[[HIGHLIGHT]]We came here on Memorial Day, about 15 minutes after they opened for the day and it was already packed! Crazy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We found metered parking directly across from Oakobing and walked over. I think there is parking behind the shops through the alley. I didn't know any specifics since I didn't park there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As we walked in the front doors, I got in line while hubby saved us a table. If you go out the back door, there is another room with more seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I waited for my turn at the kiosk... you place the order yourself. Be sure to enter your phone number to earn loyalty points. I felt bad for the one lady making all the orders by herself. She was working as quickly as she could! I watched her for a little bit. She changed gloves often, keeping the ingredients separated. It wasn't long before I was taking my order to the table. I ordered two individual size bingsoos. One would have been ample for us to share. Each of them cost $8.50 and I got a side of Mochi for $2.25. This was some of the freshest Mochi topping I've had! Each piece was so super soft, even softer than marshmallows! They came in a condiment container so we could add them as we desired. Hubby's bingsoo was the Mango Melon and mine was the Mango. The shaved ice used was Mango for both. His had melon (Honeydew) balls and mine had mango chunks. This wasn't the best bingsoo I've had, but it was refreshing and made for a nice dessert! I thought I had been here before and I was right! It was Homibing and since my visit in 2017, it has become Oakobing. I'm glad we got to come check it out! The shaved ice menu still looks the same, except for the updated prices!

Parking is tough with the large amounts of people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating was completely full and spills over to an extra room they have for seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waiting line was out the door for the two ordering kiosks. The Injeolmi Shaved Ice was my favorite. It is a creamy milk flavor. Ice was finely shaved and melted in the mouth nicely. Mochi pieces gave it extra texture. Dirty green tea oreo shaved ice has a shot of coffee on the side to drizzle on. The green tea isn't really a strong taste and the ice just makes it more watery. Coffee drizzled on just made the dessert a little more bitter. Overall an okay place for shaved ice. I'll probably only order the injeolmi shaved ice next time!

I heard good things about this spot, but it far exceeded my expectations! Their ice is so soft and fluffy, it honestly doesn't feel like you're eating shaved ice at all. We got the matcha and mango flavors. I found both pretty refreshing, especially the mango which ended up being my favorite. Portions were good; I liked how they piled so much into the small cups that we got. They had lots of seating, which was great since it was really crowded the day we went. Love this spot, it was a perfect sweet treat for a night out!

We visited Oakobing for dessert after dining at Hangari Kalguksu nearby just before for lunch. Although it was just down the street, we had to pay again for parking since we weren't allowed to leave the respective lots without paying extra. $5 parking just to grab dessert was a bit of a sting but for LA it's to be expected. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was somewhat small but wasn't really busy for a Saturday afternoon, and we noticed they had some spacious auxiliary seating areas specifically for Oakobing across the hall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At first glance, the prices seemed sort of high for shaved ice, so we opted for sharing 2 of the smallest personal sizes ($8.5 each). It turns out that this size was plenty. I'm not sure how big the regular bowls are, but I think especially after a meal the personal size is plenty for a satisfying dessert for 2 people. I'm assuming part of the large price difference in sizes comes down to the large amount of fresh fruit that comes on their regular bowls. Still, we very much enjoyed our bowls. The ice is shaved almost impossibly thin, and rather than melting into a pool of water almost turns into a sorbet/ice cream like texture, which is very satisfying to eat. I enjoyed how their condensed milk topping was diluted to form a lighter cream that was more sauce-like than think and drizzle-like. It all lended to making the dessert enjoyably light. I would definitely drop by again, especially if we could avoid the parking costs.

I had really high hopes for this place considering it was recommended by a friend and the positive reviews, but we were pretty disappointed. We ordered the mango bingsoo with a side of the melon balls. I like the texture of the snow, but the flavor left much to be desired. It has an artificial mango taste that isn't very pleasant. The mangos were also not fresh... tasted like the frozen mangos you get at the freezer section of the grocery store. I wish it was also in a bowl, since it's pretty messy eating it on the plate. Every time I tried to scoop some snow, some would fall onto the tray since the plate is so small. The melon balls were fine, slightly sweet but not super ripe. I like that you can order through a kiosk and that there's pictures of what you are ordering. The snow came out reasonably quickly considering there was only one person working. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior has plenty of tables for you to sit down and enjoy your desserts.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We parked nearby for lunch and walked over, but parking seems pretty limited/difficult (standard for LA though I guess, lol).

My go to shaved ice dessert spot. Got the matcha one this time, which comes with red bean and mochi. It wasn't too sweet and was really light, which I liked because it doesn't make me feel too guilty having a sweet treat. ive also had the strawberry one and mango melon in the past and it is so refreshing. Parking can be a little rough since it's mainly street parking, but they do have valet in the back. Ordering is super easy since it's all self service kiosks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating, but it does get really packed at night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, always a solid spot and I'd definitely keep coming back!

OK, so this place was good, don't get me wrong. But I was expecting a little bit more. I know this is one of the top places in Koreatown, but I feel like I've had slightly better once elsewhere. The flavor of the snow I got was good, but it didn't allow me very much. I would have liked maybe more condensed milk on the side, the container they give is kind of small, but I probably could've asked for more. Overall, I think it's worth a shot, but I would probably not come back unless I'm really craving it.

I went on a Wednesday night around 7:30 and it was relatively empty. It was pretty packed by the time we left though so I would expect a wait if you're going a little later at night. We ordered at the kiosk and got our food super quick. We also got lucky with street parking nearby which was free after 6pm I think Pineapple: 4/5 this is a special flavor that I think is only available in April. I liked it but kinda wished it was a little more sour. Note: I like Oakobing a lot in general bc their bingsu is a creamier than other places but this was $20 so def not something I would get often. It was big enough that my friend and I were pretty full and didn't wanna finish it so it probably is a good amount for 3-4 people

Oakobing is definitely one of my favorite dessert spots in Ktown! I stopped by with some friends on a Saturday night and it was packed. You order at the self service kiosks. I appreciate how they have smaller single bingsu as well as the full sized options. We got the mango melon full sized shaved ice, which comes in a half melon bowl with melon balls - it was so refreshing and perfect for sharing. That said, it does get very crowded on weekend evenings and finding a table was a bit of a challenge. They have indoor as well as limited outdoor tables. Tables weren't really cleaned as frequently, likely as the staff were simply so busy. Parking can be tricky especially on busy weekend evenings.

Wanted a late night sweet treat, and DoorDash had a BOGO deal for Oakobing, which was so nice! My husband and I both got a small Strawberry bingsu each. It comes with condensed milk, and we added on some mochi bites for $2 each. Even though the mochi was a nice added topping, it wasn't worth the extra $2 each. The bingsu itself is really light and refreshing. The order came with a small ice pack to keep our order perfectly frozen in transit. The order did take 2 hours to deliver, which is kinda crazy, but it was packed well and arrived perfectly! read more

The mango melon shaved ice at Oakabing will always be my favorite dessert in LA ktown. It's refreshing and not overly sweet. I think it's a must try if you come. The green tea shaved ice and the injeolmi (not pictured) were relatively lackluster but still decent. I would opt for a different one like strawberry which has a bit more sweetness. I would definitely recommend coming if you're in the area but just remember that parking might be tricky and weekends tend to have a long line at night. read more

This would be a 4.75 stars review if I could give it. Went on a Saturday around 10pm and it was very busy. Parking was a bit rough and we had to park down the block in some expensive paid parking structure. Luckily for my friends and I, the line wasn't didn't go out the door but there were no available tables at the time we entered. It was a bit cramped inside in order to fit as many tables as they could since they are a very popular location. We ordered through the terminal and didn't interact with any of the workers except just to check we got the right order. They had more tables in the back on the way to the bathroom and, thankfully, we were able to get a table before our bingsu was done. As for the bingsu, I'm obsessed. I wouldn't call it shaved ice because its texture was less like a snow cone but more like light, fluffy shaved ice cream, so more like shaved snow. They gave small capsules to-go sauce containers filled with complimenting sauces, such as condensed milk (for the green tea one) and some type of espresso syrup (for the oreo one), for each bingsu. They were satisfying to pour, but since the snow was so piled on, some of the syrup ran off. The snow was so flavorful as is but the syrups added another extra layer of flavor if you wanted to spice the bingsu up. Both flavors we got were so good and really hit after an ayce dinner. I appreciated they offered a "single" size in case you want to opt to try for new flavors instead of just choosing one. -0.25 star for the bathroom being just borderline clean/okay and poor parking. read more

Absolutely terrible service. There were three employees working, yet somehow nothing was getting done. One person was actually trying to handle orders, while the other two were just running back and forth opening doors, bringing random supplies, or casually adding garnish. At one point, the main person working disappeared during rush hour, leaving everything even more chaotic. Meanwhile, customers were left waiting -- we waited an hour and a half for our order, which is completely unacceptable. To make things worse, if you stood near the counter to check on your order, the man who was supposedly stocking napkins, adding garnish, and calling numbers was rude and dismissive. I even texted the manager using the number posted on the wall and never got a response, which says a lot about how this place is run. Disorganized, slow, and unprofessional. Definitely not worth the time or frustration. I won't be coming back. read more

There was a short line when we arrived but it's ok, it gave us tome to check out the menu. Single Mango Shaved Ice came with fruit and a sauce cup of evaporated milk. Single Strawberry Shave Ice also came with fruits and a sauce cup of evaporated milk. The single servings are still too big for the kids. There is indoor and outdoor eating areas but all were occupied. There was a wait to get our order. By the time we got our order, the line went out the door and down the block. Bathroom for building patrons available. The building has its own parking that is valet only. Entrance is on the side of the building facing the alley. So basically, enter the alley from 6th Street. read more

This was my second time coming here and it was as wonderful as the first!! The restaurant is a bit small, many times you will need to wait for a table to open up. You order at the ipad kiosks in the front and within 5 minutes, your order number will be called out. Oakobing has some of the most fresh fruits-- I don't know how they have such a fresh variety every time! We ordered: the single-sized STRAWBERRY-- it was very refreshing and the strawberries on the side were very tasty. It does not have an artificial taste! single-sized OREO TIRAMISU- this was my personal favorite. It tastes like a cookies and cream milkshake. There are chunks of oreo throughout the shaved ice as well as cocao, so you never get a bite without oreo. it is SO creamy and delicious, and a MUST try if you are in Koreatown! read more

The store is quite small but comfortable and we went on a Monday night and it was so crowded and we had to hover to get a seat It was easy to order and wait for your number. I came here on a Sunday afternoon. You order at the kiosk and then they will call your name when it's ready. The place is on the smaller side and there are a few tables inside and outside as well. The 3 of us shared the single size mango melon shaved ice. I'm glad we got the smaller size because the large one looked enormous and better for a bigger group to share. It came with a small cup of condensed milk you can pour over your shaved ice. I loved the texture of the shaved ice which was more creamy than icy, and I enjoyed the cute little honeydew melon balls. Wish they provided more honeydew balls for the single size! Overall super cute, refreshing and delicious! Parking can be a little difficult. We were able to find meter parking across the street but they do have valet as well. read more

Absolutely one of my favorite dessert places in ktown. Not sure why I have never made a review for this place. I have been coming here many, many times and always bring friends out of town to this spot. Cons are that it's pretty small with limited seating. Parking can be hard in this area, they do have limited paid spots. But the shaved ice should be the standard for your expectations of bingsoo. Other dessert places in town will sell shaved ice but just not at the same grade in taste and presentation as Oakobing. Green tea is my favorite next to mango and the no longer sold cantaloupe. This place is popular so be prepared to fight for a table at peak hours! We were able to snag the last outside but it was right under a tree so thankfully, we were under the shade. Service: 4/5 Not much interaction except when picking up because ordering is done through a kiosk. But the employees are so quick and efficient even with a large crowd. Dessert: 5/5 4 of us opted for a single serving for 4 different flavors! Mango + mango melon + strawberry - Super refreshing and very light! Not too sweet until we added condensed milk to them lol. Loved how there were real pieces of fruit too! Matcha - A bit on the heavier side because it wasn't as refreshing as the fruit based ones. Mochi balls went well with this! I would recommend to skip out on the condensed milk as it was already sweet on its own. Highly recommend and would come back! read more

Best Bingsoo in LA! So incredibly simplistic and light but still creamy and just enough flavor to make it addicting. Black sesame ($12.99) is the best and costs $2 less than Strawberry. Strawberry ($14.99) is the second best. Green Tea is the third best. Mango is good but it's not as flavorful and a bit more icy than the above flavors. read more

Best bingsu! Oakobing has the best texture out of all the other Korean dessert places I've been. Though simple, I also love the variety of flavors and toppings. The drinks are also pretty delicious as well and I'd recommend giving them a try. The only thing I need to do every time I go so prepare myself for finding a spot. It's pretty difficult to find a spot despite the ample seating they provide inside and outside, but just waiting a few minutes while others finish up is the best way to snag a spot read more

Since we had dinner in DTLA we came here for dessert. Located in Korea Town so it's hard to find street parking best to park in the nearby garage for $5 flat fee we paid the on site attendants who are friendly and directed us to our parking space. Oakobing is very crowded at night hard to find indoor seating as not enough chairs and I didn't feel safe enough to sit outdoor on the sidewalk. Customers line up to order and pay at the kiosk. When your order is ready they call your order number and name. We ordered the individual sizes strawberry, mango melon, and matcha with sides of mochi, red beans and Oreo. I could not taste a strong matcha flavor it was more sweet and creamy. I guess I'm comparing to the spectacular Japanese matcha shaved ice in Japan I recently had. They ran out of chairs so our party of four had to ration chairs and stand up to eat. Not sure if I would drive out of my way to eat here unless I'm nearby. read more

On a hot day, this place is the perfect refreshing snack or dessert! Love the convenience and ease of ordering since it's all done on a screen when you walk inside. - delicious milk shaved ice - I've seen tons of good reviews for this place, so we came here right before our flight. It was a hot Saturday in the summer so everyone was there. The store isn't that big, but every table was occupied and there is a long time for the ordering kiosk. They provide complimentary water for their guests here too. We got a single milk flavor shaved ice for $7.12 (single). The large one is huge and probably requires a party of 4-5 to finish as a dessert unless you are eating this as a meal. We waited 30 minutes for our shaved ice, and it came with a mint leaf and some Injeolmi (인절미), or Korean rice cake. They also sprinkled peanut powder on top, and everything was already sweet but they gave you a diluted condensed milk for dressing as well. I thought the shaved ice was super delicious.... Very refreshing and not overly sweet. Also the peanut powder fits the milk flavor perfectly. It's rather simple but it's good. I don't remember snowy village being this good, or maybe I've never ordered the plain milk flavor before. I think sticking with the milk flavor is the way to go. Okay yall, if you want a spot for some korean bingsoo, I'd recommend going right when it opens. If not, you're gonna wait a bit. The spot is on the smaller side with a few tables and a few outdoor tables. Their process is literally shaving the ice in its whole form so its shaving down from a good sized ice block thats made with milk, green tea, etc. But overall, I think the aesthetics of how they put together their desserts is what makes it IG worthy. What an underwhelming experience. Crowded. Dirty surfaces. Mediocre Korean shaved ice. The bustling shop had tables crammed together. Several people stood around holding their dessert as they waited for seats to open up. Our table was smeared with plenty of sticky substances, so we wiped down the table ourselves. The Mango Melon was big enough for 2+ people to share! The shaved ice barely tasted like mango. The side of condensed milk felt oddly thin and runny. Good honeydew melon balls though. Not worth $16. The shaved ice itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best I've had. Since it seemed like a popular spot in the area, we decided to give it a try. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, just for the experience. We got the mango melon single size Bingsu which was just enough for two as a nice light dessert. Long lines waiting for this delicious dessert. And yes, it is 100% worth it. Now, for those readers who are asking the what; this is a Korean frozen milk ( milk shave ice). I know it sounds odd, different. However, if you do not go, you will be missing out. I ordered the strawberry, and my boyfriend ordered the coffee. We thought at first it's just to shave ice. Came here on a Monday night and it was pretty packed. Not my favorite bingsoo place but it did hit the spot. We got the mango bingsoo and we were a little disappointed with the amount of mango we got and felt it was too little. We wished there was more fruit layered in the inside to add more flavor like some other spots do. The shaved ice was a nice texture though and the sauce we got to pour on top was sweet and creamy. The presentation was beautiful as well. Ambience was alright. It was pretty packed and there wasn't enough chairs at our table so we had to wait a bit to grab one. Dessert was very yummy. You order via a tablet so all workers could prepare orders. There was enough seating for a lot of people and overflow in the back. Only feedback is that because workers are fulfilling orders and not every customer cleans after themselves, the tables looked shabby and sticky. They provide sanitation wipes for you though. My favorite ice cream spot in LA. Not classic ice cream at all. It's like if ice cream was extra frozen and then shaved to this fluffy, cotton like texture. It's one of my favorite textures on any foodstuff ever! I always get injeolmi, which is a soy bean (?) flavor. It adds another dry/crunchy texture I really enjoy and tones down the sweetness of the full treat. Will always be back with friends but be prepared for long lines and packed tables. No parking/clean bathrooms either :/ but lbh that's pretty typical of ktown area. Staff is working as hard as they can bc they're always so busy but they're not the most attentive. Breakfast here isn't cheap, but I will say that I always leave full and satisfied, so the portions definitely help justify the cost. I love Oakobing! I've been to many bingsu spots over the years, but Oakobing is hands-down my favorite. The quality, flavors, and experience are consistently great. FOOD (10/10): What sets Oakobing apart is their shaved ice. It's not the typical fluffy or grainy texture you might find at other places (like a finer snow cone). Instead, the ice here is shaved into delicate sheets, creating a much smoother, softer mouthfeel. I personally love this texture more, as it feels more luxurious and melts beautifully. Also, a huge bonus: their ice is flavored! Most bingsu places use plain ice and rely on the toppings for flavor, but at Oakobing, the ice itself adds to the overall taste. They offer both regular and single sizes, which I appreciate. The single size is perfect if you want to try multiple flavors. My go-to flavors are matcha, mango melon, strawberry, and mango (seasonal). I always add extra mochi on the side, highly recommend! SERVICE (9/10): It's usually very busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. That said, once you place your order (via their self-service kiosks), it typically comes out pretty fast. The process is smooth, and staff are efficient. AMBIANCE (7/10): It can get quite loud when it's busy, and seating is limited, so you kind of have to hover and grab a spot as soon as one opens up. We got the mango melon and strawberry bingsu. We felt like oakobing has thought about everything I wanted and made it a reality. Size- i loved that they serve a share size and a single serve size. I always felt other places had a regular size bowl that was too big and could only eat if someone else was with you. When I craved it by myself, it would be too much to for a single person to eat. But at Oakobing, the option of getting a big size or the perfect size for a single person was the first thing that I loved about this place. Flavor- Never over powering and a great balance of sweetness. The mango melon would have been too sweet if it was just melon but the mango was the perfect pair. (Don't forget the condensed milk if you LOVE sweets) It's so easy to make any strawberry flavored item taste artificial but this strawberry bingsu really tasted like strawberries and a good surprise. Mochi- usually an afterthought.. but this place serves it as a perfect addition to the bingsu. It wasn't too hard or too soft but the perfect texture and compliments the bingsu! Decoration- I hate it when what you see on TV commercials and menus are different than the actual item that arrives at your table (talking about you McDonalds). After all, you eat with your eyes first. But the esthetics at Oakobing made me want it more and really appreciate the effort that goes into every bingsu. We opted for the strawberry waffle bingsoo priced at $8, which is perfect for sharing between two people. They also offer a larger size, catering to bigger groups, which is a nice. The shaved ice here is slightly creamier than that of Sul & Bean's. I'd rate it a 7 out of 10 for its unique taste. While the space is rather small, we were fortunate to find a spot as someone was leaving when we finished placing our order. I noticed they offer smoothies as well, but we were already too full from the shaved ice to try them. Additionally, they provide free water, which is a thoughtful gesture. I stumbled upon this place since it is located in my neighborhood, and wanted to try something sweet with my mom and two year old son. Well I'm just really surprised how they are rated so high here on yelp (and normally I don't check or write reviews) but the cafe was noticeably unsanitary including the free water fountain, counter/cashier area, food prep area; the entire place just seemed like it wasn't ever wiped down or cleaned in ages. From outside though this place looked so clean and upscale, I wanted to give it a try. No wonder when I was there, the only customers were high school teenagers who seemed to have the whole place to themselves. We just ordered the melon ice flakes to go which was $12 (plus $2 for parking even though I was there literally for 7 minutes). Luckily I didn't have to drive far, but i'm not sure how a plastic bag with some ice cubes would keep it cold on a hot day like yesterday. read more

I was curious when I was researching for a sweet ice dessert shop in LA and Oakobing came to high on the list. We made a special trip to Oakobing and I believe it was worthy of my trip. Place is cute, menu is pretty big, lots choices. We picked couple of flavors one macha shaved ice and strawberry shaved ice. It came with super sweet and fresh strawberry on topping and they put strawberry sauce on the side. The ice itself is already rich enough, but since I have a sweet teeth, it's even better with it. The flavored ice was melting in my mouth, the weather was so cold but still can't stop me from eating it. Portion was big and price is so cheap compare to any other dessert place In LA. Highly recommended, will have to go back again soon. read more

If you don't know what to do, you can go to the Yelp website, specify your city or neighborhood, and you will find one of the best restaurants. I went to Oakobing and they brought me the menu, let me see what's available. It's better to sit outside, it's too hot inside now and I immediately ran outside. I ordered the mango melon bingsu which tasted crazy. But since the menu was big, I wanted anything. take it again, and I noticed Oreo Tiramisu, when I read about Oreo, I immediately ordered it, I really like it. Pieces of oreos make tiramisu even more delicious, it's very sweet and very appetizing. The bill was a lot, I couldn't imagine, I'm one of those people who don't look at the price, but this time I paid a little too much without looking, but nothing important, they served me a very delicious meal with 2 desserts. read more

We got the black sesame shaved ice and I couldn't stop eating even though I was full. The milky flavored shaved ice is similar to vanilla and the red bean/ mochi sides we're solid additions. We also got the injeolmi croissant and I didn't know what it was but this pastry is insane and would definitely recommend.
