I took it just up the street to my local repair shop because a hand injury made it difficult for me to put air in the tires. The shop was so nice, we chatted, I pet their dog, it felt good. When they pulled my car out they told me I needed an inspection (true) but that I would not pass it without new breaks (false). I took the car to Hendricks for an oil change and they said the breaks were fine for now but could be replaced when I do the next oil change in 6,000 miles. I'm a 70 year old woman. I feel more sad than angry about this experience. I'm pleased I have Hendrick to work on my car because my car dealer also pulled a similar trick with my last car. A woman friend recommended Hendricks. They are worth crossing the bridge for.

(Mower blade replacement and check battery - trouble starting) Was quoted a price/estimate and the rough ballpark of time it would take based on what I wanted to be serviced on my rider mower. Several additional things were offered or heavily encouraged during the "intake". I explained that I thought that I didn't need much, tractor was relatively new and ran fine and little to no hours of use on it. Gentlemen that did intake said something like - well we check everything or recommend oil change and such if we are going to put time or labor into it anyway. I asked for approx price of each service. He said they would call me with a specifics and a quote and exact details/prices and wouldn't do anything without my explicit consent. He did say it was busy season, that everyone was getting lawn equipment, machines, and snow removal equipment tuned up and ready or fixed and that it would take a week or 2 before mine would be looked at - because a few machines were ahead of me - absolutely fine. I explained that time frame worked fine - that I didn't need it right back that week or even 2, that I would actually be away for a week - so the timeline fit perfect for me. He also explained typical prices of each of the things he recommended and kind of blew it off saying under 100 or so or if not - not much more. Yea, none of it was true or close to accurate at all. A few weeks went by and I hadn't heard so I followed up and called. They said they would check on it and get back to me. later they called and said it hadn't been looked at yet!? I said how can that be - and he said well there is a note that said you would be away so we didn't start on it or even look at it. That's a huge fail. They also basically admitted (and I watched it happen with my own eyes) that they let regulars skip the line and backlog. So fine, I had to wait, not a deal breaker. They called back a week or 2 later with a quote of 600 dollars. I was blown away and confused? for blade replacements or sharpening? This can't be. Well they said when we looked at some of the stuff, they recommended (or already did the work without my authorization - like promised) that some of the pulleys and pieces were worn and they felt needed replacement. I specifically said I didn't want any extras or new battery or anything until I was given the prices. I went back to get my machine and asked to speak to manager about price. He took off an hour of labor and reduced price of some of the parts to help me. Now, the price of parts was double or triple what I can get them for at Lowe's or online, so I understand markup but that's just shady and inexcusable. Even with the doscount it was more than double or triple what I was planning and agreed to spend. Guy said it would be 100 or under 2 tops. They wanted me to pay $500 or 450 plus tax for me to get my mower back! It gets even worse: The mower was sitting outside in the snow and soaked and covered in ice and snow and it wouldn't start. I've never once in my life had this machine not in a garage or shed but apparently it had sat outside in the rain and snow and ice for the 6 weeks they had it. One of the reasons I brought it in was the battery/mower wouldn't start. They said that was solved - but then it wouldn't start when I came to pick it up and get it up on my trailer to leave. They called technician that apparent "did the work" to come assist or take care of it and he couldn't get it going so they had more guys come out and help. They were training him in front of me. Not a good look. I left, with my machine in worse condition then it arrived in, costed me $500, took many more weeks then promised, was subjected to rain, snow and ice with no covering, tarp or care and when I mowed a sample patch of lawn- the blades were so uneven, it left lines in my yard - not minor, like the deck and blades weren't leveled at all. Poor service. Cannot recommend. I would rather drive an hour away then support the local guy in town - and that's a shame - I had several other machines with needs - snowblower; other mower, etc, and they lost my business forever - and I will spread the word. They were polite and courteous the whole time and didn't make me feel bad for being an idiot. Today, a snow storm dropped almost 2 feet of snow. I had trouble with my snowblower so I called them to pick it up since I couldn't bring it in. When he came to pick it up, he took a quick look at it and discovered the problem. A broken shear pin. He fixed it right away and didn't even have to take the machine back to his shop. Very helpful since this storm is likely to drop another 6-12 inches before it's done. I highly recommend Max S. Three months later, I still do not have one, and I am still waiting on a refund check. Here is what happened: They programmed a new key, handed it to me, and I discovered right there in the parking lot that the remote did not work. When I pointed this out, they explained it away as a "bad key," which means they charged me for a key they knew was defective. They promised to reorder it and call me. They did not call. Two months passed before I finally scheduled another appointment. I drove in and was told they could not program anything because their internet was down and I would need to reschedule. They said they would call me. They did not. Then, on the day of the rescheduled appointment, they called to say the replacement key still had not arrived due to a FedEx delay. At no point in this entire ordeal did anyone from the office follow up as promised. Every single time, I had to call them. When I raised my frustration, staff were dismissive and deflected responsibility. One person casually mentioned that "70% of new keys can fail," as if that were an acceptable explanation for the situation. I finally gave up and canceled everything. They said a refund check was on its way. Two months later, no check, no call. The incompetence here runs from top to bottom, including management. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone.

He wanted to do everything he can to get us back to Brooklyn, after he switched the alternator for us, he also filled up our fluids just because he knew the long drive we were about to make he didn't want us getting stuck! He was the kindest man and probably has the best prices in this town, you wouldn't regret bringing your car to him. Other than fixing our problem he was a great person in general we got to know each other the few hours we were there and he is one amazing guy with such a sweet soul. This work should have been a 1 day job and cost $500, but I was told by one of the acting manager's (Hailey) they had trouble getting the part and that it would be ready 3 days later at $900. When I picked up the car, after 4 more days of having to call them to find out if the work was done, there was a large scratch running down my passenger's side door and my keys were held ransom until I paid the price quoted for the work to be done at the initial estimated time of 3 days. I heard multiple excuses each day why the work was not done on time and heard everything from: ordered wrong part, the old part broke trying to remove it, and they needed two days to get a drill bit to drill out the piece that snapped off. When I arrived at the location to pick up the car I contacted the Saugerties PD, and there was nothing they could do for a civil matter other than make an incident report. The only manager whose name is posted on the wall (Markos Peratikos) is not present at this location and was not available by phone when the police were summoned over the dispute - despite having spoken to him the day before to report the issue. I was standing there, in the shop forced to call the absentee manager because the acting manager (John Smith) refused to call him claiming he was "in a meeting." This was around 7pm in the evening. I specifically requested Markos call me back when I spoke to him earlier in the day to let me know how much I would be charged when I showed up to pick up the car. I never received a call back after leaving multiple voice messages before going to the location which is about an hour from where I live as this was an unexpected pulley failure. This place is a scam and absolute nightmare. I would never go back to a Monro anywhere after this experience. It pains me to write this as I from the Hudson Valley and saddened to witness how badly the commercial incompetence crisis has blighted this area. I am considering filing a claim with the court. These people should be ashamed of themselves and give decent mechanics everywhere a bad reputation. Be warned, if you value your time and capital stay away from this place. Needless to say they are not registered with the better business bureau.
