This is a special occasion restaurant through and through. From the moment you enter, you are surrounded by high quality interior design that celebrates the Georgia wilderness, expensive wine bottles in their cellar, oysters on ice and servers waiting on you with the utmost care and consideration. It almost bordered on too much attention since our server boasted about how much they wanted us to feel catered to, but that's what you're paying for, so be prepared. Food-wise, I loved the pimento fritters that reminded me of arancini, but gooey since there's no rice. The spice from the pickled jalapeño mixed with the sweet honey-esk sauce paired super well with the fried cheese. I think they could elevate the dish even more by adding sprouts on top, cream in the middle, and freshly toasted crostini or small buttermilk biscuits to soak up the rest of that jelly. The shrimp and grits were also delectable, with a good amount of shrimp and sausage on the corn and grits. I enjoyed the hint of spice from the jalapeño and the richness of the grits. My only criticism is the amount of oil in each bite. If they tone down the fat and add a side salad or other crisp, green vegetable, I think it would be perfect. read more

we visited this location for Thanksgiving, 2025.. just a heads up. They do buffet style dinner on Thanksgiving. That is the only CON. we stood in line for over 20 minutes to get food each time we wanted to get something. Which is a bummer because normally when we eat out for Thanksgiving, we want to be served. However, I will say they did not run out of food, we were able to eat as much as we wanted it. We just had to be patient and wait in line.. The customer service was top-tier although they were SUPER busy. The drinks however, WEAK. I had 2 mimosas felt nothing so I switched over and started drinking lemon drops, and only felt a small buzz. Drinks are watered down.. other than that this location was really good to us and we enjoyed our Thanksgiving lunch/dinner here. read more

Ray's at Killer Creek has been a favorite for my husband and I for the last 13 years. We had our rehearsal dinner there 12 years ago. Every special occasion we can make it 30 minutes north to celebrate, we have. It's held a special place to us. Unfortunately, we just ate our last meal there. The entire experience was one of the worst we've ever had at a restaurant. It was practically empty for a Friday night and service was very slow. Our server was nice, but not as attentive as expected with only a few tables at once. Upon arrival, the hostess told me we needed to wait a few minutes to be seated... which didn't make sense with how empty the restaurant was. Once seated, after 5 minutes the server came by to greet us. We ordered drinks and then it took a while to come back for meals. No specials were mentioned, we placed the order and 30 minutes later the entree came, though salads came after maybe 5-10 minutes. While waiting for entree to come, the manager passed directly beside the table and turned his back (the first time it was only one other table in the section and the second we were the only one) to walk by. For an 8:45 arrival for a late dinner, it took 5-7 minutes to be sat, until 9:10 to place the order, 9:15 for the order to be put in and until about 9:45/9:50 for a steak, fish and side to come. Once dinner came, it was decent overall but the potatoes with the fish weren't cooked - and there was no one for me to share that with because once food was dropped, the server didn't return. My husband's steak was burnt on the ends, which the fish did, too, unfortunately. When the server cleared the table, it took her 5 minutes to come back when she dropped the check and asked if we wanted a chocolate dessert on them. At that point, there had been no discussion or real welcoming of being there, ONLY the server coming by despite watching the manager wander the restaurant aimlessness the whole time (including adjusting a chair beside us and door on one of the private rooms), no check for quality of food and then a speed at the end at 10:02 p.m. once we got the check. The person who worked the hardest of all who we see was the curly-haired bus boy who seemed to be all over the place and working his tail off. My husband also mentioned his cocktail was made well. Unfortunately, the rest was very disappointing which we absolutely hate for a place that's been so special to us... and, is a restaurant that's quite pricey - especially for the quality of meal we received this evening. read more

The offering didn't compare to the Bellagio or Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas for that price but this ain't Las Vegas. There were several things that caught my attention, if you say that you are severing Prime Rib and you are actually severing eye of round don't advertise PRIME RIB. One of your souf chefs tried to convince me that was Prime Rib. I should have taken his name and picture. Now the shrimp and grits, well chopping up shrimp and adding some to grits is new for me, the chef should be ashamed to place that on any menu. And ham from a can? Really? No more bread pudding. I've had mixed experiences here. One time it was fantastic the other it was meh with a fantastic price tag! Make no mistake this is a steak house. Dark wood, low lighting, white table clothes... all the way to the waiters in suits. The first time i came here was for a work dinner and everything from the aps to the desert was pretty good. This experience was very different than my first one. My first experience was with a gentleman from the islands and I was very excited to come back. But this experience was like night and day. Luanne was my server and she wasn't attentive at all. My friend got stuck in traffic and she was good while it was just me but when my friend came I barely saw her and was unable to get help. My steak was very over cooked and I wasn't able to get her attention for that until about 25 mins later. My friend finished her entire meal. I couldn't get my water refilled, it took forever to get the Check. It was honestly very off putting and I didn't even get to have dinner because by the time I was able to flag her down it was time for us to leave. This place is great. My friends and I chose bar seating as there was no wait and it turned out to be the right choice. Bar area ambience is more intimate, service prompt, and we got to meet an amazing bartender and exceptional mixologist (I believe his name was Isaak). This guy knew some oddball drinks and aperitifs we asked about and not only did he make them for us but all the drinks he made were top level. Food and in particular baked oysters were absolutely delicious. This place is fire. read more

No more Valet parking which was always a touch of class. 7:00 reservation waited 45 minutes to be seated. Took forever to get drink orders. They no longer do the complimentary bread basket, have to pay for it and it's just two rolls. Appetizers arrived before drinks 10 minutes later. Took forever waiting for salads then entree's arrived BEFORE the salad (salad arrived 5 minutes after), and the sides took another 5-10 minutes. Asparagus' hollandaise sauce was cold gel and looked like it was squeezed from a tube. Sides were warm not hot and cooled quickly. Rays has been a hallmark of Atlanta, so sad another era has ended. On the night of 9/4/24 our waiter Thomas, Tom as we called him was amazing/attentive and just everything you could want in a server/waiter. Easter Brunch. Excellent service. My wife and I were seated in a small side room, which we preferred for a quieter, more intimate experience. We enjoyed everything we tried, although the bacon was a little disappointing. As mentioned in a previous review, the Prime Rib was also less than stellar...and for the price, it should have been. I enjoyed both varieties of Salmon and found lots of vegetables to accompany the wide variety of meats, which are sometime lacking on buffets. We enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was festive and the waitstaff jovial. We felt Ray's on Easter was worth the 50 mile drive from Ellijay and will return. read more

The birthday crew pulled up to celebrate my cousin's bday during Sunday brunch. The brunch is $50/pp and is well worth it! They had all the classic dishes (eggs, bacon, pastries) PLUS a few specialty items like Sone grits, shrimp and grits, crab cakes and made-to-order omelettes! My favorite part of the buffet (excluding bottomless mimosas) was the designated staff member solely responsible for cutting the steak! French toast was a little too sweet but the peach cobbler was truly to die for! For it to be our waiter's (Marcelo) first brunch service, he did extremely we'll. He kept the mimosas coming and even did a little something special for the birthday girl during checkout. **Shoutout to no gratuity being added! I understand the need but also personally hate being bullied into tipping! ‍** The manager came to our table to check in twice during the meal and even sung HBD with us! Went for our last-minute anniversary dinner (2nd time eating here), and it was the right call. The service from the host, to our servers, and dammit - even the reserved, yet attentive and pleasant food runner, all provided us with one of the best dining experiences we've had in as long as we can remember. The french onion soup was great. My prime rib might have been one of the best I've had. My wife said she really enjoyed her salmon. The bread rolls might have tried to undermine some of our merriment with their mediocrity, but its efforts were drowned out by everything and everyone else's awesomeness. Thank you, Ray's! Reminiscent of a sponge soaked in oil or butter the dinner roll was awful. What I did not know however, was that the most disappointing part of the meal was yet to follow. Either the much touted Spring Mountain Farms chicken was prepared incorrectly, or it is an inferior product. To cut through the chicken breast required the sword of Damocles. The chicken was inedible. There is no substitute for Bell & Evans, producers of the finest chicken breast anywhere at any price. Good salad. Refreshingly light iced tea. Sautéed green beans were fine. Cheesecake dessert was smooth and flavorful. Adequate service. The private meeting room lets in too much noise from the main dining room. I don't usually give out 5 star reviews, but this one is well deserved. We went here for my girlfriend's birthday and her parents anniversary. We had reservations for 7:30, got there a little early and were seated without a problem. The staff gave them cards signed by everyone for the special occasions. The person serving us was Genesis and she was so much fun, such a uplifting personality. The other staff member approached our table to ask about our experience and to make sure that we were take care of. Way to make people feel comfortable! There was a gentleman that sang happy birthday, his voice is amazing! We sat outside, the view is nice and the weather was a bit cool that evening. The food was pretty decent, i had some chicken dish, it came with linguine, my only complaint is that i wish it was more creamy, like in a white creamy sauce. My girlfriend had shrimp scampi and i can say the same about the noodles being a little dry. Overall, the experience was amazing and we were very happy with the choice of location. We went for brunch, and plan on going back. This is a great location to visit if you ever get a chance. I loved our waitress, and loved our food. One of the things about this, we did brunch and I am not sure what the rest of their menu is like, but the food was delightful and I really enjoyed that they offered us a fresh cinnamon roll, bringing it right to our table. They had a included balcony area which is right over the creek, but that area was closed the morning we went. They have a private parking lot, which makes it super convenient. We had a reservation when we went, and it is heavily suggested to have one as well, so if you plan on going you should likely get a reservation before you plan on going in. read more

This is a restaurant that our family has frequented as a go to for special events. I'm not a fan of paying a fee (50$/head) to hold reservations, which no one does anymore, but it's their process. We went to celebrate with my mother from out of town for one of my son's HS graduations. Immediately a previous server said hello. Let's get down to business. My husband ordered a glass of wine. It NEVER arrived. Our server never told us her name. I said I would like a drink a bit later and she never inquired again. My husband actually stood up and poured our table water for all of us. He left the carafe on the table, which when she did come around which was rare, she said she had to take away bc she would get in trouble. We had to ask other servers several times to help us bc she just was NEVER around and all she would say is "ABSOLUTELY ", to each request. We did not feel heard. We piled all of our appetizer plates up for her and they sat for quite some time. We also ended up piling up our own dinner plates. It was as if we were doing just all the normal duties we could have done at home. She really ruined the dinner. We were there almost 2 hrs. The meal was well over 300$, and we were willing to pay more had she brought my husband's wine and ever asked about the drink I mentioned I would like. The problem here is that she was NOT present for the meal. We couldn't even find her for the most simple requests. She never asked if our meals were okay. My daughter's NY strip was not hot. I will say my meal tasted delicious and I believe everyone enjoyed the food. This is NOT the same restaurant we are used to. I always give the most honest reviews and try and stay away from negative comments, This one was unavoidable. Sadly, they have lost faith in us. I grew up on the original Rays on the River and HAVE LOVED having this close, but living in downtown Roswell we have too many options. Avoid this restaurant if great service is your goal. We have too many options here. A manager should have checked on us. We made no scene. I left notes on our receipt and told the bartender (only person around) that our service was unacceptable. The food was very bland on all the items and the rationing at the carving station was hilarious. Even the bread pudding had zero flavor whatsoever. We had to ask our server for everything twice. This was my first visit post COVID. I have always loved their Sunday brunch and now it's back. The French toast, smoked salmon, bacon, prime rib, and pork loin were great. The scrambled eggs, not so much. I always love the creamy scrambled eggs served on brunch buffets at high end restaurants and hotels. These eggs were disappointing. They were overcooked and very dry. The omelette also tasted dry. There was a generous amount of diced smoked ham but little cheddar cheese in the middle of the omelette. I also had to wait for them to bring out more scrambled eggs when I first arrived. The dessert section was a refreshing way to end the meal. The small chocolate mousse and key lime pie cups were lite, sweet and not too filling. The service was decent but not on par with other high end restaurants in the area. For example, I was not served a soft drink refill until my glass was almost empty. The server had to be reminded by the manager to clear the straw wrapper from my table, and when I spilled a little sauce on the table, it was never cleaned. When they cleared my plates each time I went back to the buffet, they provided a new folded napkin but no silverware. Finally, as I was leaving, the hostess didn't thank me or invite me to return, and the prices appear to have gone up. It's now $50 for the Sunday brunch. If I were to return more frequently, I would hope to see the service improve, the scrambled eggs not overcooked, and maybe another high end item, such as eggs Benedict added. If I were only evaluating the service, I would give them 3 stars, but some of the food tasted fresh and flavorful enough to merit 4 stars. Cheers read more

We went here for the first time last night for Thanksgiving. We booked an earlier reservation for 530 because of our 15 month old baby....with reservation we waited 50 minutes and weren't even on their upcoming list to be seated. I had to go up there and say something and the hostess was about to tell me to wait but the manager overheard and saw I was holding the baby and he sat us in 10 minutes. They ran out of plates and we had to wait for them to be washed. You had to request rolls and the server was hard to find which then made refill drinks hard to get. The food was nothing special and they struggled to keep it fresh either bringing out too much or not enough. Online menu had amazing looking desserts, but most of them were out except for the brownies and stale cookies. The ambiance was chaotic like people had never eaten before and rushing for food. Beautiful, romantic restaurant located in Alpharetta on Foe Killer Creek. We were seated immediately on a Friday night, as there was no wait/need for reservations! The food at Ray's is great. We shared the spinach artichoke appetizer with crispy pita chips, as well as the whipped potatoes and asparagus sides. The chicken picatta entree was delicious! Very fresh and great flavor. The NY Strip and BBQ Shrimp Combo was also good. It came topped with crispy onion rings that were amazing. However, it only came with 3 shrimp and I wouldn't call the sauce it was served with "BBQ".... however, overall Ray's was an amazing experience and we will definitely be back for a nice night out. read more

I hosted a group of 12 friends at Ray's Killer Creek yesterday evening. Ray's has always been a dependable restaurant and well worth the higher prices for the food, service, and ambiance. Unfortunately, last night, many of us did not have that great experience. Ray's was recently sold to an investment group with the promise that none of the three restaurants would change. Had only one of us experienced a problem, I'd say it was a fluke, however several of us had essentially the same problem. I'm going to back up a little with some background. I help facilitate events for a meetup group and often have 3 or 4 dinners per month with the group. Ray's has always been a favorite for happy hours as well as steak specials. So our visit yesterday was expected to be just as good as it had been in the past. I fear that the new owner group has sacrificed some of the previous quality in an effort to recoup the expense of purchasing the three restaurants from Ray. I set this evening up so the group would be able to enjoy the Spring 3-course $39 prix fixe menu. The challenges started with this. I had called the restaurant to confirm the reservation from OpenTable and to ensure that the special menu would be available last night. I was assured that it would. Upon receiving our menus, there was no mention of the special, that I was assured would run until at least the end of May. There was no specials menu either. I spoke to the maitre d' and was told that the chef had said they were out of some ingredient, so he said to not put the specials menu on the table. I mentioned to her that the group was here for that menu and asked if there was something that could be done. She said she'd talk to the chef. About 5 minutes later, the wait staff delivered the special menu, encased in the vinal sleeve (so it was clear that they didn't just put them together) and were already ready to distribute. There was no mention of any unavailable ingredients. Most of us ordered the special. Draw your own conclusions about why they didn't present the special menu to our party. I'll reserve my opinion from here. Our food was delivered in an appropriate amount of time for a table of 12, however the wait staff completely botched giving the correct meals to our group. It took a few minutes to get it straightened out. They apparently didn't care to realize that some were blackened and others broiled. The food was not even luke-warm. As I I said before, it came out in a reasonable account of time, so it wasn't as of the food had been sitting for any length of time in the kitchen. One of my shrimp was severely undercooked. None of this is characteristic of Ray's before the new ownership. I will point out that the restaurant was only 1/3 full, so it wasn't a matter of the kitchen being too busy either.
