I'm a believer. I've been to Javier twice for prenatal massages. Each time, I had specific issues that needed to be addressed and holy crap did he fix/alleviate them. My first appointment was mainly for the sciatica I was experiencing. He was able to pinpoint exactly where the muscle was pinching that sciatic nerve. I feel like he really tailored the massage to my needs and not only worked on massaging areas that needed help, but also stretched me in areas that I didn't even realized I needed until he worked on it. I was able to replicate the muscle pressure at home and lo and behold, my sciatica was gone after my husband massaged it after 3 days. My second appointment was mainly for the pelvic girdle pain I've been experiencing. It had gotten so bad, I couldn't even walk. When I had discussed this with him, he knew exactly what I was describing and knew the areas that were causing me pain. He was able to stretch out that area and pinpoint the deep muscles that was causing the pain. Not only that, but he showed me how to have my husband stretch out the pelvic areas that needed work. What impresses me the most about Javier is that he doesn't mind showing you things you can do at home to help alleviate or even fix the issues you're having. I found Javier through my prenatal yoga instructor when I was about 32 weeks pregnant. I wish I would have found him earlier! He helped relieve a lot of sciatic and sacrum pain I was experiencing during pregnancy. When I was 2 days past my due date, I went to him for an induction massage. He guided me to just push all the worry aside and allow the baby to come when ready. Apparently she was really ready because I started having contractions 7 hours after the massage. I'm really glad I had the induction massage before labor because I think it truly relaxed my body and played a part in my labor being so short and sweet (this was my 2nd pregnancy and the labor was less than 6 hours). At 31 week pregnant I was starting to get all of the usual aches and pains. The massage was relaxing, but like many said it almost felt like physical therapy too with some of the stretching and such he did. It felt great! I felt completely at ease and the bed worked great for being pregnant. He has pillows and foam cutouts to make you comfy on your sides. His massage room is inside a physical therapy place. I couldn't recommend a massage session with physical therapist, Javier Gallarzo, more highly. I have frequented many different massage places, and usually feel vaguely satisfied afterwards, however I see therapeutic massages in a whole other light since beginning with Javier. He is extremely professional, attentive, and seems to put just the right pressure where my muscles need it most. He really is extremely good at what he does. Every time I visit him, I am more and more impressed at how he is able to read my body. I started going to him for prenatal massages at 34 weeks, I am now 38 weeks and have been going to him on a weekly basis. The strain of the baby weight on my legs, feet, lower back and shoulders has felt extreme at times. Javier has been able to dig deep into all those points of most pressure so that during and after the massage I am left feeling lighter, more confident and relaxed. I wasn't sure if I could manage going to Javier consistently during my pregnancy due to financial constraints, but after one visit, I realized my body and mind needed it. With all the wear and tear that my little girl is putting on me daily, an hour to relax and have a therapeutic massage readjustment is the least I could do to give my body a little love. It is well worth the cost (and Javier is actually very affordable when comparing other therapeutic massage services.) He also is able to offer induction massage services, focusing on pressure points that may help get labor going. I am excited to try that out next week during my 39th week.
