We come here all the time for family outings. We drive an hour and a half a half because where else do you find a drive in. Fancy? No. Perfect for families? Yes. Good for a date? Yes. Sometimes we stay in our car (summer), sometimes we sit in chairs in the grass. The cost is so much better than the regular theater. The pizza deal is perfect for families.

Our family was driving through Ocala and we wanted to stop by Ocala Drive-In for the experience as our family had never been to a drive in before. First, the good: the ticket prices were very reasonable, although you are forced to also buy a $10 food voucher. This would be ok if the concessions were good, and unfortunately it was not. We ordered the pizza, cheese fries, popcorn, cheeseburger and a roast beef po'boy, and the only things that were edible were the cheese fries and popcorn. The pizza and cheeseburger tasted like cafeteria food from middle school. The screen quality for the movie "Sinners" shown on screen 2 was also not very good. I wonder why the owner doesn't invest in better quality screens for a drive in? The sound quality, however, was excellent. Overall, this was a unique experience and could be a 5 star if the food and screen quality of the drive-in are improved in the future.

Listen I wasn't expecting the greatest experience, but man was it old time fun!!! It was our first time there and it's family fun. The gates open about an hour before the movie. I'd suggest arriving during that time to order food and park! The cost is $6 pp plus a $10 fee for food at the concession stand. There are two entrances right next to each other depending on what movies / screen you want. Screen one is larger than screen two. But both are super fun! You tune in on your radio. Bring chairs and sit outside. There were kids running around playing soccer, teens on dates and hanging with friends , couples on date nights and groups of friends! It was so fun! The concession takes some time but everything is reasonably priced and fried. (What could go wrong?) overall if you are looking for a night out that won't break the bank and you don't mind it being old fashion, this is the place to Go! Plus they allow your pup to attend as long as they are part of the family!

2nd time posting. See my first post for more information. Always a good trip when we come here. We actually plan weekends around going to the drive in followed by the flea markets the next day. The food at the concession stand is fresh, good and reasonably priced. The popcorn is still my favorite. Thank you for maintaining a piece of Americana.

Do u use your radio as speaker?

We transmit to FM radio station but do have Great Sound on our patio area if you wish to enjoy the movie there.

Will the typical car battery last through two movies? OEM equipment, will have a full charge driving there, 1.5 hours, no amplifier, just basic car speakers. Thanks.

Yes and No. It did for most but it didn't for us. However, we had a set of jumper cables and the people next to us were nice enough to hook us up. Also the concession stand is set up with a jump box for just an occasion. Make sure you use ACC.

We have been back several times since our first visit in February of this year. We've seen popular and new movies such as Goat, Project Hail Mary, and the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. You can arrive a half hour before the show starts to pay and get your spot to watch the movie. Tonight we watch Shang Chi and the Ten Rings and our experience specific to tonight... Not the best. In the beginning of the movie there are subtitles which you can't read because on this screen only the top line ever showed. So as long as there's only one line sentences you're good! In addition there aren't any loud speakers or speakers to place on your vehicle like many other drive ins have, so we had a really hard time hearing. I don't know if this movie was shot in dark lighting or if they needed to adjust lighting on the screen, but there seemed to be a glare or it was often hard to see some scenes. There was an idiot with his car lights on which may have posed a problem as well but no one said anything to them. No one walked around to check for things like that like many other theaters do as well. The website indicates if you have difficulty getting your lights to turn off they have covers for your car to use to dim your lights. There's no info about additional speakers though it does say if you have issues you can let them know. Also kind of bummed with the choice of preshow music. We really enjoy attending the theaters that okay the old fashioned tunes and ads! You only get half an hour before hand anyway which also could be extended some. Show up as early as you can within that time frame to get the best pick of parking spots. Also bring big spray or citronella candle or something. Bugs galore! We may try this theater again in the future but will need to probably bring a radio to provide additional speakers.

The auditoriums were comfortable with the recliner seats and the other patrons were quiet and respectful. One thing I will say: Regal recently updated their mask policy to relax it for vaccinated patrons and strongly suggest it for non-vaccinated patrons, I believe. I have no issues wearing masks (especially when watching a movie - it doesn't get much easier than that), but it was nice to be relaxed and remove it once people got settled and the movie began. I do hope that theaters continue soft seat-blocking with reserved seating for awhile so you don't have immediate neighbors unless the theatre fills up. It'll probably help people ease back into life after lockdown.

I had to put tissues in my ears and my friend put her ear against the seat to tone down the loudness. The staff there acted like it was out of their control. We saw Toy Story 5 and although it was a good movie, it was not a great experience with ridiculously loud volumes. I have been to movies all my life and the volume was quite messed up.

The seats are comfortable- large, reclining, and can also be heated (which is a very nice treat during the record cold temperatures outside). The popcorn is always tasty. You can add as much or as little butter as you prefer. There are a variety of other food options as well such as pizza and chicken tenders. You can even indulge with a milkshake or a cocktail! I love that they serve coke products and especially coke icees!! Also, it wouldn't be a theater without a large selection of candy to choose from. Of course I think all movie theater candy is overpriced but it's part of the experience. I especially appreciate the ease of purchasing tickets online and having the opportunity to select your seats ahead of time! It certainly alleviates the stress of worrying about being able to seat your party together and gives you the ability to pick the exact seat you want.
