I have used OC Sprinkler Doctor twice over the years, spending a combined $2,849 for sprinkler work at my home. The first visit cost $1,133 and covered the initial setup and repairs to both my front and back yard sprinkler systems. They did a good job and I was happy with the results. I brought them back a second time for $1,716 to handle wiring, fix some broken sprinkler components in the front yard, and extend the system to cover additional areas. The wiring of both the front and back systems was done perfectly, and I appreciated that part of the work. That said, if you have fruit trees or citrus in your yard, be aware that they do not have the expertise to handle specialized watering needs for those plants. The sprinklers near my fruit trees were set up incorrectly, and a professional arborist I later consulted told me the configuration would overwater the trees. I called OC Sprinkler Doctor to come back and fix the issue, but they never returned my call. Now I am in a position where I will need to hire a professional arborist who also can do landscaping to come back and fix the sprinkler system again, likely at a cost of $3,000 or more, when I am able to afford it. They are reasonably priced and capable of handling standard sprinkler lawn work, but the lack of specialized knowledge around vegetables, fruit trees and citrus trees, combined with the complete silence when I tried to get the issue resolved, may end up costing me far more in the end. read more

I was looking here on yelp and came across OC Sprinkler Dr. I saw alot of positive reviews and decided to give them a call. I was able to get a free consultation appointment and chose the day/ time. Manuel came out, he was very professional and very knowledgeable, told me what the problem was. The price was very reasonable as well so I scheduled a date for them to come out and fix the problem. Fernando came out the day of the appointment to fix our problem and to give us a shut off valve since we didn't have one. He arrived on time and fixed the problem alot quicker then expected. Later that day we noticed the front sprinkler wasn't turning on, so I called Manuel to ask what the problem could be. He showed up the next day, went around the back and front yard with us and showed us that the front water valve had remained shut off. It was completely our faul for not knowing that but I was so appreciative of Manuel making the time out of his busy schedule to come over and help us out. This is a real FAMILY business. I called at 12:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon, expecting to get voicemail since it was still lunchtime. Laura answered right away and said she could have someone (turned out to be Manuel, her husband) come out and give me an estimate. Manuel diagnosed the PROBLEMS, which I knew already, were many. He gave me two estimates, one to fix the major stuff, the other to fix all the issues and update and add sprinkler heads for appropriate coverage. I chose the total fix option, and I'm so glad I did. His crew, including his Dad, was there on Tuesday morning and went right to work. OC Sprinkler Doctor helped us recently during a sprinkler emergency. Something had gone wrong with our sprinkler system in the backyard and all of a sudden water was flowing out from underneath and the water would not stop. We had to turn off our main water in our home. We called OC Sprinkler Doctor and got an answer right away (mid-afternoon on a Friday). We told them about the situation, but couldn't find a time for them to come by for the emergency. Thinking we'd have to manually turn the water off and on all weekend until it was fixed, we got a follow-up call from Manuel who got the details of my sprinkler emergency. I texted him a picture of where the water was coming out and he diagnosed the issue, how he can fix it, the estimate on the pricing, and that he will try to get someone to our house that same afternoon. He and Fernando came early evening and fixed the issue. He replaced the switches (and some other equipment) and made to sure to clean-up any messes (had to dig underneath the dirt, move the rocks, etc.) We appreciated that they called back to try to work something out with scheduling and followed through to get the job done the same afternoon. They understood the situation and did what they could to help. Kind and professional and kept lines of communication open. They accepted Venmo as payment. I saw the high Yelp rating and figured this company seemed reliable and legit. Normally, I check out past reviews but being really busy I didn't. And now I realize that many of those reviews are not genuine or authentic. Manuel came out and gave me a quote. They were scheduled to come the next day, but they didn't show up. I called 5 times throughout the day and no one picked up the phone. I even left a voice message, and finally at the end of the day, I got a call back saying that no one was able to come out to service because they were too busy. This excuse is not reasonable. Plus, they're supposed to inform me in advance if they can't make it. Still, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, and they rescheduled for the next day. And guess what... another no-show. This time, they called and said that the technician didn't have a car. Another terrible excuse. What kind of business is this if a customer has to chase for a scheduled appointment, twice? This type of service is so unprofessional yet laughable, I couldn't believe it. I ended up finding another sprinkler company who charged half the price and came out the next day and got the job done. Recently, I noticed many things wrong with my front yard sprinklers - someone had tampered with the manual controller setting of the sprinklers twice a day, the sprinkler heads were damaged, spraying water everywhere but the grass, patches of grass dying and a lot of water flowing near the station heads (pipe damage). It was no wonder the water bill for over a few months were not making sense as they were way higher. I looked at Yelp my most trusted source to find sprinkler help and found a host of companies. Sent a quote request - Manuel from OC sprinkler doctors responded with details and asked for a call. I spoke to him and explained the situation. He was prompt and came over the next day. Went over my yard, checked everything and told me he would take care of everything, new sprinklers, all adjusted, new stations, repair the pipe, remove tree stumps and roots that were potentially damaging the pipes and replace my controller with a new wi-fi enabled controller that I could control and set on my phone. So anyone even attempting to tamper could be mitigated from my phone including control of on and off. His price was very reasonable and in line for all the work. We agreed and next day Manuel with his crew Fernando and Juan showed up promptly and on time. They started work and in half a day had my whole system re-hauled. We have a sprinkler pipe broke near the side walk and our regular gardener believes it's the city and after multiple inquiries to other sprinkler repairers we were told it should be a sprinkler issue. Long story short, Manuel came and have us a quote and a few days later his crew came and did the job. In addition to fixing that broken pipe I had them replace any broken sprinkler and replace my current auto timer. Pricing I believe was reasonable. The reason I give it a 5 star is that a month later we checked to see if the sprinklers are indeed working so we turn them on manually and saw one didn't really work. I messaged Manuel , fearing that he'll tell me to buzz off , but to my pleasant surprise he didn't. He said ok and said wil show up in 2 days. 2 days later he actually came !!! Can you believe that? And on time too! He came , checked that one sprinkler out, said there's a piece of rock stuck to it and just fixed it...He even spend the time to ensure all the other sprinklers are working too so that was really icing on the cake. In retrospect I felt very stupid asking Manuel to drive all the way over to take a piece of rock stuck near the sprinkler but for someone who is 100% not handy and do not do DIY, anything is an issue. I really wanted to do business with Manuel as the initial communication was solid and when he did come out to assess the job, was really pleasant to deal with. That's about the extent of the positives...he quoted us 2 guys for a full day to replace 29 sprinkler heads, drop a couple of short lines and two new heads plus make some adjustments on other sprinklers. He admitted that he would mark up the sprinkler heads by 45%. What?? The overall price was absurd, but didn't tell him right then as I wanted to do the math myself and get back to him. I did ask for a quote over email, but never heard from him again. The great thing about Yelp is there are many other choices. We had another company come out today to do the work...one man, for 6 hours...who btw took his time as he was a bit older. He charged half the price and did outstanding work. Had them out to repair a leak on a sprinkler line back in October 2021. Not even a year later the same line is leaking in the same spot. Instead of replacing the coupling that came apart with a new one they simply reinserted it and charged me $325. Avoid this company at all costs. Bought the coupling for $2.16 at Home Depot. Took me 5 minutes to repair. Contractors like this give them all bad names. read more
