At my age I am not looking to be an Instagramer...but!! I just had an amazing meal at the 1945 Steak and Seafood restaurant on 24th Street Ocean City Maryland. The food is top notch. Of course, they have perfected their steaks. This is from someone who prides themselves in cooking steaks with multiple Weber grills and ovens. They knock it out of the park! So, I started with Carpaccio, which I make at home. I have only had it at in two other restaurants. Which included the original from Harry's Bar and Restaurant in Venice Italy. Harry's invented carpaccio. 1945's was perfect, and enough to split. I was tempted to have one of the steak offerings because everyone around me who ordering one, was savoring every bite. But I went for the duck breast. It was another perfect meal. Then came desert...carrot cake!! By this point in the meal, four people could have split an order of the carrot cake. It was very moist and flavorful...just decadent. I took most of it home. I have traveled extensively in the US and Europe for both business and pleasure. This restaurant ranks within my top 10!! Yes, you can take the kids. But frankly if you have kids, find someone to watch them and make this your date night restaurant. It has beautiful views of the bay and sunset. The wine list is amazing (Wine Spectator thinks so too!). You will not see the restaurant from 528. It is on the bay side, in the same building as Craft Beer and Pizza, on the top floor. They really should start a new yelp page for this restaurant, as my previous review was for the AYCE that used to be located here. Anyway - party of 9 with a reservation. Checked in with the hostess who somewhat struggled with checking us in but we knew the restaurant was on the 3rd floor. We were immediately sat and placed a drink order -- AJ (American college student) was our waiter. He was very attentive at first, but into the end of entree to dessert portion of the experience, the restaurant got busier and he had other tables as well. Anyway - ordered a smoked old-fashioned to start, which comes in a magician's box filled with smoke and is served. Flavor was very good and it was ultra smooth - one of the best OF I've had this year. For starters the table shared beef carpaccio, and a seafood flatbread -- both really good. As a first timer of the carpaccio I can say it was good, and the dressing on the arugula was a nice touch to add to the beef and baguette slices. For my entree I ordered the petit filet Oscar style with a side of brussel sprouts. The steak was cooked medium, but the Oscar style wasn't - it had no bernaise sauce along with the crab and asparagus. Made it really awkward in eating it. For dessert, we shared several amongst the table - bourbon cake, cheesecake, and carrot cake. The carrot cake was very good - large slice and very sweet. The bourbon cake was ok - but the bourbon flavor was drowned out by the berry compote that was on and under it. Would have made more sense to me - to compound the bourbon flavor with a bourbon maple cinnamon reduction. What do I know? The cheesecake was also really good. Overall - this place was great - I believe this is their first season, so if they can keep up the level of execution as with our trip, I can see them being in the conversation with Fagers and Sunset Grill as finer options on the island. read more

Great restaurant with nice vibe. Offers great views of Pacific Ave strip from its 3rd floor location. I like the upscale decor. Super friendly staff and management. The Management were very active in ensuring food arrived on time and that orders were correct. I ordered a 20oz bone in steak, medium-rare. It was not the right temp, but the restaurant quickly addressed it. The steak had great flavor and was extremely tender. The Manhattan I ordered was great. Bourbon was EH Taylor, but i could not remember which one. I look forward to my next visit. The lobster tail and claws were fantastic. A bit watery on the inside so it was little messy to eat the claws. The desert was spot on. They have a bourbon infused pound cake. Moist, sweet, and perfect for finishing the meal. Amazing from start to finish. We were greeted with a smile as we walked in at ground level. Sent upstairs where the hostess welcomed us and took us to our table looking over the canal and bay. It was a beautiful setting; the glass blocked the wind and you couldn't hear cars on the Coastal Highway. Our server AJ, a student at Salisbury University, took care of us as if he was a veteran server in the food industry. Attentive every step of the way without being over bearing. The food was out of this world. The filet was grilled to perfection. The crab cakes were no doubt one of the best I have ever had. The cost of the crab cakes $48 may appear a little pricey but it came with two sides. The sides were enough - and they did feed two people. They were more like shareables. The smoked Old Fashioned is an experience if you like them. The drink is delivered in a plexiglass box. The server then opens the box releasing the aroma of the Old Fashioned. I felt the spacing of the seating allowed for everyone to have their own space. You ARE NOT on top of each other. Final note: a family near had a person with a food allergy. The Chef, yes that is correct. The Chef came out to discuss with the person all the options available. Now that is attention to detail. Will definitely be returning. Went to the new Embers on a Monday night with a 7pm reservation. The service was great, our waitress was friendly and checked in a lot. The view and vibes were great, it's a really beautiful space! The food was hit or miss. Short rib arancini for starters was nice, had great flavor. I ordered an alcohol free butterfly pea tea drink and it was beautiful but not great tasting. My husband had wine and it was wine haha. For mains, my husband got the 10oz filet which he said was really nicely cooked. It came with a small pile of hot pickled peppers and butter. I was surprised there wasn't some sort of side that came with it. I ordered the crab cakes which were fine but burnt on the bottom, I just ate around the burned parts. For dessert with had a blueberry chocolate mousse that was really tasty but served in the weirdest little foil loaf pan. Overall we rated it a 7/10 which is pretty consistent for a restaurant in OC. Very overpriced pizza joint. They try to be fancy but the food is not good. The don't even serve a Bloody Mary. What bar or restaurant can't make a Bloody Mary. They don't serve a Orange Crush, which is a favorite of Ocean City Md. Tried to order a Aperol Spritz, which has been out for years, couldn't do that either. So basically they had 3 people for dinner with no alcohol purchased. Bad for the average check and tip. Their cheese board was good, I'll give them credit. Their Osso buco had a bad taste. Couldn't eat it. Everyone at my table tried the risotto and couldn't eat it. They had a mixed green that the waiter couldn't explain what was in it. I know it had Swiss chard but I couldn't eat it. Overall, a restaurant not worth trying. If y want a good meal, and are willing to pay a little more, try the Hobbit. Not cheap but they can cook. read more

I would really only come here if you love crab legs. I came to ocean city with my family and we really wanted crab legs. It was $40 for adults and about $20 for kids 12 and under. I like how the bring out the crab legs in a big bunch. Crab leg places in my area bring it in tiny batches and everyone scoops it up before I get to it. I would recommend eating the crab legs with lemon juice. At first, I ate it with butter and after that, all I could taste was butter. I didn't really enjoy anything else other than the seafood. Everything other than the crab legs tasted alright. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't that great. I just wished that the kids price was cheaper because the kids in my group didn't eat any seafood at all. My family whine up coming here by mistake. With so many seafood restaurants in close proximity to each other we were just confused which one we looked up. Nonetheless, it was seafood and that is what we wanted. Well this like the other low star seafood buffets in the area, this wasn't a winner for us. The restaurant is big and our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We sat by the window looking over the water. So now it goes down hill from here....The food was just nasty! Cold and tasteless. All the vegetables were swimming in butter! It was more non-seafood options that they should be ashamed of themselves for calling this place a seafood restaurant. They have shrimp over ice on the buffet and if you want "warm" shrimp, my waiter said to let him know and he will have it steamed. Wait a minute.... so they will steam an already cooked shrimp?! Then It will be rubbery! No thanks! Desserts taste store bought and the price you pay for this place, they should have more seafood and much better tasting food. read more

Let me start out by saying I am glad I have finally visited Embers. Sadly, I had BLU the night or two before and didn't realize how they were hand in hand? We waited a good bit on a Saturday; I think we finally sat at 9 pm. The place is a maze to get through, but that's understandable when you have a huge buffet. I liked the plates - they were pewter and came out piping hot. Plenty of options to eat and the food was rotated and nothing looked dried out or sitting out too long. (my first fear at buffets) I knew I had come to eat crab legs and shrimp, so I did. The line was very quick and got those items swiftly. My favorite part might have been the machine that spouts out melted butter an the machine that lets you spoon out your own mix or horseradish and cocktail sauce. I would say the crab legs and shrimp were cooked perfectly and tasted pretty good too. I ate as much as I could, but I think I could do better as the price didn't reflect what ate. Rather, I could've and SHOULDVE eaten more for the price I paid. I'm not worried that the buffet with drinks is 60$, but I should've eaten more or came more hungry. I have a hard time knowing I can go to Fagers and get a meal for cheaper. Overall, waiter and staff were quick and attentive, place was clean and food was pretty good. Wait time sucked. read more

It is not a Buffett any longer and it is so much more. Definitely a high end dinning choice in Ocean City worth trying. We had a filet, a bread course and my wife had risotto and vegetables which all were very good. It is on the 3rd floor of the building but there is an elevator if you need it. The view is nice IF you're on the bay side but we were seated on the other side which was completely empty. Our server couldn't have been nicer but the manager is extremely rude, unprofessional and clearly doesn't care about his customers. He was condescending when we expressed our disappointment with our table and even followed us downstairs to continue to try to say how he was right! Customer service is everything in the restaurant business so for those reasons I would not give it another chance or recommend this place. Caesar salad was a hunk of Romain lettuce with a little bit of dressing and three stale croutons surrounding it for $14.... The chicken Chesapeake looked like a breaded pork loin roll with some flakes of crab meat stuffed in the middle, with absolutely no taste.... A totally new Embers! My wife and I are still talking about our Embers experience the other night. We both really feel they have "knocked it out of the ballpark" with this latest version. From the drinks, appetizers, entrees, the service and atmosphere, it truly makes it the #1 dining experience in the Lewes, Rehoboth, OC corridor. The menu has great food that will appeal to everyone with a nice range on the prices so folks can have that special date night, bring their whole family or come more often during their vacation. We cannot say enough about our experience at the newly redone Embers. To be honest I've never been before! The design is beautiful and the view amazing. We had a group of ten friends who haven't seen each other in a while and we were rushed at all. The food was outstanding and well presented. Everyone (all 10!) enjoyed their meal choice. Embers is a completely new restaurant. The space was beautiful and very open to the outside with lovely sunset view s. We had mostly starters to eat. I had the mussels and clams in a delicious broth...my only recommendation would be to serve them with a spoon to slurp the broth. One of my companions had the crab salad. It was beautiful and she said it was delicious as well. Another diner had the peach BBQ wings and a cheese pizza, both met with his approval. My husband had the Beef Wellington pizza..very unique and delicious as well. My only Disappointment was that the seasonal cobbler was not yet available. There wasn't a wait to get in, no buffet, all new tables/chairs, and HUGE wood fire pizza ovens (best ever!!). This was our first opportunity to try the new iteration of The Embers restaurant. It used to be a rather unappealing AYCE buffet. The re-do is being presented as upscale, chef quality. Our horrible experience started when they seated us in a literal wind tunnel-freezing cold. And noisy-with a big mesh curtain on one side and plastic flaps on the other. I had long sleeves under a thick cardigan, socks and closed shoes and I wished I'd had gloves-none of it was enough to be comfortable. I wanted to try the whole fish to compare it to the (fantastic) one at Fagers. I inquired about what sauce came with it and the answer was "none" ok...We had a very sweet waiter (the one bright spot) and he suggested he could get me some soy-ginger sauce. Great! It comes with Ratatouille, which I don't like. Can I substitute for something else? "no". My husband ordered a beer and it was served in a bottle. (upscale place?) So, he asked for a glass and after a rather long wait, he got one-not cold much less frosted. ok...this is not boding well. The fish arrives and it is gorgeous-picture perfect-wow! lovely char. Inside, there is some nicely cooked flesh, but quite a bit of raw as well. No biggie. The sauce came on the side in a tiny container-about a tablespoon. It was nothing more exciting than bottled soy sauce from the grocery store. The Ratatouille, as expected, was awful-and consisted of sliced squash inside a raw acidic tomato sauce. The risotto tasted rancid: I took one bite and spit it out. The waiter had informed my husband to get his chop "medium" per the chef's suggestion so it would be juicy and tender. So, he said fine. It turned out to be about 1/3 undercooked to the point of raw and inedible. When we were about finished, a manager came by and asked us if everything was alright. I had not planned to say anything (nor had my husband) but since he asked, I explained about the rancid taste of the risotto (uneaten) and hubby showed him the raw meat. He took the risotto away to find out what was wrong. We were impressed...until...nana...crickets...so I guess all of that was just for show. There was no follow up, no adjustment to the bill...and insult to injury, they charged $5.00 for the sauce. There are places that don't work out well, but you give them another time or two in case it was just an off night. And then there are places like this that make you feel that they have no concern for their customers and are just geared up to make money from tourists who won't be back for a year or more anyway. We are locals-we go out to eat everyday. We spend a lot of money on dining as it is one of the things we can still enjoy given our age and other factors. We believe strongly in supporting the many wonderful places in this town-some excellent owners and chefs, company groups that are committed to quality. The Embers and the restaurants under their umbrella have lost our business and have left a VERY bad taste in our mouths, both literally and figuratively. read more

If you are a big eater this is your kind of restaurant. The Thanksgiving buffet was your typical holiday fare. Staff was pleasant, it was a bit crowded(obviously) furniture a bit outdated. Nothing to get excited over. read more

Crab legs!!!!!! I love Embers, I come here every time in Ocean City, they have some of the best crab legs and some of the most handsome waiters. The wait time is fun because I'm at the bar ordering a yummy fruity drink! They also have delicious clams and the fried chicken is amazing for no reason! read more

If you're here for the crab legs, you're in the right place. They were plenty and never ran out on a super busy Saturday evening. I had their steamed shrimp as well and a few other hot selections like fried fish, grilled chicken and stuffed shrimp. All pretty good for a buffet and the general value. Desert to me seemed pretty bad, all doughy cakes that were way over sweet and ice cream that was watery and not creamy. We had drinks that were pretty decent and had good amount of alcohol. Service was a bit slow. Although we were seated quickly with yelp waitlist option, the wait for drinks, check and other small things was long. They were busy though so I get that. Don't be overwhelmed by the amount of people waiting though, the restaurant is huge and they are fast. read more

The all you can eat buffet was the best. Highly recommended if you want to stuff your face with the best eats. Very friendly staff, fresh food but drinks are not that great. They do have a great corona beer special! So if in ocean city give them a try the buffet is about $35 per person. We enjoyed and stuffed our faces. read more

Train your waiters better, because for such a high price menu you need to explain what the food is it's a chop house, meat should be what the servers know. Disappointed. If you're a big eater and love seafood, this is a decent choice. Tons of snow crab, peel and eat shrimp, raw oysters, fried clams, fried shrimp, etc. nice idea for a group of big eaters or picky eaters because everyone can pick their own. Lots of tables and the service was attentive. For us, it wasn't worth the $40 each - we didn't eat enough to cover that. read more
