I was very excited to find a seafood restaurant after Philips closed. My husband and I had a wonderful time down at the boardwalk and thought we would end it with a great seafood steak dinner. This place had good reviews. My husband ordered the New York Strip med rare and I ordered the crab cake dinner. The steak fell short as it had a very bizarre sauce over it which did not taste good at all. My crab cakes had quite a bit of filler in it and was also nothing to rant about. Everything was not even so so it was just bad. My husband out of politeness accepted a to go box but then purposely left it but the server came after us and said you forgot your meal! Darn, we were trying to leave it cause it was not worth taking home. I hate to say it but we threw it in the nearest trash can. The only fun part our dining experience is the guy who goes around and snaps pictures of the diners and then you can buy the picture off of him. Ours turned out nice. We were looking for a new place to try out when we found awesome reviews for Ocean 13. I was in the mood for some crab Mac and cheese so I ordered up the crabby Mac. OH EMM GGEEE This was cooked to perfection! I haven't had one like this and will now be ruined if I try any others. It has the right amount of spice mixed in and that creamy cheesey ooey gooey goodness with crab meat throughout the entire dish. Don't forget the texture on top!! The menu was good (not too big to cause decision paralysis but not too small to have nothing for some people). The service was great - we were especially happy with Mackenzie tonight. She projected her voice extraordinarily well and was very pleasant to one and all. (She's my new favorite server anywhere.) As we're a fairly large group (10 full size people) and the room we were seated in worked well - not loud, not embarrassingly quiet. My only suggestion for the manager/owner(s) might be to offer a smaller NY strip as an option for smaller appetites. Guacamole was delicious as well as their house Pina Colada. I had the salmon and my fiancé ordered the filet medallions. Large portions of the sides were served. The only complaints I have were the price of a Jefferson old fashioned were $25 each and the entree sides were a little salty for my taste buds. Service was great ! I wish I would of taken down my waitress name . She always made sure we had drinks full, and that we were taken care of . Appetizers were the crab dip which was good but I would of liked more crab meat , comes in a bread bowl so it soaked up the crab dip and it was great . Wings we ordered mild not a very saucy wing but the mild was good . Strip and shrimp was great my fiancé liked it . Pasta primavera was average plus side is you can add shrimp or salmon to it . My toddler got a bowl of butter noodles and broccoli it was a generous size portion , she loved it . We also had the rib grilled cheese perfect toast on the bread not soggy and a side of fries . I was a fan of the old location on the boardwalk and was excited to see we were only a few blocks from the new location. O13 is part of the LaQuinta hotel. It's an open floor plan with upstairs & downstairs seating plus outdoor seating. You have to climb a few stairs if you are coming from the street. We came for brunch. Came here on a Saturday morning during bike week. The staff immediately let us know that they were short staffed so there would be a wait, but they also made us feel very welcome. The service was impeccable. The food was really tasty. I especially loved their breakfast potatoes. They were crispy, almost like 3D potato chips. Very unique! Amazing from beginning to end. My wife and I went during happy hour and decided to sample the margarita, an Old Bay wings, crab cake slider and fried risotto balls from the happy hour menu. All amazing! It inspired me to order the blackened seafood risotto for an entree..... I cherished each bite! Then an Woodford Old Fashioned (made by Jacob) which was easily THE BEST OLD FASHIONED I have ever had. I gave Jacob an extra tip just in appreciation of his bartending skill! This was followed by bourbon bread pudding for me and skillet chocolate chip cookie and ice cream for my wife. Each bite of the entire meal was savory and perfect. This place is a decent choice for dinner that we arrived at after deciding to try something new. Their menu is a little bit pricey for the portions and service, but with time, I think they have potential. We opted to just try more casual foods but they were really flavorful and good. I enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich. The food came out fairly quick after we ordered. The overall service was mediocre, unfortunately. We didn't have our drinks refilled and we saw several tables who had left that did not get bussed throughout the duration of our time there. Quick and friendly service. Great outdoor seating right on coastal highway. It was fun to watch the cars while waiting for lunch. We were greeted as soon as we walked in (what seemed like the wrong entrance--stairs from outside street going up) She asked where we would like to sit. Inside or out. And then brought us to a table and asked if it was okay. The food was amazing. We got the shore billy fries to start, it had crabmeat, jalapeños, cheese, bacon and ranch. What an amazing experience! Stopped by for happy hour. The happy hour menu was a nice mixture of items. We had great service created immediately upon entering the bar. The staff did great keeping everyone at the bar serviced and were very friendly. I HIGHLY recommend the Parmesan Truffle fries with balsamic drizzle. They were phenomenal! Crispy, large portion and the balsamic drizzle brought it all together! For dinner we had 2 different entrees. The blackened Seafood Risotto did not disappoint. The creamy risotto offset the blackened shrimp and scallops. I loved it! If you are looking for a steak the Petite Tenderloin hit the spot! The steak was made exactly how we ordered. The seasonal chefs butter melted over the steak and mushrooms was phenomenal!! We will definitely be back again. I've tried to avoid writing this review. I have given this place 3 shots to try to change my mind. The first time I came here I ordered the tomahawk ribeye. I called ahead to order it because it takes 45 minutes to prepare. I love my steak medium rare. My wife came and my kids. This was going to be my birthday dinner. The wife and kids ordered once we were seated and we told the waitress that we preordered the tomahawk. We got a couple drinks, an appetizer. Everything was good. Then the wife and kids food comes out. Perfect mine should be right out. Understandable. Needless to say everyone finished their meals and my food hadn't come out yet. So I'm a little disappointed now. It was another 10 minutes before it came out. They never put it on with my pre order. Whatever at least I have it now. Cut into it. Well done. I give up at this point. Waitress is obviously very apologetic winds up getting me money off the $100 steak. Still not worth $75 in my opinion. The wife and kids at least enjoyed their food. Because of this I decided to give it a second shot. The second time I came I was alone. I sat at the bar and had a couple drinks. They had karaoke and there was more of a party atmosphere. I was digging it. I ordered the regular ribeye with cut potatoes. Medium rare of course. The steak was perfectly cooked this time and was really good. The cut potatoes were inedible. They were cut too small and over cooked making them very hard. They were very tuff to eat. I'm Irish I know my potatoes. These were no good. Although the steak was awesome. Much better experience this time. I was happy the drinks were good and the karaoke was fun to watch. The third time I came with my sister, her kids my wife and ours. Everyone ordered I order the regular ribeye and ask to substitute the cut potatoes for mashed. Because I know the cut potatoes are no good. The waitress tells me I am not able to substitute the cut potatoes for mashed that they are a pre made meal. So now I'm thinking the potatoes and veg are pre packaged quick chilled food which would also explain why the potatoes were so tuff. Whatever I order it anyway. She promised they are better that the chef has changed. No, no honey they weren't better. Your chef could have been god himself and he wouldn't have been able to work a miracle to make the cut potatoes any better. My sister was also unsatisfied with her food. She had gotten the pork chop and it came to the table rare. It had to go back. Mind you she had mentioned to the waitress when placing her order that it has to be well done. This is all not acceptable. I tried my hardest to like this place. I gave it 3 shots. I wanted to like the place seeing that is is in close proximity to my condo. Yeah if your going there to have drinks and enjoy karaoke I would recommend it. The fact that you can't substitute your sides, they can't cook potatoes, and they ruin a $100 piece of meat and still make you pay the majority for it I cannot recommend this place to eat. On Sunday, August 11 we attempted to go to Ocean 13 for their very recommended Sunday Brunch. We arrived about 10 am with a long line of customers waiting for the restaurant to open. No one ever did open the establishment and we all left. I attempted to contact the manager to no avail. No explanation that I can find was ever given for the random not opening. This restaurant changed to a new location next to a hotel, and to be honest the food was about on par with a bad hotel restaurant. The location itself is nicely decorated, however the majority of the seating is upstairs which may be a problem with those with mobility issues. The service was extremely slow for a Tuesday afternoon, taking 15+ minutes at a time to get a servers attention to refill drinks, bring the check, etc. The absolute worst part was the food. I decided to get the Eggs Benedict with crab and I don't know WHAT they put on top of it, but it was definitely NOT crab meat. I wish I would have taken a picture but didn't want to be rude, but the best way I could describe the mystery meat on top of the eggs benedict was that it looked PINK like lobster meat, but browned and crumbly like sausage??? I don't know if it was over-cooked lobster since they also offer lobster as a topping that they accidentally put on top instead of crab, but I have never seen lobster be browned like sausage before. Either way, it was not appetizing at all. The dish came with 100% unseasoned home fries, that were tasty--in the sense that McDonalds fries are tasty. Overall, 100% NOT worth the market price of $18 I paid to have "crab" on top of eggs benedict. Definitely had buyers remorse on this meal and will likely try out a different place next time I'm looking for lunch/brunch in OC. read more

Went here based on the yelp reviews and was so disappointed. Walked in and was seated in a freezing cold dining area at a sticky table and the laziest most schizophrenic decor I've ever seen. Placed our order and got a bunch of appetizers to give it a fair shake and everything was just beyond average. One of the items was a short rib bruschetta that looked like it was sitting under a heat lamp for over an hour. Whoever came up with this dish has an awful palate. This place was great. Very quick, very friendly service, even when we had to move inside when it started to rain. All of the food was really great. The lump crab meat dip for an appetizer was amazing, as was the tuna poky. My friends vegan beyond burger was also excellent, and the brownie dessert was the best brownie I've ever eaten... It's almost like it wasn't cooked the whole way through. It was amazing. Prices were what you would expect for the area, and the only thing that didn't make it five stars was the fact that there was not a lot of parking, as well as the fact that it wasn't the most inventive menu, but it was still good. We walked into the restaurant with high hopes and left very disappointed. Let me start with the decor. It's dark and very outdated. Reminds you of an old VFW that has been around since the 70s You climb the stairs to a loft area that has outdated glass fencing that looked like it has never seen Windex. The wallpaper was dirty and the outdated carpet looked very worn and dirty. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress and another 45 for our food. We were a little concerned when we arrived to find the place almost empty. It was a Thursday in early May. But we came for the tomahawk ribeye steaks so we stayed and ordered them. I didn't understand why it took 45 minutes to cook them and our medium rare came out medium. the medium steak took a little longer which worried the two in our party that wanted it that way, but theirs was cooked perfectly. The steaks were plenty for 2 and very flavorful. The salad was good and the presentation was well done. We'll be back when we are in the mood for big steaks again! lol!!!! we googled best steakhouses in OCNJ and Ocean 13 was on top . We had been eating so much seafood that we wanted a good piece of meat . The rest sounded like a real steakhouse ! our family got dressed up for dinner and we were a bit taken back that it was a casual grill type rest . Prime rib was offered only on Thurs and had few choices of meat on menu . The petite tenderloin was not a tenderloin , it was sliced thin beef covered in onions. The NY strip was inconsistent . Not sure what's up with all the bad reviews, but I'm sure it's the seasonal waits especially during summertime. I was staying at La Quinta Hotel and wanted an easy dinner, im sure people might avoid this place because it's right inside the hotel... I guess that might have been me last year. I tend to go late April or may, and usually stay at La Quinta with my dog, he loves the balcony. I usually go before they switch to a summer full menu . We went Thursday night and got the prime rib (comes with red potatoes and asparagus)for $28 , medium rare, it felt like a reasonable/great deal. Also got Their chili , it was awesome! Our waitress was very attentive and was able to clarify which items contained allergens. Maybe next time I can try that Tomahawk steak when it's back on the menu. read more

June 14, 2021. We stayed at the La Quinta suites and was sitting by the pool when Haley from Oceans 13 came and told us they served drinks by the pool if we wanted anything. The restaurant is hooked to the hotel, so my wife and I decided to go in for brunch. The decor is newly updated and very nice, the bar has lots of TVs and very inviting. We started off with the fried pickles (menu says chips) buy Haley informed us beforehand that they were spears, so we ordered them anyway. Delicious! We then shared the Oceanside flatbread (seafood pizza-ish) and the fish and chips. The flatbread was outstanding and the fish and chips was very tasty with the Ocean 13 sauce. Definitely check this place out, quite classy and inviting to snack, eat or hang out at the great bar. For drinks i had a Long Island iced tea and my wife had a Mai Tai, both very good (potent ) Our waitress Haley (I hope I'm spelling it correctly) was very very nice, knowledgeable and sweet, she was always making sure everything was perfect and she did a great job! My first observation going on Yelp was that this restaurant has 3.7 stars (prior to my review). I scrolled through some of the low ratings and discovered that apparently decor and carpet count as a legitimate reasons to give a bad review.... I thought this was about food and service. Well here is a well deserved 5 stars from my party of 9 yesterday during a very busy weekend (Ocean City Car Show). Jacob was our waiter and he was exceptional. He handled our large party including other tables amazingly. We ordered the crab dip, bruschetta, and the burrata toast. Everything was great. For our entree we ordered the tomahawk steak and the tomahawk steak on the special (toppings, crab cake, and shrimp). The presentation was great. It came on a wooden board and Jacob used a burner to melt the butter on top. What an amazing dish. The quality and price point were great. For dessert we got the bourbon bread pudding. Wow! One of our friends said it was the best steak they have ever had. Jacob was very kind and professional and although we had a very large party we never waited for anything. Great spot. I highly recommend. And going back to the decor- it was good. There's nothing wrong with the decor at all. Owners- Jacob needs to be recognized for his outstanding service. read more

Table for four at 5pm on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Right off the bat we should have known that something was wrong by the fact that there was no wait and less than half of the tables were occupied. We were lulled in by the siren song of imagery on their website, which turned out to be surprisingly inaccurate (too bad we didn't check reviews first...). First was the calamari appetizer, which came in a ~6" cast iron pan. The accompanying sauce bowl took up 1/3rd of the dish and the rest had a thin layer of tentacles and small rings, and the folks that ate it said it was a letdown. For the entrees, the two ladies had salads, one with shrimp added and one with salmon added. In both cases the proteins were completely devoid of color or seasoning, as if they had been steamed or boiled without any knowledge of the Maillard reaction or even seasoning basics such as salt and pepper. The salad greens were unappealing as well, according to the diners. The gentlemen had burgers, which again were nothing like the incredible website photos. One burger was the one with fries and crab on top among many other things, and the diner remarked "it may as well have not had any crab on it", which did not agree with the price premium for this selection. My burger was a traditional cheeseburger with LTO and mayo. It was nothing remarkable but frankly it was probably the only opportunity for them to get it right, and it was just ok. The service was decent- we didn't get bombarded with check-ins but we also didn't find ourselves waiting long when we wanted things like more water or the check. To sum up- we were disappointed, left wanting more quality, and not coming back. read more

I felt bad for our server. There was clearly a staffing issue, which I understand in this economy. But the pecan salmon and the stuffed shrimp were inedible. We were a little worried when we first arrived. It was 4:30 and there were maybe 6 people here and 1 server. But we decided to stay, and I'm so glad we did! Orange crushes were great! We got chicken tenders, fried pickles, crab dip, and loaded fries for appetizers and they were all delicious. The honey mustard with the chicken tenders tasted homemade. The steamed shrimp are great, the prime rib Caesar wrap is pretty good. The blacked chicken sandwich is amazing and the the New York strip with shrimp was to die for! The restaurant is filling up and the staff is abundant now. So glad we stayed. Probably one of the best meals we had in our week stay of OC.
