I joined a meetup of the Chow Down Run Club, and the gathering spot was at Aun Brew & Co. in Rancho. Their other run club locations so far have been in Folsom and Fair Oaks. After the group run, we all met back to enjoy a drink together! This is a super cute little boba shop, with really cool local art, decor but even a piano and books if you want to hang out. I was able to get a happy hour discount on my drink, and I chose a Zen Garden which is a jasmine milk tea with matcha layered on top, and I added lychee jelly and sea salt foam as well. This was yummy, and a nice big cup size for an iced drink. Also got a card for BOGO Drink 50% off on my next visit. I have my eye on the Banana Matcha, the VIP Vietnamese Imperial Pandan, or the Sampaguita Milk Tea. I'm a huge fan of Vietnamese iced coffee. I order it almost every time I get Vietnamese food, and I have a phin filter at home and make my own often. I came in on a Saturday around 6 PM. The barista was quiet and reserved, not especially welcoming or personable. The menu describes the Vietnamese iced coffee as "phin filtered coffee with condensed milk," but it leaves out important details, like whether it's brewed to order or made ahead and kept in the fridge. I ordered, then used the restroom. It's well stocked, but the door has no handle, just a lock, with the handle hole covered by a piece of colored cardboard. I've been to plenty of rundown cafes and have never seen that. My coffee was ready in under two minutes, and it tasted very stale. Either it was brewed ahead and left sitting in a carafe, or it wasn't truly made with a phin. If a café can't get Vietnamese iced coffee right, I won't be back. Stale coffee, a neglected restroom, and underwhelming service. read more

The first time here it was when they had recently opened. The interior was all white & bright. Matcha served in such a large cup for $8 or so, not bad. But idk... I prefer my matcha more bitter umami flavor. It felt it was water downed, not even too milky. Came again for the 2nd time and the inside was completely redecorated! Had lots of character & personality. It was giving very cozy vintage coffee shop. Hung around, did some work, & enjoyed an Earl Grey Matcha. This time their cups are half the size now for the same price as before. Flavor... same thing.... watered down. Heard another customer who came in ask for more matcha. Didn't know that's a thing so I may need to ask for that next time I come back. The large cups they served the matcha in before I saw it is used for their refresher drinks. The boy working at the cashier. He seems nice but might want to work on the customer service skills. No greeting but did let me know to ask if I had questions. He was probably shy. I looked this place up because I wanted matcha. My first time here walking in the energy and decoration of the place is such a vibe. Like it's so nice and all the plants and color scheme. Everything looks sooo cool. I love all the Hmong embroidery and accents. Definitely will come back and I also won a stuff toy on my first try at the claw machine haha that's a plus. The matcha I got was a banana matcha and it was good. If you plan to buy the baked goods there's a Venmo account you can scan to pay for them separately. It's made by Xe Vang and the cookies are $4 and the cream cheese cookies box is $5. Definitely need to try all the other drinks next time. Decided to stop here on a whim when I wanted some matcha after shopping at Goodwill nearby. Haven't been to the Rancho area for some time but I was pleasantly surprised to find this place through Yelp. It's tucked slightly out of the way in the shopping center, across from the Dollar Tree. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the friendly cashier and I ordered the Jasmine Cloud Matcha with boba. It was delicious, very smooth, and not too sweet. I got 75% sweetness and had almond milk in it. The inside has a cute, cozy atmosphere. I liked how open it feels too--there's a good amount of seating and it doesn't feel cramped at all, despite it being a smaller shop. Went in today the person at the front was very cold and not welcoming all. Got no greeting and they kept their head down during our interaction. It felt odd and uncomfortable! I did find the art work and shop very cute and pleasant. I ordered a Vietnamese ice coffee and got an iced coffee that seemed to be more of a regular ice coffee not Vietnamese. It was made in 2 mins. So seems it was simply old coffee. I would suggest not making offering this if it can't be made properly. I wouldn't visit again. They had a joint event with a filipino owner of isaw isaw and tusok tusok so we have to try. Their drinks are sooo good. My partner said their matcha is good which is hardly to find in Sac. Sooo glad we have a solid matcha spot in Rancho Cordova! I've come in a couple of times and I've loved my matcha drinks every time. The barista on my first visit told me that they use 5g of matcha (vs the standard 3-4g) so their drinks pack a punch! The deep green color of the matcha is always a good sign! The matcha itself is lightly sweetened but still retains a good level of earthiness. I've tried both the Earl Grey and Banana Matchas and they both complement the matcha very well! The consistency is also full-bodied and not too thin. Aun Brew & Co might have my favorite banana matcha in the area! It kind of tastes more like a banana bread than the artificial banana laffy taffy, which I love! The space is clean and bright, and I appreciate the small nods to streetwear. So glad to finally have a go-to matcha place in the Rancho area! Came here for the soft opening and got to meet the owners. They were so lovely and welcoming just like the interior! As soon as we entered the store there was no greeting. The guy at the counter just stared at us and it seemed as if he didn't wanted to be there himself. His tone wasn't welcoming either. I had got the matcha jasmine cloud. When I tried it, there was zero sugar added to it! Just straight up bland. I asked the guy "is this supposed to be unsweetened?" He replied "no it should have sweetener in it" then continued with "I can remake it". I was thinking okay they probably just messed up so it's okay they're remaking it! However, he proceeds to the back in which he comes back to tell me that instead of remaking my drink he's going to just add in the sweetener. In which was even more disappointing. The cherry on top was that for the other drinks we ordered they did not have any cup holders or bags for us. We were provided with a brown smart and final grocery bag... It is a shame because the ambiance of the place itself is pretty. Overall, I advise against coming here. Drinks are not great and service was a disappointment. read more

When I asked about the pandan, the cashier (who also made the drinks) mentioned it's made from syrup. The pandan drink definitely had that distinct flavor, and the brown sugar one was on the sweeter side. I actually enjoyed the boba here more than at other nearby spots. Both drinks with my adjustments came out to $13.50 plus tip, with boba as an extra $0.75. I noticed they don't offer customization for sweetness or ice level, which was fine for me. We were headed to Rancho so we decided to stop by Aun Brew & Co for the first time. It was easy to find. There was plenty of parking. We were greeted immediately upon walking in. After looking at the menu we decided on a few drinks: Brown Sugar Oat Latte - I was expecting a stronger coffee (more like a traditional vietbame coffee). It was just ok to me. The matcha alone isn't the best or very strong but something about that banana-matcha combo just makes it all better. I originally had my eye on the banana pudding matcha, but when I arrived I saw a strawberry hojicha. I've been craving hojicha lately and I liked the unique strawberry twist on it so I had to try it!
