Already lined, completely functional, and the perfect start to my gardening experience. Our strawberries are already peeking through and I can't wait to consume our home grown nutrition! To be honest, after all the five star reviews I expected a much cleaner final product. The craftsmanship of the box itself is solid , my prob is with the paint job, no bueno, horrible paint job. The wheels (both boxes) look like they were dragged through white paint, and they are supposed to be black. In fairness, the gal did offer to replace them, but I'm wondering why it was ok to send them out like this.

I was searching high and low for a well built raised planter on rollers. I was having the hardest time finding one..until I found OC Backyard Builders. I'm so happy with how it turned out, we added an aloe plant because I have a black thumb :( it's a really cute accent on our porch and if this aloe survives, I plan on ordering a potting table for our patio!

OC Backyard Builders had a sale so I had to buy one! (I'd buy one regardless of there being a sale or discount, but I was encouraged haha). I ordered the standard planter box with wheels. I kind of wish I had bought the one with a shelf, but I may end up just buying another some time. Reasonably priced at $125 (regularly 150, still not bad). Compared to some builders on Offerup, you're still getting a great deal. The size is huge, it comes with liner on the inside, and has wheels. It is easily movable thanks to its wheels, and it has a lot of capacity for soil (I used raised bed garden soil, about 4 cubic feet plus some mulch/top soil). Communication was a breeze and Shawnna was very responsive from beginning to end. My husband and I picked it up, and that was also easy for us. They loaded it into our car. I am very happy with their product and service! They have plenty of other projects available like address number/planter boxes, a smaller planter box with a trellis, potting bench. From start to finish, OC Backyard Builders were amazing! I was looking for a quarantine hobby, and was recommended to this company. We gave the owners our desired dimensions, and they got started immediately! It's so awesome how they can customize everything (color, size, etc.) Throughout the process, they made sure to keep us updated on the status of our planter. It was ready in no time! They even delivered and dropped it off to our home. We ran to grab some plants and planted them immediately. It's only been a month and our plants have tripled in size! We just used some of the basil we grew for dinner last night. Overall, the planter is so cute, and sturdy! I love how it is on wheels, so we were able to move it around our yard and in/out of the sun easily and we don't have to worry about rodents getting to it. These are so nice, I bought a second a month after my first. I had a small planter box that I used for years and decided to treat myself to an upgrade after seeing these on IG. I transferred my herbs and they are thriving in their new space. Plus I had additional room for some squash. I am lucky to have a small backyard with my apartment and the standard boxes are great addition. Also, because of the wheels I know it will be easy to move in the future. These are well built and and come with a liner. I would recommend upgrading and adding the shelf for storage. read more

I was happy to support this family-owned start up business. I'm not 100% sure how I found it, but I'm happy that I did. We asked about the standard rolling planter, with dividers, via instagram. Within 1 week it was completed (keep in mind, this is all hand-crafted), and we paid a deposit and then paid the rest on pickup. The transaction was seamless and we are incredibly happy with our rolling planter. We have already rolled it several places in the yard as we discover the best location for sun. It's also super convenient for cleaning. I like that there are add-on extras that make your piece customizable. It's sturdy but not too heavy, and the liner is food-grade safe. I will likely be ordering again in the future once we re-do our patio. I really like the simplicity and aesthetic. read more

Please stop updating your responses to change the story and accuse me of some new bad behavior. The texts are our communications, I didn't call you and "press you". There are no other communications. They also speak for themselves. Adding a screenshot of your prior edited comment. Update 2: Last update and lowered my rating from a 2 to a 1 star to reflect the now edited response that no longer says I "haggled" for a faster time and suggests for the first time that the glass didn't break "on its own". So I'm adding a picture of the glass, and another text screenshot where Mike refers to spontaneous breakage and asking the glass company if it's under warranty. Not sure why he's ask them if it was under warranty if it didn't break on its own. Update: I am not surprised that Mike responded. I never "haggled" to get it done sooner. If I had, I'd be pretty bad at haggling for it to take 3.5 months for it to not get done. But as I said, I have receipts. I would not recommend working with Hicks. I have had a series of issues, but held off on a critical review since he would previously try to resolve the issues. I hired Hicks to install a patio railing. The work was done fairly quickly, but after less than a year, one of the cables had fallen off. Hicks came back and repaired it without additional cost, which I appreciated. Next I had Hicks install a glass and wood balcony. I wasn't happy with the quality of the work or the state of the job site, and again Hicks apologized and came back to make it better and clean up the mess. He was at times defensive, but again, I appreciated him fixing the errors. Less than a year after the balcony was installed, a glass panel shattered. There was no impact or area of impact, suggesting it was from a glass manufacturing defect. He told me the warranty on the glass he used was only for 6 months from installation (even for defective glass), so I'd need to pay for a new sheet of glass, but he would install it without additional charge. The glass shattered in mid October. It's now February. Hicks' communication has been really challenging. I pushed and pushed to get it installed and it took months to even get scheduled. On January 9th, the day he was supposed to arrive to install, he didn't show at the agreed upon time, and only later responded after I had reached out about him being a no-show to let me know that strong wind had blown over the replacement glass and it broke. I was very frustrated because this was January and he had initially told me it would be a few weeks to get the glass replaced (which would have been November). Had it been installed in an even remotely timely manner, it wouldn't have blown over and broken. So I asked when the new glass would arrive, he said about a week. I asked him if he could please schedule me for a couple weeks out so we have something scheduled and I wouldn't have to wait months again. He said yes, but didn't actually schedule me. I started messaging a couple times a week with no response - again, said the new glass should be arrive in about a week on January 9th. Yesterday I messaged saying I needed an update, and he told me the whole thing was too stressful and he's not doing it anymore. So I waited 3.5 months for him to replace defective glass that he had offered to replace (with me paying the cost of the glass), and then he just decided he's not going to do it. I was patient and incredibly reasonable through all of these issues, but the defensiveness and failure to communicate and follow through isn't professional. I have receipts for all of these communications.

First off: we love our custom door, it continues to be a highlight of our home (super important making a great impression as people enter). It swings easily and is super stable. Recently the bolt holding the door frame to the wall came loose (likely from a mix of daily use and our shifting soils here in San Clemente). Not entirely surprising that there'd be some "settling in" given that it's a fairly massive completely custom door - but still, it had been over a year since the Hicks team finished the job. I emailed and asked: is this sort of thing covered? Well... Myke came out personally and spent the better part of two hours fixing the issue - not only thoroughly reinforcing the door frame but also upgrading the other side of the frame with a new customer stopper to increase security but also improve the operation of the door. It's been almost 18 months since install and Myke came out free of charge. Went well above and beyond and shook my hand and wished me well. If you think "good people doing good work" is hard to find... I hope you find this review, and give Myke Hicks a call.

I also really like that they don't drill into my foundation. Taylor and Jassenia have been spot on with communication. They've been very flexible when I had to change my initial inspection date. Quick to respond to my questions. Today I had my inspection for my three unit condo and Wayne was professional, friendly, and very respectful of everyone's property. I didn't get any negative feedback while he was inspecting, so fingers crossed that I passed. My parents have another property that was recently inspected by South Coast and did not pass. The inspection company offered a contractor that could do the work and (while the contractor is affiliate with them), the price quoted was very competitive as well. I would highly recommend this company if you need your deck inspected or even repaired to bring it up to code.
