My first time at this quaint but upscale store. What a cute store! Delicious sandwiches, wine, sodas, etc. Coffee bar. Dessert area. Great to grab picnic items for any reason. I picked up a sandwich and a few things for my drive to the airport. I had plenty of time so I stopped by a winery for the shade and scenery, ate 1/2 my sandwich, it was big. Unfortunately I couldn't take it home. I normally don't order a pastrami sandwich but it was one of the specials of the day and I was not disappointed. The only thing lacking is friendly service. Loved this place! What a genuinely cool spot! We popped into Oakville Grocery on our drive home after wine tasting and this is the absolute perfect spot for just that. Though it was the early afternoon, I decided to have the breakfast sandwich with mozzarella, egg and tomato on a model bakery English muffin and it was divine. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their sandwiches as well, and the store has so many cool offerings. It's an order at the counter and seat yourself kind of place so service was fine as the staff was friendly. I don't love that you only have the option to sit outside as it was a bit cold which made the experience a bit less enjoyable - they should definitely add some indoor seating. Don't know the history of this place but while on the Napa wine train the day before, the waiter had mentioned this Oakville grocery so we decided to stop by while driving on highway 12 and passing various wineries. The grocery entrance faces the highway and it is there where you would order food, get snacks and other nick nacks. Decided to get the pepperoni pizza and broccoli salad. They give you a pager and you can pick it up outside where the tables and chairs are at. The pizza is cooked outside on a wood fire grill. We enjoyed the pizza ... lots of pepperonis, mozzarella and a light tomato sauce. Wife liked her broccoli salad. My only gripe is there are hella flies both inside the grocery store (one kept on being near me while waiting to order). When we were sitting outside and eating our pizza. I had to keep a watch on making sure the flies didn't land on our food! Considering there were so many both inside and outside, they should have invested in a few electric fly buzz machines to decrease their population. For this I can only give 4 stars since flies is a pet peeve of mine . read more

This was such a fun spot! We needed a quick sandwich between tastings so we stopped here. It was hard to pick as they had a ton of really great options, but I ended getting the chicken salad, which was chock full of chicken and really creamy from the sauce. The bread came on was perfectly chewy on the outside and soft in the middle. They had some truffle chips that we shared, which was a fun addition and different than the typical potato chip you see with sandwiches. The grocery selection was extensive and they had a good mix of meats and cheeses. If we were going to have a picnic, this would be the exact place I would go. They even had a bunch of homemade cheese spreads and packaged foods perfect for grab and go. Their wine selection seemed really great and even had a rosé from a vineyard were were hoping to get it, but they were out of stock at the actual winery so it felt like we hit the jackpot when we saw it there. You could also buy tastings and they had self-serve tasting spots all around their property. We loved this place so much we went back for breakfast a few days later for breakfast! Stella and Sophia at the coffee bar were amazing. They were super friendly and even though we came in to closing, they had the best attitudes. The coffee is always good and made consistently. Their lemon bars are also one of our favorite bakery items! Their 7 wonders bar is unique and gives a fun spin on the "under the sink" cookie but in bar form. The cheese and meat selection is vast. We love being able to curate our own little charcuterie picnic before heading up to wineries. Usually there is always someone behind the counter that is super knowledgeable and gives us great recommendations. While in Napa Valley we stopped by to check this grocery out, it's a specialty food store that carries variety of cheese, crackers, jams, oils, jams, wine and more and more items. Gift items such as cheese boards, aprons, bags etc are also available. The smell of freshly baked cookies were killing me so I had to buy one right away and started my shopping. I purchased a jam, olive oil, towels, olives and a small wooden board. It's a lovely place to shop while in the area. They also have a coffee bar and a wine tasting area. Lovely .... This spot is a gourmet grocer and deli and they have every single snack you could ever think of. They also have a full deli counter and many items to order to go. When in the area, this is a "must stop" landmark destination. Inside is a flurry of activity with lots of customers shopping for deli items, sandwiches, coffee, and draft beer. Needless to say, this place has an extensive wine selection, including a wine vault and a tasting cave. Inside the tasting cave is a row of enotecs with 20 wines available to sample. There's also many products made in the local area, a coffee bar, fresh made cookies, t-shirts and many other things. They do have lots of outdoor seating where you can enjoy your glass of wine or beer along with your fresh made deli item. If you want to sample even more wine, the Oakville Wine Merchant next-door has even more Enotecs. There's much more to see and do here than I can possibly put down so check out the photos. Parking can be a problem on a busy day since there's only around 50 spots available (you would think that would be enough). Oakville Grocery is a Napa gem! Apparently it's the oldest continually operating grocery store in California, and I do love some California history. They offer bakery items, deli style food, gourmet grocery/pantry items, and lots & lots of wine! We stopped for a casual lunch on our way to a wine tasting, and it was the perfect choice. We enjoyed a BLTA deli sandwich and a small serving of Greek salad under an umbrella on the patio. There was ice water available in a self-serve dispenser. There's no inside seating, so finding shade was imperative on this particularly warm day. We walked through the Oakville Wine Merchant next door, and this two story library of wine with an ornate chandelier was pretty neat to see. They have a wall of self-serve wine... you can pick "tastes" or full glasses. We didn't stay for that, but it looked kind of fun. A lot of Napa is really boujee, there's a "quiet luxury" vibe that can be intimidating to outsiders. Aside from the price tag (i.e. $20 deli sandwich) Oakville Grocery felt comfortable and welcoming to all, which I appreciated. The food was really good, too! read more

I loved this little roadside stop in the Napa valley. First thing to know is that it'll come up fast on the side of the road and it can be a bit hairy getting in and out. Parking isn't in abundance so you might be squeezing into a tight spot or need to look nearby for someplace to land. We were lucky and got a spot but it was a bit of a squeeze in our big SUV, and it was one of the last few spots left right around lunch. Once you park, and are situated, you'll find yourself in a super charming historic area, with views of vineyards, and picnic tables for a casual dining experience. The actual grocery is small, chock full of charm, and has really great sandwiches on the menu. Best sandwich ever? No, but definitely one worth the price, and full of flavor. The lines here are long, but the folks working were kind, and I really enjoyed taking in all of the high end cheeses and olive oil for sale in the shop. If I had more time in the area I think I'd come back here to create a killer charcuterie board. Bonus: across the open air seating area you'll find a little wine shop and museum. It's hustle and bustle in there and a great spot for snacks, pizza, sandwiches and wine along the great path of all the amazing wineries. Love Oakville Grocery! What a fun alternative to visiting a winery. They have a ton of great picnic foods and snacks like made to order sandwiches. You can eat at a picnic table, pack a picnic to go or visit their small wine tasting room. The only thing I didn't totally love was the wine tasting experience. They use these wine "vending machines" where you have to prepay a card and swipe the card for every glass. Definitely overpriced and I think the machine swiped our card even though the wine was out costing my friends and I a tasting :( just be careful! read more
