This place was amazing!! We started with the Oysters Rockefeller and the Clam Chowder Croquettes. Soooo yummy. For main we had fish and chips, the poached halibut and fried fish sandwiches. Can I just say the French Fries are like crack - We couldn't get enough. We also tried the Elderflower Prosecco and the Ebb Tide. Let's also mention Bruno, our amazing server. He went above and beyond and couldn't have been nicer. All around - fantastic way to celebrate our daughters birthday. We brought my in-laws (visiting from Maryland) to Halcyon for a special occasion dinner this past weekend. I cannot recommend Ocean & Acre after our first experience. When we walked in for our reservation @6:30, there was no one to greet us. My husband & son walked half way into the dining area before a hostess realized we were there. We had a table of 7 guests. We ordered apps, cocktails, salads & adult entrees for everyone (although we had 2 children at the table). The oysters were great but thats where the compliments ended! Of 3 side salads ordered, only 1 arrived. After reminding the server about the missing sides, a few minutes goes by and 2 more arrive but they have incorrect dressings. Main entrees arrive and one comes out with yet another side salad instead of the fried rice side? The food was bland & presentation was missing completely. A $21 order of grilled shrimp came out on a blank plate. No garnish, no vegetables or starch? My sons $16 burger was a single patty & missing the aioli sauce noted on menu. The restaurant had only 2 tables filled. My FIL asked for 2 minor requests, please keep his iced tea filled & salt & pepper for the table. Neither request was fulfilled. My husband finally got up & went to the service counter to ask for grinders. I am at a loss for why a new restaurant in a very busy development would not be ready to serve by now. We we're really excited to try ocean an acre. We went for my moms birthday I had a 4:30 reservation on a Sunday. It was a beautiful day and the doors were open so that was very nice, it wasn't crowded at all. The service was extremely slow and food was unimpressive. fish and chips were greasy, lobster roll was very small. Well the entrées came out before the appetizers and then we're like OK just hold the calamari until we're done with the entrées and we'll have the calamari afterwords well about two seconds later the calamari came out. The food was prepared very well and the prices were good but service was awful. The server was very soft spoken and her middle name was sorry. For a place that is trying to have an upscale atmosphere and service, it failed. The food and drinks were good. But everything else was out of a bad comedy about a restaurant. Starting with this was a Monday night. This is sadly the second time I've let this establishment get my money. The service, the food, the management on duty... all below par. Our potatoes with the steak were tasteless and hard, the pork shoulder was all fat, and the drinks must have come from the west cost with how slow they were poured by an empty bar. Waitress brought each of us a fork, no napkins, no water. Went to bar for napkins. Ordered mains, another drink asked for water . Drinks came, asked for water. ............................. Mains came, asked for silverware and napkins, and water! I think you can figure the rest. Food was good but not $300 for 4 good with the service that was provided. Management was mostly at fault here as waitress can't control the level of some service. Also watched the servers and cooks arguing at service window. We had THE best date night! Great staff, great drinks, and even greater food!! Our waitress Eilen was so sweet and made sure we were comfortable from the second we sat down. We took all of her recommendations and definitely would do it again! We were able to sit outside under the heaters and in front of the fire to finish our drinks after our meal as well. It was the perfect end to a perfect night! I can so appreciate every thought & detail that went into this place. So well done. Hushpuppies- look like hushpuppies... notttt hushpuppies. Zero taste, slightly raw, needed a lot of salt and way more flavor. Disappointed. Mussels- also not very flavorful. Cooked well and good bread, but not much flavor at all. Broccolini- douseddddd in oil. Could barely taste anything else besides the oozing oil. Overall very disappointed, as I'd wanted to try this place for a while. The location and decor is beautiful. Had dinner here last week with the family. It's in a great location however they need to maybe think about getting another chef on board. Ordered the fish and it was bland and tasteless as was the rest of the dish. The $40 lobster tail was ok but a little on the dry side. The Brownie we ordered for desert was also very dry and not moist like Brownies should be. As soon as I put the spoon into the brownie it fell apart. It took a bit longer than expected for everyone's food to come which was strange since the place was not packed out at all. I love Halcyon and have been there many times but I have never tried Ocean & Acre. It has beautiful decor and a nice outdoor patio with fireplace. Our server was very friendly and informative. We started off with the crab noodle cake split et which was amazing! For dinner We order the bacon wrapped scallops which were great and I had the Pan seared salmon with jalapeño honey glaze. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We skipped dessert but it was a really great dinner. I cannot wait to go back. read more

Attempted to go a few weeks ago and was told they didn't take walk ins. Decided to try again. Made a reservation. Was seated quickly but server took awhile to come. We ordered an appetizer while we decided on our entrees. 15 minutes later, after eating the appetizer, our server finally came. I said we were ready to order and he seemed either surprised or shocked. Maybe he forgot we didn't order. I ordered the swordfish and my 2 sides were a Caesar salad and potatoes. I said the salad could come out first. He said it comes on the plate. Why can't it come out first? Husband ordered surf and turf. He also ordered clam chowder. The soup never came. Our server was near us so I got his attention and asked. He said he put it in to come out with his meal. Wtf. Who does that? Our food came out right away and Husband declined the soup. His surf and turf looked like it was for a doll. It was tiny. My swordfish was ok. I said I would give the place another shot but Husband said he wouldn't. I think the server was stretched too thin with working the outdoor patio and then our area on the opposite of the building. Sorry Ocean and Acre. I've been here about 6 times now and it's either hit or miss. Made reservations last night for my wife's birthday. Arrived and Host was sitting looking at his phone. He finally noticed us and we were seated. Table ordered drinks and waitress spilled soda on my pants. Mixed drinks were more ice than drink. Lobster bisque was barely warm and food was ok. We visited your location last Thursday and were not happy with the service we received. When we arrived we were told to wait he was cleaning our table. When he returned the manager told us that we had to wait for 30 minutes at least ! When I told him we were already promised a table he got upset ! Not good but we were hungry ! The manager sat us and no less than a few minutes the manager was seating anyone who walked in the door ! Why did we get such a rude greeting ??? We felt discriminated on...also not good ! I doubt we will return. The manager was rude to the guy who was wanting to seat us and looked at us without a smile as he passed our table ! Yes the location was busy but a lot of open seats ! First time here...my boss told me it was mediocre. My husband and I still wanted to try it and form our own opinion. I made a reservation for three adults on OpenTable, put in the request that we be seated inside. When we arrived, there were multiple tables open inside. The hostess started to seat us outside... I had to correct her. I let that go. The Bar Situation: Our wait person came over to take my drink order, the rest of my party had not arrived yet, and I asked their opinion between two different mixed drinks from their menu. They gave me their opinion, so I chose the margarita. When it arrived the color was extremely light and when I tasted it, it was all lemon juice. Holy crap, it was awful! Literally tried to push through drinking it... Couldn't do it. When the wait person came back, I told them that I needed a different drink and explained the problem... They looked at it and agreed that it did not look like it was made correctly. I told them I did not want another mixed drink, I only give one chance for the bartender to get a mixed drink correct from **the restaurant menu**. I asked them, between the two Chardonnays on the menu, which one was more buttery. They told me Whitehaven. When the wine came, it was Pinot Grigio. UGH! I didn't have the patience or energy to correct my drink once again... So begrudgingly I drank it. I then ordered a Chardonnay and finally got what I ordered. Side note, my wait person did personally remake the margarita... They tended bar on occasion and knew it was not correct the first time. They tried to make it right, it was fine, still not a great margarita. I politely drank a portion of it, and left the rest on the table. The wait person gets an "A" for effort in trying to making that right. Thank you. Dinner: my husband ordered the salmon, he liked it but was not blown away. His daughter and I both ordered the lobster roll. I was super excited, I love lobster rolls! Unfortunately, it fell waaay below expectations. It had literally *no flavor*. Literally. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was really hoping that the food would counterbalance the terrible drinks experience. For the $140 price tag, not worth the money. So disappointed. If you follow me at all on Yelp, you know I can typically balance out my reviews, good with the bad. In this case, I got nothing. We won't be back to this restaurant. It's so close to our house, and I had such high hopes for this new experience. To the owners, please take this review in the spirit in which it's written.
