I picked this place off the internet as it was near a PDX hotel our friends were staying in for a late night snack. When we first walked in, we were a bit worried it was going to be a dive as there was very loud (what turns out being Russian) music playing, people smoking outside, pool tables, and a full dance floor of folks. We opted to stay though and so glad we did. The food was nothing short of what you would expect in a fine dining restaurant. The beet salad was beautiful. The chicken sandwich superb. The Mac & cheese? Amazing. It was a bit of a fever dream place with the Russian regalia and bar atmosphere, to be served such an amazing meal. The yelp pictures looked interesting since they are a Kansas City bar and the couple I was with wanted to go. The food was cold and disappointing to a point where we ate one chip from the nachos and had to send them back. Kept the Brussel sprouts but still not great. We stayed for a couple drinks and left. The bartender was so sweet he understood about the cold food. But the ambiance is more like dive bar vibes. There was pool tables that's a plus. Would I go back probably not. read more

I went to O'Dear Bar for the first time to eat lunch, and I will say that the food was great! They had a nice selection of different items you could order, and I would definitely recommend this bar. Secondly, the atmosphere is awesome, it is very roomy, a warm presence, and you can sit at the bar, or booths, and the customer service is a five-star. Came with a group for brunch. It was a bit of a mess. We really wanted to like this place. It's so cute inside! Welcoming. Two pool tables, the lighting is cool, there are comfy sofas and groovy booths. The staff we met were very nice. We told the staff the bathroom was out of toilet paper, which they immediately remedied...there was a web near the floor with some sort of bug eggs in the restroom as well. However, the rest of the restaurant was clean and tidy. Love the white and black flower painted wall. The menu was small for brunch but actually well curated. The service was very slow. The place was empty when I arrived except for one other table. The bloody mary was fine but too pickle flavored for one of us. The champagne flight was good (and generous: four full flutes!!!) and the coffee and Kahlua drink was good. The drinks were slow in coming but decent. The food took a very long time. Each of our meals (five of us) were cold. Not warmish but cold. Two of us had the Florentine Benedict: One was ordered with the Béarnaise sauce on the side, which came out on the dish, which staff moved to remake very quickly and kindly. But both benedicts were supposed to have avocado and it was left off; the tomato was pretty pale and sad. The potatoes tasted good would have been great if not stone cold. My poached egg seemed like it was refrigerated....Not exaggerating. One of us also ordered a salmon benedict and it was also cold but tasted okay. None of our English muffins were toasted so they were a struggle to cut and eat with our food. Curious about the choice of Béarnaise sauce over the standard hollandaise sauce??? It didn't taste terrible; it was weird though. There was a small drizzle on the arugula...the egg should have had a good pour on it. Be generous with the sauce, people. The chicken and waffles two of us ordered were also cold. It's always hard when the staff is pleasant and kind and they try. And this neighborhood needs this cool looking place! But the food was messed up and cold. And the everything was really slow. There a lot of room for improvement and it seems like they might be struggling with the same personnel shortage issues many businesses are struggling with. However, I was recently in a super busy bar during happy hour with ONE bartender and no waitstaff with at least three times the customers. Maybe O'Dear needs more staff, maybe the existing staff needs more experience or training, maybe it was an off day. Two people swore they would not return...I would come back to give this place another try because, jeez it would be nice to see O'Dear succeed. read more

Don't let the neighbourhood or the exterior of O'Dears fool you. Open just a month, the interior is clean and spacious and the eclectic menu is delightful. With a number of interesting choices, my sister and I shared the Brussels Sprouts app, the salmon and corn chowder soup, the roasted beet salad with goat cheese and pecans and the vegan tacos. Each one delicious (though the Brussels sprouts could be a bit more al dente), and creatively crafted. Great music playlist and super friendly staff. Generous happy hour EVERY day. If you think this review is too good to be true, it's not. We're just passing through and found this hidden gem. Noticed a new bar and restaurant opened in our neighborhood, so decided to give it a try since it was open early ??? Sunday morning for breakfast. Got there around 9:15 am, no one else was there and they were not really ready to open. Val waited quite a long time for her bloody Mary. The bacon for the drink arrived 5 minutes later! While we waited to order we had time to look around, the place is cavernous with high ceilings which means it's loud when occupied. A few more people wandered in and I was right, it got loud. We ordered our food which was delivered promptly, the omelette I ordered was small, but enough for me, and filled with great ingredients, bacon, sausage, peppers, onions, ect. I have know idea what was on the egg wrapper as it made the omelette look grey, but really didn't effect the taste. The potatoes were the best thing about breakfast, seemed as if they were cooked in bacon fat,mmmmmmm! Val's breakfast was pancakes (vanilla, cinnamon) scrambled eggs and bacon. Pretty average fare. Total bill with a good tip was $50.00 that's a lot for a pretty average breakfast. Might wait a few weeks and give them a try for dinner. Three of us decided to try this restaurant/bar in Parkrose. All the other reviews were right on. The burgers were big and good, Lamb Burger was over cooked and had no real taste. Then O'dear burger was very tasty, but we ordered medium and it was more like raw, but enjoyable. Beet Salad was wonderful and large. We had the Thai'd drink, will be back just for it. Manhattan was very tasteless, never again. The waiter bartender was hard to understand and very slow, but didn't bother me but my friend was upset with him. I wish they would start using coasters under the drinks they bring to the table so we have something to suck up the moister from the glasses. The waiter finely brought us some Napkins. ATMOSPHERE- This is my first time here, one thing that really stands out is the ambiance. I love the atmosphere of the bar/lounge. There's couch/ table & bar seating. And the music selection is great. I think they may have a dj on the weekend as well as live music , on the other side of the restaurant there was a stage & they accommodate minors on that side. The bartender/server wasn't necessarily rude but seemed like he could care less to serve me & kinda gave an attitude like I was bothering him. Definitely wasn't friendly. If anything brought the rating down for me it was him. FOOD- I ordered a fried chicken slider ($6). It was good enough, not extremely yummy, I'd give it a 7/10. I'm happy it was just a slider & not a full sandwich. A cup of smoked salmon corn chowder ($8) was terrible. The texture was gross, there was no flavor other than a strong potato taste. I think it was like potato based rather than cream based & not seasoned at all. Although I could see it, I couldn't taste the smoked salmon. Wouldn't get again 3/10. The third thing I got were the brisket nachos, I really enjoyed them although they were pretty cold , it didn't really take away from them. The roasted cashew sauce was soooo yummy, I even got an extra side of them. Only complaint with the nachos was that there wasn't much brisket. And it seemed like the brisket was mashed together with black beans probably to stretch the meat (photo below). I would rate the nachos 9/10. I got 2 strawberry margaritas which were good enough. We went to O'dear for the first time last night, after having it on the radar for a little bit. Well.... It was f'n fantastic. I didn't even realize, but this used to be a place that I frequented 30 years ago. Time has passed!! We hit the happy hour, and it is epic level. They've got great beers on tap(fresh), and awesome cocktails too, and a really good overall menu. We went last night, 5/15/23. Man, major props to who was in the kitchen. We only had 2 things, the blue cheese burger and Korean wings. The care was evident in both... The burger was top notch... crispy bacon, kind of mild blue cheese, and that grilled buttered bun that lets you know, they actually care.. like art. The wings were fried, but then seemed like tossed in sauce, and then hit on the grill. exceptional, no doubt. We only had those two things but it was really evident, food forward, and it was the bomb. It is a bar, and as soon as you walk in, the aesthetics are really good. I used to live blocks away from this location, and it makes me so happy to see a place put it together like this, right here. Our server was Deb, and good luck finding anybody better to represent your business. Yeah.... We loved it, and it deserves recognition. We'll be back for sure. Big props to this owner. The neighborhood so needed a place like this! Tons of fun and diverse seating. I'm a vegetarian, so having a bar nearby that my boyfriend and I can both find multiple things to eat AND enjoy each of our meals is so important! The treatment my Beyond burger got was a rare treat, iykyk. My husband and I were so excited to see a decent bar/restaurant in the Parkrose area open up walking distance from Maywood Park area where we live. My first glance at the building I can see they've worked hard on renovating over the last couple of years. Also, they have a very large parking lot with lots parking behind the building and off of Sandy Blvd, with a door from the parking lots that enters directly to the main bar. The inside is beautiful! Love the aesthetics and the bar itself is big and nice. ALL of the bartenders have been very nice and always answers all my questions. We've been in 3 times now (once a week since they've opened!) and Hannah has always treated us so kindly. And now for the good part, the food!!! This is the best "bar" food I've ever had. Presentation is beautiful the flavors are incomparable. I had the Jalapeño poppers which were so good. My husband had the bacon wrapped dates which I'm usually not a fan of but, WOW! The sweet to savory ratio was perfect. My favorite so far is the smoked salmon charcuterie board! It was packed full of all the yummy meats and cheeses. I love a good charcuterie! They have a separate area that allows for minors, pool tables galore, DJ and karaoke on the weekends. We have found our new neighborhood Go-To! read more
