The Oasis Diner, on Quentin Rd and Flatbush Ave is a family run Greek diner that was calling my name as soon as I saw it one morning with breakfast on my mind. This place hit the spot- the server pointed me to a booth and handed me a coffee and a menu. I took my time perusimg the many options as around me a steady stream of neighborhood faces filed up and down the aisle and filled the room with their familiar exchanges like " Hey George, how's the wife?" and "'zat your car out front ? she's a beauty.." After I ordered I sat for a while, continuing my people-watching as three guys at the register discussed the Yankee's chances this season. An older woman picking up an order blessed us all as she left, and my plate landed in front of me with a "there y'go, hun. Enjoy." from a waitress who was a blur most of the time. The cheese omelette was great , the home fries were among the best I've had, and the coffee kept coming. I took my time over breakfast , savoring the atmosphere as much as the food, and as I payed at the register, I mentioned to the young guy taking the check that I'd be back again. What can I say.. They put the utmost love into every dish. I really do not see how people could not enjoy their food. Their portions are large and full of flavor. Some of my favorites include their burgers, tuna melt, buffalo chicken wraps, Greek specialties, Reuben sandwich, crab cakes, and dinner specials. I once ordered chicken cordon bleu and it was gigantic!!! Their bread and pickles and chick peas as an appetizer are also always great. Large selection of desserts. I come from Florida and we have a lot of healthier options and I found it more difficult here in a lot of restaurants, but this is the first time I saw whole wheat pancakes and they were great! Came here on a Tuesday morning and received such quick service. We sat down at a booth and almost immediately someone (boss?) came to ask what we wanted to drink and moments later a little dish of complementary mini muffins arrived. We ordered the corned beef hash with 2 eggs and home fries and the oasis special (pancakes and eggs with sausage + juice). The food here is like any diner. They only gave us the breakfast menu though, at other diners, we usually get the entire menu and can order anything at anytime so that's kind of a bummer. read more

Carb heaven. Mini-muffins on arrival and only sugar on the table. Still they had sweetener and we got a smile when we asked our waiter to take the muffins away and no toast with the eggs. Breakfast of eggs as omelets with various fillings, nice crisp bacon and plenty of coffee was exactly what we had in mind. Very disappointed. Sat down for a quick snack on my hour dinner break. They provide some coleslaw and chickpeas which is nice, typically they also have delicious warm soft bread with butter, however on this night the bread seemed to be forgotten. I kindly reminded the waiter about the bread, but a while passed and still no bread. Again, i reminded the waiter we never got bread and he almost seemed to ignore me, purposefully. By now im losing my patience. I grab the waiters attention and ask for bread, he says sorry but then NEVER Brings bread! I see another waiter and get his attention and ask for bread, guy turns around points to a different waiter, mumbles something and walks away. By this point weve already gotten our main course but its now about the principle of being a customer and being treated like dirt. Ive never been so displeased with customer service at a diner in my life. On the way out i mentioned to the manager and he gave a quick oh sorry and shrugged it off. I guess the staff takes after the management at this place.. if a manager doesn't care about his customers how can he expect the staff to? To top it off, when i went to use my napkin one side of it had already been used, the side facing up was clean the underneath had pen scribble and grease. Id ask for a new napkin but again i only had a one hour break. My advice, find another diner. read more

I frequent this place often. I've only come here from breakfast and lunch. While the food is good, the service can be spotty at times. There are some wait staff that are really professional. So I ordered from this place as I usually do in the day time but this time at night. I asked for a hamburger deluxe PLAIN I told them 4 times on the phone PLAIN. I pickup my food and when I got back to work the burger has tomatoes and lettuce.... I was mad because im paying for something the way i like it. when i take the food back the guy looks at me like im dumb and says ok ok i'll fix it... fixing it doesn't mean you complain about me coming to change your mistake! guy comes back 2 sec after with the same burger just with the tomatoes and lettuce rubbed off..... My family has lived in this area for decades. We have ordered food here enough times to have a wing named in our honor. But over the last few years the service has become horrible!!!!! The only thing that needs to happen at this diner that it is in need of renovations as the outside and inside seems very old . Which brings the ambience down a bit . I had breakfast early Saturday morning and it was ok, just ok. The waiter was pleasant but could do with some training on general rules of etiquette but overall it was a good experience and I will definitely visit again and again. I enjoyed the breakfast BUT the home fries were not exactly how I like them. There were no onions and seasonings. It was just mushy potato and some pieces were overcooked. Nevertheless, with a little ketchup it was fine. Service was a little slow but the place was packed. Absolutely the worst diner I have ever been to and I've been to some bad ones. Chicken Caesar Salad....how can you screw that up? Bunch of lettuce leaves with croutons and dressing. How hard can that be? My dog would't even eat the chicken in that salad. The dressing was so sour and the chicken was so old. The service was horrendous. Had to ask the waitress 3 times to bring honey mustard. Waited for 15 min for her to take our order then another 15 min to give us the check. I'm not sure who wrote all these raving reviews, but I have a feeling they're not very genuine. Stay away from this place. read more
