We had a group of seven and visited Oak Mountain Lanes on a Thursday evening around 7 pm. We were able to get a lane immediately, and there was not a restriction on how many people could bowl in one lane. We were glad about that. The shoes were in good shape, which was nice. Some places you go, the shoes are in rough shape, and the counter personnel were nice and friendly. There were no problems with the lane, and around 9 p.m., they started cosmic bowling. These guys can't seem to get it right. Getting a lane and shoes was easy - no wait even on a Saturday afternoon. But the snack bar should be shut down. They can't make decent food and seem to work really hard to not have food assigned to the right pickup number... so that many don't even receive their ordered/paid for food. We ordered 2 burgers and fries. We checked with the snack bar 3xs to see if our food was ready and each time told that it wasn't up yet - even though other who ordered burgers after us were receiving them. 33 minutes after we placed the order I asked the snack bar a 4th time and asked if the burgers and fries waiting were ours... the response was oh, ya, if this is why you ordered. It was clear that they were cold given that the grilled bun was cold to the touch. I'm not sure the food would have been edible if it was warm but it was disgusting. read more

I recommend making a reservation if you come on the weekend. If you come in and put your name on the list. Make sure you keep track of it because you will get overlooked. This place is awesome! I came here this weekend. We played laser tag and bowled for hours. The bar was nice, and they also sell tons of food if you get hungry. This wasn't my first time at this bowling alley, but I believe they may have made some upgrades to this place since the last time I was there. After having lunch, a large group of my friends and acquaintances decided to come here as a fun group activity. We paid for 2 hours of bowling and were given our shoes pretty quickly. We were split up between 3 lanes and of course, they put us right together. One thing I noticed, there wasn't any music playing. I like to hear music when I bowl. Our lane kept having technical difficulties. After the 3rd time our lane had an issue, a worker came over and offered to move us to another lane. We took her up on the offer--even though it was kind of annoying to have to move. I didn't play any of the video games, but I noticed they had a nice size area that kids would definitely enjoy. I love that you don't pay per game here but by the hour! We originally bought 2 hours and then realized that was a lot of bowling. Have only been here once, but have a good selection of lanes in the area to compare with. First thing that stands out is the overall appearance. The lanes themselves are very freshly renovated and have a good modern bowling alley appearance. The lanes have state of the art scoring systems. They also have some really cool options, as far as how they set the pins. We were here for a bowling tournament and was watching some kids practice. The pin setters kept giving them the same configurations over and over, however not regular configurations. They gave them carious splits over and over so they would be able to practice picking up splits. Just like the other alleys in town they run specials during the week between Monday and Thursday. Starting at 9:00 you can bowl until closing for $10. During that time they run several food and drink specials, making a bowling outing very reasonable. They have house balls and shoes that can be rented so you don't have to worry about not having your own. However, if you find that you are really into bowling and want to take a huge step towards improving your ability, they have a pro shop that carries all the necessary supplies to equip yourself with all the tools needed to have all your won bowling gear. Good location and would like to go back and bowl here soon. If you are a fan of bowling or have always wanted to try, give this location a shot! read more

Couldn't get pizza because of the parties booked that hadn't shown up yet. I'm here asking for food, but told no. On the credit card processor, it asks you to input a tip before you see your total. Stop asking for a tip before you provide the service. Puts consumers in an uncomfortable position. If I don't tip, will they spit in my food? Tips are earned and should never be expected. I tip well for great service, but refuse to be taken by the expectation that's tips are guaranteed. Once I find places that blatantly ask for tips, I never patronize them again. It's not the fault of the young people working there. Management is creating and perpetuating a culture that teaches impressionable young people that mediocrity is ok. read more

There is a global pandemic and this place refuses to enforce a mask mandate. Only a strong recommendation. We walked in and had to scan the packed lanes for a few masks. At least 85% of the patrons were unmasked and even the employees had them down around their chins. I will not support such an establishment. read more

Oak Mountain Lanes is on Bowling Lane, how perfect is that? And there is a glow necklace vending machine adjacent to a pain reliever vending machine, haha. Pretty big and tidy facility with none of that old stale cigarette smoke odor. The young women working the register were upbeat, friendly, and informative. You can pay either by the game or by the hour, with both having reasonable rates. There also seemed to be a lot of deals available, if you go at off-peak times. The shoes were in good shape and looked clean, or as clean as you hoped they were. I was a fan of the touchscreens for scorekeeping, how high tech! Overall the experience was pretty good! My daughter and her basketball teammates all got unlimited laser tag for the night and had a blast! However I heard from multiple of the girls that some of the other kids playing laser tag with them were annoying "A-S-F"?! My daughter and her friends had to gang up on one of the kids in order to eliminate him from the game! Yay go them! The kid was 7 years old. Anyways. Our family loves Oak Mountain Lanes! It's one of our favorite places to go on hot summer days and rainy winter afternoons. Large and recently updated, it's great for adults and kids alike. They offer league bowling several nights a week and sign up sheets are near the front counter. My kids enjoy coming here because the have bumpers and ramps to help them build their scores. There's even a summer program for kids- for $7, your child can play 2 free games each weekday, all you have to pay for is shoe rental. My kids are THRILLED about this! There is a snack bar offering hot dogs, pretzels, nachos, and other snacks. There is also a bar offering beer, wine, and liquor. One one end, there is an arcade with games you can earn tickets playing, and trade them in for prizes! read more

I've booked quite a few corporate events here in addition to my birthday party every year and other than teenage employees chatting with each other rather than helping customers I've been rather pleased with everything - particularly with corporate events on weekday afternoons. So why one star? I just discovered that they are less than willing to cater to smaller groups. I tried to make a reservation and everything was fine, they were not booked up but when I said I needed three lanes I was told they would not accept a reservation for less than four lanes. In my opinion, it's a policy that says "your business is not important to us - we only want big spenders." Clearly, they have not seen the kind of bar tabs this group runs up! I can live with their policy and would have booked somewhere else had I not been told we could still get in if we came early. We did come early and only a few lanes were in use but we were turned away. We were told that a group booked eight lanes apparently after I called and they were now full. Still not a fan of this policy, but I could live with it had the message not been delivered in such a rude manner, not by a teenage employee but, by an adult whose customer service skills were beyond rude. Just a shrug of the shoulders and an "oh well, you should have booked four lanes" attitude. So, this is the reason for one star. OML is a great choice for those wanting to do some late night bowling in a town that struggles to keep up with an active nightlife that involves things other than drinking and eating. The place is kept clean, the staff is extremely personable and the prices are definitely right. For friends, my wife and I to play on a Friday night (four of us total), the grand total for an hour was about 37 bucks including shoes. (We managed to get almost two full games in.) There were plenty of balls in good quality to choose from, the lanes and surrounding areas weren't gross, and the other customers seemed to be focused on enjoying themselves and not trying to cause any drama. Bowlers ranged from teenage to middle-aged, and the music played as background accommodated all crowds well I think. OML is a good choice for bowling if you and friends/family just wanna get out and DO something. Two things to be aware of, though - 1) the place closes pretty early (i.e., midnight unless I'm mistake) so plan accordingly, and 2) unless it was just a fluke, the lanes (i.e., the path leading up to the actual ball-to-pins area) is crazy slippery - keep that in mind so you don't bust yer @$$ heading for that strike. Or don't, and give your group something to talk about tomorrow. lol Above all, enjoy yourself - shouldn't be tough at this place. :) read more

We went here last night with a group of friends for the first time. I really enjoyed this bowling alley over a few others I have been to in the area for a few reasons: 1. Cleanliness of the all areas 2. No wait time to bowl 3. Nice bar area and wide draft beer selection There is also a game area that my friends really enjoyed and won tickets. This place wasn't as far from me as I thought. I would definitely go again. The only cons in my opinion were that the cosmic lights do not starts until 9 pm and that I believe they cut our game a bit early. Other than that, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice relaxing atmosphere to bowl on a weekend with none of the cliche bowling smells (smoke) or bad food that most other bowling venues are still selling. read more

This is our go to bowling alley. It's a lot different that Holiday Bowl in Bessemer, I grew up going to. It's clean. The people are nice. It's usually crowded. I checked in on Yelp and got a free game coupon. We played arcade games won tickets got garbage prizes. The guy at the counter was very patient with the kids making such huge decisions between poppers and bouncy balls.... The video game/ arcade game selection is good. Prices are on par with most bowling alleys. My daughter failed to get the ball all the way down the lane once and the girl didn't hesitate to help and gave no grief about to. She gave us a neat little cheat rolling apparatus. There are plenty of balls. The place has tons of tvs and music. It's a good family friendly bowling alley. The food from the snack bar is actually quite decent for this type food. My son and I have both enjoyed burgers and such there in the past. There is a bar if you need a cold pitcher of beer. We decided to have my son's 5th birthday party here last weekend. My husband and I are big on bowling, but my son had never been before. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful to all of the children in our party. They had everything ready to go as soon as we arrived, and truly took the time to make my son feel special.
