausage and eggs, hash brown potatoes, and crostinis. The Mimosa did not skimp on the champagne!! Black coffee was fresh, hot, robust. The bakery items we have not sampled yet, but may have to take something home! They look divine!!! Service was awkward until we figured out what was going on?? Order then find a table... reminds me a little bit of the battery in Santa Cruz, at a smaller scale?? Maybe serve butter with toast?? WOW! This Café is a Gem!! My husband and I found this café a year or so ago. And we frequent it quite regularly. The food is Delicious the Service is Outstanding and the Ambiance is worthy of a date night or catch up with your Besties. If that isn't enough had lost my money clip. a couple weeks ago. My wife happen to be home on a Friday. She got a knock on my door and it's the owner of O Café with my money clip I had left it at O café. Need I say more. Absolutely love Cafe O! This local gem has a true community vibe, making it the perfect place to gather. The baked treats are a testament to their craftsmanship--no mass production here! They offer the best breakfast in the area with everything just right. The ingredients are fresh, like meaty, non-watery mushrooms, fresh spinach, and tiny delicious potatoes. I had an egg white omelet with mushrooms, bacon, spinach, and gruyere--absolutely fabulous and a large enough portion to take home. Prices are great, too, much less expensive than most places and so much better--skip the omelet at the Brew Pub! Their little quiche for under $6 is a spectacular deal, and the coffee is divine--no diner coffee here. Thank you, Cafe O, for elevating Fair Oaks! I had originally intended to go to another Fair Oaks restaurant for lunch but I got there and they were closed. A quick Yelp search led me to the O Cafe - and I'm so glad that it did! We used to go to Dianda's, which occupied this spot previously, and O Cafe seems like a great follow-up to that. I got a BLT, which came with a side salad and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was really delicious and I would definitely order again. My only complaint is that the menu on their website isn't reflective of what is on their menu now, so just make sure you are flexible if you are going to make a call-in order. :) read more

Love to come to O Cafe for coffee and maybe a little something sweet from their tempting bakery shelves before going for a walk by the river. The coffee is good and the people who work here are always friendly. They a few small tables outside in front and there's plenty more seating inside too. My friend and I split a Pear Tart slice. It was just perfect! My friend claims that their coffee drinks are the best anywhere. I was just happy to have iced tea with flavor! Our group of six ladies (and you know how a group of gals will talk, talk, talk!!) were never rushed, drink refills as well as attentive service given and was much appreciated. The vast array of pastry offerings are made on site by two very talented chefs and meals though made to order, did not take very long to arrive. If you've read my scathing review of the "Reuben" sandwich at Cheese Louise in Roseville, you already know I'm a Reuben fanatic. However, I also have a secondary obsession with a really good CROISSANT. And I love to patronize new locally owned small businesses....Always hoping to find that diamond in the rough. My daughter and I checked out the new O Cafe yesterday morning in Old Fair Oaks Village. The cashier told me they have a French pastry chef so I was pretty jazzed. (Confession, I have been lucky enough to enjoy freshly baked croissants in France with local butter and fruit preserves, so the bar is pretty high.) Visually the croissant looked very appealing, possibly slightly over browned. Sadly, it was not warm and they did not offer to heat it. Nor did they offer pats of butter, jam or anything else fun to put on it. My first bite revealed that although the interior was fluffy and fairly tasty, the bottom was almost crunchy and the phrase day-old came to mind. Somehow I expected it to be softer in texture given that the cashier said they made them fresh daily. I also did not detect much of a butter taste. However, at $2 each, definitely an enjoyable breakfast treat. Would have been so much nicer with something to pair it with. I should also note that they offered a chocolate croissant but we sampled the plain one. My daughter also tried a cup of hot tea. Basically they handed her a styrofoam cup of hot water with no lid and an herbal tea bag. She enjoyed the tea, but they charge $4 for it which is ridiculous. Also, for safety and convenience reasons, I would recommend they make lids available at the place where they hand you the steaming cup of hot water. Instead you have to walk across the restaurant to locate a lid. The ambience is cheerful and clean looking, and has a good vibe as a place where you could sit and talk. The decor is attractive and features the obligatory array of Fair Oaks' signature rooster themed art. The counter staff were cheerful and helpful. I would definitely go back again, but I want to wait a little bit to see if they tweak the lunch menu. The sandwiches looked interesting but not much variety. Bottom line, the croissant was not as fresh as it could be and the tea was overpriced, but it's a cute little locally owned place that serves its own baked goods, all of which looked delicious. Definite potential here and great location on the main drag of Old Fair Oaks Village. read more

I was sad to see Dianda's go. However was pleasantly surprised to see O Cafe move in! Their pastries look amazing -- I tried the white chocolate and strawberry scone. It's as sweet as it sounds and more of a pastry than a British (or even American) scone. It is very echo-y however. The polished concrete combined with bare cinder block walls create a stark atmosphere. Perhaps some large format paintings or wall hangings could help with sound control and add some ambiance. In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing this establishment grow and I'm coming back to try out their other menu items! read more

I'm giving 1 star for total lack of customer service. Should be zero stars. Went in this afternoon for the first time, and there were only 2 other people in line, but lots of people eating outside in a small space. Not once did I hear any staff say hello or ask customers what they would like to get or order, especially to the elderly person before me. By the time I was just by myself, I'm looking around waiting to be helped trying to make eye contact with several staff who seemed oblivious there's a customer wanting to order. 5 staff came from the back to the counter and not one even greeted me or acknowledged my presence. I just started asking what is this and how much as nothing in the cases had any prices nor was there a price list anywhere. It's fair oaks so maybe they expect the customers to have very big pockets. One staff had to ask another staff what is in the Oak cake. It amazes me when people working in a bakery don't even know what they sell. Even when I started asking questions, I can't even tell who is available to answer my questions. I actually asked who is helping me. Even then, it's like a teacher calling a student to answer a question. All eager to answer. Maybe they only like helping people of certain ethnicity even though the staff seem to be international. In writing this review, I haven't even tried the two items I bought. Not worth reviewing. I won't be going back. They're whole cakes are also super tiny. It's like a child made it in a toy oven. They didn't look good to buy either. Afterwards, I went to another bakery nearby. Better customer service and they have good cakes. Lots of bakeries exists, go spend your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Hidden gem. I was on my way to visit a dear friend on hospice who requested an almond croissant. First two places I tried were out, found O Cafe on Yelp and OMG. This place is amazing. The pastries are both beautiful and delicious. The breakfast sandwich was very yummy also. Most of all, the staff were so kind. The chef/owner (I think) came out to make sure everything was ok as I was organizing my togo order to eat in the car. He recommended I sit down to enjoy my sandwich and take a break (I had my baby with me), so I did, and he brought me a glass of water. It was just really nice and just what I needed on a sad day. This is for breakfast only, not the bakery. I debated whether giving a 2 star, because the coffee was good but this is probably the worst eggs Benedict, and possibly the worst breakfast, I've ever had. The eggs were burnt at the bottom, overcooked too. The prosciutto tasted old. The bread was not English muffin but regular white bread, like the tiniest piece of wonder bread you could find. The hollandaise sauce was gloopy and over salted. The hash browns were not fresh, they were very dry and tasted of nothing (almost like they were microwaved). We were told the eggs Benedict was really good, the best in town even but I'm not sure if the person who told us this has ever eaten other eggs Benedict. We also had an omelette where the eggs were over cooked. Overall I'm sure the bakery is fine, but avoid this place for breakfast. read more
