I should have expected since it wasn't directly with the desserts. Now I know better. The taro bun was a little disappointing. I think it wasn't very flavorful. The bun was not soft and was a little too firm. It used to be pretty good. Last time I went, they didn't refill any of the dishes and there was only a little bit left in a lot of the trays. I'm not a buffet person but since hubby wanted sushi and I wanted dim sum for lunch we decided to try this place. The price is $13.99 for lunch Monday through Friday, which is such a great price. They also give you a 10 percent discount for military or senior citizen! Because the price was so low I really didn't expect much. I must say, I was actually very impressed at the variety and everything looked very fresh. They had a good variety of sushi and the chef was constantly making new rolls. I tried some and it was ok. Is it the best quality? Of course not, but for the price I thought it was totally acceptable. They also have a poke bar. I was surprised to see so many different Chinese dishes- fried rice, two different kinds of noodles and every chicken dish you can think of, eggplants, bok choy, four different types of soups. I tried some shell on shrimp and it was flavorful and juicy which was a nice surprise. I also enjoyed the calamari. They also have a lot of fish dishes, mussel, sausages, clams, salad bar and so much more. The dessert bar had pastries, cakes, fruit, ice cream, and cookies. It had been years since I had an almond cookie and I enjoyed it. The service was exceptional. The staff was very prompt, friendly and cleared the dishes very quickly. If you want to try a variety of food at an exceptional price, this is the place! Just remember it is a buffet so don't expect a 5 star taste. After seven hours on the road, this is my Heaven. My husband was craving crab legs, and lo and behold, his wish was granted. Our last two wishes will be granted once we finally reach home and go into nice little food comas. The dinner buffet was pretty standard for seafood with a nice selection of sashimi, sushi, seafood, and other Asian food items. We came a little late around 8 pm, so I wouldn't say the food was fresh off the press, but it wasn't bad either. I particularly enjoyed the albacore sashimi. I didn't get a chance to try much of the crab legs because they were all gone by the time I reached the buffet, however, my husband had no complaints as he managed to get some before they ran out. He mentioned enjoying the blue crab, crawfish, Cajun shrimp boil, and clams as well as the Cajun octopus. The service is what makes this establishment so awesome. Our server Mandy was always checking in, refilling our glasses, and taking our empty plates. She was friendly and very efficient. Our host Gabe was personable and friendly with a fun story on hand and appropriate to the conversation. Bathrooms were clean, and the space overall was cozy and family friendly. We went to this restaurant earlier this week at 3 pm for lunch. The food we selected on the buffet was cold to lukewarm. That included the vegetables and the meats, with the exception of the honey chicken and the soup. Concerned, we alerted our server as we thought they might have malfunctioning steamers. About 10 minutes later, a woman came to our table and tried to explain why the food wasn't hot. It was difficult to understand her explanation, but from what we could piece together it wasn't because of faulty equipment. She kept talking about four hours....we weren't sure if she was saying it was difficult to keep the food warm for four hours (we came about four hours after they opened) or something else. We've visited this restaurant before and were satisfied with our meals, but we probably won't be returning. We don't want to reward this visit with a star but it seems that's our only option. read more

For 16$ a person, this place offers a lot of value so long as you have the tummy space for it. There is a good variety of food and while the sushi and seafood isn't omakase quality, it did not give me or my party of 6 any indigestion issues. Everything was cooked well, but like some other reviewers mentioned, some items could have been warmer. Though maybe our experience was different coming in later at 630pm. We had the crab, king crab, oysters, sashimi, sushi. The other hot dishes were decent, panda express quality. They offer some authentic dishes but it is hit or miss, some too salty such as the wonton soup. Some items seemed like they came from freezer (wontons) . All in all, for the price cheap price point, this place deserves 4 stars! Warning: With the cheap price point beings in low quality patrons that will horde king crab legs to the last piece unashamed while there's a person standing right behind them in line. I came here for lunch on a Wednesday around noon. There was some people here but maybe missed the lunch crowd. Service here was good, whenever I went up for another serving, my old plate was gone and the waitress overall was pleasant without being overbearing. The food itself was standard fare for a buffet. It played all the standard hits like teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, etc. in fact I'd say it had a pretty good spread. With that said, a decent amount of the food I grabbed tended to be more on the lukewarm side. As for the quality and taste of the food. It was pretty average, Id say it's behind Pacific buffet but it's edible. I wonder if I went during a busier time or the weekend if that would have improved. The place was clean (I previously avoided this place due to old ownership and some unsanitary things people posted here about it) and I never felt I was unsafe eating here. Overall I'd say it's average for the buffet category. Its been awhile since I have been in this area. This place used to be called Jogoya or Joya Sushi. Went for lunch which was $12.99 (see photo for current prices). This is up from my last visit when it was $9.99. Since my last visit several years ago, some things have changed other than the price. The lunch variety of sushi is less than it used to be. If you look at the current pictures and my previous pictures of the seared tuna, the quality looks not as good. Still glad that they have it but quality took a step back. They also have make your own poke bowls. For lunch, however, they do not have poke, its just spicy tuna and imitation crab salad (see photo). They have the normal hot Chinese options and desserts. I enjoyed the taro buns for dessert. For ice cream, they have cups (see photo) rather than a scooper likely for COVID reasons. Bathroom was clean, they do give plastic gloves for COVID issues. They have non-salty high grade snow crab legs. They bring out a small batch of crab legs every 5-7 minutes, but each batch has only 7-8 legs. This place is amazing! We drove here almost an hour from phoenix for dinner and the price is really cheap for AYCE buffet. It wasn't even $18 per person. They have very nice and accommodating employees. Their salmon is super fresh, and their oysters are amazing too! They have all kinds of food from salads, to sushi, to orange chickens, clams, fried chicken, etc.! My favorite dessert is their ice cream - their strawberry and green tea ice cream is very tasty! I LOVE Asian buffets, but ONLY to focus on eating crab, which here, is ONLY on Sunday, when they have both the raw oysters on half shell AND snow crab. So I went Sunday March 21. The snow crab was very good, because they did not soak the crab in water, or boil all the delicate crab flavor out into the water. Crab meat was not waterlogged like it is ruined at other buffets. However, they bring so little out and they said every 10 min, but I think it is more like every 30 min. They bring out only enough for two people, If you are not the first person standing there. I ate for 4 hours before I felt I got my money's worth on snow crab. (I don't recommend the fried blue crab half bodies, not salty enough and has ammonia flavor, meaning not fresh.) Clams were the best I ever had in a buffet, because they were almost raw. Other buffets clams are overcooked and dried in the heat, like old bubble gum. I did not try too many items my first time here, because I come only for the crab. But the squid in chilli sauce in the center section was REALLY TASTY. Jogoya does a good job cooking the seafood. Nothing here is overcooked. And they bring out small quantities, so food does not sit there in the heat to dry out. I am giving 4 stars, not 5, because you have to stand there to wait for the crab to be brought out, and it is only enough for 2-3 people, only because you are kind enough to spare some for them. Also I don't like the lighting, kinda dingy. I like to sit there and read my $2 subscription of magazines, so I want more light. And the blue crabs salt and pepper is not salty and crispy enough as I find in other Asian buffets, who all have this. Some parts of the blue crab tastes like ammonia, .... spoiled. We came on a Sunday right when they opened and we were seated right away. We are visiting from San Diego and the price of $21 per adult is very cheap compared to the buffet back home. The food was actually pretty good. There was a poke bar, lots of sushi and sashimi and a wide variety of Chinese food. My only complaint was the small selection of desserts and they only put out a little portion of snow crab legs on the tray.
