Always a great place to pick up some Happy Ice. When in town my kids love walking down Melrose. And this is one of the must stop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is cute and friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Happy Ice has great taste and flavors. Parking is street but make sure you read the signs.

What We Ordered: -Rainbow Rocket (Kids Size) $6.00 -Summer Time (Regular) $8.00 Finally made it! I promised my son all summer we would come here. We visited after the Tesla Diner (terrible, btw). I was terribly indecisive because everything looked so good. The staff member was very helpful and let me try a few flavors. I really wanted the Bomb Pop, but my wife insisted I get Summer Time. As soon as I got it, she changed her mind about eating it.. So I was stuck with a large portion! The Rainbow Rocket had all the flavors mixed together. It was beautiful and tasty! Summer Time had Mango Tango, Sweet Watermelon, and Strawberry Lemonade. We will definitely be back! The regular size was a bit much for me, especially after lunch. I'll probably get the kids size next time if I'm eating alone.

After trying Happy Ice at Coachella I knew I had to come stop by the shop. This is such a special family owned spot that 100% deserves the hype. They have amazing customer service and you can tell the staff truly cares. The ice is unlike any other kind of shaved ice dessert I've had before. It's somehow creamy and smooth. The fruit flavors are so yummy and taste natural. If I could give over 5 stars I would because Happy Ice made me very happy:)

I've had this place saved for a long while and thankfully they were in my area with their truck. I had the Rainbow Rocket which reminds me of a rainbow sorbet flavor which I like a lot!! I love they have a kid size too!

Nothing like Happy Ice on a hot day! I have to visit them everytime I'm in Los Angeles! Super refreshing! Staff is nice & patient!

The dairy vanilla mixed with the tart Ice is absolutely delightful. For my friends that don't do dairy the ability to have a non-dairy vanilla mixed is a perfect balance. We haven't been inside this place but we've ordered it delivered about six times in the past five months it's turned into our new addiction. Every flavor is so good but All-star and Founder are our go-tos! If you have t tried it you're missing out.

Happy Ice has been consistently amazing every time I've gone. The flavors they offer are awesome and my favorite is the All Star flavor. I look forward to their ice cream every time I go

Besides the franchise Rita's, which there aren't many in LA, there aren't really that many places you can find water ice treats in this area. I love the flavors they offer, and the combo flavors they have if you can't make up your mind. This is amazingly refreshing during the hot summer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The spot is small, but it's in a cool part of LA for tourists.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fantastic customer service great ice great place. We were warmly greeted and given generous portions. Ray was amazing and definitely should be given employee of the month and if they don't award that they should make one just for him. The cashier was very accommodating for my larger party asking for samples. Could not recommend more!!

I had to go try the strawberry shortcake and it was so good cant wait to go again. As always the service was amazing.

Very poor service and completely standoffish service wanted to cancel my order. I ordered the Dole Whip and they didn't have certain things. The guy at the register was very unprofessional, no customer service whatsoever. Very transactional! The team members behind him were just talking not engaging with guest. They were just laughing as he struggled to communicate they were close to being out of vanilla ice. They definitely need better leadership. The product is so good but I don't see myself coming back.

Really good! And very refreshing. I got cherry & strawberry mix and it very flavorful without being too sweet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was no trash in there so I wasn't sure where to put my trash when we finished so I took it with me[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] our total was $8 for a small one plus tip. Would definitely come back and explore more flavors

Ask the Community - Happy Ice

Does Happy Ice take cash or are they card only?

    Card only.

What are the truck locations? I don't see them on the website.

Where is it usually set up?

There's an actual store front on Melrose, follow their IG for truck locations.

    Is the soft serve vegan?

    Yes :)

Is Happy Ice Keto friendly, I'm really hoping you say yes 🤞🏾?

Sadly not at all. I'm from just outside Philly and it's basically sugar water. I'm on the Keto bus too and frozen raspberries with stevia have been my best friend. Best wishes finding some treats.

Does any of their products contain any soy? I really wanna try it but I have food allergies ☹️

No, but some of their products include oat milk.

    How is the parking?

Street parking. We have gone close to closing and we easily found parking. On Melrose or right passed the building on side street. Enjoy !

The place is super small and no line, but the flavors were plentiful. I forget what they do, but you can get a combo of flavors in a single scoop. Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.

The line was longer than I've ever seen it wrapping around outside. I saw so many young people in cosplay, possibly characters for an anime I'm not familiar with. Look at the photos and see if you recognize it. A character might be called Silverwolf? Anyway, I was so happy to see Somisomi so busy. My friend and I stayed in line for 20 minutes before we were able to place our order, we had only 10 minutes to spare before our tickets at the Aratani Theatre. We wanted to have the milk and 8-bit boysenberry swirl soft serve in a cup. Unfortunately, we realized that we had to decide between possibly not being led into our reserved seat at the theater or missing out on this delicious dessert. It was just a matter of not realizing how long it would take. I don't blame Somisomi because they had a huge number of ahbong to make fresh, and of course, there was no way to cut in line We ended up telling the lovely staff that we had to leave, and to please give our orders under "Coco" to someone for free so it wouldn't be wasted. I'm sure it would've been tart and delicious!! The staff were working hard and very patient. They sometimes had to call names three times to get a response for adding toppings. If you go there and it's crowded, please be patient and also please be ready to go up to claim your order right away for the sake of the waiting hungry crowd ;)!
