What a quaint and cozy place! My cousin lives nearby and wanted to bring me here and I'm very glad he did. You walk up and order and they bring your order to the table. The staff was very nice and friendly. I had the Croque Madam and my cousin had the Poullete sandwich (chicken). We did a split so we could try both items. They are both good in their own right. The Croque Madame was served open faced and served with a fresh salad with balsamic dressing. I'm assuming it was house made but I didn't ask. The Poullette was amazing! The bread was almost like a bruschetta, in that it was grilled over and open flame. Tasted so good! I ordered some desserts to take home. Chocolate shortbread cookies. (Kinda dry and may be moreso, not what I was expecting..I think) I grabbed a Palmier (haven't tried yet) and slice of the Oak Cake. Orangey, chocolatey and rich! Delicious. However, I feel compelled to address this directly to the owner or chef--or whoever the man was that rudely came out and confronted us at our table. My boyfriend, a well-known and respected Fair Oaks local who *never* complains, actually spoke up on my behalf--something that caught me off guard because *I'm* usually the one to send food back when it's wrong. I ordered avocado toast with over-easy eggs, but instead, my eggs were fried to a burnt, well-done crisp. Meanwhile, my boyfriend ordered the salmon eggs benedict and loved it, and we both enjoyed the fruit parfait we shared. But the eggs? They were awful. And when my sweet boyfriend--who, again, *never* complains--politely brought it to the staff's attention, the cook (who I suspect is also the owner) came out and snidely said, *"Well, you don't expect two free eggs, do ya?"* Umm... yeah, we kind of did--because they were completely botched. And, by the way, Mr. Owner/Chef, my boyfriend happens to be the former Mayor of Fair Oaks, and he's been voted "Best of Fair Oaks" multiple times--something your staff seemed completely unaware of, despite the fact that your own business is in the running. I also ordered a vegetarian quiche and it arrived after we were done eating, with an apology, so I appreciated that. I tried the quiche at home and wasn't for me, had a seafood type of flavor. Ambiance was very cute, it's self seating and pretty small restaurant so it can get crowded. The food was relatively pricey and left us disappointed. The French toast was super thin slices and was over dusted with powdered sugar and was a little overcooked on the bottom. The avocado toast can with very little avocado and very crispy pieces of bread. The lattes were pretty good if you're just stopping in for coffee. I had been here a few times after a bike ride and started bringing people when they visit from out of town. The food is really good. The place is very cute and the coffee is good. Most people buy one of their sweets with their meal. They are hard to resist. I especially like how nice the workers are. Afterwards it's a nice walk around with little stores. read more

As far as the food goes , there needs to definitely be more seasoning on there potatoes. My lemon tart has a good crust but lacked in lemon flavor. Carrot cake was very underwhelming as well. This place looked very promising and it was packed which means people genuinely love it so I hope others have a better experience and don't have to be talked down to by the chef. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and when they came out, the egg whites were RAW, as in they were runny and mucus-like. I asked if I could have new eggs (even apologized for sending it back) and the chef came out to tell me that that is just how eggs Benedict are and they're meant to be runny and seemed angry that I was questioning it. Before I could respond/explain to him that I was referring to the egg whites (not the runny yolk) and that I understood what poached eggs are supposed to look like, he stormed off!! When my new eggs came out, they were completely over cooked and over hard. It almost felt as if they purposely overcooked them to make a point! I am frustrated that I was not heard out when I was genuinely trying to ask for non-raw eggs, not be a complicated customer. There is no need for petty behavior when a customer is just pointing something out without being rude. Very sad because I was excited for this place and hope no other customer experiences this rudeness when something isn't ok. Though it looks from other 1 star reviews this isn't the first place the chef gets angry at customers... not a good look when the food wasn't even that special. Service: My service was excellent! I was greeted with a smile the moment I walked in and taken care of throughout my entire order experience. Shout out to Kylie! Being my first time here Kylie happily talked me through all the wonderful looking food choices. I'm surprised I didn't order one of everything. The almond croissant was light and fluffy, with a delicate amount of sweetness. I can't wait to try everything else. Unbelievable experience this morning. My friend and I met at this cafe to do some lesson planning for our AP Computer Science classes. We have this week off so meeting at the school wasn't an option as campus is closed. My friend arrived a little before 10am and ordered a full breakfast for herself and her daughter. I arrived at 10:15 and ordered an $8 mocha. At 11:45, we were informed by a man I can only assume was the owner that the establishment was a restaurant and not an office and that they needed the table. This place offers free WiFi, leading to the assumption that it's ok to do work here. It was also half full with plenty of available seating and tables. And we would have ordered lunch at noon if we hadn't have been thrown out. This place sucks and does not support educators or students in the area. Go ahead and cross them off your list. read more

Quite the find in the most charming part of Fair Oaks. The pastries are most like a European cafe. The young lady servicing the front counter is a great impression of what any store owner wants. She knows the products well to describe them in detail, so yes, I bought several items and some I've never heard of, all delicious. I'm looking forward to going back. Bring your wallet....Needed to try this place in Fair Oaks Village. I live in Fair Oaks so why not..... The location is nice and at the lunch hour parking can be somewhat of a challenge. The Cafe has local art on the walls which is nice to see and cement floors so it is very loud at lunch time. They have outdoor seating as well as indoor seating and a long bar counter by the door. My husband got the Croque Madame which had 2 thin cut pieces of ham, pepper cheese and a egg on top with tomatoes for $7.50 pretty well priced, but fairly small portion. I got the Veggie sandwich with eggplant, roasted red peppers, cucumbers and mushrooms. It was ok, but thought it was kinda bland tasting and almost $13.00 for a veggie sandwich was a little pricey. Our sandwiches with 2 waters was $21.00 and If we would of added some drinks it would of been probably close to $30.00 ... too expensive for 2 sandwiches at a small local cafe.... read more

Great food & service BUT LOUD ROCK AT 9AM!?? Some was hard rock. The young server nicely offered to turn it down and did. But soon after the older woman in the back (guessing the cook/boss) came out and turned it back up...then came out yet again turning it up even louder (heavyset Asian woman late 30's or 40's). Very inconsiderate of customers. We'd ordered a full breakfast so had to listen to that for quite awhile. Some softer music or even French music would've been nice as it is a French-ish cafe. The woman in back needs a speaker or headphones so she can crank it up a d doesn't chase away business. Most customers on this weekday were seniors so don't imagine they liked it either. I bopped on in on a recent mid Saturday afternoon after having lunch at Carmelita's which is a few blocks away. O Cafe is located in the adorable Fair Oaks village. The ordering protocol is to stand in line and order at the register. There is indoor seating and an outdoor patio. I bought a Napoleon (Mille-feuilles) and chocolate custard mini tart (I forgot the French name). Their version of the Napoléon is layers of puff pastry and cream topped with powdered sugar. Yum! With a parking spot vacant across the street I turned in and grabbed it as a sign of good luck. I'm glad I did. Patio dining on this Sunday morning was packed out but a couple was leaving so LuLu (my 11-pound dog) and I swooped right in. Another good sign! Went in and ordered at the counter "Oeuf Mollet"'for a late breakfast which is then delivered to your table. I like to eat or go places I can't pronounce and what a treat. Coffee was good, friendly efficient service and the one food item I tried was great. I'd come here again. Living in the Fair Oaks Area , I had to go and visit O Cafe , there location is fantastic with plenty of parking. The inside of the cafe to my surprise was quite big and plenty of room for customer. They offer a variety of sweets, coffee , sandwiches, salads and much more. I ordered a chicken sandwich with avocado salad and potatoes and it was very good , it was not dry , was not overcooked or undercooked it was perfect. It's nice to see a cafe like this in the old town of fair oaks , it's something we need more of. A few things I would of like to see is coffee made fresh , the cup of coffee I bought was not fresh and was warm not Hot. read more

The food was pricey for what you got. My wife ordered the "Country Breakfast" and asked for eggs over medium because they wouldn't do poached even though they have Benedict on the menu and got hard eggs. Hen she was charged extra for a pat of butter and jam for her toast. No where do they charge for butter and jam on your toast when you order a breakfast! I had the beef burgeon and got a small bowl of overly sour stew with hard carrots and minimal beef. The only saving grace was the cookie and danish that were both tasty. The location in Fair Oaks Village is ideal. Unfortunately, the food and service suffers because of it. There is outdoor seating and there were people who had their dogs there with them. This sweet little cafe has quickly become one of my most favorite places to visit. My daughter and I love to get coffee then sit and watch the comical roosters roaming around.
