To get to the rental car garage from the airport terminals, you must take the train. Once off the train the directions are very good to find which level the car is located based on the company you rent from. The garage has adequate lighting and the cars are all located by overhead number system. entering and exiting the garage is pretty simple too with good signage. So from O'Hare Airport, I could just take a free tram ride on the ATS (Airport Transit System) to get here and walk over. This place looked really big, clean, and modern. From here, you can either go to your car in the economy lot, pick up your rental car, catch a bus, or ride on the Metra train. Just take an AirTrain to the rental car facility. It's very modern and clean and it only takes under 10 minutes to get here on the air train, which is free. All the car rental places are in one place and the car inventory is right outside. So it's convenient that it's kind of attached to the airport even if it feels like it's not exactly at the airport, but it is all within very close distance. You do not need a shuttle bus like a lot of airports. I love the look of this area and this is also where you can get a lift or an Uber after you drop off your rental car. After the Air train drops you off, you go down one flight on the escalator or the stairs or an elevator and all the rental cars are there. read more

I used the rental car center recently to pick up my car from National. The nice thing about the location of National is it's right off the train, without having to go up or down a floor. I typically don't like rental car centers that are disconnected from the main terminals, but this one didn't seem to bad. It was a little bit of a ride via train to get to it from the main terminal though. read more

I really like the idea that all the car rental locations are in one ace and they all share an unbranded single shuttle bus system. That seems to really cut down on traffic at the airport and resulting pollution. Unfortunately the signage at the garage is incredibly poor and staffing us none-existent. I left my car and never found a paperwork drop off kiosk or any employees... it did not inspire confidence... I know it's new but the clumsiness and lack of customer service is terrible. read more

I was not familiar with OHare and I thought the signage to the rental center in terminal 2 was poor to non existent. Somewhere along the path from the gate there should be signage to direct the traveler to the train to get a rental car. I didn't know if I should be looking for a bus or if the rental center was across the street (Yeah CLT!) or off site. When I discovered that I was looking for a train there was no signage in the terminal 2 lobby to direct someone to the train. A friendly TSA agent got me moving in the right direction but even then I got lost. read more

I'll begin by stating that my review is based on a single visit. In all of my travels, I've never flown into ORD. Additionally, we arrived in the later evening hours. With that, we were impressed with the fact the facility didn't require the utilization of an outside shuttle and that the in-terminal people mover allowed for quick access. There were no lines at the counters, and service was efficient. We did a one-way rental with the return taking place at the far less desirable DTW. Keep up the great work, ORD team! read more

The brand new car rental pickup center is open at O'Hare. This is a major upgrade from the old individual car rental places on Bessie Coleman Drive. It is a large and modern building with a nice décor. You can take the shuttle bus here from any terminal. This is much easier than having to wait for your specific agency's bus. Each rental agency has a booth on the main concourse so all roads lead to here. The bus system was working like clockwork during the first week. The whole place feels open and bright, even on a drury fall afternoon. There are large windows instead of a roof so it gets tons of sunlight. The mosaics on the wall are pretty cool and give it an awesome vibe. The escalators up to the car rental lots where you can grab your car and be on your way. This is a nice upgrade for O'Hare and should make travel smoother for those renting a car. read more

I do like when all the rental car companies are in one location and it's reasonably convenient to get to. Not sure if train is actually any faster than bus and it was a bit of a maze to find the train from terminal the first time. As mentioned in other comments when returning car it can take a minute to get orientated and find way around in the large garage. Side comment if you happen to use Avis at this location be absolutely sure to check your contract before signing. Even ever specifically declining any options I did find a cheeky daily roadside maintenance charge on my contract upon return. My fault as I did sign the agreement but it's on a little digital screen and hard to see everything. The "convenient" emailed contract arrived while I was driving down the freeway which I then never looked at. Again, my fault but hopefully my error can alert others to potentially shady practice. read more

They have a lot to improve. Miserable experience trying to get there via the rental car shuttle bus. The service was horrible. Used, dated buses, clearly not ready for prime time. Yet, they're stuck waiting for the train to be built. The building was beautiful, and the rental car center was a huge improvement over the past individual crumbling agencies. The elevators worked and they had staff directing people where to go for their cars. The design of the garage is poor with circular ramps where idiots drive 5mph. Access to Mannheim road was easy, and it looked as if they had direct ramps to the nearby freeways. I'd be curious to see how they improve when they get the train running. read more

New facility but need to improve the shuttle bus timing. We had several drive by the pick up location which appeared to be packed and when we finally got the one we boarded to stop it was also packed. When you've been flying all day the last thing you want is to wait on shuttles. Luckily the weather was in our favor but would have been brutal if it was winter weather. The facility itself was new and modern and I'm sure will work the kinks out. A bit of drive to get there so leave some extra time for your return. Lines were pretty long. read more

The worst service ever ordered my car from the Costco Travel got to O'hare Avis & did not have my car so i gave them my conformation number & they found it To make things worse it wasn't what i ordered & they had to get me the right one After about 1 hour of all this mess i got the car. People land at all different times of the day and night, but don't get to the car rental area after 10:00 pm because there will not be a single person there. I pre-registered my membership account, including scanning my drivers license and I could even find my rental car in the garage, but no way to get the keys. It's nice that O'Hare finally has a centralized rental car facility for those snowy or rainy days when getting or dropping off a rental used to be pretty rough. BUT... This place is sterile, dull, lacks signs or even a logical flow. I hope there are plans to connect it to the terminals with a train someday. Shuttle bus drivers will leave as you're walking up to the bus and will drive past you when you're standing at a stop. They don't give a shit, which is at least part of the reason that they're working this menial job. read more

This has more to do with the rental car shuttle's. They don't run every 24 hours like they say. Runs more like every top of the hour. Literally have been waiting 45 minutes for a shuttle. It's ridiculous. You're better off taking an Uber to get a rental than wait for these buses and pay the exorbitant fees they already charge at the kiosk here for airport cars. read more

We had a really easy time here and everyone was wonderful and helpful UNTIL we went to leave. Picture this, plenty of stations, each with an attendant. There was a long line for the one window and they waved a car towards a different open lane and we followed. Once it was our turn, the woman told us only the first window was for Thrifty even though every station said "Hertz Dollar Thrifty." She proceeded to make the car behind us back up so that we could all vacate the lane. It was very clear at this point that the other two attendants didn't want to do their jobs and were diverting all of the traffic to the one attendant on the end. This was when I took a video to capture the nonsense. Well the one attendant who turned us away came out of her station to yell that I couldn't have the video, she was going to call her manager, and that we couldn't exit. The empty stations suddenly started taking cars, and the lazy attendant instructed the hardworking attendant, "don't let them leave!" Luckily she knew the game the other workers were playing and let us out. But we WISH we had the opportunity to talk to a manager and let them know that the other workers were pointedly neglecting their work. Glad I won't be needing another rental soon because it turned into a miserable experience. read more

Rented a car back on July 21, 2021 from this Thrifty Car location. When asked by the counter representative if I wanted their insurance I said "no". Then when he asked me to initial the document he started asking me questions about why I was in town, what I planned on seeing, etc. Once I returned I noticed he had added the "Liability Insurance Supplement" that I had declined in the amount of $113 for my trip. When I asked for that to be removed, Thrifty told me I signed for it and therefor owed them the funds. In hindsight I feel like the counter representative was trying to distract me during the signature. I will never use any Thrifty car rental again as a result. read more

Beautiful and convenient location but there is still several things that need to be smoothed out and one being the shuttle service. I get in on Sunday night and for the past 2 Sundays we waited more than 10 mts. It's way to cool for that nonsense. Tonight I missed one the other was right behind. I was so surprised O' Hare finally consolidate all rental cars company into a central location. It was clean, sleek, elevators were modern design that you chose the floor before you got in. I am so pleased i didn't have to wait for individual rental car shuttles anymore! Shuttle bus drivers were way too friendly that i wanted to tip them! O'Hare have done a great job! i heard from the rental car lady that Monorail will be ready at the end of the year, i can't wait to come back. I guess all the negative reviews were based on newly operation, but now they are just smooth and didn't waste you anymore time. Give O'hare rental car center another chance. :) read more

For now. When you arrive at OHAR. You must use the bus service to get to the Rental Facility. They are hoping to have the rail service completed before the upcoming holidays. This should make it much easier. And you must use the Facility name when trying to drive to this location. Most all of the rental companies are there. I knew the shuttle bus situation would be a mess but I was surprised for a new facility at the illogical design and especially the lack of signage or misleading signage. I've dropped off over 100 rental cars at airports and this one made you think far too much just to drop off and get on your way. Extremely cramped with tiny ramps. Be warned the shuttle situation to the terminals means you should arrive VERY VERY early. read more
