We recently dined here for dinner. The restaurant was a decent size and every table was booked. I recommend making reservations for Saturday one week in advance. The food and service was GREAT! I highly recommend the oysters Rockefeller, all cuts of steaks, oak burger, fried chicken, Brussel sprouts, collard greens, and truffle fries. I don't recommend the sweet potatoes, they were too sweet. Our server Kenneth was very helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and professional. Top notch preparation of the meat here guys! Ribeye was prepared perfectly as ordered. The Filet mignon was very juicy finished with blue cheese, YUM. The Truffle fries were just so so nothing special. The Mac and cheese was pretty good give it a try. You have to finish off your meal with the Ricotta donuts...top notch! As some of the other reviews mentioned our server could have been a little more engaging i.e. pleasant very hard to get a smile out of her not sure she wanted to be at work. My review is a little biased is because my family and I came for a lunch during the week, which I'm sure they shine brighter during dinners. My family and I came here for a graduation lunch to celebrate! We tried a lot of different things and everything tasted pretty great. I was actually a big fan of their vegetable platter. The vegetable platter included white rice, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms with cauliflower. We also tried their ribeye, lobster tails, and corvina. We had a bottle of their sparkling wine ("Champagne :P" and our server was excellent. The steak was a little too well done at first, but they kindly got us a new one that tasted perfect. Towards the end, they even served us a celebratory graduation dessert which was really nice. Although the experience we had was nice, I would not go out of my way to come here. However, if I want to take some Alpharetta friends for a nice dinner or if we're near Avalon, I would recommend this place. read more

He made the best mojitos and Old Fashioned ever! Seriously knowledgeable. My guy and I split the 16oz Prime Boneless Ribeye and we ordered it well done. Let me just say, seasoned perfectly and still juicy!! This was probably the best steak I've ever had. For sides we ordered the cornbread, potatoes and three cheese Mac. PERFECTION! This is just the kind of restaurant I typically don't like...but not this time! First the rolls! So warm, so soft, and salted on top! And unlike nearly every other restaurant, they bring you soft, easily spreadable butter. Why is it that so many fine restaurants bring you frozen, useless butter? But don't make the mistake I did and eat too many rolls. There are other delights that await! Like the onion rings appetizer for example. These are made with Vidalia onions and they are noteworthy! We make drives for food and restaurants that have dishes that are noteworthy. You should definitely give these a try! I ordered the steak sandwich. I only discovered that I liked steak sandwiches about a decade ago. The typical streak sandwich suffers from one problem though. After taking a bite and pulling away from the sandwich, I usually won't have bitten all the way through the steak and end up dragging the steak off the bread. That's not a problem with this steak sandwich though. This meat is soooooooo tender that I bit right through every bite! It's so tender, you can cut it with a fork! That's right, I tried it! We had 5 guys book a reservation. We planned to eat steak, drink expensive drinks, celebrate a great night...etc. We get told that we are outside on the patio...an awful location...imagine getting put at the "kids" table! We ask to get placed at another table inside. We waited for an extra 1 1/2 hours. The manager put 2 people at tables for 5 and 6. We finally get our terrible table and squeeze in 5 men for a table for 4. We agreed to the table...only bc we were tired of waiting. Then the manager sits a table of six teenagers that got 3 meals and water between all of them at the table next to us and that we could have had for 1.5 hours!! Overall, the worst experience ever at a steakhouse. If they want to serve kids...good for them! That's why they have a lousy, inexperienced wait staff. The food...average at best. 2/5 steaks were sent back to be cooked correctly! People...go to other places! I promise that you will have a better experience! I ventured out last night for my cousins birthday. We arrived and was seated immediately. Our server was Krista. She was the absolute best server. So very thoughtful, very attentive, and she met our every need, even some times before we asked. I really appreciate this awesome server and wish every experience could be the same. We have been to Oak Steakhouse many times. Last night a group of our friends met for dinner. We sat outside and it was such a fun time. The weather was perfect. Our server, Thomas, was awesome--attentive, friendly, funny, engaging. He did a great job. The General Manager,Sergio, was as engaging. He was working with the servers delivering food & drinks, etc. It was really nice to see everyone WORKING together. We were really excited to try this place. It was very underwhelming. We got the octopus that we heard was fantastic. It was tough and cold. The drinks were good. They were out of the only fish main course. Hubs came for the wagyu but sadly we were concerned it wouldn't be good. The did not get the special instructions my wife requested when using the open table app, but they treat everyone special. When the hostesses realized it was my birthday they moved us to a special booth. The water was Great. My wife had the had the Mahi Mahi while I had the 8 oz filet mignon. Came here here for my dad's birthday yesterday. The food was good, but they didn't cook any of our dinners the way we asked. My mom ordered her steak medium (my dad and I both ordered medium rare), but she received medium rare and we both got ours medium. We are not ones to waste food, but for the prices they charge for steak, we expected them to cook them to order. Especially disappointing considering it was my dad's birthday. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. The food was good (loved the jalapeño cheddar cornbread ((although there is no hint of jalapeño)), and the service was friendly. Really great ambiance, as well. One last thing, my dad mentioned the mixed drink he ordered at the bar was much better than the second (same drink order) he received later on when we were sitting at a table. When I think of oak, I think of something aged through time, like a fine wine. This time and patience is also inherited in the meats they prep. If I remember correctly the Debraggo ribeye was dry aged for 28 days in NYC. The only thing missing was Salt Bae, to make it entertaining and fun! This is a five star plus type of restaurant, they do everything at a super high level. We had a drink at the bar before dinner, they had three bartenders manning the bar so no one was waiting for drinks. They seated our eight-top right on time. After a bit the bar tender walked up and we started to ask about drink specials, he then proceeded to turn around and walk away while I was in mid sentence and didn't return. The ambience inside was really nice! But we were outside and the weather was good (Oct 1). I booked on Open Table, so reservations were convenient. K had the ribeye of course and he said it was a really good steak, but the price was high ($70). I added fried shrimp to his steak as my meal. We remembered to tell them not to split the steak in half, since I usually only eat the corners. I asked for a side of bearnaise, but didn't like it. We ordered mashed potatoes & macaroni & I liked both. The mashed potatoes were awesome, especially since I don't normally like restaurants' mashed potatoes. K ate more of the macaroni, so the 2 sides worked out for us. I was disappointed they didn't have crab cake or lobster bisque like in the photos. The server said prices went up recently so they removed items from the menu. The server was really good though. The bread was good. Our friend enjoyed his salmon. After a long break from coming here, we decided to come back after a year. Our reservation was for 8:15 and we didn't get seated until 8:45. Then our server didn't come for 12 minutes and repeatedly did not come back even when our drinks were empty. We ordered quickly and waited another 35 minutes until our food arrived. We ordered the market price rib eye which was $108 and the mashed potatoes with the upgraded truffle butter. I have to say it was the worst steak I have ever eaten. It was so tough I couldn't chew it and the potatoes tasted terrible. I can honestly say steak at outback is far superior to what I had tonight. We will not be returning here. read more

Went for lunch with a group. The food was average and the service is worse. The waiter had a terrible attitude, making the entire lunch experience unpleasant. The food wasn't good enough to forgive our waiters behavior. Additionally, the waiter was not aware of what was on the vegetable plate. I can't even start. Super disappointed.We were early, checked in at host stand, wanted to get a drink at the bar but couldn't even get anyone to look at us. A Bartender that never asked for our drink order made her way around the bar only to discuss my husbands poor service comment she overheard him say to our out of town guest. Waited 45 minutes to sit on the patio in cheap aluminum chairs with a hanging space heater that was so hot it singed my eye lashes. The hostess blamed us and said they were looking for us for 20 minutes mind you we are a party of 6 kind of hard to miss, had already checked in and are standing at the bar trying to get drinks. Our server Even was the only thing that restaurant had that was great. Husband spoke to manager who kept sending us apps and sides and partially charged us for food we didn't even order!Steak was full of gristle over cooked and tough. Will never ever eat there again. Loved-loved-loved the atmosphere here! Fantastic woodwork and other good quality pieces, very upscale but not pretentious. Quite romantic and relaxing. They have a very well stocked bar so I tried sazerac and manhattan - both great! Went here today, Mother's Day, and was very disappointed in my meal. The cinnamon roll starter was dry and stale. The ham and cheese quiche was a very small wedge, maybe 3 bites. It was dry, almost warm and seemed like a left over. The berry fruit cup was late arriving to the table and might have been fresh yesterday. Visited the Oak steakhouse for our anniversary. Decided to try the dry aged Net York strip. Ordered it medium with the Brussel sprouts and Mac and cheese I had the peach salad as an appetizer, it was good but not great. The steak came and it was beautiful! I started with the sides, the Brussel sprouts were delicious. Well seasoned, slightly sweet with a hint of THAI spice and the cauliflower was a nice addition. The Mac and cheese however did not impress. The sauce was bland and not well seasoned. The temp on the steak was perfect but the flavor of the dry aged meat did not make my taste buds happy. I do believe that it was my taste profile and not the quality of the meat. My suggestion is unless you know you like the flavor profile of dry aged meat, don't spend the extra money. If you venture into Avalon in Alpharetta, manage to find a parking spot and don't get too terribly turned around you will find Oak Steakhouse peppered into the retail and restaurant complex. It's lovely to walk around Avalon at night and see the lights draped over the walkways. No doubt the resident units above have a nice view down below. Oak has some outdoor seating (with heaters if it's chilly out) which is a great option if you want to take in the view of the complex. Inside though, you can expect more traditional steakhouse albeit modernized. Dark and woody, inviting and cozy and those steakhouse aromas that make my knees go weak. The waiters have on leather aprons to give a butcher feel. It's pretty fab. The menu is fairly steakhouse standard but don't limit yourself to beef. The truffle parmeasan fries put me in heaven at first bite. But I digress. The parkerhouse rolls served warm with big crunchy salt flakes is a fine way to start the meal. I could not resist ordering a short rib. Sure it's a steakhouse but I don't often see short ribs on such menus. It did not disappoint. Everything you want in a braised short rib was there. Complex flavor, tenderness and the ride mix of sidecar veg to make every mouthful perfection. Dipping some fresh mini donuts for dessert is both whimsical and delicious. Excuse your manners for just one moment and lick your fingers. Who doesn't enjoy an interactive dessert now an then? Salted caramel ice cream and warm caramel sauce make this a three way win in my book. My only warning is sitting outside with heaters on doesn't keep the food warm, only your body. Eat fast or order wisely. All in all I enjoyed this somewhat modern take on a classic steakhouse. read more

Beware! This place is a rip-off show, the service is really bad and the food is very inconsistent! That said, I don't mind paying top-dollar when I get what I'm paying for and that's what happened the first time I went to Oak. I was with a large group, the service was amazing ( because the place was empty) and we ordered almost everything on the menu and it was superb! Only issue that time is that they ran out of the wine we were drinking (which also happened twice on my second visit...so they obviously have a very shallow wine list). On my second visit (last week) we were met by two young and bothered high school girls who were hosting. They actually led me to the wrong table of people when I arrived! They seemed more interested in talking to each other than listening to the customers arriving. Then we were greeted by a pompous jerk named Kevin who was our waiter. Every time we asked for something he seemed to try and delegate it to people who could care less...so dirty plates and trays of seafood shells sat there as we tried to enjoy our wine... when my 12 ounce filet arrived (which I ordered MEDIUM and cost $59-) it was RAW... So I would say that this place is more like a tourist trap for the customers in the Avalon....and suggest you enjoy a nice steak at Teds Montana grill instead! Alpharetta's best new upscale steakhouse!! Have been here twice since it opened, and have not been disappointed - their level of service is top-notch and the food is of exceptional quality. They also have a very extensive, quality wine list - love ordering the Hendry Zin from Napa - so yum!!! And they will not hesitate to chill your red wine and decant it upon request. The first time we went with another couple (party of 4) and we started with the Oysters Rockefeller which were good. For the main course, we ordered the 44oz. Tomahawk chop with a couple of sides (roasted root vegetables and potato puree) and wow- the steak was incredibly flavorful and was cooked absolutely perfect. On the second visit, we hadn't booked a reservation, so we managed to get two seats at the bar for dinner. This time we tried the pork shoulder ravioli for starters and it was wonderful. For the main course, we ordered the 8 oz. filet and beef short ribs and split the two. Once again, the steak was cooked to perfection, incredibly flavorful and the short ribs were falling off the bone, so tender, no knife needed. Ordered the truffle frites as our side and they were completely addicting. Each time we've gone here, we have had absolutely no room for dessert. Next time we'll need to pace ourselves. This place is not cheap- you can easily drop $200-$300 for a party of 2 depending on what you order. Definitely a place to splurge if you are looking to be spoiled with an excellent meal. The staff is all friendly and they go above and beyond to make your dining experience a memorable one. Check this place out if you can! 3rd visit - another spectacular meal! Ordered the pappardelle bolognese and the slow braised pork shoulder, both of which were incredibly flavorful and delicious. For the first time, we ordered dessert, which was a sticky date pudding... Almost a home run if it weren't for a bartender shift change. Here we go! Made a reservation for four on a Wednesday. None of us had been to this restaurant so it was going to be a bit more exciting not knowing what to look forward to. The staff was wonderful, all very kind and accommodating and quite conversational. Bravo to the hiring manager....real people work here! We started off with a few cocktails. Two lemon drop martinis, the house Sauvignon blanc, and a "Mojito Summer Ghost" (I totally jacked that name up..but they'll know what'cha mean.) Oh man it was good! Nice and spicy. They used a ghost pepper infused rum to make it. Kinda sweet, but still packs a kick for someone who doesn't really like "girly drinks." The apps! We ordered the charcuterie board, the blue crab cake, the scallops, and the truffle fries. Yes...we're ambitions eaters. All of it was fantastic. The flavors and the additions and the plating, all superb. The truffle fries will have you reaching for more and more and more no matter what summer beach body program you're on. It won't matter with these damn fires. This is the point when it became time for another round. Everyone stuck to their original drink order, but I felt the need to lessen the sugar intake and opted for their best version of a fresh spicy margarita (keep it simple...but STRONG) and they delivered! It was so perfect. I knew I'd need one more to be complete. :) Dinner! Can you believe four women could eat more? In all we got the salmon, (2) bone-in ribeye's and I got the market fish which was red snapper and I opted for a blue crab cake topper as I wanted to try it and during the apps sacrificed the opportunity to my girlfriends for the scallops (no one should cut a scallop in half to share.) The meals were phenomenal and beyond memorable. By the end of the meal a few of us went for round three on drinks and I was sadly disappointed. I'm not sure if this is a gift or not, but I knew someone else made this 2nd spicy margarita. It was all kinds of WRONG. I took two sips and discarded it. It was the end of our meal and late so I didn't bother to even request a do-over but I did inform our waitress as we were leaving and she confirmed my suspicion.
