I brought my mom for dinner and she had the watermelon salad and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the lobster roll, which was tasty and generously covered in butter. Finally had a chance to visit Ocean & Acre and it didn't disappoint! It is located at the Halcyon which has so many options and definitely is worth giving a try. The vibes are amazing, they have a nice patio and overall we had a great experience. Service started out a little rocky, but got better towards the end. We started off with the hush puppies as an appetizer and they were pretty good. Not the best, but worth trying. For my entree I had the shrimp and grits and my wife had the burger. Both were really good. Some of the best shrimp and grits I've had in Atlanta and it was hearty. Overall, a healthy, good seafood choice. They jumped the shark (or more like oyster) for my 1st ever visit. We arrived 90 minutes into the National Oyster Day celebration event (which advertised walk-ins would be welcomed), and we were denied a table by the host. He shared with my party that the manager had instructed him to tell customers they were no longer accepting walk-ins, that they were way behind in service, and there was no opportunity to accept reservations for a future time slot later in the afternoon before the end of their advertised oyster day event. We did get some mussels that had some white circular marks on them that made me quite uncomfortable and the kitchen was quick to fix that. The hush puppies were on the smaller side and so they did feel a bit overpriced at 9$ but the taste was absolutely delicious. And I would definitely order this again if I had to return. -water : I never review water but this water tasted really fresh and good. And the cups they came in were cute and heavy. Brand new place that just opened up at the Halcyon. Same as all the other shops, this place is over priced for what we paid for. It makes up for it because of the decor and service. Those two were pretty top notch. Service was great through and through. We ordered a dip, which is served with housemade chips but was super salty! We also ordered fish and chips, and a dish made with mixed seafood. Mostly fish, clams, mussels, one large shrimp and one bay scallop. Scallop was perfectly cooked, I wish I had more. The large shrimp was slightly undercooked and had a yummy texture to it, also tasted like fish so it may have started to go a little bad. The rest of it was delicious and a nice sized portion. For two people expect to pay around $65 with the right amount for tip, this was only lunch. It's a nice place for dinner. Nestled between the play park and Kilwins, currently, is Ocean and Acre. Plenty of parking around the side and front of the area and a parking garage and valet. Once inside you will be transported to a seaside escape with ship lack and paddle boards a plenty. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately upon entering as we were coming from a family event. We were seating in the private dining area which is open, but can be closed off via sliding glass doors. Reservations made in advance were easy for our planner and accommodating. There is a raw bar area and plenty of community style sitting throughout the establishment. I ordered the lobster bisque as this is my go to for a place like this!! It was divine. The best balance of flavors and made you feel good inside. I'd have to say it was on the small side as I asked it for my main and was not asked if I wanted a bigger size, because I would have taken it. For the rest of my party the fish and chips, lobster roll (warmed), the crab cake croquette, and the kids Mac and cheese with fries :) were a hit. For drink I had the Elderflower and it was crisp and refreshing - Prosecco on a Monday afternoon is key! Service was great and knowledgeable of the menu. Menu is extensive but seems well placed. Waters were always filled and everyone was taken care. Great touch with the kid's coloring pad and crayons, they give a little animal toy with it! Both my kids were just smitten! I don't live close, but if I'm in the area for an event or planned dinner in Alpharetta, I will try again for sure. read more

Enjoyed so much that I forgot to take any photos of the food (except menu). Great outdoor patio (not covered) . Bar has both indoor and outdoor seating (via garage doors). Dirty martini was fabulous. Other highlights: Raw oysters (great accouterments). Lobster roll (they offer both hot and cold, I chose cold and it was great), also came on a regular brioche roll, no longer on the croissant. I've been wanting to venture to this place for a while now and was finally able to this past weekend. It was a beautiful day and the weather was warm so we chose to sit outside. The ambiance is beautiful and omg that fireplace is amazing but after a while we decided to switch to indoor seating due to the weather becoming breezy. I thought we would lose the "beachy" vibe however indoors did not disappoint! Shout out to the interior decorator! Onto the food... Started with 6 Grilled Alabama oysters which were absolutely Yum but so small especially for the price. The calamari was delicious and not overly chewy with a nice light crunch and the added okra was a nice touch. Ordered the black garlic hanger steak and frites medium but believe that the steak came a little under it was so chewy and lacked much salt! Visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon because I was craving grouper and wine! I strongly recommend the Burata with the red pepper pesto. The flavors unfolded with surprising delight. I can't quite describe the flavors but I know it was very tasty. It seemed like a waste to leave the extra pesto but we had a full meal arriving. My grilled grouper with butter and capers was nested on mashed potatoes and fresh broccoli. My only suggestion would be to present the grouper separate but that's just my preference. My husband ordered grilled scallops which he said was really good. We topped off the meal with a shared crème brûlée. We will definitely be back to try more of this amazing menu. read more

It was too cold of a day to sit outside, but their patio area with the fireplace, and comfy chairs and gondola adorned with flowers looked so good. I would definitely come back for a few drinks on a warmer day. My friend and I ordered shrimp and grits, and salmon with roasted veges and mashed potatoes. The salmon was perfectly cooked, seasoned and flavored but the real winner was the shrimp and the grits. The shrimp had a cajun barbeque sauce with it and the grits were creamy and well seasoned. We originally came to Halcyon to walk around and enjoy a 65 degree day. We stopped by Thousand Hills for a boozy coffee, then saw that the outdoor dining area at Ocean & Acre was empty. Hubs and I looked at each other and decided it was lunch time. We were greeted by the one of the friendliest hostesses I've ever come in contact with. We haven't dined at many restaurants during Covid, but when we do, it's always outdoors or rooftop. O&A's outdoor space is beautiful, so dining there was a no brainer. Since we had our pick, we sat in front of the fire pit. It was perfect! We decided to get appetizers and share an entree which ended up being the right amount of food. I ordered the lobster bisque and he, the shaved salad. Our appetizers took a really long time despite the restaurant being mostly empty. His salad was super fresh and he loved the dressing. My bisque wasn't very good but I ate it anyway. The bisque didn't taste like lobster at all and was more like a broth. We shared the fish and chips and it was legit. The fish and fries were both fried perfectly and came out hot. We had 3 large pieces of fish and plenty of fries for two. The malt vinegar gastrique was very good. I asked for more. Tried this place for the first time and was very underwhelmed with the food. For the price of everything the quality wasn't quite there, I would definitely recommend going to any other restaurant in Halcyon as there are better options. Even though it took forever to get our food, and there were some inconveniences after ordering I will say one positive was our server was very kind, and tried her best to make things right. I also enjoyed the ambiance even though everything else was subpar. The hubby and I went to dinner with some friends. It was a very hot and humid day. It was just as hot inside as it was outside. We asked the hostess about the AC and her only solution was to give us extra menus to fold into fans. Half way thru our meal the fire alarms went off. Not 1 member of the staff came to our table or anyone else's table to explain what was happening. The alarm went off after approximately 10 minutes. There was only a handful of people in the restaurant but the service was super slow. We called for a waiter more times then he voluntarily checked on us. We ordered Hush Puppies for an appetizer and it took 20 minutes to get the appetizers. They weren't hot, they were warm. We had to stop the waiter from leaving our table so we could order our entrée. I ordered the NOLA Shrimp and Grits, the smoked bacon on top of the dish was so soft it looked raw. Also the shrimp had not been deveined. Hubby ordered the chicken dish, he got a small piece of chicken with virtually no seasoning. Again it took forever to get our food. And once we received our food it was warm not hot. I ate what I could of the meal, at this point I was getting over heated from sitting in the restaurant. So I called to our waiter for the check, he nodded to acknowledge me and then walked off. I waited and no check. Finally got the waiters attention again and asked for the check again. He finally brought the check, but he brought us 1 check for the table. Which he never asked us how we were splitting the check among the 4 couples sitting at our table. At that point I was so over heated I had to leave, Hubby had to settle the check because I was getting sick from the heat. I was very disappointed because I had seen this restaurant online and was so looking forward to eating there. read more

Even though it is beautiful inside this place is a waste of money. I paid $26 for a 3 finger halibut dish with a small salad. They dont have consistent prices and the portions they give you are much too small for the amount you pay. Beautifully decorated, unique interior featuring worm wood walls, a canoe light fixture, beautiful curtains, and more. The walls facing the patio are made of floor to ceiling windows. The patio is gorgeous and so cozy with the fire place, heaters, and couches, and lights. The food exceeded my expectations! The Olive Oil Poached Halibut with pureed acorn squash is very flavorful! The first bite surprised me with how good it was. The portion size was perfect, I ate the whole dish. I definitely would have had room for an appetizer, I'll have to get one next time. I ate the salad that came with my husband's chicken. If there was any dressing it was only oil because there was not much flavor at all. It wasn't bad, but left something to be desired. The radishes and carrots in the salad didn't spice it up enough. My husband enjoyed the Smoked Half Chicken. I tried a piece, and again, was surprised at how flavorful it was. Out with my friend this evening spending some quality time. We decided to do a progressive dinner at Halcyon. One stop along the way was ocean and acre. What a great choice we made! Our server, Sydney, was on point. She was prompt, she was attentive, she made great recommendations. Everything you looking for in a great server. We ordered the Burrata and grilled oysters. The Burrata was a delicious melty cheese, served with arugula, nuts, and plums. The sweet plums, the peppery lettuce, and the smooth cheese were a delightful combination. The grilled oysters were quite tasty, and I enjoyed the crispy bread crumb topping. Although. I missed the smokiness that you get with chargrilled oysters, I enjoyed them very much. read more

I ordered the crab cakes which had a little crab, lots of filler that were mushy and tasted like they were heated in a microwave, they for sure did not go from a pan to my plate. Not sure how they are getting such great reviews. We decided to go out Saturday night 7/15 23. We arrived around 7:55-8pm. Didn't look all that busy but they asked first if we had a reservation. We said no and the hostess said they had outdoor seating which was fine by us. Our waitress Kristyn was fantastic. We ordered drinks and placed our food immediately with hush puppies as our appetizer. Our waitress came to our table about 35 to 40 minutes in saying she's sorry our food is taking so long. We kindly replied no worries. Another 15 to20 minutes later she came and asked if we wanted more drinks. By this time we were getting highly frustrated. How long does it take to cook 2 fish sandwiches? We also wondered why the manager didn't come to the table to offer anything while we had to wait on our food? Instead we had to ask our waitress who said she will sense to manager over when he brings us our dinner. The manager came about 8 minutes later with our food. The blackened grouper was far from blackened and he size was no more than a woman's palm size. Didn't even come out of the sandwich. The slaw is the only thing that made this sandwich. No joke! I wish I had taken a picture to show however I was so hungry by this time. Oh and the manager when bringing us our food said if you want dessert it's on me and Tell your waitress I said that. Went here last week for the first time and had a few happy hour items as well as the lobster roll. The lobster roll was the most overpriced roll I've had in the country. It is by far THE smallest lobster roll I've had for $34! I've had larger for much less $32 at my favorite spot in New York for lobster rolls, Cull & Pistol. Maybe 3-4 oz of lobster in a very small brioche bun at best. Do not order this item if you are hungry and unless you are prepared to be disappointed. Saving grace for this spot was the drinks and the service. Will not return for their food as their portions are not commensurate to the price tag. What really sets them apart is the innovative and truly unique menu offerings like ceviche with beets, wagyu beef carpaccio, lamb belly, and savory pork chops. If meat isn't your thing, they have tons of fish, a take on fish and chips, oysters, and even more shellfish to choose from. Like we said, perfect harmony! Beyond this, we really enjoyed the medley of flavors that they paired together in each dish to make them remarkable. Ok, enough talk, let's take a journey through their menu, sip on a cocktail, and sit by the fire. Come on in. Starting with the raw bar, the Bass Ceviche was one of the most unique small plates we've ever had with light and flaky bass mixed with beets and in a beet vinaigrette. It was earthy, fresh, and light with every flavor you could imagine in such a simple dish. Yes, you must like beets, but they are perfectly cooked and are actually the perfect pair with the fish. Light and delicious. Maintaining our foray into the lighter side of Ocean & Acre, we opted for the wagyu beef carpaccio. The most tender slice of tartar beef paired well with some oil, herbs, and a light whipped cheese. The best bite is to wrap up the beef, cheese, herbs, and oil and stuff it all in your mouth. Savory, creamy, light. We took a turn from there into hearty with the Smoked Lamb Belly. The meat was fresh with very little game, a different take on a pork belly dish. What was truly amazing about this dish was the best side on Ocean & Acre's menu: the polenta. We cannot sing the praises of this more! With the creamy polenta flavor up front then the tart and sweet of the craisins and raisins on the back it's a savory sweet MASTERPIECE. Could. Not. Stop. Eating it. Great for the cold weather! Our main course consisted of some of the most flavorful, savory pork chops we've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked with herbs and a hearty au jus, this chop was well, perfect. It comes with two, cooked onions to add flavor to the sauce, as well as mushrooms. Two people can share it, it's that big. Suggestion: get the pork chop with a side of the polenta from the lamb belly dish. We ended up mixing them together and WOW. This is THE combination to try! Highly recommend. Let's not forget their drink menu which had a good mix of classics and signature sips to try. The one we like the best was Barracuda. It's their drink of the week this week, November 22nd 2019 through the Thanksgiving. They have an in-house infuser and backed it with habanero, blood orange and tequila. They paired this with crème de chassis on the top. Perfecto. We also enjoyed both the Rosetta, the drink of the week last week with whipped egg and cloves, as well as a fun tiki drink called Ebb Tide: pineapple, rum, mint. A tiki mule if you will.
