What a great find! We're in town from Illinois for a baseball tournament and stopped by Oak Creek Diner for breakfast. From the moment we walked in, we knew we'd found a local favorite. The counter service was a great bonus and gave the place that classic diner feel. Everything we ordered was fantastic. The corned beef hash was some of the best we've had, the Western omelette was loaded with fresh ingredients, and the meat lovers skillet was hearty, packed with bacon, sausage, ham, and plenty of flavor. Every plate came out hot, the portions were generous, and everything was cooked just right. Friendly service, great food, and a classic diner atmosphere. Oak Creek Diner was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Wisconsin. We stopped here for breakfast on our way from Milwaukee to Chicago, and I honestly wish we lived closer because we'd be regulars. I ordered the 2+2+2 with over easy eggs, bacon, and pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream. The strawberries were more like strawberry pie filling, which made the pancakes feel like such a treat. Speaking of the pancakes...they were probably the best pancakes I've ever had. They were the perfect combination of fluffy and substantial, and they completely lived up to the hype. My over easy eggs were cooked perfectly, which is harder to find than it should be, especially if you're picky about your eggs like I am. My husband ordered the country fried steak with over medium eggs, American fries, and sourdough toast. He let me steal a bite of the country fried steak, and it was delicious. The breading was crispy, perfectly seasoned, and just salty enough. He also couldn't stop talking about the American fries, which were somewhere between home fries and hash browns. He said he could have happily eaten a whole plate of those by themselves. The portions were enormous, everything tasted incredibly fresh, and it genuinely felt like the food was made with care. The coffee was exactly what you want from a diner. It was hot, fresh, and they never let our cups get anywhere close to empty. Our server Ashley was kind, friendly, and struck that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering. Even though the restaurant was packed, we waited less than 10 minutes for a table and our food came out quickly, hot, and exactly as ordered. The atmosphere was everything I want in a classic diner. It had total grandma-core vibes with Americana décor, wallpaper, quilted wall hangings, and that nostalgic 90s diner feel. It was busy the entire time we were there, but somehow it never felt loud or chaotic. Everything, including the bathrooms, was spotless. One of my favorite little moments was finally hearing the thick Wisconsin accents I'd been hoping to hear all trip. It absolutely made my day. More than that though, this place felt like the definition of "Wisco Nice." Everyone we interacted with was genuinely warm and welcoming, and it was the perfect way to start our morning. Wow, this place was hopping on a Sunday morning but I'm told it's always busy, no matter when you go. We arrived before the bigger crowds so we were able to be seated within a few minutes. Coffee and water was offered promptly and re-filled often throughout our meal. Oak Creek Diner had a menu for everyone's tastes and I settled on my usual, eggs benedict. Everyone's meals were generous portions and piping hot, not a complaint to be had at the table. Pricing was quite affordable and a great value for the service and quality of the meals we had. Even with the amount of people coming through here, the restaurant was clean and I appreciated the seasonal/ homey decorations throughout. Had to wait short time at 11a.m. Got seated. Ambiance was very comfy as almost everyone seemed to know front cashier and her medical concerns. Not as warm to people she didn't know but I guess expected. Prices were a lot higher than they used to be but again these owners have had it 3 1/2years and things change! Reyes special chili omelet. It was just ok. Too many green peppers. Maybe a dollop of sour cream would have made it more desirable. Chili had good flavor. "Small" pancakes were more than generous. I highly recommend, check out the specials, great for breakfast, great for groups! They have a beautiful large room with tables for your group to have a meeting or private gathering. Get ready for the best service for breakfast. Oak Creek diner is really smart to have a designated server for drinks. Keeping everybody's coffee filled is a full-time job and keeps everybody happy and frees up the servers to focus on the food. The steak was cooked to my request, it was flavorful, I wanted the fillet, but it was not available. There is some question as to whether it is no longer offered ever or just out temporarily the fillet on the menu was $32 if I remember correctly. Coffee was good, everything was delicious. Service was excellent and I'm going to tell you that they have some very hard-working staff members there the kind that every owner wishes they could acquire. Really a great job. Headed back to Chicago and stopped by this Diner and was pleasantly surprised with how quick the service was and how great the food was. The ambiance is that of a rural, friendly, bustling diner with regulars at the bar and families at every table. I got a fairly simply veggie skillet and coffee, both were exactly what you expect and want. What surprised me was the quality of the veggies compared to what I've had at other diners. They are fast and efficient. Came here for the first time for breakfast with a friend. It's a plain-looking building with a parking lot out front and a few small windows. Inside, there's a counter area and a larger dining room to the left. It was early Friday morning. We were greeted and seated right away, with waters and beverages brought shortly after. The server checked back with us several times before we were ready to order. The menu selection is standard breakfast fare -- eggs, omelets, skillets, pancakes, country fried steak, etc. (You won't find avocado toast or lox and bagels here.) Our omelets came out almost before we ordered them :) My veggie omelet was straightforward but under-seasoned, so I added some salt and pepper. The accompanying English muffin was fine, though it could have been toasted a bit more. Staying at a hotel near the airport and had to find an early AM breakfast spot before hitting the road out of town. Oak Creek Diner opened super early, was close by, so it fit the bill. We walked in before 7am and the place was already packed. Service was friendly and fast, the meals were huge, and were tasty and well prepared. My daughter has the 2+2+2 and I had a full breakfast with gyro meat. Her scrambled eggs were a touch soft but otherwise no complaints. This is an excellent diner that our friends recommended after we picked them up from the Milwaukee airport. The parking lot was full, which was a good sign, and we had to wait about 10 minutes on this Sunday morning for a table. Their menu is large with a lot of options. I asked my wife to pick A or B because I couldn't decide which restaurant to stop at for breakfast on a morning off from work and B (Oak Creek Diner) was the selection. I ordered the meatlovers omelette (sausage, bacon, ham, and American cheese) which came with a choice of potatoes or fruit (I chose hashbrowns) and a choice of toast or mini pancakes (I chose mini pancakes). I also ordered a side of Texas toast. The toast could have had butter spread to the edges by default instead of a glob in the middle, but it wasn't hard to spread on my own. The hashbrowns were cooked well, but were not seasoned by default, making them a blank canvas for you to add your own salt, pepper, ketchup, etc. The pancakes were slightly on the sweet side before the syrup, which I liked, and had a good balance between not too fluffy and not too dense. The ham was very prevalent in the omelette while the bacon was completely and sadly unnoticeable. All in all, nothing in particular stood out as awful or specifically worth coming back for. The hollandaise sauce had too much butter in my opinion and could have used more lemon juice. I also had a side order of latkes (potato pancakes). These were some of the best latkes I have had in a LONG time. They were crispy, oniony, and made with fresh shredded potato. Most diners serving potato pancakes just buy frozen patties and heat them. Definitely a better experience than last time we went with our Native American elder friend and his live-in roommate. The staff was patient with us. I believe last time they threw us in the back room, and I guess it was Echoey To our elderly friends, and I believe I had the French dip last time it had no au juice and no Swiss cheese or provolone or anything like that on it and it was dry. I didn't realize that it wasn't a true French dip but this time I had an omelette I believe the farmers omelette, but I took out the green peppers put the bacon on the side had some cheesy hashbrowns and a ton of coffee and being that the staff was patient with us waiting on our friends to get there they were accommodating, and even though my fiancé was with me we had a really cute waitress Who is at least all bubbly. I do recommend this restaurant, although I really do wish that they would have kept the original hours before pandemic happened. They suck in that regard. They're only open till like three.
