They served a four-year-old little girl biscuits and gravy with a NAIL in it and then tried to make the family pay for her food with only an employee discount, and treated them terribly when questioned as to how they could possibly charge someone for a meal with a NAIL in it served to a child. read more

TL;DR: Food was ok, we found a nail in a dish, owner/manager was an unprofessional jerk about. Wouldn't recommend. This was among the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. It became evident by the end why, but if we hadn't been there with kids who needed to eat, we would have left without eating. To start, we had a big-ish party: 4 adults, 4 kids under 9, and we're in town for a short fall vacation. When we sat down, the table wasn't set, no biggie, but we didn't receive silverware until after our food was delivered. We also didn't receive napkins until then, and when we did, they weren't folded, just grabbed from the box and piled on our table . The service was slow, and our server seemed very disinterested in our table. In her defense, she was clearly overwhelmed as she looked to be the only server handling at least 5 tables if not the whole dining room. We placed our order, which included an order of biscuits and gravy. I think the make this dish to order because it took a while, but when it came out most of the food was good. However, the biscuits and gravy had a NAIL in it - I've worked in restaurants before, I understand how these things happen, but we only found it because the 5 year old who ordered it didn't want the green onion garnish. We asked for a new order of B&G which took 30 minutes. The whole table had finished our food before the new B&G came out. And when the server brought the check teir was a perfunctory apology and a 50% comp on JUST the B&G. We asked if that was right, not even comping the full order, and then realized that the server had used an employee food discount to discount the order. We asked to speak to a manager (note we had to ask for this, the only person we had interacted with to this point despite finding a nail in our food was our server), and a guy who I had initially presumed was a maintenance person based on how he was dressed and presented himself came over and argued with us, saying about the food, "Well she's eating the new order. And there's nothing in the kitchen that would have fallen into the food. What do you think we should do?" I said, as a person who's worked in food service for several years and run restaurants, I would have at least comped the full ticket if not the full table. So after arguing with us, somehow insinuating it was our fault the nail fell in a five-year-olds food, then playing dumb like he didn't know how to handle a situation like this like a normal food service manager, he reluctantly agreed to comp the dish. It was clear that the manager is an awful person to work with and the servers seem very unhappy, as the server was trying to help by using her own discount instead of asking the manager to do what he was supposed to do. The whole thing was absurd. The food was good, but I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

WOW. The biscuits for Biscuits and Sausage Gravy are made from scratch!! The sausage gravy is a smooth blend of the milk gravy with so much tasty sausage. It's accompanied by two eggs and toast, your choices. The best we've ever eaten--The biscuits were a beautiful brown outside and tender fluffy inside. The Lox Scramble was a delight too. The Lox was plentiful, and with a lovely smoky flavour balanced by the spinach in the scramble. This dish came with a huge portion of quartered fresh potaotes and toast. If you want to eat hearty with really hand made wonderful food, go to the Oak Eatery next to Driers. In fact, go to Driers and buy some 1/4 lb. hot dogs or bologna to take home. My only wish for Oak eatery: that they'd have a dish featuring Driers meats. They have a very extensive menu, with many dishes.. but wish at least one restaurant would feature Driers' with one ! Wake up to an excellent breakfast! Small, simple interior that packs great flavors into their breakfast menu. The orange juice is fresh squeezed which will be obvious as soon as you take a sip. The egg menu is large, the griddle menu is small, but offers the ability to customize any item with a variety of fruits. (Could probably expand this section a bit, and lose some egg items with similar flavor profiles) They also have things like breakfast sandwiches and bagels w/lox. My kids enjoyed homemade, fluffy buttermilk pancakes and meaty bacon. With REAL maple syrup. I had the huevos rancheros that came with not-too-spicy ranchero sauce, fresh guacamole, beans topped with queso fresco, and sliced green onions. Just the right size. The sweet potato waffle is also delicious: crispy outside, soft and chewy inside. Friendly service, positive atmosphere. Also, bonus points for the cool art on the walls. They know how to please both vacationers and locals alike. I'm glad we went when we did! By 10:00 there was a line out the door. Specials are posted clearly on the front board. Have been here several times over the years. We got seated right away which was great because there's sometimes a wait. Perhaps because it's Monday...kids in school. Normally i the Huevos Rancheros but today for the first time we tried the Sweet Potato waffle. GF isn't my go to, but this almond flour waffle with fruit, syrup, was absolutely delicious. This has become our go-to place for breakfast, no disrespect to Froenlich's intended. Wide variety of offerings though eggs feature prominently, which is normally a problem for an egg hater like me. But the Oaks offers French toast, regular pancakes as well as Swedish pancakes, all of which are excellent. My wife's favorite is the sweet potato hash dish which comes with 2 eggs and toast. Service is prompt and friendly. Coffee is good and they will not let your mug go dry. Highly recommended! read more

Oaks Eatery was right below the house that we rented for a weekend in Three Oaks, Mi. We came here on a Sunday around 9am and there were a couple of tables occupied. They had an outdoor seating area but it was a windy and cold autumn morning so we stayed inside. The hostess was very personable and efficient, she was constantly filling our coffee mugs and checking if everything met our expectations. The interior was simple, neat and well kept. We've had: STEAK & EGGS- cooked and seasoned perfectly. PANCAKES = HEAVEN! I loved, loved their pancakes. They were fluffy, and tasted exactly how I like my pancakes to be. JALAPEÑO SAUSAGE OMELETTE- Excellent. The sausage had a great kick and everything in the omelette came together so well. BACON- Oh so good! They were thick, meaty and fried just right. POTATOES- Delicious. I really enjoyed everything that I have tried here and to top it off, the service was great too. I'm glad that we tried this place out, not just because it was in a convenient location for us, but they do make good food and offer outstanding service as well. If I could give 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat as this place is truly an amazing gem! We were vacationing again in New Buffalo and wanted to branch out to a different place for breakfast. Thanks to yelp, we found Oaks Eatery in a nearby town, which at the time of this review had a full 5-star rating with 80 reviews. We now know exactly why -- we enjoyed our first meal so much we returned two days later for another! Over our two meals we enjoyed: breakfast tacos, breakfast burrito, bagel & lox, grilled cheddar cakes (off the specials menu and so yummy), and sides of breakfast potatoes and one pancake (you MUST try one). I also want to mention how delicious and fresh their homemade salsa was on the tacos and burrito -- it's also good for dipping breakfast potatoes in! We recently saw an article online about the best breakfast spots is every state. Oaks Eatery in Three Oaks made the list. They are also on yelps top 100 spots for breakfast and brunch. We had to check it out. It was really good. We asked for extra crispy bacon and it was exactly that. The breakfast tacos could have been a little warmer but they were fantastic still. The breakfast potatoes were seasoned well and also very good. I had the fresh squeezed orange juice and it also was very good. Service was fast and the server was friendly. We definitely will go back to try different items they have on the menu. read more

3 years later and this is still my favorite place to get breakfast and I'm STILL eating the jalapeño/sausage omelet nearly every time because it's just too dang good!!! The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered a special which was a crust less quiche. It had spinach and chicken sausage, cheese, and probably more veggies I can't remember! It was a pretty large piece served alongside potatoes. The potatoes were lacking a little salt in my opinion, but crispy and good nonetheless. I give only 4 stars because of the service. I met some friends here and some had already eaten. They left and the rest of us stayed. I scooted into the table and moved their dirty dishes over to clear a spot for myself. Not once did a server, busboy, or anyone come to clear the dirty dishes. Even when my food was brought out they didn't clear the table! I also had to ask twice for silverware. I know I came to the table later, but the server clearly took my order and knew I would be eating. I had to ask a few times for coffee, and never got a refill on my water. I ordered the breakfast tacos. Amount of food the order was it enough to share. The chorizo the avocado the green and red sauce what isn't to love! The side of breakfast potatoes where amazing as well. Why brag about potatoes because they're worth it. One co-worker wanted lox and bagel. To quote him this is the best thing I've ever had to eat. My other co-worker ordered a simple ham and cheese omelet. Again the portion size in flavor of his breakfast was superior. We have very happy tummies and will be back to try more!
