Always a great place to pick up some Happy Ice. When in town my kids love walking down Melrose. And this is one of the must stop. Place is cute and friendly staff. Happy Ice has great taste and flavors. Parking is street but make sure you read the signs.

First time visiting Happy Ice in person, I used to catch them at the food trucks and it did not disappoint! I ordered the banana pudding, which is a perfect hybrid of water ice and ice cream. It was creamy, refreshing, and full of flavor without being too heavy. Service was fast and friendly, even with a steady flow of customers. Street parking was available, surprisingly easy to find even though it's on a busy street. Definitely happy I finally stopped by the storefront, I'll be back to try more flavors!

What We Ordered: -Rainbow Rocket (Kids Size) $6.00 -Summer Time (Regular) $8.00 Finally made it! I promised my son all summer we would come here. We visited after the Tesla Diner (terrible, btw). I was terribly indecisive because everything looked so good. The staff member was very helpful and let me try a few flavors. I really wanted the Bomb Pop, but my wife insisted I get Summer Time. As soon as I got it, she changed her mind about eating it.. So I was stuck with a large portion! The Rainbow Rocket had all the flavors mixed together. It was beautiful and tasty! Summer Time had Mango Tango, Sweet Watermelon, and Strawberry Lemonade. We will definitely be back! The regular size was a bit much for me, especially after lunch. I'll probably get the kids size next time if I'm eating alone.

After trying Happy Ice at Coachella I knew I had to come stop by the shop. This is such a special family owned spot that 100% deserves the hype. They have amazing customer service and you can tell the staff truly cares. The ice is unlike any other kind of shaved ice dessert I've had before. It's somehow creamy and smooth. The fruit flavors are so yummy and taste natural. If I could give over 5 stars I would because Happy Ice made me very happy:)

I've had this place saved for a long while and thankfully they were in my area with their truck. I had the Rainbow Rocket which reminds me of a rainbow sorbet flavor which I like a lot!! I love they have a kid size too!

So tasty!! I love the flavor and texture of this ice it's really nice I definitely would recommend this place for a refreshing sweet treat!

The dairy vanilla mixed with the tart Ice is absolutely delightful. For my friends that don't do dairy the ability to have a non-dairy vanilla mixed is a perfect balance. We haven't been inside this place but we've ordered it delivered about six times in the past five months it's turned into our new addiction. Every flavor is so good but All-star and Founder are our go-tos! If you have t tried it you're missing out.

Besides the franchise Rita's, which there aren't many in LA, there aren't really that many places you can find water ice treats in this area. I love the flavors they offer, and the combo flavors they have if you can't make up your mind. This is amazingly refreshing during the hot summer. The spot is small, but it's in a cool part of LA for tourists.

Fantastic customer service great ice great place. We were warmly greeted and given generous portions. Ray was amazing and definitely should be given employee of the month and if they don't award that they should make one just for him. The cashier was very accommodating for my larger party asking for samples. Could not recommend more!!

Nothing like Happy Ice on a hot day! I have to visit them everytime I'm in Los Angeles! Super refreshing! Staff is nice & patient!

Happy Ice has been consistently amazing every time I've gone. The flavors they offer are awesome and my favorite is the All Star flavor. I look forward to their ice cream every time I go

Really good! And very refreshing. I got cherry & strawberry mix and it very flavorful without being too sweet. There was no trash in there so I wasn't sure where to put my trash when we finished so I took it with me our total was $8 for a small one plus tip. Would definitely come back and explore more flavors

The person behind the counter, I forgot to ask his name...was so friendly! He was patient and easily approachable. He asked how we heard about Happy Ice, I told him I was following them for a while but never got a chance to try until they became a brick and mortar. The store was clean. No trash on the floor, the tables were not sticky. There are no trash cans. They will take your trash for you. We got a total of 4 flavors. Sweet Watermelon Strawberry Lemonade All Star Cheery Bomb w/ soft Stack Soft Stack is the "custard" on the bottom of the cup and on top vs Soft Top is only on top. I wish I read that the custard was made from oat milk. I'm not an oak milk person so it actually ruined it a bit for me. I want to say hands down the All Star was the best. I should have had the pineapple/cherry one. I think it's call time machine, I don't remember but I'm sure it's the same as the Big Sticks from the ice cream trucks. Overall I think it was a fun experience and had great photo opportunities for my kids. Especially since we came dressed in our Tet (Chinese New Year) attire (Ao Dai). I had great pictures! Would I go back yes, for the other flavors!

This is not water ice. Sorry. It's just not the right consistency. It is swirled. Served in the wrong vessel. It's just all wrong.

Ask the Community - Happy Ice

Does Happy Ice take cash or are they card only?

    Card only.

What are the truck locations? I don't see them on the website.

Where is it usually set up?

There's an actual store front on Melrose, follow their IG for truck locations.

    Is the soft serve vegan?

    Yes :)

Is Happy Ice Keto friendly, I'm really hoping you say yes 🤞🏾?

Sadly not at all. I'm from just outside Philly and it's basically sugar water. I'm on the Keto bus too and frozen raspberries with stevia have been my best friend. Best wishes finding some treats.

Does any of their products contain any soy? I really wanna try it but I have food allergies ☹️

No, but some of their products include oat milk.

    How is the parking?

Street parking. We have gone close to closing and we easily found parking. On Melrose or right passed the building on side street. Enjoy !

While we were looking at the website beforehand, she spotted McConnell's Fine Ice Creams and immediately locked onto it. So the moment we arrived, we went searching for it. When she saw the case full of flavors, she lit up. McConnell's has a great selection, and she loved that you can get your ice cream in a cone, a cup, or her personal favorite; a cup with a cone on top. She chose a small cup of Sprinkle Cake with a sugar cone, and she was over the moon. The team working there was incredibly kind and patient with her, which made the experience even better. She took one bite and said the ice cream was "wicked good." She's officially a fan. McConnell's made her day, and that alone makes it worth the stop.

Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.
