This restaurant is particularly my favorite restaurant in the town, far much better than many of the pizza restaurants that I have been to before, their pizza is made and comes out to the table hot, the fries are crispy and taste delicious. I decided to try this restaurant as I pass it all the time. The place was clean and quaint and the waitress was good but the food was horrible. I ordered French fries and they came out undercooked. I asked for them to be cooked proper and when the waitress returned with them they were brown and hard as a rock after seeing that I chose not to order anything further. The other issue I had was that one of the cook's had a 12 inch beard and was hanging over food as he prepared it with no beard protector on. I will not eat here again nor will I recommend it to others. read more

The staff is friendly and super helpful when you're trying to make a difficult decision between a grinder or a pizza. And they text daily specials which is cool if you're debating on takeout. If I could give zero stars I would... First off the positives, the staff is very friendly and the service is fast. All menu items are inexpensive, however, you get what you pay for! The problem is when you taste the food. Disclaimer, Norwich is not at all known for good food, however the food here is exceptionally poor. The sauce for the Italian dishes and pizza is pathetic. When I ordered the chicken parm, it came in an aluminum foil dish. The chicken had the same consistency and flavor of the chicken patties I was served in elementary school (very moist and mushy). The sauce was truly disgusting, (if you serve a bottle of Presto with no improvements it would be a few orders of magnitude better!). To top off the embarrassment, the dish was completely covered in (mozzarella?) cheese that did not taste fresh. When I say covered, I mean there was easily twice as much cheese as there was sauce. The whole tin foil mess was obviously cooked way too long, as the cheese and sauce were crusty. I found the meal completely inedible. This is coming from a combat veteran who has lived for months on MREs... Sad to say, I've given this restaurant a few other chances while I lived down the street while attending UConn, and it has been consistently inedible. Eat at your own risk! read more

I waited a long time to make this review as I wanted to see if I could get over my bad experiences. Let me start by saying the food at Occum Pizza is very good and the service is descent. All I have to say is if you order take-out don't ever forget your number. I live about 4 minutes away and ordered from here a few times a week for years. One night I called in an order and when I picked it up I forgot the number and oh my God if the owner Cindy didn't have a fit and she made a scene in will never forget. As I stood at the window and looked around I noticed that the entire restaurant was looking at me I was so embarrassed. I left and didn't go back for over a year. Then 1 night I decided I would try it again and as usual was very happy with the food and started frequenting them again. Then after about 5 months one night my wife called in an order and asked me to pick it up. I asked my wife what number did they give you and she forgot and said just tell them what we ordered it will be fine. Can you believe when I got there Cindy was at the register and asked me what number and I said my wife forgot let me tell you what we ordered. BIG MISTAKE! Once again Cindy made a huge deal about it and once again people were looking at me and I left feeling like a fool. I love the food but I will never set foot inside Occum Pizza ever again. read more
