Stopped by to try the vegan pizza when I was in the area. It was good, but it can be improved considering it costs $22 for a large pie with spinach. Although the crust was crispy, it was too thin for my preference. Maybe its a central Jersey thing, but growing up in NY I prefer it to be a bit thicker to be chewier. Secondly, by charging extra for the vegan cheese at least fill up the entire pie with it, the way Tata's does in New Brunswick. I think they use the same brand, Teese. And lastly, saute the spinach with quality olive oil and garlic. The raw spinach on my pizza was wilted and dried up when baked, therefore there was no texture nor taste. Visited on a Saturday and was excellent! We had the buffalo chicken slices they were fresh and amazing! My wife had the white pizza and I had pepperoni and sausage slices very good and fresh. Fast friendly service, and was very clean. We will make this a regular stop when nearby! read more

In an attempt to make up for their subpar food and lousy service staff.. This place is in the habit of attempting to bully people who give them less than positive reviews. They go as far as sending personal messages on social media threatening and harassing individuals on a personal level. On a business level, this is disgraceful. Obviously social media reviews can either be your best friend or worst enemy. And I get that an adverse review can have a very negative impact on a business. And, the truth hurts sometimes, but rather than using it as constructive criticism to consider and help them to make necessary improvements. The quality of their food and/or service is actually irrelevant here. Conducting themselves in this manner is not okay!! Oakwood Pizza was a reliable standby when I worked on Thornall St., and I returned last week for lunch with a friend. Always crowded during lunch hours, little had changed. The storefront is deep, with the counter and kitchen at the back. Service can be unpredictably fast or slow, with the stragglers brought to your table when they are ready. The décor is pretty typical of a larger NJ pizzeria, with booth seating being predominant. Service is generally friendly, although the server completely blew-off a simple question from my friend (he's a regular here). I remember the hot parmesan, meatball and sausage sandwiches and platters being good (not great), with plenty of cheese but a fairly pedestrian sauce (a/k/a, "gravy"). Portions were, however, huge. Cold subs were above average. Our mission on Wednesday, however, were a few of the reheated slices-- there is a decent variety to choose from. Again, abundant cheese and lots of fairly bland sauce. You'll need the shakers of oregano, garlic powder and red pepper flakes to introduce the missing flavor. Unfortunately, they were nowhere to be found. Although I'm quite particular about pizzeria pizza, I've never been disappointed by Oakwood, but also, have never been "wowed." Reheated slices heavy with sauce are destined to be soggy; such are the laws of nature. I remember a decent crust on some of the deliveries to my office. We order this pizza at work when we host new hire training, so this review is in response to their catering department. The pizza is delicious. Two brothers own two restaurants in Woodbridge, one brother owns Pino's and the other brother owns Oakwood. We do Pinos for italian food like subs or entrees and Oakwood for pizza. The brothers definitely have their forte. The salad dressing that comes with the garden salad is very good. It's like a balsamic vinegarette, and I have always been a big fan. The buffalo chicken pizza is good - it's cheese, chicken, hot sauce, and bleu cheese dressing - no red sauce. It was my favorite until we found out about the ranch pizza - cheese, tomato, spinach, and ranch dressing. Sometimes we add bacon to it. It's always a big hit. The delivery is always right on time, and the drivers all bring the food up and help us unload. In all, it's a great place to eat. read more

In our never ending quest to find a good sicilian pizza in our new neighborhood, we tried out Oakwood Pizza & Subs. In addition to the sicilian, I ordered the Buffalo Chicken pizza which had a lot of great reviews on Yelp and a romaine salad. The romaine salad was EXCELLENT. I loved the balsamic dressing and the peppers, mozzarella, and olives were so tasty! The Buffalo Chicken pizza was delicious. It was beautifully presented as well with swirls of both buffalo wing sauce and blue cheese sauce. As far as the sicilian goes, it was the best we've found so far in the area. Not quite as good as what we're used to in Bayonne but not too bad. The menu was nice and had a lot of options. I can't wait to try some different dishes at Oakwood Pizza! read more

Oakwood Pizza has always been my family's go-to pizzeria for more than a decade. We always get their "The Works" pizza (pepperoni, sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms). They are very generous with the toppings and they always seem fresh. I particularly love that their mushrooms are fresh (I hate when pizzerias use mushrooms from a jar) and that their onions are sweet. Their crust is a little on the softer, gummier side. This was a solid 3.5 almost a 4. The sauce was a bit sweet, but i like that. I also enjoyed the cheese and how well it was done. The only problem, kind of a big problem was the crust. It was very very chewy. I like chewy but this was at points hard to eat. My brother said that the last time he ordered it it was perfect and he wasn't sure what happened this time with the crust. Why go to Burger King in the same lot when you can eat at Oakwood Pizza? I went in for a quick lunch today and ended up opting for a small garden salad. For $4.95, I got more toppings than you'd normally get at some sit down restaurants. The salad was fresh and crisp topped with generous potions of green and black olives, onions, carrots and cucumbers. Excellent balsamic dressing as well (hope you have breath mints or gum though!). When I first started working in Edison, my co-workers always raved about this place, particularly the buffalo chicken pizza. Naturally, they bought me here during a lunch break for my first time I was impressed! Their buffalo chicken pizza did live up to hype I was always hearing about. The only thing I would disagree about is that buffalo chicken pizza does not taste better when it is cold (as my other co-worker swears by it). Consistently great pizza! I usually get it by the slice and eat it in store when it's hot out of the oven. The crust is crispy and can hold it's own without being hard and cracker-like. As an Indian girl raised in North Edison her whole life, I have seen the demise of good pizza places in this area. Oak Tree has turned into a market for Indian shops and restaurants (of course which are totally enjoyed and welcome!) But that in turn has driven out many of our favorite non-Indian establishments. So I just want to say Thank God for Oakwood Pizza! They have been around forever, and after one of my favorite places (Piancone's) closed down a few years ago, I "discovered" Oak Wood Pizza. Their crust is thin, their cheese is flavorful, and they make one hell of an Eggplant Rotini. I called today and was surprised to find out that they deliver too!
