This place is awesome. The food is fabulous--very flavorful, perfectly cooked, and incredibly fresh. I hate to rate Oasis only 3 starts because in the past it definitely would have been 4-5 starts, but we were very disappointed with our dinner on Mother's Day. Previous meals here have been excellent, but last night was sub par. On the positive side: We started with one order of the Pumpkin Borani, which as always was excellent and plentiful for all 7 of us to share. The Oasis Salmon dish was tasty as usual per one of the diners. Our server did a good job considering how busy they were. On the flip side, when we received our food I was surprised by the measly amount of chicken and steak that came on my kabobs. Typically you get several generous portions of meat on the kabob, but mine seemed about half the size of the typical piece and the chicken was a bit dry and lacked the usual marinated flavor. The steak was tender, but again the pieces were small, half pieces rather than whole. I tend to take home half of my meal when I've had kabobs here in the past, but last night the only thing left was half of my potatoes. One of the couples in our party ordered the kabobs for two. They felt the same way about the portions of their meat, pretty small for paying $42. Two people in our party noticed other people's plates had larger portions of meat (when we were leaving) so maybe they were running low when we got our plates and someone ran to the grocery store for more product. Whatever the case, I hope in the future they are back up to their normal excellence. read more

The food was delicious, as always. This review is for the service. Our waitress was an older woman who just seemed like she wasn't quite suited for the job. When we arrived, she grabbed some menus but then just stood there. My husband said, "where shall we sit?" And then she looked around at all of the empty tables, confused. We picked our own table and got seated. We ordered drinks and my Prosecco came out flat. I called her over and told her that my Prosecco was flat and she just took it away without saying anything. Ok fine, maybe she's just not a talker - until I see her chatting it up with the table near us. She brings me back another glass from the same bottle ( I watched her open a screw top bottle of Prosecco and pour it it my glass), and duh, it's still flat!! (Who buys screwcap Prosecco for a restaurant anyway??) They watched us struggling to entertain our 2 kids until the food arrived but we had to ask about 10 minutes in for something for the kids to draw on and with. And then magically, they brought kids coloring pages and crayons to the table. I mean, seriously guys!? It wasn't busy at all, maybe 7 tables total for lunch on a Saturday. Pretty disappointing service, but the food was great, as it has been for the past 7 years since I've been eating here. read more

Yes I am definitely a fan of this place. Of course only reason we even went here is due to the 4 star rating here. It was sooo worth it. Took everyone's suggestion, so ordered the Pumpkin Borani which was great. The Grilled Rack of Lamb was even more delicious!! The lamb was ridiculously tender which of course I couldn't get enough of. The chicken & koobideh kabobs were also wonderful. Although I have to say the chicken was more flavorful than the grilled beef. It was lunch time so it was quite slow but nevertheless service was just perfect. This place never disappoints! I was there with friends for dinner again, and the food is always consistent, tasty, with layers of flavors. We started with the 'sampler platter' - a great way to taste a lot of different little appetizers at once. And then, I went for my usual chicken kabobs with the spicy sauce and extra veggies. We went to Oasis to celebrate a birthday. The appetizers were very good, especially the hummus. We should've stayed with ordering just those. A couple of us ordered kebabs. Nice, but the meats were all over cooked. A couple of us ordered the salmon. Nice recipe, but again, overcooked. Then there was the service. We didn't get much interaction beyond order taking and serving food. it was a pretty average experience, but considering the price, we won't go back to eat food we can make better at home. read more

My husband had been here before for dinner, and thought it was good overall, so he decided to bring me here for drinks and dessert in the lounge area last night, a Friday. At approximately 8pm, we arrived and sat for 6 mins or so before our server came to greet us. No cocktail napkins with our drinks, and the lounge area had a side of the room that was bare and appeared cold in ambience. The Lava Cake was nothing out of the ordinary. The chocolate cake was just ok, until we hit the molten chocolate filling, which was the only saving factor for this piece. Our server had a pleasant personality about her, but as the saying goes "great personality doesn't make up for bad service or food". Not sure if I would go back. read more

This is probably one of the better restaurants in the trivalley area. The food has alot of flavor and the place is very lively. I really like their 3 dips with their flatbread. I guess the flatbread is one of their signature items which they give you as a complimentary appetizer even if you don't order the dips. Ambiance: The interior is set a bit dim for a romantic feel but it was a bit offset by the above average noise level. The patio seating out front looked like a fun place to be on a warm summer night but it appeared closed that night. The decor was elegant and had a few nice fixtures and finishing details. The bathroom (the men's bathroom at least) was an absolute disaster. Coming from the dim dining room, the bathroom was extremely bright with sterile white walls. It almost hurt the eyes to transition into that space. They need to at least paint the walls maroon to match the dining room which would cut the reflectivity considerably. Service: Our waiter seemed very enthusiastic and had great energy. He maybe checked up on us too much as we confirmed everything was indeed okay about six times throughout dinner. But better that than disappearing for great lengths I suppose. Drinks: They had a decent wine list and an extensive cocktail list. Their beer list was disappointing and appeared to be an afterthought with a small selection of easily obtainable quality micros rounded out with a selection of macros. Food: We ordered the appetizer sampler which included the pumpkin borani, shrimp with creamy basil sauce over a slice of tomato, and cucumbers with hummus. Every one of them were delicious. The pumpkin had a huge note of sweetness and combined with the garlic yogurt sauce, became something I've never really tasted before. The slice of tomato was actually pretty subdued with the shrimp and sauce. The pine nuts were a great topping. The hummus had a great texture to it; it tasted more creamy and soft than some of the others I've had. I ordered the grilled lamb which was cooked to perfection but the cohesion of the dish could have been a bit better. The greens the lamb was sitting on became soggy and the mashed potatoes tasted bland. The overall quality of dinner took a severe blow with my wife's curry chicken dish with basmati rice. I'm not exactly sure what Afghan curry is supposed to taste like, but I'm pretty sure it is not supposed to taste like tomato soup. It was significantly under-flavored and uninspiring. If that really was what Afghan curry was supposed to taste like, then I think I've found my least favorite curry style and it's not even close. Value: With a post-tax, pre-tip bill of $71 for two people (one glass of wine ordered), it was a bit on the pricey side. Granted, half of my wife's entree was boxed and we were quite full after the meal. The restaurant.com gift certificate did ease the cost a bit. Conclusion: The highlights of the meal were very good but the lows were pretty disappointing. The prospect of going back for happy hour for cocktails and appetizers are enticing. read more

We have been to this restaurant 4 times in the last year and honestly would go more often because the food is delicious but the service is consistently awful and not worth going often. It's near impossible to get bread and water. They serve you 4x4 inch squares of bread in a small basket (approx 2 per person) and even if you order an appetizer that goes with the bread we have consistently had to beg for more just to finish the appetizer and it still takes forever for it to come to the table. They are definitely understaffed. You see your waiter when the order is taken and again when the food is served and that is about it until you've finished eating and your water glass has been empty for 20 minutes. This happens everytime we go and so we are going to find another place to eat Mediterranean food. It's not worth the aggravation. . read more

A group of girlfriends went to lunch here. It is located at the quiet end of the street away from the main area where there are many other restaurants. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant besides us. The salads were good and we had to try the pumpkin borani which was good too. The bolani was quite tasty. I ordered the koobideh kabob dish that came with rice. I was disappointed as the kabobs were dry and (I think) just reheated and served. This is usually my favorite dish to order at Mediterranean restaurants and definitely came short. The rice was pretty flavorless too and I asked for it to be swapped with a brown colored rice that someone else on my table had got. Much better! We also ordered some grilled chicken kabob which was moist and flavorful. Not sure I would try this place again. read more

As per all the Yelp reviews- the pumpkin appetizer is definitely a must try dish. We had reservations for two on a Saturday night. It was an enjoyable night out with great service and nice atmosphere. Busy but not uncomfortably crowded. There is a nice patio overlooking Main Street Pleasanton (although we sat inside due to the heat). The spring honey salad was a good accompaniment to the pumpkin appetizer. The food came out quickly. Went to Oasis today for lunch and it was great. We sat outside at the patio and it was perfect. I love pumpkin and had to order the pumpkin borani per the other reviews and have to say it doesn't disappoint. It's delicious. I ordered the chicken kabob's with basmati rice and it was great as well. The chicken was cooked perfectly (moist and not too dry) and the cucumber mint sauce was delish. Our service was great. There were nine of us for lunch. Our waiter was wonderful and even went the extra mile to provide us with separate checks. Everyone was very happy with their order, with the exception of one woman. She had ordered a pasta dish that turned out to be extremely spicy even though it was not listed as such on the menu. Our waiter offered to bring her another dish, but she politely refused. When her bill came, he had not charged for the meal. He insisted that she shouldn't be charged for a dinner she couldn't eat. This is a great place to eat downtown in Pleasanton. I really enjoyed the flavors of the dishes. I highly recommend the eggplant borani and I liked it a bit more than the pumpkin borani. The food was very very good. My husband and I started out with the warm flat bread and dipping sauces. All the sauces were very flavorful and ranged from mild to spicy. I had a blonde mojito and my husband had one of their beer's on tap. Before I was two sips into my mojito, our waiter said that the new bartender made the first one wrong and brought me a new one. The only thing wrong with the first one was that it was missing the pineapple juice. They let us have the first one on the house. Free mojito. Woohoo. Now on to our entrees. I had the curry shrimp which was delicious. It came served with a big helping of rice and the shrimp and curry on the side so that you could mix it the way you liked it. The shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly and the curry was not over powering. I am definitely a fan and would order this again. My husband had one of their kabob dishes for dinner and there was not a scrap left on his plate so I am guessing that he loved it. For desert we split the petite carrot cake and each had a coffee. Overall the meal was great and the service staff was very attentive. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because their rose garden patio area which looks protected from the street and secluded as advertised on their website, is literally right on the side walk and the passersby are so loud my husband and I could hardly hear each other talk. Maybe if they planted some more bushes to block out the sound of the pedestrians and cars, this would help make the outdoor dining area a little more enjoyable. We will be back though. read more

Anywhere you can sip sangria on a patio for $5.00 during happy hour is a plus for me. I was able to make reservations for Father's Day two days prior without a problem and were seated right when we arrived. I would suggest the fillet Mignon kabob however; just about everything on the menu is delicious. The staff are polite and courteous but at times can take a while to return to your table. If you do decide to sit on the patio keep in mind that Main St can be a tad busy and noisy, other than that I would completely return. read more

My dad and I came right at peak dinner time so it was pretty loud. We had difficulty hearing each other throughout the night until the table of 3 about 3 ft away from us left. That significantly improved the noise level immediately around us, but the general loudness still reflected how busy the rest of the restaurant was. Despite the fact that only two tables were empty, I felt that the waiters ran things very smoothly and helped to calm down the atmosphere a bit. Gratuity is included, at about 17%, which I feel lends to the more relaxed sense of customer service and is a figure well-deserved. The Grilled Salmon and Mashed Potatoes dish was great, but I was really impressed by the Sweet Jalapeno Pizza. I'd never heard of a sweet and spicy pizza before and absolutely loved it! It's very unexpected, especially with the artichoke heart topping, but it works extremely well. If you enjoy a combination of opposing flavors, like sweet and salty, it's a must-try! read more
