Stopped by O'Charley's in Franklin this afternoon for a quick snack after realizing we hadn't eaten there in years. Seeing the sign brought back some good memories, so we thought, "Why not?" Unfortunately, it wasn't the experience we remembered!!! The potato soup appears to be a new recipe, and it was honestly pretty bad. The rolls were also disappointing. They reminded me more of Sister Schubert's rolls than the light, airy bread O'Charley's used to be known for. The fried pickles were about a 4/10. They needed more seasoning, and the ranch lacked flavor. The queso dip 1/10 tasted very similar to the jarred Tostitos queso you can buy at the grocery store. The bright spot of our visit was our server, Miranda. She was attentive, friendly, kept our drinks filled, and regularly checked to make sure we had everything we needed. Her service was excellent. If the food matched the quality of the service, O'Charley's could still be a place worth visiting. Sadly, the recipes and overall food quality just aren't what they used to be. I'll hold onto the memories of the old O'Charley's, but I don't see myself coming back. read more

I needed to pick up dinner on my way home, so I decided to place an order online. I have to say, their online ordering system is fantastic. It's super easy and intuitive to use. As soon as I placed the order, it gave me the pickup time and clear directions, and then I immediately got a confirmation text. Very well done! I actually showed up about ten minutes early, and they were already ready for me, he was practically waiting on me. Talk about great service. For dinner, I ordered the Pecan Chicken Salad, and the chicken was wrapped in foil and still nice and hot when I got home. I also got the Southern Fried Chicken Salad, and the chicken on that was warm and delicious as well. If you order here, you absolutely must get extra rolls. Those rolls are dangerously good. And last but definitely not least... the Caramel Pie. That one is a must-have. Let's just say I'm very glad I worked out before picking up this dinner! First the good. Trivia night is fun and the host is great. The staff are friendly and attentive, although they could probably use another server on trivia night. But everyone we encountered on the service staff were taking care of the guests well. But O'Charley's menu is not much more than middle school cafeteria food on a ceramic plate. The country style steak is exactly the same "meat" as you might find in a school lunch Salisbury steak. It tasted steam heated, had an odd flavor and required an immense amount of steak sauce to be edible. Nothing seems to be "scratch made" in the restaurant- but maybe I should be ordering chicken tenders, which are the signature item. Prices are reasonable and the happy hour apps are decent. read more

Despite the low ratings already left on this location, we decided to stop by for dinner tonight to give O'Charleys the benefit of the doubt since our local location closed many years ago. After the food they served us tonight I can definitely see why. Pretty much everything we ordered was difficult to eat. Our rolls came out stale, which we were willing to forgive at first but then the rest of our food arrived and it became very clear that things were not looking up. We both ordered potato soup, which was really just a thick spicy queso at the end of the day so maybe they should just call it that instead. My friend also ordered cheese grits which came absolutely swimming in butter, the pictures included are after she tried dumping some out, but even then were completely inedible and still way closer to a soup than our potato soup ever was. Our mashed sweet potato's also had more sugar on them than a whole 2 liter bottle of coke. Overall we were very dissatisfied with our meal, and our waitress didn't seem to want to be there at all. I would probably skip this location next time you're hungry and looking for something in the area, unless you're in the mood for disappointment. read more

Lack of experienced workers at ANY station tells me the business isn't paying an adequately competitive wage. The kitchen and table service were barely staffed. The restaurant had less than a dozen tables seated. Happy Hour pricing was ignored, and the menu offered nothing that my group found worth coming back for. When finally served, the plates had great eye appeal, but the food wasn't satisfying. Even the barbecue was bland. It had been more than 5 years since I'd visited. It's a sad experience. When the business was sold in 2018, it bottomed out in quality and service. The pandemic seems to have left it just another struggling business with nothing but a mediocre product and a familiar name. read more

O'Charlies has change their chicken tenders. I ate at the restaurant in Franklin TN December 9th and ordered the children fried salad. Not what I had been accustomed to because the chicken tenders were narrower and smaller with fewer pieces and the lettuce was cut up smaller. I won't order it any more. My cousin had the chicken tender and fries. Her tenders were smaller than they used to be too. read more

Usually the food is pretty decent ! The last time was weird the baked potatoes were hard & dried out ... the ribs tasted off ! The pies we used to love are gone & seemed to have been replaced ; the slices are really small for price & they taste like cheap grocery store pies ... not flavorful or tastes like there's artificial ingredients ( cherry , choc fridge) just not good at all - I've gotten better pie from frozen at GFS for a fraction of cost ! Bottom line: you never get the feeling that you're really welcome here or that anyone cares to thank you for choosing them for your dining experience! The food quality and flavors are not bad -- the hot Fish & Chips is actually very good. If you have a sweet tooth -- Free Pie Wednesday is a pretty good deal and the Caramel Pie is amazing. Service is not the best here -- maybe they are short staffed -- maybe management avoids high visibility and oversight with a more hands on approach -- but you can tell that both are lacking. Ambiance is quite bland -- the interior decor has been reworked from the days when big festive wall murals greeted you when you entered the dining room. Now it's much more vanilla and middle of the road. We will try them again in a few weeks (probably on a Free Pie Day) and see if anything has drastically improved. read more

The atmosphere is chill, we went on a Saturday night during dinner hours and it was busy but didn't feel chaotic/crowded, and we didn't wait long to be seated. We stopped by to grab a quick lunch after a doctors appointment before hitting the road to drive a few hours. We arrived just before 2, so definitely past the lunch rush, and the restaurant was mostly empty. We were served by the bartender at a booth around the bar and was greeted quickly. The rolls that were served were under proofed significantly. We asked for another basket when our food arrived (it took 30 minutes) and even those were under proofed and hard. My salad was a fraction of the size it's supposed to be and the chicken sandwich was served dry. The manager that brought over our food was at the bar eating subway for most of our meal, so that should tell you something about the quality of the food. Sadly, we won't be returning to a chain that we've loved for years. read more

My wife and I tried O'Charley's for a brunch last Sunday. I ordered a bacon and egg Cascadia and it was not good. It contained very little (powdered egg) egg and hardly any bacon and cheese. It was a very slender offering for twelve dollars plus. It was served with some sour cream and tasteless salsa. It really was bad. I was wondering why no fried eggs were offered on their menu for breakfast. Then, I noted the powdered eggs in my breakfast. My wife ordered a salad with fried chicken. She was not happy with that either. The only saving grace was our waiter. He was a very efficient, pleasant lad that served us well. We won't be returning to O'Charley's. read more

We've been to this location several times in the past but tonight it was horrible. We've always liked the potato skins but we didn't get skins. We got loaded potatoes. There was over 1/2" of potato left in the skin therefore it's not a potato skin. We also ordered a butter burger. The patty was from a frozen product and was nasty. We ordered the loaded Mac n cheese for the side and it wasn't loaded. Service was not good either. I don't know what has happened to this chain, but it's not good anymore and we won't be back! read more

I was stuck in Lebanon due to a head injury and staying at the hotel next door to O'Charley's. I tried to order online and because of food allergies I called the restaurant. Cheryl was awesome and so helpful ! I was able to walk over and pick up my food, and Cheryl was even better in person! The food was great and her service was ABOVE par! It was well made and yummy! Do not order here under any circumstances. I was told that my order would be ready in 20 minutes after ordering online. As of right now, I'm still in my car 1:15 minutes later waiting for my order. They folks At curbside are super unhelpful. They tell me that the online ordering system does not take into account the "call in" orders. Just really an unacceptable situation. After another fifteen minutes the order finally came. Pick up time was 5:46 and I have food at 6:56. Guess what? No side dishes in the bag. No help at the front desk. They just keep answering the phone and ignoring the four frustrated customers standing and waiting. Do. Not. Order. From. Here. If I had not paid online I would have already left. Just to add one more thing. I bought a car at Franklin Dodge, just next door, and spent less time closing the deal and signing papers than I did at this damn O'Charley's. read more

Over the years I've enjoyed a number of O'Charley's, most notably the former location at the Davidson Co./Williamson Co. line in Brentwood (now a Chuy's). O'Charley's touts their chicken tenders like Chili's touts their baby back ribs. This Franklin location did not get that memo. Service is slow (welcome to 2021, the pandemic, and a shortage of service workers). I get it. I can live with that. I don't expect one person to serve an entire restaurant...but it appeared there may have been only 1 server at this location. At one point, she was outside, walking through the parking lot. Okay...no worries, the bartender was able to get me some more water. I'll set the service aside. The food was, in part, overdone. Broccoli looked like it was left over from hours before. Dark in color and like something you'd see on a plate left out overnight. The chicken tenders...what O'Charley's touts...clearly old. The white meat was brown and dry. It wasn't overcooked, it was old. My loaded baked potato soup was thick. Really think. Like little movement thick. That's a kitchen issue, not a server issue. Of course, had the server come back by to check, I would have pointed it out and asked for a replacement. In the end, the server didn't ask if everything was okay. She set the check down, we paid, and we all agreed not to return. For now, O'Charley's fans, you might want to skip this location. Maybe 2022 will bring back those tendies you seek. read more

We stopped in tonight with our hearts set on those delectable dinner rolls. The dinner rolls didn't disappoint. Neither did the service. Or the cleanliness. Or the food. It was a delicious and delightful dinner. My wife had a terrific looking salad and I had the chicken tenders and a couple of sides. Server was attentive without hovering. Food served quickly. I'm not a fan of giving reviews with anything less than 5 stars. But I just had to in this case. Maybe it was because they were super slammed maybe it's like this all the time I have no idea this is our first time here. I won't mention the name of our waiter cause I think hats rude but geez my coffee came out AFTER I was 10 bites into my meal. Not cool friends!!!! So I had nothing to drink during the entire first portion of our meal:/ I don't think our waiter came back once to check and see if everything was alright. When our food was finished we were rushed out the door, which we were much happy to oblige. Maybe they were having an off day, not sure. On the upside.....the strawberry cream French toast was super yummy. Maybe cause I was starving but it was worth the calories!!! O'Charley's has a lot of potential but falls short. It looks like with some work it could be a great spot to go to dinner. Can't even describe the music that was playing but it was akin to yacht rock or something. Seems slow and tired and the wait staff, though polite move equally slow. Left after appetizers. Used to be decent here in Franklin. Not anymore. Food was poor quality that had been obviously frozen and thawed not cooked fresh. Portions have got smaller but the prices are twice as high. Family was in town for a birthday but with older relatives reluctant to eat out. But now O'Charley's has family meals, so I "catered" dinner from our regular restaurant. For the 6 of us, I bought the steak and chicken strips dinner, and opted for mashed sweet potatoes and coleslaw on the side. Also included were two dipping sauces and buns with butter. I was nervous about ordering a "to go" meal, especially that the food would be "dead" by the time it arrived. I will say I ordered for 6:30, but when I got to the restaurant at 6:09, the meal was already ready to go. However, the chefs knew how to get a "to go" meal right. The steaks were still medium rare by the time I got home, the food that was supposed to be warm, still was, and everything was packaged to go just right. Everyone enjoyed it and how well it was cooked and prepared. My only recommendation is I would have liked to have gotten a message when the cook was firing up the meal and when it would be freshly ready. The earlier-than-I-expected packaging may have been to make it Uber Eats friendly or to manage the load on the kitchen, though as I said, I have no complaints about the quality in the end. If the restaurant doesn't want pick up patrons hanging about (and they got me in and out nicely and efficiently), the do have parking spots by the restaurant to which they can deliver the food. read more

The funny thing about O'Charley's is many of my friends kind of laugh that it's one of favorite go-to spots. I get it. Sorta. Over the 12 years I have lived in Franklin, it has been remodeled at least twice but they are always consistent. Consistently good food, consistently good service, consistent in knowing who I am when I come in because I eat at the bar on the regular. It feels great when you've had a long day and you plop down at the bar and you are immediately greeted with a smile and the question, are we having a glass of red wine tonight? Like they have to even ask. Lol. But seriously, if you want a nice night out, either weekend or weeknight, check out my O'Charley's. I should be the mayor. I love it here.
