At times, it feels as though they are trying to hide what is really going on instead of being transparent with the family. This facility has gone seriously downhill, and I feel terrible for anyone who has to depend on it for their recovery. The physical therapy has been inconsistent and, in my opinion, inadequate. My mother walked into this facility and is leaving in a wheelchair, no longer able to walk. That is extremely concerning and heartbreaking for our family. Families should be able to trust that their loved ones are receiving consistent, appropriate care and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here.

His advice was invaluable. He was always there for me, whenever I had questions. He was super responsive, emailing back or calling right away. While the building is very nice, it's really the staff who make this place feel like home. The chef will customize meals to meet individual needs - he's adding my mother's favorite (and unique) sandwich to the menu, simply because I requested it one day. That is service. Everyone on the care team is friendly, patient, professional and caring, and they consistently go out of their way to support the residents. It is true, the time goes so fast, with many choices of things to do. The food here is first class, dining out every night, or in ones home. One rarely hears complaints here, only comments about how lucky we were to find this place. The staff attentive to our every need. Last week six of us got together for a Hawaii evening. We were all either born there or had lived there for a long period, such fun. It's so easy to do things like that. We were detailed and upfront about the condition of our parent and 3 nurses came to review her and assured us at that time the spot was hers, however, we heard nothing. A week and several phone calls later we were told they would not take her. We ended up finding a spot where she is WELL cared for in every way, BUT after literally 7 follow ups with Morningstar, as of 2.4.26, our $1,500 "fully refundable" deposit still has not been returned. THAT'S 3 MONTHS!!! I guess we will have to follow up with the Better Business Bureau and the CA Attorney General and/or the Board that oversees Care Centers. We should NOT get the run around and have to spend our time trying to get a refundable deposit back, it should have automatically been credited to my debit card the day she was refused care at the center, 3 months of back and forth texts, phone calls, and finger pointing is ridiculous.

We spent some happy days with my beloved MIL there. I moved MIL from a country club like larger assisted care Memory Care where she fell on her face and broke her nose within 2 hours of my leaving. It was just too big for her. Board and Care is much more personal with a better ratio of 2:6 ratio of caregiving. My MIL came in a wheelchair and within a month was back to walking with a walker then cane! She perked up being around other seniors and even made a new best friend. The rooms are spacious, and the backyard has a little walking path with flowering plants and fruit trees. Residents and the house and yard are well cared for, and the staff cooks meals from scratch. The staff is professional, kind, and patient. I am thankful there was an opening when my MIL needed it.
