We are staying at one of 4 hotels right next to this place. I asked the front desk and oh yes the food is great ! We have a small dog with us so my husband went in and got a menu , we thought we would just take it back to our hotel room. He ordered the food. I had asked for horseradish if they had any. Sweet potatoe fries and a beef dip. It was a ridiculous $19.69 for the sandwich THEN another $3.49 for sweet potatoe fries. So after tax we spent $25.44 for quite possibly the worst sandwich ever !!! The only thing we can say was nice was the worker who took the order. So on that note, don't waste your time or most definitely your money. Go get a subway sandwich at the gas station instead, it will definitely be better. read more

I stopped at O'Charley's for lunch with my family after spending the morning hiking at Burgess Falls on June 30, 2026. We were tired, hungry, and looking forward to a relaxing lunch. We arrived at approximately 1:05 p.m. and waited about 10 minutes because there was no host at the front. While waiting wasn't ideal, we understood that things happen. What was frustrating was what happened next. When the host finally came to the front, she asked who had been waiting first. My party told her that we had. She acknowledged us by saying, "Okay," but then immediately turned to a white family who had arrived after us and said, "I'm going to seat them first." This was especially confusing because the restaurant was almost empty. There were plenty of open tables, so there didn't appear to be any reason to seat another party ahead of us after confirming that we had arrived first. There was no explanation and no apology. The host was not wearing a name tag, so I couldn't identify her by name. She was a tall, thin brunette wearing black glasses with a long braided ponytail. That interaction left a very poor first impression and made us feel overlooked. No customer should leave wondering why another party was seated ahead of them after the host had already confirmed they were there first. Thankfully, our server, Dillion, completely turned the experience around. She was warm, bubbly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The food was also excellent. If I were rating only the food and Dillion's service, this would easily be a five-star review. Unfortunately, the experience at the host stand set the tone for our visit. I hope management addresses this with their front-of-house staff because every guest deserves to be treated with fairness, courtesy, and respect from the moment they walk through the door. Update: I appreciate that management took the time to personally call me regarding my review. The manager was kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic. She listened to my concerns without dismissing my experience and assured me she would address the situation with the staff to help ensure it doesn't happen again. While my initial experience at the host stand was disappointing, I believe it's important to acknowledge when a business takes accountability and makes an effort to make things right. I sincerely hope no other guest has a similar experience in the future. read more

My family and I visited this location for supper after I perused the online menu (as I usually do before eating out) and I chose the 3 piece catfish dinner after seeing the picture online. When I received the catfish dinner at the restaurant, I was shocked at the size of the pieces of fish...I expected fillets, but what I received were basically 4 inch by 1/2 inch fish fingers. If I hadn't been with several family members, I would have instantly sent it back. Additionally I ordered cheesy grits as a side and when the grits came they apparently had been sitting around a while, because I was able to stab them and lift them up like a hockey puck. I requested butter and after mixing butter with the grits, it softened them up and they ate fine with good flavor. I was the only one to order fish while everyone else received nice or acceptable portions of protein with the meals they ordered. The server was nice and efficient and the food came out fairly quickly. I feel like the victim of bait and switch and I will definitely not be ordering the fish again...In my opinion, I received an $8 meal for $16. read more

For several years we've had a Sunday night ritual of ordering cedar-planked salmon or steak from this restaurant. In the past few months, the food has deteriorated. First, the potatoes got smaller and drier, then the fish was dry several times, and the broccoli was usually undercooked. My wife finally gave up on the fish and ordered chicken strips. Last Sunday, 1/2. They arrived very dark brown and as dry as wood. We might have to change our ritual. read more

It's been years since we have been to any O'Charley's. The menu was lacking, to say the least. We decided a couple of days ago to give our local location another chance since it had been quite a few years. I am so glad we did! The esthetics were the same but the menu! They have seriously upped their game! It's no longer just the same boring items. The BBQ chops & baby back rib combos to the chipotle salmon to the stakes... I could go on forever! It was amazing to see all the new items. Even the sides are vastly improved! Both visits we had excellent serves. We were seated quickly, and we were waited on quickly. On our first visit, we were taken care of by Houston, and today, we were taken care of by David. Both gave excellent serves. We did get there a bit earlier today, so we did have more interaction with David. He was very personable, and we loved his personality. If you have dismissed OCharleys as we had done, I strongly recommend giving them another chance! This is our new go-to place! read more

We don't have an O'Charley's in South Florida and i make it a point to visit when I'm in Cookeville, TN. The food here is consistent and is served fresh. One of my favorites is the Chipotle Fried Chicken Strips. If you're looking for an appetizer the cheese wedges and the loaded potato soup are the crowd favorites. There was no wait and the service was professional. They do a nice job keeping the restaurant looking clean. Can't wait to come back. read more

Very disappointed with our meals at the Cookeville O'Charley's. When we got there we found very different menu from what saw on Yelp. They have remove both the prime rib and the French dip sandwich and the wife couldn't order the half California chicken that she had enjoyed in years past. I ended up getting the 6 oz top sirloin which was ok but not what I had come for In years past we were always greeted by the manager. Everything on the menu was up 1 or 2 dollars. We moved back to Cookeville and visited O'Charleys again. The restaurant is still very clean and the manager is on the property overseeing the quality of their food and service. First of all the rolls are still as yummy and delicious as they have always been. The manager told us they served over 30,000 rolls a week-you can tell they are a favorite. I ordered the half grilled chicken salad and the portion was very generous. The ingredients were very fresh and tasty. We also ordered an appetizer of cheese wedges which were steaming hot and very chewy. My wife ordered the sirloin prepared perfect at medium with broccoli prepared just right. She also enjoyed a side salad which was just the right size. Our waitress was quick to keep our drinks filled and the noise level was reasonable so we could carry on a conversation at our table without interruptions. read more

I visited this location several times in the past year. They offer good food. The service is minimal. Don't expect too many refills on your water or tea while you are dining. Loved this place until this trip. My teenagers 15, 17 and 18, took a couple bites. Something about the taste was off. One had shrimp which he never has a problem with. I think he left 6 or 7. My daughter has the chicken tenders. One bite and done. My other son ate half his Salmon. My wife got the eggs benedict ate half of one. I had the utlimate omelette it was ok. Usually we go to a family restaurant to eat together. Today we did not get to eat together, and the restaurant is to blame. The whole family (four people to be exact) came to eat today, and only 2 people left the restaurant satisfied. We started with an appetizer combo platter and some fries, which was fine if it hadn't been for the fries. We had to remind them TWICE before we got to eat the fries, and by then we were done with the appetizer. The worst part is what happened around dinnertime. My sister ordered the chicken tenders, my mom ordered the 16 ounce prime rib cooked medium, my stepdad had the seafood combo, and I had a plain hamburger cooked medium well. The chicken tenders and the seafood came out fine, but the prime rib was extra rare, and had to be sent back. My burger came out burnt on both sides, which wasn't the first time they burnt my burger, so we sent the burger back too. We waited about 20-30 minutes to eat, but by then, my sister and stepdad had finished eating, and my mom was furious. The waiters are nice and the appetizer was good, but if you're in town and looking for a place to eat, I wouldn't recommend eating here. read more

Every time I have been to this place to eat, they have been very great to me, they are always quick to serve you and fill your drinks they treat with a smile their food is great that honey mustard is the bomb! Let me state up front that the reason for the 2 stars rating is mostly for the service. We were in town for a wedding. We came in on Thursday afternoon and the wedding was on Saturday afternoon. After the wedding we went back to our motel to rest (we are both in our late 70's) before going out to eat supper. After resting a little, it was now around 8pm, so we decided to order take out and eat in our room at the motel. I called the take out number given on Yelp to place our order. This is a Saturday night so I am sure that they were pretty busy. After 15 - 20 seconds of the phone ringing, I was about to hang up when someone finally answered the phone. I ordered 2 bowls of Chicken Noodle soup, was told that my order would be ready in 25 minutes. This ended our telephone conversation. I went to the restaurant (.5 from our motel) at the allotted time and picked up our order and brought it back to the motel. We opened our order anticipating some good warm soup to cap off our busy and tiring day. Low and behold, what we found in our bag were 2 containers of soup and 4 hard and cold rolls. No spoons to use to eat the soup and no napkins to use. We had to drink our medium hot soup and use motel hand towels to clean up. My observations: Since Chicken Noodle soup is a basic daily food item on most O'Charley's restaurants. 1. Why should it take 25 minutes to prepare a carry out order? 2. Why would ANY restaurant prepare a take out order and not place eating utensils and napkins in the bag? 3. Why place ice cold hard rolls in the bag unless they are leftovers from the day's cooking? I think this particular O'Charley's needs a change in management if the current management is going to allow this kind of service. read more

We passed through on our way to the GSMNP & it was late in the evening, probably about 8:30. Per a local recommendation we stopped at O'Charley's. It was "free pie Wednesday" they said...what a mistake. I should've known better but since I'm a serial "trip advisor" user, I wanted to do something once not based solely on reviews. I wish I hadn't gone rogue! What a waste of a meal. A waste of money...weird cut of steak and the pie is on par with a frozen Sara Lee. Do yourself a favor and just get a burger at any drive through. Don't waste your money here. I will say the only redeeming factor was our insanely sweet waitress. read more

I don't normally give chain restaurants a 5 star review unless they have done something completely amazing. In this case, O'Charleys has really stuck out to me as 5 stars. I have only been to this location twice, both times with a medium to large size party of obnoxious, loud, excited, family members. Both times, we had a server named Michael. This kid has been on his A game each time we went in there. This last visit he suggested the black berry margarita on the rocks. It was so good I had two of them. I wasn't extremely hungry this trip so Michael suggested a salad, which I got, which hit the spot perfectly. The food here is great. The wait times aren't that bad at all. From the hostess to the server to the manager everyone has seemed friendly and helpful. From the time I order until the time my food arrives has never seemed like a long wait time. I really am just overall impressed by this O'Charleys location. And if you go in ask for Michael (he has a man bun). He has taken great care of us both times! read more

We ordered out last night for our anniversary. The food was excellent and even the containers that the food was in were wonderful. I had to go clear to Bloomington Springs from Cookeville and the food was still very warm and delicious. Cole slaw was a little dry but still good. Took our son there tonight for his 39th birthday. Was very very very disappointed. The coffee came out cold twice. The server we had took 20 minutes after order to serve the salad and it took over 40 minutes to get our food served after we ordered. My plate came out cold. So I didn't eat, gave it back to the manager. When we got the bill my food was still charged to us . No apologies from the server or the manager. Not a way to spend a birthday. I've never had a server with an attitude; they've always been friendly and professional. The place is awesome. We have eaten at other OCharleys before but not like this one. Although they were packed when we walked in it took less time than they told us to get seated. Food also arrived at the table almost right after we ordered. Our orders were specifically as we ordered. (Big plus) The GM was not only on the floor the whole time, he actually took time to talk to each table not just check like most managers do.
